I am getting CID error on flashing OTA HELP!!! - HTC One X

hello there
i am on stock rom 4.0.3 with stock recovery and everything is stock except i unlocked my phone using htcdev
now i want a OTA from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606676
i got the right one which is orang216 and my cid is orang216(via fastboot oem readcid)
but after following the instruction there i can't install it i always get cid error at start i also tried deleting this line from updater-script
Code:
assert(check_cid(getprop("ro.cid"), "00000000" , "11111111" ,
"22222222" , "33333333" , "44444444" , "55555555" , "66666666" ,
"77777777" , "88888888" , "99999999" ,
"ORANG216") == "t");
but no luck still same cid error
btw it should be noted i am not in switzerland but in bangladesh and my carrier will NEVER auto OTA my phone
so plzzzzzzz helppppppp :crying:

Are you sure you followed every step from that thread?
From that thread:
How to Install OTA:
1. Download OTA file
2. Rename it 'update.zip' (not update.zip.zip)
3. Put on root of SD card
4. Boot phone into HBOOT
5. Select recovery
6. Select Update from Zip
7. Select 'install update.zip from SD card'
8. Press power to select

Yes, that's because the steps mentioned there are for CWM recovery AFAIK...
Which recovery do you have? If you have twrp then the steps are similar... in TWRP window there must be something named as "flash update" under install zip from sd... I haven't used TWRP much so can't tell you exactly...

In that other thread, I had told you this is a very different process.. and upgrading the hboot manually will be easy...
Just head over to that thread and follow matt's steps with the link I had given...

Do the following command : fastboot erase cache... and then try to reboot... if it still stuck on the HTC logo, then it's time to flash a rom..
I'm not able to find any nandroid backup for your CID,,, if your want to go stock post your upgraded 'version-main' so that we can check whether there's a RUU for you or not...
Either that or you can flash a custom ROM! Which one do you want to go with? stock or custom rom? Please tell us so that we can guide you from this point..

I would try redownloading the ROM (from PC), place on SD card, go into recovery, full wipe from recovery, flash zip file from recovery.

Did you try and apply an update to a rooted phone????
Well, if you're on bootloader screen it usually doesnt recognize your phone.
Last time I flashed a RUU i used fastboot mode. Start your phone with the "back key" held. Then start the RUU.
If you get something like a Model ID Error then, you will have to create a Goldcard to apply the RUU.
CAUTION: Before you flash any RUU, check if it's compatible with your SLCD or AMOLED Device. SLCD Devices are incompatible with certain RUUs, flashing a wrong one results in a semi-brick (display not working, but ROM functioning).
You must be aware of having the correct RUU.then try to enter fastboot, when it is loaded, plug in your cable, you must see that it turns to 'hboot usb plug'. If it does so, you can flash the original RUU, if it is the right one

[Q] Downgrade hboot 1.02.0000??

Any chance to do that? I`m stuck in custom rom and no chance to flash any of stock ROM`s because of hoot version... Same thing with fastboot.. No chance to flash hoot .nb0 from fast boot.. Thanks in advance
Have you tried using revolutionary?
Or the HTCdev Unlock Tool?
Yes, revolutionary does not support this version of hoot...
And boot loader is unlocked by htcdev site, but that is a problem now for me..
Do you have clockworkmod recovery?
Yes, CWM flashed from fastboot? Is there a way to flash hboot from CWM or..?
What happens when you try flashing a rom from CWM or wiping?
Signature error if i try rom with hboot.img in .zip... I only could flash a rom without hboot.. But my aim is to downgrade hboot...
You can't just flash any .zip file randomly. Especially if it's something as sensitive as the bootloader.
And try flashing a rom in CWM, you might not need to downgrade.
Naturally, I understand that and I understand well how should i have flash.. When i wrote zip rom without hboot i meant Buzz_Froyo_hTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_SAFE_FLASH_ZIP...
I want to downgrade hboot version to be able to use revolutionary instead of htcdev unlocked boot loader, understand me? Mentioned Froyo ROM does`t have hboot image in archive, and that`s why is safe...
I'm not sure if the HTCDev bootloader can even be unlocked.
But don't take my word for it...
I just hope you're wrong.. I hope that team mate from revolutionary have some idea in the future days...
Actualy, after looking at the RUU you were trying to flash. It's "safe". You could try using a "non-safe" one.

Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
@nejc121
Give me the link of "non-safe" to try?
@Scratch0805
Yes, i tried just that, but with no luck...
It can't be done like that, I think the images need unpacking first, if you look inside a custom Rom and compare it to your Rom.zip you'll see the difference.
I don't think you can use PC49IMG after unlocking with HTC dev either so your only option is fastboot and after I read the warning about not going back after using the tool it wouldn't surprise me if they locked it so it can't be flashed with fastboot either.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
Every section of Stock ROM i could flash with fastboot, except hboot which is my highest goal... You are right, i can`t use PC49IMG.zip anymore...

