[Q] allshare cast - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

im on frosty for the note 2 but cant seem to get allshare cast to work.. tried triangle away but it couldnt reset my flash counter. and idea how i cant get allshare cast to work???

Try searching. We've been going over this for a while now. Including by myself. Still no concrete fixes at all. I think part of the problem is just getting the resetting the hub done right. Ive been abke to do it but not consistently.

Soon I will post an article for the solution.

This is my experience, to reliably use my allshare cast hub or mhl adapter. You need your device status to be "normal" and a zero flash count. This needs to be set by the sysscope service, so it must be allowed to run. Triangle Away will reset your counter and the system modified status. The system modified workaround must also be enabled in TA, if you are rooted. You also need to be on a stock kernel.
Note: My GN2 always shows a flash count of 1.

Sprint Galaxy S III + Samsung AllShare Cast Wireless Hub not connecting?

Hello,
I received my Samsung AllShare Cast Wireless Hub last night and have been trying to spend all day getting it and my Sprint SG S III to connect, and I have not succeeded.
I have tried using the custom rom I use (Team Sonic JB) and also going back to full stock rom and stock recovery and also using the triangle remove to reset everything and I have not succeeded.
My phone each and every time see's the Samsung Wireless Hub (Dongle) and every time I try to connect to it, the phone message says's The AllShare Cast failed to connect.
Samsung support for this is not available until Monday so I wanted to ask here in case anyone might have some advice for me to try and fix this.
I also noticed that when I try to register this product, 1: The number it asks me for to register is not on this device (HEX/IMEI) like there is on the phone. 2: The model # on the device itself, when I type it into Samsung website, pulls up nothing. When I search for the device by name, I find it, but it has a totally different model #.
So I am looking for any and all help out there. I ordered this because of the Samsung %50 discount when I registered my SG S III phone but I am not happy atm since it is not working for me.
Thank you,
Whiteice
are you holding down the reset button until the light turns blue? If not it will fail every time. I run a stock rom and mine works.
As far as registration I have been trying to figure that out myself.
Yes I hold it down until it turns blue. Then once I let it go it starts to flash red.

So i just got off the phone with Samsung. RMA my unit.
The girl said they need to look into it because accessories are not allowed or eligible to register. Doesnt make sense to me.
I know the 3 support reps are doing there best but i really felt like they just disnt have a clue.

Mine works fine on the 3 and note 2. It may be defective. It should work first try.

I had to use triangle away to get mine to work. I was stuck at the black connecting screen.
after using the app, it has worked ever since with no problem.

What rom are you using. I have tried several now without any luck and yes I used the triangle away app to reset everything.

I am using a custom roms on T-mobile's version Note 2 & S3 and both work as they should... You must have a bad unit for sure.... Once you get a replacement please report back? And I have never had to use Triangle Away to get mine to work and I have custom recovery and the works!

I received my RMA unit and I am having the same issue. It fails to connect.
I am running Team Sonic SG3 rom and have Triangle Away running.
Not sure what else to do at this point.

Make sure when you are trying to connect you have the hub light solid blue. Use the reset button until it is solid blue.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Tried this and still fails to connect.
Just wondering, is there any particular baseband/modem I should be running for this to sync?
I am on LJ7 with the TW Roms.
Thank you,
Whiteice
There's a firmware update on the phone today. You may want to check it out.

I finally got mine to work.
Connected from my 3S SCH-I535 (Verison)
Used [Root] Triangle to reset the counter number to 0
Connected to the AllShare Hub
Received a reject connection msg
Unable to reconnect. Msg said "Connection Failed"
Tried to connect by holding the reset button till it turned red, same failed msg every time.
Called Samsung - THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT THEIR DOING.
Finally just pressed and released the reset button, which turned the blinking red light to blue.
It connected.. and worked
Next time I connected it was back to the rejected connection message.
Found that if I have the display on during connection, it worked (mostly).
I'm using this hub in my car to connect to my Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS with App Radio. I wish there was a seemly way to connenct as I have to do a lot before I go anywhere
Change radio to the App mode
Say OK to several warning screens.
Use my phone to launch AllShare app and connect to hub.
Run the ARLiberator app and connect to the radio.
After all the connection are complete, I can drive off.

what custom roms work with allshare cast?

Hi. I put my phone back to stock since the custom rom I was using (supposedly stock deodexed) was not working with allshare cast dongle.
I want to change roms again that has mobile hotspot (for those with unlimited plan) and still get it working with the allshare cast. NFS is awesome when played on your tv.

Most of them won't as they trip the flash counter, but you can always use Triangle Away to reset that. From personal experience, I've gotten mine to work on stock and DADr8's hybrid rom after flashing Triangle Away. Sadly I am seeing mixed results from other ppl not having the same luck as me so I would experiment and see what you can find. I've provided links to both the rom and program I use. Best of luck.

