All right, guys, if you come through for me I'm going to buy you all lunch and give you pony rides.
I've got a Virgin Mobile (USA) Wildfire S CDMA in my hands. I've been trying to get it back to factory settings, so of course I tried to run an RUU (RUU_Marvel_Virgin_Mobile_1.37.351.1_Radio_47.10.35.3029H_7.46.35.08_release_188032_signed.exe located at AndroidFiles, if anyone's interested). I put the device into Fastboot USB mode, launched the RUU EXE, and sat back and watched as it updated the radio. Then the phone vibrated thrice and stayed black, while the RUU timed out and told me there was an error.
I've since discovered that the device is now in Qualcomm Recovery Mode, and the accepted way of fixing this is to put a PG76IMG.zip file on the SD card and press up a couple of times after your device powers on with five vibrations. The issue I'm having is that I can only get the device to vibrate three times when I hold VolDown and Power, regardless of how many different PG76IMG.zip files I try.
Where do I go from here? Any help at all would be appreciated. Think of the pony rides!
What file you downloaded? Try with this.
I don't know what Qualcomm Recovery Mode is, but you can try to install with fastboot.
Method:
First need to download the .zip Fastboot (win or ubuntu) but if you use ubuntu, need to dowload first SDK platform tools and then download the .zip, introducing it in the folder "Platform-tools". In windows only need to download.
Then, open terminal and browse to the folder. When you are in, write "fastboot flash system SYSTEMFILE.IMG". It flashes, final only need to reboot (fastboot reboot).
If you need to install a custom recovery the command is: fastboot flash recovery recoveryfile.img
You can download the file here.
Tell me what happened with the issue

That looks very promising, but I can't get the phone into Fastboot. Literally the only thing it's capable of doing right now is vibrating three times after I hold the power button, and then it won't do anything else until I pull the battery. This is apparently the Qualcomm Diagnostic Mode.
Panic bump? I kinda hoped this wouldn't just disappear into the depths of the forums...

same
Same thing here (or at least very similar). Hoping there's a simple solution like the "Odin back to stock" I can do on my SGS phone.
are you sure that the bootloader say "unlock mode"?
If so, then try this.
try this
Install the USB drivers on your PC if you haven't done it already. ( http://global-download.acer.com/GDF...A TAB&Step3=A100&OS=a08&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=PA_6 )
install android SDK. ( http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html )
copy the update.zip file to your SD card root.
download TWRP recovery ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608152 ) and place it in the platform-tools dir where the SDK was installed ( ex. C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools )
Once all that is done follow these steps
1) boot the tablet to fastboot mode
2) run command prompt on PC (cmd.exe)
3) cd to the platorm-tools dir
4) type the following lines one at a time.
adb.exe
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery NAMEOFRECOVERY.img (ex. recovery-A100ICS-TWRP.img)
5) hold the vol down button on the tablet
6) type fastboot reboot.
The tablet should now reboot to the recovery program. Goto settings and mount the external SD card, then flash the update.zip by going to install.
Hope this helps

Did you rename/delete /etc/install-recovery.sh ?
I think you're not. Try to make hard reset, then boot normaly rename/delete this file and after that flash recovery again, it should work.
All it's explained here.
Thank you

That's awesome news!!!
Number 1 is the correct command.
Just making sure you are actually in fastboot (bootloader) mode. On the command-promt type "fastboot devices", if you see the result below, then you're good
? fastboot (yes that's a question mark)
Now be sure you are in the directory with the recovery image and issue number 1 command (fastboot flash recovery whatever-recovery.img). If you get some errors, be sure to check the MD5 hash of the recovery image cuz it could be a corrupted download.
Of course, you can't flash the custom recovery if you still have a locked bootloader.
you guys rock..even closer
Thank-you everyone ..I am soooo close. I did get the recovery image to load (I accidently had it in android-sdk and not platform-tools...oooops my bad). Now I can reboot to recovery and install the update.zip off my external sd card. However after I install the update.zip and reboot, I still get stuck on the acer screen (bootloader version 0.03.06-ICS (Unlock Mode) at top with acer logo in green at bottom.
Which update.zip am I suppose to be using? Currently I am trying to install one of the stock ROMS from the developer section of this forum. Am I suppose to be using a specific one?
Thanks again, I know I'm close. My tablet has been brick'd for weeks and I'm dedicated to getting it back now that I have time.