S-OFF on Hboot 1.02.0000
Hi guys,
first of all... forgive my english.
Please help me to get S-OFF on my buzz with hboot 1.02.0000 UNLOCKED (Unlocked by HTC DEV SITE guide)
I've got CWM on my wildfire, and used gingerbreak to get superuser privileges, but CWM recovery mode doesen't work anyway, when i try to boot my buzz in CWM Recovery Mode, appears a RED Triangle with an "!" and I can't do anything but if i press Vol UP and Power Button, appears a menu with:
- reboot
- update with update.zip
- wipe cache
- wipe data factory/cache
I've tried all of these options, but it doesen't work.
I've tried with revolutionary, but it doesen't work, when i start the .exe file, it says
"buzz, with hboot 1.02.0000 is not supported at this time"
I think my issue is because of I didn't get S-OFF on Hboot 1.02.0000 .
please help me to flash the ROM 've chosen to use.
forgive me... I'M a SUPERNOOOB

when the bootloader is unlocked using the HTCdev method ,there is no s-off required.. BTW try flashing the cwm recovery again using the fastboot method becoz the options you mentioned seem incomplete..maybe after doing this you may get "install zip from sd" option in cwm recovery so that you can flash custom roms..
Alternative: You can rename the custom rom to update.zip and put directly on sd (not in any folder) and choose "update with update.zip" option which you already have in cwm recovery.

[TOOL] Flash ota upgrade with clockworkmod recovery

I would like to share with you a modified OTA script HTC_Europe_1.29.401.7 to be flashed with clockworkmod recovery.
installation:
•download link
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/72778206/OT...1.28.401.9_release_259295wbmgoi0p47wgsfl6.zip
•push the zip on your sdcard
•check md 5
•flash through recovery
If the improvements also work for you please hit the thanks button.
PLEASE THIS IS NOT FOR EVERYONE
Flashing this on custom rom can give big issues flash only on nandroid backup of stock rom
N.B.
If you have a OTA, Download OTA zip from one-x and copy to PC, edit the zip file META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script , Delete line >
assert(check_cid(getprop("ro.cid"), "00000000" , "11111111" ,
"22222222" , "33333333" , "44444444" , "55555555" , "66666666" ,
"77777777" , "88888888" , "99999999" , "HTC__622") == "t");
then save and try again
p.s. Please use notepad ++

Can it update radio?

No you can flash only on unlocked phone with custom recovery. No mallware! This is original file where i delete only some script that verify CID.
For me this OTA this file don't update also radio but only system file. Is for user that wan't new radio
hi,
now I'm with ARHD 5.0 can flash directly your zip and then reinstall ARHD ?
or need to go back to stock rom ?
tks for help
@jonata ARHD as same effect on system file so no flash this file. If you search radio on hboot you can see that radio is not upgrade even if mike tell yes.
this file is for people that do't want new radio but only new system file on 1.28 base
to use this you need to have the stocks files (those which will be updated) from 1.28 rom (and the ROM in place has to be the one for this OTA).
As the ASSERT are still in the update-script you have to be sure also that you have all the files which will be updated.
@acer73, you should tell for which device rom is this OTA 1.28.401.9 ?
allHello i did thé steps all ok except now I lost the recovery ....
I clear cash flash again interim and nothing

What if I want to update my radio as well?

DONT INSTALL IT IF YOU HAVE A CUSTOM ROM RUNNING, THIS MAY CAUSE A PROBLEM WITH THE BOOT.IMG.

Sorry, but this file can't overwrite recovery. You can flash with fastboot cmw recovery o run cmw recovery putting cwm_recvovery. imf in a directory with fastboot and use this command (can you create a .bat file)
fastboot.exe boot cwm_recovery.img
fastboot reboot
If you want you can use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620755 to automate process.
good luck
U should give more info..
This is NOT for Everyone..
Flashing this on custom rom can give big issues
@ vallandil. Thanks I edit first post
Super!!! Thx
if this is a modded "original" OTA update, it should only work on 1.28 odexed roms...
not custom deodexed ones.

