Hi,
Was running on LeeDroid 1.9, wiped and flashed for OpenDesire 3.4, came up fine then rebooted for the 3.4.2 patch and now my Desire just will not go past the HTC logo screen no matter what I do.
I can boot into recovery and have full access to everything, tried formatting the SD card and loading different ROMS but stuck @ the HTC green logo on white background.
Even Revoked3 again but the prob is not getting into the Recovery menu, its getting past that HTC screen.
Any info / idea's / help?
Thanks
Russ
If your phone turns on its not bricked, there will be a way to fix any issues your having, its just finding the correct one.
When flashing other roms did you wipe everything?
Data
Dalvik Cache
Ext parititon (if you have one)
Not wiping Dalvik is the number one reason roms get stuck bootlooping on bootscreen1.
Alternatively, it is booting but your not waiting long enough, you can always run adb logcat while booting to see if they phone is actually doing anything.
Hi,
Thank you for replying....
Figured it out that it is the SD card, here is the situation:
- Boot into recovery but cannot mount nor format the SD card
- Can see the SD card in MAC/ Windows and formated it Fat32
- Can boot without SD card
- Can boot with another SD card which is only 128Meg so cannot get LeeDroid back on it to reflash that ROM
I obviously need to format the SD card proper and it looks like I need to use Gparted but that looks like a HUGE Linux ISO download unless you know of a MAC version of it I can use?
Thanks
Found a 2Gig SD Card, got LeeDroid back on it, flashing and hoping I can boot with the original SD card so I can format with ROM manger but thinking it wont boot up with the SD card in regardless of the ROM, lets hope!
if you don't manage to boot it up. find this in the forum "PB99IMG.zip" w/o the quotes. format your sd card and put the archive in root of sd card. after that turn on your phone by pressing volume down and power on/off. wait till phone recognizes the archive and follow onscreen directions. phone should boot normally as unrooted. use unrevoked to root again and flash any rom you want.
post result.
Okay I am up but not on my original SD card, using a spare.
In recovery mode my phone refuses to mount nor format the card but can see it 100%
Seen some posts of a ADB cmd I need to use or is there something else I can try?
Thanks!
I ran "unrevoked" on my phone again and it booted when I had that problem.
But I took out the sd card when I did that. Not sure if it helps. But who knows.
Tried that, booting without the card is fine, with the card in is the issue, phone cannot see it.
I was upgrading my SD card copied the fakeflash/clockworkmod update.zip onto my new sd card along with my new rom then put it in the phone and tried to boot into recovery.
I get the standard menu chose bootloader then chose recovery as I have done many times before. But instead of getting the black screen with the triangle with the ! symbol in it it just stayed on the white screen with the HTC logo.
Odd fair enough I did a battery pull and then tried to boot normally but got exactly the same thing.
Ok that's strange put my old SD card back in, but no joy cant boot normally and cant get into recovery.
Is there anything I can do or have I just lost my phone for good?
You just need to put a sd card in the phone (a sd card which u are going to use permanently)you dont need to copy anything to sd card apart from rom and radio before u flash it, reinstall your rom + radio and things should be ok, happened with me when i got a new sd card.
Seems VERY similar to a problem i had. Instead of HTC logo though - mine was on o2 splash screen as it is branded.
Have a look at my thread -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=776120
.....it was solved at the end.
If you are going down this route, be aware though you will want an unbranded RUU file and you will lose everything on the phone!
But a wiped working phone is better than a full non-working one!
Good luck
Hello everyone.
I've got a really big problem with my HTC Desire.
I installed the following radio: 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14 and ever since my device has gone to shi*...
As I've mentioned above, 3 big issues/problems have now arised:
- My device no longer recognizes the SD card. Neither in the operation system nor in recovery. I've tried both my SD cards, both of which used to work fine with my phone, and currently DO work fine with my PC.
- USB link does not work anymore. neither in OS nor recovry. I have no communication between my device and PC.
- I have no signal, aside from the occasional emergency calls signal. The device does not connect the phone company.
I will mention though, that whenever I perform a factory reset, and the phone loads the OS, for about 5-10 seconds I have a signal and the phone is connected to the phone company. If I do nothing, I lose the signal and never get it again.
If I make it to place a call however, I will keep having signal until that call has ended.
So as you can see I'm in a very difficult situation here...
* I cannot install other roms as my phone does not have access to the SD card.
* I cannot write commands to the device via adb shell as I have no USB communicaion between my device and my PC (and I have tried my wife's laptop as well)
* I cannot use my phone's basic features! (making calls, messaging, etc).
If it helps, a bit of phone background:
I'm rather new to the whole Android world. especially when it comes to messing about with advanced features.
What I have done with my phone is:
- Rooted it. I can't remember which method I used, but it included something called "unrevoked3" if I'm not mistaken. I could probably find out the details if neccessary.
- Installed clockworkmod recovery.
- Tried numerous times unsuccessfully to install different versions of apps2sd.
- Successfully installed Cyanogen 6.0.2 mod.
- Installed the radio mentioned above which fuc*ed up my phone.
I need the help of the experts in here urgently as I have not been able to use my phone in 2 days..!
Thanks in advance!
Liran
Can anyone help?
Since you claim that all of this started when you flashed the radio:
1. First try to wipe the Dalvik cache (boot into recovery, choose "advanced" then "clear Dalvik cache" in ClockworkMod). It might not help.. but if it does, it is by far the easiest solution.
2. If that doesn't work, do a factory reset. I know it sucks having to reinstall the apps, but it usually helps with weird problems like these.
3. If that doesn't work, flash a new radio (I suggest using a different version from the file you used, just to be certain). Remember to do a factory reset and clear the cache after you've flashed the radio.
4. If it doesn't work after that, please flash another ROM (again, to make sure that there were no errors in the ROM file you flashed) and .. you guessed it.. factory reset and cache wipe again.
And when all of that doesn't work.. panick and post here again.
Good luck.
Thanks for the reply