How about Flexreaper ROM? It will require full wipe before flashing: in recovery wipe/factory reset, wipe system, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, flash Flexreaper ROM zip file. This is basic guide, follow detailed instructions on this ROM thread (link is in my sig).

Power down the unit. Set screen lock in the up position. Hold volume down and power. When powered on keep holding the vol down button. Then toggle the screen lock to down.
That should do a factory reset.
Then put a stock rom in the root of SD Card. Volume up then power until let the tablet recover.
This worked for me.
did u install the drivers from an earlier post? Also when you power up you your tablet you need to boot into fastboot mode? You're certain you have done both of these things?
I am unable to connect to, my pc doesnt recognize my acer anymore...unless by sd card you mean external card? Thank you for trying to help. I'm a serious noob but trying hard.
i'm in a similar situation. i accidentally deleted the build.prop file and rebooted. now it only displays a black screen after the acer logo drops out. my boot loader is locked but i cant install the mtp usb drivers to fix anything. think i have a paperweight now.

tried. i had no alternative recovery on it. i could not get the sd card mounted to push the zip to it. both adb and fast boot wont see my tablet. every attempt at unlocking fast boot wouldn't work. I tried to check in device manager to see if it was connected, the driver was working but it had an error message "Device can not start (Code 10)"
My pc only sees my tablet when I boot it into fastboot mode and sees it as an adb interface...Is there anything I can do from there?
SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED
Hi All
Is there anyone willing to help me recover my phone (presently stuck on logo screen). I've looked at various solutions posted on different forums but I just get confused.
So what I would like is idiots guide on how to do it, including how to write the commands codes so I can flash the updated CWM rom. Tried to work it out but everything I've tried keeps failing and I desperate to get my phone working again.
Please please help
Tell us what you have done so far m8 and the reason for it being stuck. At a guess did you flash the boot.img when installing a Rom?
To install or update recovery, go here and follow the instructions on the second part "Installing A Recovery" Just follow the steps its pretty easy.

Flash the appropriate boot.IMG for your rom
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
hmmm
Thats what i've trying to do but I can't seem to work out what cmd codes I need to get it to work. All I get is:
'Downloads\OneXRoot' is not recognized as an internal or external command
operable program or batch file.
This error message on everything I try to do incuding flashboot, flashboot recovery etc
Tried micks solution and all it did was open Nero gggrrrrrr
And yes I did flash a boot image but i'm trying to get the updated one onto my phone but because my battery won't charge it proving to be a nightmare
From the link I posted do as the guide says re making a folder called fastboot on C: and then download the files and extract them to fastboot. Replace the end of the guide with instructions for flashing a boot image. The boot.img is usually in the zip of the rom. So you need to extract the boot.img and place it in your C:\fastboot folder
It should go something like this. Use C:\ not Downloads\OneXRoot
1. Download These Fastboot Files
2. Make a new folder on your C: drive called fastboot.
3. Extract The Zip downloaded in step 1 to the new folder
4. The Official Version of CWM has been released and is now capable of flashing all roms, you can grab it HERE
5. download the custom recovery and save it in the same folder as you did the fastboot files
6. Power Phone Off by Holding power button for 10 secs
7. select Fastboot with volume + or - then press power
8. plug your phone into your PC and open a Command Prompt.
(windows XP - Click Start > Run > type CMD in box then press OK
(Windows 7 - Click Start > type CMD in search box then press Enter)
9. cd to your fastboot files folder cd c:\fastboot
10. Then enter fastboot flash boot boot.img and hit enter
11. fastboot erase cache is recommended if you have booting issues
reboot
ignore steps 4 and 5, copy and paste from above link
Going to buy a new phone
Followed your instruction to the letter but it failed to work. I think the problem is with my computer not recognising fastboot and the solution also failed. So I think i'm just going to buy a new phone and thanks for all your help
No need to buy a new phone, stick with it, you'll get there
Maybe give this a try. It does everything for you

Nice
Thanks thats a solution that will work once I find away to charge my battery. You have been a legend.
Cant you just put it in to recovery or leave it on the hboot screen, then plug in to a wall charger?
In Q&A, find the topic "flashing boot.img hoooooooow????" Or something, and at second side, u have my guide to flash boot.img files. Hope it works.