has anyone found a fix or a list of tested custom roms that the allshare cast work on? Thanks.
Been trying to figure it out in jedi 12. Can't figure it out yet though.
I was under the impression that it was the custom recovery that caused problems. Completely stock works perfectly but once I injected root I have to flash triangle away. I know when I used Frosty JB it would work but I had to flash triangle away before I used it each and every time.
The biggest problem finding out where the trouble lies is in just trying to get that first connection to begin with. I'm sure a lot of people are having trouble just establishing a connection in the first place!
Any of the N7105 or custom roms with Tmobile modem and kernel plus stock recovery and the flash counter has to be zero.
1. flash the newest N7105 rom from development section via CWM or TWRP.
2. using MOBILE ODIN PRO App flash Tmobile Kernel, Recovery and Modem then phone is gonna reboot, Put your phone into download mode and see you flash counter, if it is Zero you are good to go if your flash counter 1 or 2 or 3 then boot back to your phone use Triangle away app to clear your phone counter back to zero and then the Allshare Cast will work for you.
if you want to try a different rom then you are gonna have to flash custom recovery again using mobile odin....
Yeah I really hope the custom ROM's manage to figure this out soon. I hate being on stock just to use my Allshare cast dongle with my T.V. and car stereo.
allshare dongle working with rooted s4
Mine works fine rooted. I had to use the pin connection method which was not listed anywhere in the booklet I got. When your phone sees the dongle long press on it, hit pin connection, an 8 digit pin will come up on your tv when it is set to the correct input for the dongle. You have 10 seconds to enter pin on phone and that is what finally connected my rooted s4 to dongle. Running Clean Rom 1.6.5. Now my question,
does anyone know of a rom that includes allshare cast for the galaxy tab 2? I want to use it with my dongle as well but it has no allshate cast or screen mirroring in it right now. Hoping it is possible. Thanks,

The reset button.
Also, anyone know exactly what that update today did?

[Q] Allshare cast question..

I had to go back to stock with injected root to use my allshare dongle. I loathe stock rom with every fiber of my being.
Does anyone know or has anyone tried flashing custom recovery and custom rom and kernel then flash back to stock recovery and allshare still works? Or perhaps a work around other than triangle away. Which I don't enjoy rebooting my phone every time I want to connect.
I use the dongle in my car with the pioneer appradio2 so rebooting the phone everything I connect to my stereo gets old fast.
Sorry if it seems like I'm nitpicking. I had triangle away soft brick on me once before and had to Odin flash to fix.
No, you have to be completely stock for it to work. This is a struggle for many of us and it goes back many months.
None of the devs took the time or interest to take the app apart and remove the part that checks the phone.
Sorry to give you the bad news.

While I am in no way a dev, I did take some time to take apart the handful of apks and jars that are most obviously related to allshare - but I was unable to find out where exactly the check occurs. I even went through and hacked up SysScope.apk a little in an attempt to emulate an xposed sysscopeblaster mod that I had heard helps, but again to no avail. And by "no avail" I mean "the person that tested it said it didn't work" - as I have no allshare things to really test stuff. I contacted some other actual-dev folks that got things working on other carriers, and while reports indicate that replicating their methods worked with the 4.1.1 base for whatever reason 4.1.2 seems to behave differently, making such a replication no longer effective. This quickly began to land far outside any pseudo-skillset I might possess unfortunately. Hmm... does anyone happen to have the the flashable zip that was used to OTA update from 4.1.1 UVALL4 to 4.1.2 UVBMB4? Or was an OTA not possible (i.e. had to do it via Kies/Odin/etc.)? I just did the Odin approach using stuff from sammobile myself... it's a long shot but there could be a clue in there perhaps.
Anyhoo - long story short my personal attempt at figuring this out has revealed an absence of some needed skill or awareness of where such checks actually occur. Just thought I would chime in to show that it's not necessarily an issue of no one looking into it - just maybe not the right people
Ah. Well that blows. Thanks for the info though. Strange how Samsung is usually one of the manufacturers that condones aftermarket and custom work but would pull a stunt like this with allshare and tethering.
Been eyeballing roms and triangle away. But if everything has to be completely stock to work I'm just a dog barking up am empty tree.

[Q] anyone else having trouble with screen mirroring?

Hello guys! I've been having problems with screen mirroring since I installed a custom ROM (alpha) on my t-mobile Samsung gs4, when I try to connect it finds the TV and supposedly connects but immediately disconects. Is there a workaround?
Thx in advance
Never got it to work on stock phone With a Samsung smart tv.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
If you go to settings/more/about device/status under device status does it say "Modified"? If so screen mirroring will never work, this must say "Official". With 4.2.2 you can run some ROMs with triangle away to achieve this however with 4.3 triangle away is not compatible.

[Q] easy root method s4 mini

after multiple attempts using the odin method I found an easy root. my phone is rooted but I dont have a custom recovery. While this really doesn't concern me much, my problem is wifi tethering. my previous phone was an HTC thunderbolt on Verizon. my new s4 is sprint. I never had problems with rooting my htc or my wifes razor. I'm not completely green to the world of roms. WiFi tether from the Google play store is what I used on both and I was intending to use this as well for my mini. is their another app I should be using? or is it simply a settings issue? I have read another thread about tethering issues, but that was for the odin method with cm. I followed the directions precisely with the odin method, but it doesn't seem to recognize my phone when I get ready to use odin. it goes to the warning screen, I plug it in, go to next screen. odin says all threads complete (succeed0/failed0) it says this if I try to run it without the phone plugged in as well. this is why I went with the easy root method. I even tried to change the settings in wifi tether. but the only profile it had was for a standard s4. this profile did not work and auto detect seems to fail too. I get a wifi tether started with errors check log. but no log file is saved. I'm pulling my hair out. both me and my wifr need to be able to tether. any help would be greatly appreciated.
No need for an app, look at the screenshots... They're from a full blown S4, but my S3 Mini was the same, so I'm guessing the S4 Mini should be too...