Firstly, you should not start flashing stuff to your phone unless you are 100% sure of what you are doing. The community is here to help, not to bail you out because you couldn't be bothered to read the instructions carefully.
Right rant over lets try and get this phone working again. As you have already flashed the rom, that's a start. You now need to go into the bootloader to flash the kernel and ram disk.
So step by step:
1) Boot into the bootloader (hold volume down and power)
2) Download the appropriate boot.img from the ARHD thread.
3) Place the boot.img in the same folder as fastboot.
4) From the Command Line run fasboot flash boot boot.img
5) Then run fastboot erase cache
I may be wrong but I think the ARHD boot.img contains a script which automates steps 4 and 5 in which case you can just run the script and ignore these steps. Once you have done all this the phone will boot normally.

i didnt forget you just checking if we can do it with other way.
found a way. go here download it. Make sure u have the HTC sync installed. Once u download the tool u will find 2 files one exe and one folder.inside the folder u will find 2nd folder with name Kernels. place there your kernel and go back one folder where you will find Windows Batch file with name UserKer Press it and follow the instructions
One more edit. Rename the Kernel as Boot! or else i think it will not work the script
GOOD LUCK

If you are now trying to get back to stock then you need to know a few things first. If you have a branded phone (locked to a network provider) then you will need to download their RUU for the phone, if you have an unbranded phone (can use any sim card in it) then you will need to flash the unbranded RUU for your phone. and unbranded RUU can be Identified if the firmware is like the following: x.xx.401.x, a branded phone goes something like: x.xx.771.x (this is for 3 UK, the 771 part will be different depending on your network).
Secondly what firmware were you on before flashing a custom ROM onto your phone? were you on 1.26, or 1.28, or 1.29? you will need to have the relevant stock recovery and RUU for your firmware version. If you can't remember then what is your hboot version? if its 0.43 then you are most probably on 1.26, 0.94 should be for 1.28, and 0.95 I believe is for the 1.29 variant.
you can unlock your bootloader again using the same unlock.bin file from the HTCDEV site to flash the right stock recovery onto your phone, then relock the bootloader again and then run the RUU. This should bring you back to almost factory defaults.
you should be able to find the right RUU from THIS thread, The right recovery from HERE and disaster recovery tutorial from HERE
And next time PLEASE READ UP ON HOW TO DO THIS STUFF, BEFORE ACTUALLY DOING IT.

and yes i have the unlock.bin that was sent to me by htc can u please be so kind and tell me step by step how:1-flash my unlock.bin
2- then flash the stock recovery for my device thanks alot alot in advance really appreciate every one that is trying to help thank u guys
you can unlock your bootloader again with the same unlock.bin file you got off the HTCDEV site and using the following command in command prompt: fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin ... the signature error could possibly point to having the wrong stock recovery. did you flash the 1.29.401.11 stock recovery?
Edit: could you post the link to where you got that RUU from? I might possibly be able to extract the recovery.img file from it, as I think the 1.29.401.11 recovery might be wrong for you, you might need the 1.29.415.11 recovery to be flashed...

You shouldn't relocked it on the first place, because from what i read at the OP, you have your phone unlocked and rooted..if you follow my guide, my friend, you will have a fully working phone again..do you even read it..

[Q] HBoot update

Hey,
I've got an HOX from T-Mobile and the CID is T-mob101.
The HBoot version is 0.96.0000.
Is it possible to update the HBoot? At the moment i can't use Android Revolution HD because even after flashen the kernel first and then the rom it doesn't work.
The phone is rooted and still S-ON.
Would be nice if anyone could help me.

If you have a backup, you can restore this and make the official update and after flash a rom.
Or, you can see if there is a firmaware.zip for upgrade your hboot

Hey,
Thanks for your answer.
But where to get such a zip?
I don't have any backup...
Maybe anyone else?

Here is teh link to the firmware collection.

You can found the firmware.zip here or you can see if there is a backup for your cid, here
Sooo,
1.
I tried to restore a backup of my cid T-mob101 but even after the checksum5-check and the "restore complete" there is only an bootloop...
2.
When I try to install the firmware.zip there is only "can't open bla bla installation abroted (bad)"
so it seems as if both ways don't work. Awwww I hate the Telekom

1) Have you flashed the boot.img??
2) you have to flash the firmware from fastboot and not from recovery, you know how to flash a firmware??

See the second link in post by bartdely...
You have to relock the bootloader, reboot in ruu mode and flash the firmware
After you have to unlock the bootloader and flash a JB rom
Sent from HOX
Hey,
the CID of my device isn't listed in your link. So I tryed to relock and flash the firmware but it fails.
If I try the second method I don't update the HBoot...
I already had an Rom with 4.2.1 on the HOX (IceColdJelly) but I wan't to update to use another one.
So for me there is no way to update the HBoot version? What the heck, is this possible. :'(
Muff(in)
Step 1: Flash a new JellyBean Sense ROM of your choice --> current Android Revolution HD
Step 2: Flash a custom kernel --> Downloaded zip in Recovery
Step 3: Flash boot.img --> via OneClickTool
Step 4: Reboot
Click to collapse
--> boot progress starts --> nothing happens....

There is the firmware for your cid in my first link in my second post

Sent from HOX
Everything works.
Thank you.
