Hi,
Was running on LeeDroid 1.9, wiped and flashed for OpenDesire 3.4, came up fine then rebooted for the 3.4.2 patch and now my Desire just will not go past the HTC logo screen no matter what I do.
I can boot into recovery and have full access to everything, tried formatting the SD card and loading different ROMS but stuck @ the HTC green logo on white background.
Even Revoked3 again but the prob is not getting into the Recovery menu, its getting past that HTC screen.
Any info / idea's / help?
Thanks
Russ
If your phone turns on its not bricked, there will be a way to fix any issues your having, its just finding the correct one.
When flashing other roms did you wipe everything?
Data
Dalvik Cache
Ext parititon (if you have one)
Not wiping Dalvik is the number one reason roms get stuck bootlooping on bootscreen1.
Alternatively, it is booting but your not waiting long enough, you can always run adb logcat while booting to see if they phone is actually doing anything.
Hi,
Thank you for replying....
Figured it out that it is the SD card, here is the situation:
- Boot into recovery but cannot mount nor format the SD card
- Can see the SD card in MAC/ Windows and formated it Fat32
- Can boot without SD card
- Can boot with another SD card which is only 128Meg so cannot get LeeDroid back on it to reflash that ROM
I obviously need to format the SD card proper and it looks like I need to use Gparted but that looks like a HUGE Linux ISO download unless you know of a MAC version of it I can use?
Thanks
Found a 2Gig SD Card, got LeeDroid back on it, flashing and hoping I can boot with the original SD card so I can format with ROM manger but thinking it wont boot up with the SD card in regardless of the ROM, lets hope!
if you don't manage to boot it up. find this in the forum "PB99IMG.zip" w/o the quotes. format your sd card and put the archive in root of sd card. after that turn on your phone by pressing volume down and power on/off. wait till phone recognizes the archive and follow onscreen directions. phone should boot normally as unrooted. use unrevoked to root again and flash any rom you want.
post result.
Okay I am up but not on my original SD card, using a spare.
In recovery mode my phone refuses to mount nor format the card but can see it 100%
Seen some posts of a ADB cmd I need to use or is there something else I can try?
Thanks!
I ran "unrevoked" on my phone again and it booted when I had that problem.
But I took out the sd card when I did that. Not sure if it helps. But who knows.
Tried that, booting without the card is fine, with the card in is the issue, phone cannot see it.

I flashed a rom and then it said my sd card went bad. Tried flashing another rom and it problem persisted. As a last resort i tried to reformat my sd card with no luck. got an error. I then tried to flash through recovery and did a full wipe (my mistake for doing this) but cant flash another rom since the sd card it bad. When i restart it gets stuck at the splash screen.
I bought another sd card and placed a rom which i know works on it and it seemed to have installed fine, but now when i restart i get stuck at the splash screen like i did before.
Any ideas?
Maybe i need to find the original update.zip file from when i first rooted? My sd card is empty except for that rom i put on it.
I found it. Nope, didnt work. Maybe i need to flash a recovery, though i have none anymore.
In case someone else comes across the same problem, i fixed it.
The sd card was ruined. unable to reformat or anything. Luckily i back up my sd card recently so i transfered everything to my new sd card. Went into recover and did a recovery of an old backup.
Hello. I have done hours of searching for this problem I now have with my Desire HD and haven't found anything similar.
What happened:
I was running a MIUI ROM and experienced poor signal, noticed my Radio was a different version to the one recommended for that ROM. So I checked my phone was ENG S-OFF (yes) and flashed the recommended Radio.
Since that point the phone worked, I did a full wipe to install the newer version of the MIUI ROM and that's when Clockwork Recovery said it was unable to mount the sdcard.
I tried booting the phone with its stock ROM, and it's as if the SD card doesn't exist, if I plug the sd card directly into my computer it works fine, but ANY sd card plugged into my phone does not recognise it.
Since then I have reflashed a few different radios but still the phone does not recognise the SD card and I have lost root access. Phone is still ENG S-OFF.
Can someone help?
Thanks.
I would first suggest to put the SD card in your pc and attempt a format. Many problems can be solved that way. If not, try another SD card. If that doesn't work the phone may be broken and you may have to get it repaired. But let's wait and see what others think about this too.
I would suggest you to try inserting-ejecting the card multiple times into the phone socket. It is clearly the socket flawed. It happens on most of the phones I guess, even in my old SE W580. Try inserting-ejecting multiple times. If this would not work, you have to get your phone repaired, since it isn't likely to be a software side problem.
Hello thanks for your responses.
I have found a pattern between the sd card not being recognised and HBOOT.
For whatever reason, my phone will not boot directly to recovery (POWER + VOL-UP) - I get 3 vibrate pulses and the orange light flashes forever - instead I have to boot to HBOOT (POWER + VOL-DOWN) first and then select recovery from there. Whilst booting HBOOT, it checks the SD card for 5 different files, of which none exist - think something like PD98DIAG.ZIP etc. And once this process has been done, the SD card is not "seen" by anything else (recovery or ROMs).
However, once in recovery, if I reboot the phone directly into recovery from there (reboot recovery), the SD card is readable and usable.
Very bizarre!
So I went to android.madaco and used their online kitchen to download a custom rom for my desire z. I have also done this for my nexus s and it worked great. However when I installed the rom on my desire z it froze for 2 days. I finally pulled the battery and now it won't boot. When I first turn it on I get the white HTC screen forever. So I pull the battery and turn it on again while holding the volume down button. I have tried both factory reset and recovery. When I hit either of these it takes me to a clockworkmod recovery v3.0.2.4 screen. I get several choices here. Apply update from sd card, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, install zip from sd card, backup and restore, mounts and storage, advanced and power off. So I tried to install zip from sd card and it does nothing at all it just shows me the clockworkmod symbol and freezes forever. I also pulled the sd card and formatted it and put only the rom on it and it does nothing any different.

