I'm running a Sprint Galaxy S3, I went from fully stock ROM / Kernel to CleanBean v4.0 and I have noticed some issues with my LCD, At first I thought it was my Kernel, But then after reading through all the comments on CleanBean thread no one has my issues. So I'm not sure what is wrong with it. But this is what it does, When I'm not using it for awhile and the screen is off, I randomly will grab it and start to use it. And it will "Look" as if the phone has shut off. (Screen won't turn on etc) But my LCD notification lights are still on and blinking normally. So then I have to power button it for a long time, Then it will finally reboot. This has happened about 4-6 times so far and only when I'm not using the phone. It has yet to screw up like that during use. So if someone knows what could cause this please help me!
Is clean bean AOSP? If so, is it using the 3.4 kernel?
If not, did you do a clean flash to CleanBean and check the md5sum of your download?
EDIT: Nvm, just found the thread
Make sure it wasn't a bad download

Have u tried flashing a different ROM to see if the problem is ROM related? I tried clean bean and personally didn't like it very much after using ROMs like TPR, MOAR , and goodness.

I'm not running Clean Bean, here's my experience. I know that there are some apps that are poorly coded... In particular, there are some games where if I turn the screen off while playing, will do something similar when I try to turn the screen back on. When I press the power button, the hard keys light up but not the screen. I think it has something to do with how the app handles the screen-off (sleep)/screen-on (wake) commands.
Are there any apps that you use regularly that might be causing this?

No I have not yet done that. I was hoping it was something simple to fix. I will try that though. Do you mind pming me links or posting here the Roms you like and that are good? I'm new to the GS3 so I have no clue what ROM's are good.

I do have alottt of games on it. But I do remember never leaving the screen on in a game..Might have done that with Firefox or something but not a game. I'll test it a few times with games / Locking it etc. Thanks for that idea.
Just tried MOAR ROM, ReFlashed it 4 times. Boots up to Recovery on restart..Then I restart it from recovery and then it sits there for more then 15mins. So I'm out of ideas, Other good stable roms out there?

Hi All,
Just flashed Calk's 2.9 rom and noticed that when i go to the stock browser on the five icons on home, it turns off my screen, Only way to gain functionality of the phone again is to hold power button and reboot. Not sure if its due to flashing a new modem FB21. Anyone else experience this?

Does you screen cut out when you select the default browser grin the app drawer, too?
The answer may be to try flashing again...

Hi Everyone,
First I would like to say how much I love Frosty JB and that this thread is only to help make it better.
I would like to report some issues that I have seen and see if anyone else has had this as well.
1. I was getting random reboots saying invalid SIM
2. Screen would flicker when Hardware overlays was not disabled.
3. In ICS there was an option on the setting of call for configuring the Native SIP this has disappeared
4. Camera shutter not making the shutter sound anymore
Can't wait for the next release V4 of Frosty.:good::good:
If anyone else is having other issues I would like to hear about it.
THANKS AGAIN

Alright. Best way to be helpful is pm the rom's dev about bugs you find.
Once you get your 10 posts you will get better support posting in the rom thread. Until then just do what you can like now.
Couple things you can try, redownload the rom and reflash. Make sure youve backed everything up and factory reset before flashing. This will give you a clean install and rule out any compatability issues with apps or data.
If you are still having sim problems use Odin to flash back to UVALH2 stock and if it still has issues you may need to exchange the sim or even the phone.
I dont think 1. has been a common issue so i doubt its the rom. The rest are likely related to it being a jb leak. Youll find out faster for sure by scanning through the last 10-15 pages in the thread.
Good luck with it!

1. Don't think that is a ROM issue (might be your hardware). But best bet is to to fully wipe everything and do a clean install them wipe cache dalvic and fix permissions reboot and wait 10 minutes then reboot again.
2. Flicker comes from the kernel (uvli6/uvli7) it has much better battery than uvli8 so we accept rare flickers. Easy fix by disabling hw overlays (video wont work while disabled though).
3. Idk but i think that is just how it is on jelly bean. Nothing to do with this ROM but literally all jelly bean roms.
4. This is a known issue with acid sound mod not the ROM. You can delete the acid sound mod find the apk with a file manager or titanium backup.
Gotta use the search option my man!