I know the feeling! You're all excited because you just unlocked your One V's bootloader, flashed a recovery, and flashed a steamin' hot new ROM. You boot up for the first time and get ecstatic, the tension building as you put in your Gmail info. You finish the start up but OH NO!!! Your phone reboots! You blame yourself... you blame your cat... you blame your wife... you blame the war in the Middle East. You think, I must've done something wrong! Stupid, stupid, stupid! Don't fret! Take my experience with this quite seriously (despite the jokes). For 2 weeks, I retraced my steps and tried EVERYTHING! I thought it was just the ROM's problem, so I flashed one after another to the same end. Finally, I decided to post a new thread asking for help. Nothing became of the first thread, so I posted a second one. To my great relief, along trotted Curiousn00b. After shoving me in the correct direction, I figured out the rest. A big thanks by the way, Curiousn00b! The following is the method that I used to get my phone to finally run a ROM. Also, a thanks to CafeKampuchia for the quoted directions below.
A few things to make sure you have:
Windows (with Administrator's priveleges)
Fastboot installed and working
Your phone (duh!)
A USB cable
Time and patience
The following quote is from CafeKampuchia's thread over here.

Here we go:
1. Download the correct RUU for your device from Football's Primo Shipped ROM Collection.
2. Charge the battery above 50% or for at least one hour. If the battery dies during the flashing process, you could hard brick the phone!
3. Run the RUU until the wizard comes up. While the RUU wizard is open, find the temporary folder it created. (Open Explorer in Windows and type %temp% in the navigation bar.) There will be two folders with long encrypted names. In one of them you will find ROM.zip. Open it with 7zip and extract recovery.img or recovery_signed.img. Put it in the location were you've installed Android SDK tools. This is the stock HTC Recovery and it is needed to run the RUU.
4. Boot the phone into bootloader (power off, hold down volume and press power) and highlight FASTBOOT/B] using the volume rocker and pressing power. Then connect the USB cable. You should see FASTBOOT USB.
5. Open a command prompt in Windows and navigate to the folder where you installed Android SDK tools. Flash the stock recovery extracted in step 3 above using the following command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
or
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
6. Relock the bootloader using the following command:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
Click to collapse
Thus far you should have the stock recovery back and be bootlocked again. Now, back in fastboot mode, you should already be connected to your computer via USB (if you disconnected, just reconnect it and wait for "FASTBOOT" to change to "FASTBOOT USB")
Run this command:
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Next, start up the RUU program again and let it run through without interruption. After this process is done, the phone should boot up to the stock ROM. Let it do its thing, but this time don't do the OTA update. From here, just unlock the bootloader again, install your recovery of choice, and install your ROM of choice or reroot the stock ROM (I know some want to keep it stock).
As also pointed out by RoyalYeo, you can let HBOOT take care of the problem:
Solution #2
My hunch was correct, the .0928 Radio was causing the bootloop... I managed to flash the 521_2 radio, and now the Sick kernel is working and AOKP JB runs great.
Steps (on windoze):
1) Download the RUU
2) Run the .exe, wait for it to open the first wizard screen.
3) Open a file explorer in c:\users\yourname\AppData\Local\Temp\New_Directory _With_Some_Hexadecimal_name
4) Locate `rom.zip`, copy to the root directory of your sd card, and rename it to PK76IMG.zip
5) Reboot to bootloader, connect usb, and `fastboot oem lock` in cmd shell, at which point it'll reboot
6) Get back to HBOOT, wait for it to notice PK76IMG, confirm, make a pot of coffee, check back in 5-10 minutes.
7) After reboot, phone should now show a 1.00.00.521_2 radio... re-unlock the bootloader in fastboot, re-flash TWRP or whatever, and you should be good to go.
Lemme know if you get it working...

