I have a usa number/ cdma programming, unlocked bootloader without issue. first cwm recovery I flashed was version 5 something. Sd card wouldn't mount. Tried cwm touch recovery, (version 6 something,) and it.wouldn't even start, just stayed at the dev warning / message screen for 6 or 7 min. Finally tried twrp CDMA recovery, and it works, just won't mount my sd card. In the recovery log, that's all it says, probably 50 times. "unable to mount sd card"
Anyone.have an idea what's going on? Phone.not.bricked, works.fine.when I boot normal system...
I'm lost...

Back up your SD card to your PC before doing anything. Then boot your phone completely and go to the storage menu in settings. Choose "erase sd card", once it is finished erasing, reboot your phone and allow it to boot completely. Now reboot to recovery and your card should be recognized. Formating your card on your pc and adding files to it before putting it into the phone and allowing the phone to boot and properly set up the sd card , for some reason prevents the files added by the pc from being filed under the same file system that the phone uses. I had this same priblem with TWRP and CWM. I erased my card in the phone settings and then added the ROM zip and such via the USB storage option that comes when plugging the phone into the pc via a usb cable. I rebooted into recovery and all was right in the rooted world again.

Hi,
Was running on LeeDroid 1.9, wiped and flashed for OpenDesire 3.4, came up fine then rebooted for the 3.4.2 patch and now my Desire just will not go past the HTC logo screen no matter what I do.
I can boot into recovery and have full access to everything, tried formatting the SD card and loading different ROMS but stuck @ the HTC green logo on white background.
Even Revoked3 again but the prob is not getting into the Recovery menu, its getting past that HTC screen.
Any info / idea's / help?
Thanks
Russ
If your phone turns on its not bricked, there will be a way to fix any issues your having, its just finding the correct one.
When flashing other roms did you wipe everything?
Data
Dalvik Cache
Ext parititon (if you have one)
Not wiping Dalvik is the number one reason roms get stuck bootlooping on bootscreen1.
Alternatively, it is booting but your not waiting long enough, you can always run adb logcat while booting to see if they phone is actually doing anything.
Hi,
Thank you for replying....
Figured it out that it is the SD card, here is the situation:
- Boot into recovery but cannot mount nor format the SD card
- Can see the SD card in MAC/ Windows and formated it Fat32
- Can boot without SD card
- Can boot with another SD card which is only 128Meg so cannot get LeeDroid back on it to reflash that ROM
I obviously need to format the SD card proper and it looks like I need to use Gparted but that looks like a HUGE Linux ISO download unless you know of a MAC version of it I can use?
Thanks
Found a 2Gig SD Card, got LeeDroid back on it, flashing and hoping I can boot with the original SD card so I can format with ROM manger but thinking it wont boot up with the SD card in regardless of the ROM, lets hope!
if you don't manage to boot it up. find this in the forum "PB99IMG.zip" w/o the quotes. format your sd card and put the archive in root of sd card. after that turn on your phone by pressing volume down and power on/off. wait till phone recognizes the archive and follow onscreen directions. phone should boot normally as unrooted. use unrevoked to root again and flash any rom you want.
post result.
Okay I am up but not on my original SD card, using a spare.
In recovery mode my phone refuses to mount nor format the card but can see it 100%
Seen some posts of a ADB cmd I need to use or is there something else I can try?
Thanks!
I ran "unrevoked" on my phone again and it booted when I had that problem.
But I took out the sd card when I did that. Not sure if it helps. But who knows.
Tried that, booting without the card is fine, with the card in is the issue, phone cannot see it.
I've got a rooted droid Incredible that I tried to flash a rom or two with last night. CYanogenmod 6.0.2 continuously crashed due to the email app crashing. So I installed shadow rom .1 and everything was going well until I did something stupid. I formatted my sd card bc I wanted to get rid of old apps/data/music and start over. This seems to have wiped out the .zip files for the roms that were running the os as well (in retrospect, no big surprise). So now, I can boot into recovery mode but the sd card isn't recognized (and it isnt recognizable with a card reader on my mac) so it cant find a rom .zip to boot off of. I have another sd card and that one as well is unrecognizable in the phone. Any help is appreciated!
In clockwork recovery I get:
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 (no such file or directory)
ERROR mounting sd card:!

I'm assuming the second one is recognized on your Mac. Try formatting it to FAT32.