1. Tried that already.
2. Done that more than a few times already.
3. and 4. I can't do any flashing as I don't have SD card access on my phone.
Any other ideas?
So you have no SD card access from the bootloader either. I'm no expert, but there are some things you can try without running the risk of messing things up further.
If you can access the SD card from the recovery then you could put the ROM or radio images on the card from the PC and then flash them from recovery.
If the SD card doesn't work in recovery either then it might be a different problem altogether (different software, after all). Is there anything in the device or the SD card that might adversely affect contact between the SD card and the phone? Dirt in/on connectors, erosion from wear etc?
Maybe when you tried APP2SD, someone gave you A2SD instructions (which requires an ext3fs which some kernels can't read). If you can't read the SD card from recovery.. can you reformat if from there? (Please remember to back up the files on the SD card before you try this). I was unable to access my SD card after I'd repartitioned and reformatted it (maybe because I used vfat32 instead of vfa16 .. I don't know). The point is.. reformatting solved that issue for me, it might solve yours.
If you can't get these ideas to work, you could try:
- Flashing /system through fastboot
- Booting an alternate kernel or booting from the SD card through fastboot
However.. I haven't actually done either of those myself.. and I don't want to be responsible for wrecking your device. So I hope someone more knowledgeable will be able to help you out there.
Sorry
My desire stopped recognising SD cards (they worked in my PC).....had to be sent away. Still waiting for it back. My wasn't rooted though.

I cannot access the SD card from recovery.
It's also not a problem with the SD card as I've tried 2 different cards, both of which work fine on my PC.
I tried formatting both cards on my PC. 4GB to FAT and 16GB to FAT32 (I don't think it supports FAT because I did not have that option with that specific card). Neither helped.
I didn't see an option to format the SD through recovery on my phone, but any attempt to load a file from the SD on recovery ended in the following message:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0p1)
E:Can't mount /sdcard
How do I flash /system from fastboot? Bear in mind that I don't have USB connectivity from there, nor do I have SD card access.
I appreciate the help

I really hope I won't get to that as I have voided my warranty by rooting my phone, plus I don't think my insurance will want to fix my self-ruined device.. :\
Thank you mate, but this thread is irrelevant to my case as far as I can see

It says in there:
"Also, SD card functionality has to work. For this, do 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' in fastboot mode."
I cannot issue commands in fastboot mode. I cannot write them on my device as I have no keyboard, and I cannot send them to my device from my PC as I don't have USB connectivity on my device.
That's also the reason I can't do any of the steps on that guide.
Unless I'm missing something..?
Here are some notes if it helps anyone solve my problem:
- I can probably use Wi-Fi if it helps in any way.
- What is odd is that my phone cannot read or mount the SD cards anywhere, but it was able to put 2 files on them after they were formatted by my PC.
The files were:
qxdm_20101123_022000_1.dm and qxdm_20101123_022256_1.dm on my FAT 4GB SD card
and: qxdm_20101123_023126_1.dm and qxdm_20101123_023357_1.dm on my FAT32 16GB SD card.
- My radio is still 5.11.05.27 which means the radio update mention above (32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14) which I think screwed things up - didn't even work.
- Putting PC36IMG on a formatted SD card and starting the phone in fastboot did nothing. No sort of installation was attempted. The phone was just waiting for my input on that screen as normal (or am I missing something I was supposed to do..?)
- After formatting the SD card (on my PC), putting it in my phone and loading the OS, again I have a T-mobile signal for 10 seconds which then disappears into no signal...
- My phone's info in bootloader:
BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNW0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27