My personal solution (Solution #1) is the more technical side of things and also exposes you to the nitty-gritty. Having said this, #1 is quite touchy because if you do something wrong, there is a good chance that you could... well uh, brick your phone to be quite honest. On the other hand, #1 requires no SD card (given the event that your SD card won't mount, your SD reader is broken, or you just plain don't have an SD card). Ultimately, the choice is up to you.
A note for Mods: I'm not sure if this technically falls under Development or Q&A (or both). If it can stay here in Development, I'll also post a thread in Q&A.
hello there,
So i've followed these instructions and I still get a bootloop... Occasionally when i flashed the MIUI.us rom it will get up to the start out screen... then restart... and do it repeatedly... but at the current moment... it's simply bootlooping on the MIUI logo. I've ran RUU approximately 20 times on this phone... i've tried different SD cards because something is recently they have been randomly disconnecting and not showing up... i Plugged my phone in and set it to Disk Drive mode, wrote files to it... and when i check on my phone... all the files are gone except for the original.. so i preceded to take the card out plug it into my computer and format there... i do that... and all the files show back up when i plug into my phone... ALL the original files that i just formatted... i don't know what steps to take next to get any of it working. I've tried flashing sick kernel and the MIUI rom and still nothing has worked... any assistence would be greatly appreciated, I'm tired of resetting my phone EVERY time i try and flash a new rom
I have a thread here but Everything i have tried there has failed to work but you could use some of the info from there to possibly diagnose?

Thanks a million!
Was running MMuzzy, tried Omni, decided to go back (no statement on Omni, just didn't want to deal with new, setting up and such) and the only backup I have is in TWRP... but I switched to CM to install Omni... and like an over eager cleaner, I deleted the install files for everything last time I was in Omni... then I went into recovery, wiped and realized I need TWRP to restore my backup (no files found in CW)
All I can do is boot into recovery and I cannot figure out how to set up windows so I can put an install file on there to run so I can get back to TWRP and clean this mess up. I tried installing the Samsung drivers on an XP workstation but the computer doesn't find drivers when plugging in the phone... I pointed to the samsung/drivers folder in programs but no luck.
Bail a ding bat out?

Can anybody explain how to get this thing viewable in windows? (With no phone control)
Please.... and thank you in advance!!!

For my instructions, download these, you will end up using them:
1. Android drivers for windows, I would prefer Universal Naked Driver (UND):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766220
2. Android debugging tools (ADB), I would prefer minimal ADB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42407269
3. TWRP recovery image: http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2/90 download the last version you remembered using or just use the latest openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.2-maguro.img
Install 1 & 2 in order. You may need to have the phone boot to recovery to install #1. Installing the drivers in Windows XP/7 will be easier, Windows 8/8.1 requires an advanced step to disable unknown driver enforcement.
For #2, if you have ADB/Fastboot already, skip this step. If you don't, then you may need to install it while in recovery too. Install it to a folder you are familiar with, I would choose C:\ and make an Android folder.
After you have both installed, boot your phone to bootloader mode. When it is shut off, hold VOL + and - at the same time then press the power button for all 3 simultaneously. It will boot into bootloader mode, where you see the android and your Galaxy Nexus revision/software details.
Move the TWRP recovery img file to the location of your ADB folder. For my example, I will assume #2 (adb tools) are installed in Local Disk (C and the android folder, so C:\Android
From here you would use the command prompt/terminal start > run > cmd or start, find program Command Prompt.
In the terminal type cd\foldertoTWRPimgfile\ or in my example, cd\android\
Next, type fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.2-maguro.img
my example would look like:
C:\android\ fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.2-maguro.img
it will show a progress indicator, then OK'd when it is finished.
You can then manually boot to recovery in fastboot, hit a volume button on your phone a few times until you see RECOVERY, then hit the power button to load it. You should now be in TWRP and be able to restore your backup, hope it is still there. Since it is likely that you were last using an older version of TWRP for MMuzzy, you might notice differences if you flash a newer version of TWRP.