Yup, I've had this problem too. It's a flaw with Android. It won't recognize your card because there's nothing ON it.
The only way I solved the problem was by:
1. Putting the microSD into an SD adapter.
2. Put SD card / microSD into a camera.
3. Power camera on.
4. Have camera format the card, and take a picture.
5. Power camera off and remove microSD.
6. Insert microSD back into phone.
7. Format from recovery.
Funny how a camera can solve a problem a computer and "smartphone" can't xD
When I try to download things from the internet onto my phone, it says I have insufficient storage. I formatted my SD and now have over 7GB of free space so I think the downloads are saving to my phone instead of my SD card. The problem is, when I go into my internet settings to "Download storage" it says "Storage card" underneath but it's grayed out. How do I fix this problem?
Anyone??? Please?

Did you format your SD card via your phone or via computer. If via computer, format it from your phone. Menu - Settings - SD & Phone Storage.

^I formatted it on my computer. Now, I just formatted it on my phone and my SD card wouldn't mount so I rebooted and now I'm stuck on loop on the FreshEvo boot screen.

Turn your phone off and then remove the SD card. Boot your phone to make sure you can boot normally. Afterwards, turn off your phone, reinsert your card and reboot, if you get stuck again, reboot into recovery and, depending on what you have, you *might* be able to format the card from there. If not, reformat via your phone. It *should* work. It always work for me.

I'm still stuck on the loop without the SD card in, and when I boot into Recovery it says it can't mount the SD card.

Your problem is not the SD card then. Your phone will operate without it. If you done a nandroid backup, I recommend that you use it to restore your phone to operating status and reformat your card once completed. Sorry for the delayed responses, I'm doing chores and stuff and reading the forums as time permits.

When I try to restore nandroid it just says SD can't be mounted.

Do you, by chance, have a spare SD card? I just want to see you get out of the loop and into your phone's menu. I don't see the connection with you being unable to boot completely and your SD card because the card is not mounted until after you're at your homescreen. Also, if you're unable to mount your card for a nandroid restore then your phone is useless, but not completely so don't fret. Therefore, acquire a different card and go from there. If you have To buy one, buy a 4gb card. Remember, we're trying to get you to your homescreen and if push comes to shove, the ability to flash your rom.

I'm having the same issue with my HTC Desire. The Download Storage option in the browser settings appears grayed out. I've formatted the card through the phone menu, I've rebooted it but the issue remains.
Did anyone solve this?
Thanks in advance.
Hi guys, I am running CM7 on my EVO. Today I did a backup using Rom Manager and after the phone rebooted, the SD card stopped working. I cannot mount it. I tried connecting the SD card to my computer using a USB adapter and the card cannot be read. There are pictures on my card which I really need.
I'm pretty sure my card is messed up but if anyone has had a similar problem and found some fix, please let me know.
Thanks.
If you haven't already done so, boot into your recovery and attempt to mount the card via the MS-USB option.

I went into clockworkmod recovery and in the "Mounts and Storage option", I first tried "mount /sdcard". That failed to mount the sdcard. Then I plugged in my phone to the computer and tried to "mount USB storage". It says "Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)"
Any chance you've got a card reader/ adapter? If not, you can buy one at radio shack for like $5
The card *may* very well be corrupted and if you've tried this them disregard. Sometimes, powering off your device and then removing and reinserting the SD card helps. Afterwards, connect your device to your computer and boot into recovery. Once again, try to mount the card from within recovery. If you're still unsuccessful and have a spare SD card, shutdown your device and swap cards. Download the PC36IMG.zip for amon RA v2.3 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026, place of on the root of your SD card and boot into the bootloader to flash it. Installation takes less than 10 seconds. Afterwards, shutdown your device, switch back to the corrupted SD card and then boot into your new recovery. With your device connected to your computer via USB, select the MS-USB option from within recovery and see if the card mounts properly.

Ok, I really messed up. the phone was almost bricked, but I finely managed to
get back to Clockwork Recovery.
Now I want to restore my backup or update the rom again, but it says:
No files found.
it seems that the SD card is formatted or unreachable.
What can I do? Any ideas?
It's easy to send your favorite Rom to SD
go to CWM --->Advanced ---> mount USB when screen changed connect your device to PC and then your SD card will appear on monitor now you can put Rom on SD and after flashing the boot.img install rom using CWM.

I've tried that just now,
it says: "unable to open ums file"
when I click it.
Edit: ok I updated the recovery
and now the mounting works!
Downloading the new ROM now, wish me luck!
