There is an all in one update zip that you can flash in recovery that will get you from ma7 to mc2 or use root explorer and navigate to etc/security and rename otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bak reboot phone and those update notices should stop.
Hope this helps

Just install this rom. I just did it and it solved all my issues. You will need to flash modem separately. The kernel can be left the same as I dont know if that was updated too. But if you need that I posted link here also.

I keep getting the new OTA IMM76I update for my Sprint Galaxy Nexus and every time it downloads & starts to install it just opens up TWRP recovery and nothing happens...
I tried to use the Nexus Toolkit as well and do exactly what it says but get hung up on "waiting for device" after it extracts the files and everything...
I've been searching for 4 hours to try to get this update done because my calls keep dropping...
is it because I have the Franco Kernel installed on a rooted device?
no ROM or anything, just rooted with the Franco Kernel...
I tried like hell to find the stock kernel but couldn't...
DAMN this is aggravating
could someone PLEASE either explain or point to a link where it explains how to deal with this issue?
HATE having a brand new phone and the calls keep dropping....
I know there are "lots of threads on this issue" already but none clearly explain how to fix THIS issue...
please hep me out...thanks in advance.

While the above link is for how to manually install updates, the reasons why an ota update won't install are the same: if you want it to install ota, you need: the stock kernel, stock recovery, stock radio, and stock rom (with no original files missing/modified). Additionally, all of these have to be the same version.
Maybe you could also get the ota update file name for us as well.

does the stock radio stay the same after root?
like I said, all I changed was the kernel...so I'd have to flash the stock kernel to install the update, correct?
another issue I'm having is damn CWM....I have TWRP on here now and when I go to flash CWM through ROM Manager it get all the way to the end, freezes then fails...can't seem to get CWM installed for my life.
also what is all this "yakju, takju, etc..."??
I'm new to this device from an Evo 4G where we just download & flash and all updates work..never had an issue like this.
my device is v4.0.4., build Imm76D.L700FC12
baseband L700.05 V.FC12/L700.FC12
on the bootloader I saw "toro" on there so I'm guessing that's because it hasn't been updated, correct?
thanks.

If all you changed is the kernel, then all you have to do is flash the stock kernel.

Try the GN root kit. You'll find it in the dev section. That will get you back on stock kernel.

Unfortunately I do not (I don't own a Sprint device), but I'm sure that it is floating around somewhere.
Ok so i decided to do the update on the tmobile samsung s3, lost root and tried to do the zedomax method.that didnt work, tired a couple other method. they didnt work either. i dont know what to do.... phone is working fine but i cant get Odin to push cwm, i keep getting failed on the cwm install. i truly read all and researched and anything else im having issue understanding. can someone make a video or help on another method that worked for them.
Follow the guide how to root without tripping flash counter over at the development thread. Once your stock and rooted. Download ROM man anger and flash recovery from there. Forget about flashing cwm through Odin . Do it this way it always works.

No. You need root first if you follow that thread I was telling you about. But the cool thing is when you use Odin following the thread I told you. After your phone reboots you will find superuser that means root. Then you can flash recover through rom manager. Just make sure to put any ROMs you want to flash on your internal SD card and not the external. When you flash a ROM you will be rooted. Custom ROMs that is.
Pm me if you need more help

I wanted to root also. Im on stock with latest update. So let me make it clear: (Im a total noob spending the whole last night to learn about rooting)
First, I do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687 .
Ok so now I have rooted stock with latest update. It will wipe my sd card, correct?
Next, I go to Google Play to download Rom Manager. then flash CWM recovery. (I want to root because I want backup)
I heard the official tmo JB is coming soon. I suppose I will not be able to update through Kies with my phone rooted, right? so what is the best way to update to JB? thanks guys

Yup you are right. Follow what you typed and your into the promise land. As of now some people are lucky enough using voodoo root keeper from market but some aren't. When they try to re root custom recovery isn't sticking. Just wait a couple days. I'm sure devs will have a full rom with latest jb patch included.

what do you mean by "custom recovery isnt sticking"? it is CWM recovery flashed to the recovery partition, isn't it? Also I'm pretty confused. after rooted, can I still do factory reset in the usual way? (go to settings/reset)
Yea some people updated the leak jb and lost root. They then tried and root again and were successful but when trying to flash cwm thru Odin, the recovery wasn't sticking so when they boot into recovery it would only be stock recovery. IF you still have root and wanna grab the jb leak wild just released jb update so go grab it and flash away.