Sounds to me like you have a bad download. Delete the rom zip you have now and redownload it, also be sure and check the md5 sums (google 'md5 checker' and you can get a utility to check).

If you can get to your engineering bootloader, try to Fastboot the latest CWM recovery then go into that image to flash a different ROM.
I deleted the file on the sd card and redownloaded it. Samething so I downloaded a rom from cyanogenmod and same thing. it is almost as if it can not detect the sd card. I have formatted the sd card now but no change. The sd card is empty now. Any other ideas very much appreciated.

Did you try a different card?
Are you using the power button or track pad to make your choices? Either way you have to make choices with the track pad.
I bought a new sd card and still the same thing. It is as if i need to delete what is in the actual phone. Because it does the same thing even if I have no sd card. It defaults to clockworkmod for some reason. Any ideas much much appreciated.
Ok, I need some help. I had my phone rooted and had CWMR installed. I installed a custom rom and everything was working great. However, I needed my my sd card for flashing a nook color. So I removed the SD card, copied all the files to my pc, then used the sd to succsesfully flash the nook. I then deleted all the old files from the sd card and recopied the old. I put the sd card back in the phone and powered it on. Now, I'm stuck on the lock screen and the screen just keeps turning on and off. The all buttons and the touch screen are unresponsive. What have I done and how do I get this fixed? If I try to call my phone it goes stright to vm. HEEEELP!!!
Have you tried re-formatting the SD card ?
Tried formatting just now. didn't work. Then i tried flashing through odin, now i have a yellow triangle when i turn the phone on....getting worse by the minute...
Have you tried taking the damn card out?
If you flashed a bootable disk image to that card I'm pretty sure you need the HP format tool (I think it was HP) to format it normally again. I could be wrong, but, I do know that I had a special tool to reformat my SDcard when I flashed a bootable disk image to boot my nook.
That yellow triangle doesn't necessarily mean anything bad, so, chill out. Take the card out and lets take it from there.
Also, if something in your /data was what caused your phone to be hosed and you did an ODIN flash but didn't do a factory reset (or "Calkulins format all" zip is perfect for this) you would have the same problem no matter how many things you flashed to /system.
Hy all,
First, excuse my english, I'm french.
This morning I was on call and suddently, it stopped and my phone freezes. I had to remove the battery.
But know, I'm unable to boot again.
Since I decided to remove the bootlogo, I don't know if it's right after the HTC screen or while booting (I knew it was a bad idea...)
Finally, after some tries, I've been able to access hboot and recovery. But recovery took 46 secs to boot and said "Unable to mount SD card" or something like that. I tried on my computer and the SD card can be accessed.
So, I would like to know if someone had the same issue or if someone can help.
Thx!
Infos :
DHD running CodefireX SR19 and latest radio. No other sign since the release of SR19 some weeks ago.
sounds like you need to reformat SD card on computer. But first copy 4ext folder to computer then format SD. After format SD place 4ext folder back on SD then remount SD to phone see if that helps. You may have to full wipe and reflash rom when you enter recover do to apps moved to SD will no longer be there but may show in rom and when you try to open they will force close.