I had sd and isb bricked too. But I was able to use fastboot.
Have You tried it? Reboot to recevery, go to fastboot and connect usb cable.
I'll apologise in advance if I'm making the wrong assumptions here, but as you say you're rather new to this:
Fastboot is a way to control your device from the PC. When USB and SD connectivity are broken, you might be able to use it to restore the device. It will do nothing if you only activate it on your device. You'll also need the software on your PC.
You'll need the "fastboot" (and maybe "adb" programs) for your PC, from the Android SDK. Download the SDK from the Android site and follow the installation instructions from the same site (you'll just need step 2 if all you want to do is fix the desire, the rest is for developers only). On Windows, you'll also want HTC Sync (it contains some USB drivers that we need).
Once that is done, boot the Desire into fastboot mode, connect the USB cable and on the PC, open a command prompt and execute "fastboot devices". If it lists the device, then you can use fastboot to work from there. (Basically all that tickmaster describes above... only in a lot more words)

martijn_bakker, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
I have no words to express my excitement and gratitude!
I've done what you suggested and you were absolutely right!
The PC HTC sync driver missing was what created the problem.
After installing it I could issue the fastboot command to enable the sd card.
And then as if by magic, all my other problems had disappeared as well!
If there's anything I can do - if you need any help with anything - just name it!

I would be really, REALLY greatful if someone could help me
Wish I could help mate, but this was over 2 years ago! I've moved on to Samsung Galaxy S3 since 7 months ago!
Good luck mate...
Liran
I just asked because i can't understand what martijn_bakker told you to do..
Basically i don't know which commands i should use..
Anyway, thanks for your time
Strange problem with this desire, I can access the SD card from recovery with stuff like USB-MS and flashing from SD but with stock it says the SD card isn't recognized (the options in Settings are all grayed out). With a rom that has Apps2SD like InsertCoin where some of the main apps are installed to the card it just leaves me with a blank screen on boot with the background/top bar still there.
Pretty strange desire really, when I first looked at it the problem I mentioned above was happening (it was originally on InsertCoin, worked for around 4 months before this started) so I reflashed it to stock and then had it returned to me with the owner saying that their SD was broken.
If anyone knows how to fix this it would be much appreciated as I'm as stuck as a brick wall right now :/
Explain your problem in no more than 2 sentences that actually make sense and I may be able to help you out.
Add on information such as
ROM you are/were using
Can you boot
Does PC recognise phone
Hboot (S-ON/ S-OFF)
Have you tried with another SD ? Maybe it is the SD thats broken ?

Sorry, let me dumb it down a bit:
In Amon Ra recovery it sees the SD card fine and lets me use it over USB fine too but when I boot up into a ROM it doesn't seem to find it.
Using InsertCoin/stock ROM and neither recognize it, it boots up fine and the PC can see the phone too, but since it can't mount the SD card I can't use disk drive mode :/ It's using S-OFF hboot too.

The SD is fine, it works in recovery and in my own desire but I've tried another SD card to be sure and still nothing
hmm ok try to reformat the SD card using recovery and tell me if it works
I've had/got a similar problem. I believe it's a problem with the contacts between the sd card and the 'holder' for the sd card.
Try removing the back of your phone, removing the sd card, pushing down on the metal 'holder', replacing the sd card, and rebooting.
This works for me for anything between 1 minute and a couple of days before the problem starts again.
I have no idea why the card is still accessible in recovery. If the above had no effect then please ignore!
The only solution, and it's really not useful, is to remove the sd card. I've returned my phone for repair and nothing got replaced (my guess is because the sd card is still accessible on recovery)
EDIT: No longer convinced it's the contacts as whenever my phone 'freezes' if I reboot into recovery the sd card is always accessible.
Now think it's to do with the file system/structure on the sd card becoming corrupt.
If I format the sd card as one single fat32 and keep ALL apps on the phone then I have no problems.
Hi Guys,
I'm sort of new to all this Rooting/Flashing Process.
So any way I'll start. I tried to Root my HTC Desire HD the other day, but can't due to the fact the current stock rom that's installed doesn't seem to want to recognise the SD Card, as it think it's a Blank Card or Unsupported Filesystem. (Believe me I have no idea to get round this issue, as I've tried several Re-Formats of this SD Card, and I have tried other SD Cards, but if you put any in my phone then back into the PC, You have to reformat it so you loose your stuff) So basically any SD Card you put in My Desire HD, Screws it up. Meaning after you even try and format it on my Phone or even a PC, you loose all of your stuff straight away.
Anyway back to my question. Since I'm unable to Root my phone, Am I able to just download ROM Manager from play store, and Flash the recovery so I can Wipe my phone completely and install A new ROM? Or since my phone won't detect my SD Card, Will it brick my phone or screw it up if I do flash the recovery and wipe anything? (By the way, I've got the phone to recognise the SD Card once or twice, but after a few hours, even after using the phone perfectly to take videos, pictures Music ETC, it wants to reformat it again due to the fact the phone thinks it's an Unsupported Filesystem). I'm not sure if this SD Issue is Hardware or Software Related, But I would have my money on Both, but I'm just not Sure.
Your help would be really appreciated guys. Thanks.
You can only flash a recovery if you can write to a partition. You need to root with either HTCDEV or AAHK to write to a partition.