Hi,
I recently bought the Samsung Galaxy S3 on T-Mobile, to replace my Motorola Droid X on Verizon. Love the new phone, but miss my root capabilities - aka there's a bunch of bloat. There's an OTA not being forced for 4.1.1, but when I tried to root that, I soft bricked and got stuck in a boot loop at the pulsing Samsung. I grabbed ODIN and was able to push the stock 4.0.4 back into it and get it working again, baseband T999UVLH2, Kernel 3.0.8-925100, build IMM76D.T999UVALH2. Is there a way to root this phone, or a stock rooted ROM I could push up with ODIN?
I'm not looking to load custom ROM's, just have some of the abilities I had on my DX when it was rooted and get rid of some of the stock crap that I don't need.
I originally tried to do this with Samsung Galaxy S3 Toolkit v6.0, and soft bricked the phone. I followed the directions online, and did it as instructed, but yeah. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
All you need to root is the touch 6.0 clockwork mod recovery tar file which is available on xda as zip file and the odin version 3+ and follow instructions thats all thats needed to root, make sure you also put the superuser app inside the root of your sd card meaning connect your galaxy s3 to computer then open the root sd card and put it inside there, i believe there is a clockwordmod touch that already comes with superuser so you may not have to worry about putting superuser in root. here i'll grab links for you now. u dont checkmark anything on odin except select pda and browse for the tar file. Here is guide for your device with download links.
The clockworkmod touch recovery version is by far best and always works well with almost all roms.
I would also recomend you use liquidsmooth rom or if you want to test out the new android 4.2 cm but camera doesn't work on 4.2 cm10.1 now however it's a very nice custom rom
Btw, make sure you flash the superuser.zip file that you placed in your sd card while you are in clockwork mod recovery otherwise you wont comlete the root. to get into cwm you gotta hold volume up home button and power button at same time.

Thanks to both of you, I'm rooted, exactly the way I wanted to be. I couldn't get CWM to flash in stock recovery, nor could I get Root66 to flash in recovery, so I just pushed it with Odin. All I need to do now is get CWM Touch on it, and I'll be set. I'm reinstalling my root apps as we speak.
Thanks again!
Odin cf auto root is the quickest and simplest.

Flash cwm via Odin uncheck auto reboot. Then go straight to recovery then reboot. I'd wipe cache and dalvik while in there though.

[RECOVERY]TWRP 2.3.1.0 touch recovery [2012-10-15]
So, i decide to root my s3 because i wanted to do some cool stuff. I got odin, got the tar file and tried flashing it. For some reason it didn't work :crying: On odin it gave me a fail. I was in download mode too. So, when i turn on my s3 it is in odin mode but it says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." i did this in kies and when it was at like 99% it gives me an error. :crying:
so i tried flashing again in odin still fail, but i get on my s3 SV REV CHECK FAIL: Fused 2 > Binary 0. I have no clue what that means, So, i just want my phone to get working again i dont care about rooting anymore. JUST HELP ME FIX IT!!!!:crying:
BTW: I di root my Kindle Fire a while back so i thought I would have experience with this (i kind of do) but i guess I thought wrong.
Was your phone running a stock 4.3 AT&T ROM? What method did you use to try and root the phone?

Since your phone was running a stock 4.3 ROM, you can't use Odin to install a stock AT&T 4.3 ROM because it doesn't exist. There are leaked ROMs around that you could try flashing.
Alternatively, you could install a custom recovery and install a custom 4.4.2 ROM.

Glad you got it working. We're all here to help.
I've been rooting phones for a few years now (my evo and my Note 2.) I had my note 2 rooted for about a year and while having performance issues with Sprint (hate sprint) I flashed back to stock and updated everything, including the firmware. Ugh, I updated the firmware to the new knox firmware. Not knowing I was up a creek, I reflashed my phone with the tools I already had and had already used and triggered knox and cant get a recovery to stick. As far as I can tell the phone is still stock with knox tripped and I cant get any farther. I've spent a few hours reading now and I cant seem to find a way to either reverse knox or root the phone with knox tripped. I tried the cf auto root in the origional development section and couldn't figure it out.
Anybody got any advice, or a link to a thread started post knox so it talks about how to deal with it?

You shouldn't be up a creek. What recovery did you flash? Try the latest Philz for note2. Unchecked auto-reboot in Odin before flashing it, and when it's done pull the battery then put the battery back in and do the power button/home button/volume up to get into recovery...

I've been using the unified android toolkit. It seemed to work flawlessly before knox. Now it just stalls. Odin installs the custom recovery, the phone reboots, and goes into the stock android recovery. So I unchecked the auto reboot option, flashed CWM, and while looking nervously at the do not power down device screen, pulled the battery. It booted into CWM fine, flashed Paranoid Android and gapps fine, and rebooted into the new ROM just fine.
Not really sure why I was having problems, or why the pull the battery step is necessary, but it seems to have worked. I did not flash any SU files. Is that necessary?
I would download 1 of the root checker apps, or just install an app that requires root.
Usually (though I can verify not always. Lol) you have to reboot directly into download mode to finish the install of the custom recovery. If you let your phone reboot, stock recovery will over-write the custom recovery that you're trying to install...

I ran a root checker and it says I do not have root access. But the phone is running paranoid...so what am I missing here? I thought I needed root access to install the recovery and install a ROM. Seems I do not. Should I care about the lack of root access? Because all I really wanted was to replace the ROM, and that seems to have worked.

PA Roms work funny with root access on my device also. Just download and flash the latest SuperSU zip. If you already have it installed wipe the data first.