Merry CHRISTmas everyone!!!!
A few months ago I decided to try and root my Nexus 7 (2013) tablet. At this time I simply cannot remember what process I used but all I know is that everytime I try to power it on the system start screen comes on where it asks what country you're in and so forth. But I also get the following Pop Up Error message "Unfortunately, Google Keyboard Has Stopped" and an "OK" button. When I click on OK the error message simply pops back up in a never ending loop. It stops at the SELECT WI-FI screen and won't let me input the access code because of the Pop Up Error message.
Does anyone have any idea how to completely wipe the system and bring it back to stock or just to the point I can do "anything"?
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
Boot into fastboot by holding volume down and power while the tablet is off. Scroll through the options with volume keys. When you see the option recovery mode at the top of the screen, press power. This will boot you into recovery. From there, there will be several option. One of which should be a hard reset. navigate using the volume keys. You should be OK from here.

Thank you for your reply but unfortunately this doesn't work. It puts me right back to where I always end up and still get the Error Message stated above.
I've been working on this for a few hours now and nothing! It basically says I don't have a Keyboard installed after I do anything. If I Factory reset it I get the same Error Message about no keyboard.
Any ideas? PLEASE HELP!
That is really weird. Do you have a custom recovery installed? Custom ROM? Does the computer find it? because flashing a stock image may be the way to go from here.

Thank you for your reply. I greatly appreciate you taking the time. I am at wits end at this point and simply need it to run again. Can you talk me through loading whatever to get it back to new? I'll take anything at this point. Everything is backed up so I have nothing to lose. How can I load the original image? (non rooted)
Thank you!

First you will need an image. Search for a stock 2013 nexus 7 image. Than you will need to download google USB drivers :
http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
Than install them by opening the device manager program which is installed by default on any windows computer. Plug your tablet in, right click it in device manager and press update driver software and browse for the driver you downloaded. Than install it.
Now that that is done download the android SDK.
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Extract just the SDK folder (the other parts are not needed) and enter it once extracted. Click on the platform tools folder, hold shift and right click. Click on
"open new command window here"
Now put your tablet into fastboot mode. Type
"fastboot devices" in the command window. If there is something that shows up this means that your tablet is recognized.
Now type "fastboot OEM unlock" in the command window. Select yes on your tablet with volume keys and click power on your tablet. Than it will run through the unlock bootloader practice. This will erase all content on the tablet. It may take a bit.
Once that is done, put your image in the tablets internal storage.
Now download the latest twrp for your device.
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/193
Press download latest .img
Now, put your twrp image in the platform tools folder and name it something easy to type. Now, in the command window type:
Fastboot boot (name of your twrp here).IMG
This will boot into twrp. It will not install it.
Now, in twrp press install and browse for your image (must be a .zip file) and flash it. If all goes well than reboot your system. If there is a problem try another image.
You do not need to unlock bootloader or install drivers again. Just boot back in to twrp and flash another image (if it goes wrong)

OK, a couple of things;
1. I'm using a MacBook Pro. Does this make any difference? (It says I don't have to download any drivers using a Mac but other than that is there any differences?)
2. I'm stuck at ..... Extract just the SDK folder (the other parts are not needed) and enter it once extracted. Click on the platform tools folder, hold shift and right click. Click on "open new command window here". Now put your tablet into fastboot mode. Type "fastboot devices" in the command window. Everything I do doesn't work. When I hold down Shift and Right-Click on the Platform Tools Folder I do not see "open new command window here". Is this the "platform-tools folder under the SDK folder?
Do you have any windows computers because this will not work without one

This is because Mac computers do not execute batch scripts and the fastboot commands are made to execute through a command prompt rather than a Linux terminal

I honestly made this way too complicated. Just run through setup without using the keyboard. Find an unprotected network (like McDonald's) that works and find a way to get your hands on an apk of any keyboard and install it. I'm not quite sure how you can get a download link to a keyboard with no account (yet) and no keyboard but there must be a way. Its a simple issue that causes so many problems. So in a nutshell, if you can find a way to install an apk of any keyboard, your good