Hey,
my phone are rebooting for a week now. I've try install a new ROM, but keep doing. Like this: it works cool, turn on the wi-fi and stuff... but when i open the browser, the phone reboot! And when i try turn it on right after the reboot, goes to the Samsung image and turn it black again.
It's the Kernel? Maybe the transition on the CM9 to the CM10, without taking any specific and may needed care?
Or i f*** my celphone...
Thank you very much, and happy 2013

Hey there,
Unfortunately I have another problem with Liquid Smooth. I tried searching this bug with no luck. The screen flickers rainbow stripes (best way I can describe it) when I launch the camera from the lock screen, when I hit the power button on the lock screen and occasionally when I go into settings. Any ideas why this could be? or is it just a know bug? This happened much more infrequently on 2.2 but still happened.
Let me help you rack up 10 posts, and then go ask in the thread as this is rather rom specific. If anyone in there is able to recreate it after you post, then it's an issue with the rom itself

2) On 2.2 I did a clean install, updating to 2.3 I did a dirty. But it still happened on 2.2, 2.3 just made it happen more often.
3) Yea downloaded using goo, flashed with TWRP as per usual

Issue seems fixed now. Completely factory reset and reinstalled a few hours ago. Seems to be working fine! Weird how it was happening before update though as well and then happened more frequently after. Thank you Whiplashh and Cnexus for your help!

I am experiencing the same issue with the LiquidSmooth 2.4 for Verizon. I recently did a clean install this weekend and everything was fine until the screen started flickering randomly. The flickering looks like white noise with different colors lined up horizontally. The only constant to this issue seems to be tied to the stock android messaging app.
Have you guys tried going into developer options and ticking that H/W option I think that's what's its called lol haven't been on aosp in a while but that helped my issues when I had it

Hey thanks i was having this issue on my verizon gs3 and checking disable HW overlays is deloper settings seems to have fixed it
Hello!
My name is KJT (on the net) and I have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy SIII t999. When it came to me it had stock 4.0.4 Android. First thing I did was Root/CWM recovery it so that I could Wi-Fi Tether and have a custom recovery.. I found nothing wrong with the phone and it did everything I needed it to and more! At the time I wasn't willing to customize my firmware because I didn't really care.. Two(almost 3) years passed by and so much has changed in the modding community. So I checked on faster ROM's for my device and found so many to pick from! I didn't know what to pick.. I tried a couple of ROM's, but I found myself going back to SlimKat 4.4.2.build.3-OFFICAL-3061 and WOW was I surprised at how the look and feel made my phone like new again.. I now say to my friends that I upgraded my S3 into the S4.. Not really, but its "like" I did, with a software update. Heheh..
Anyways back to my device.. After updating to SlimKat I found some things a little weird with my phone, but nothing I couldn't figure out (except one thing that I will get into a little later). There was a couple things screwy with it and I had to research for a couple of days to find the answers. After fixing the small issues I wanted to fix the CPU issues and why it would throttle when I played a game longer then 5mins.. I found the option and disabled it, but it seemed to drain my battery way faster with it off. I then looked at new kernels for my phone and what would work good for battery and for performance. I found KTweaker and realized that installing SlimKat changed my model number to Samsung-SGH-I747. So I installed the Kernal (3.4.82-cyanogenmod-g9a7e2a6 [email protected] #1 Sun Mar 9 16:16:31 MST 2014). It seemed to work really well, but I see the LED blinking Blue on bootup(and stay blinking) every time I restart my phone now after installing this Kernal. So I tricked the LED to turn off by using Light Manager's test notification option. Once I turn on test and then shut screen off, the LED turns to the color I was testing in Light Manager and the LED turns off.. So that is the trick, but if there is anyone that can help me understand or fix the Blue LED that stays blinking after boot up, I would really appreciate it. I have no other apps that control notifications, and I have tried turning off all LED options, but nothing seems to work. The only thing I can do is trick the LED..
So after that, I decided I would try and find another Kernel/Tweaks, but after flashing Xtweak it seems to be running a bit smoother. I am stuck no with only one issue and that is the Blue LED flashing at boot and staying on until I trick it. KTweak app (Not XTweak) that is listed in the menu had some crazy OC settings and profiles. Now I think I am set with my CPU issues. I played my game Order and Chaos Online(GAME PLAY) for 4 hours yesterday with no lag and the CPU never throttled.
So my only problem is the Blue LED at boot.. I hope to figure it out and I will report back if I find the solution. Thanks for reading.
------------------------------------------
::UPDATE:: March 01-06, 2014...
------------------------------------------
First off the LED blue light has been fixed with a format of the internal memory and flashing a new rom. I believe the problem was with Slimkat ROM and Ktoons kernel on build 3.
I have SlimKat Build 4 now after some internal data lose(system/data/cache and most of my personal data from the last month... lol). I recommend not trying to fix your phone at 3:am and tired.. I had a back up from last month, but I know I lost a lot of other stuff I can't remember, but I think it was a good thing, because my phone is now running faster and with a lot more space on the internal hdd. So I guess I did a system restore with updating to Build 4. I am really enjoying build 4 and haven't come across any problems. I have not installed KToons kernel yet, but he has updated it and I will try it out when I have more time. I will update later. Thanks for reading..

I do need the notifications turned on, but when ever I restart my phone the blue LED light(top left cover on face of device) continues to stay pulsing way past boot. I use to see it only pulse a few times at boot and then it would stop and load the OS. It only started happening right after I flashed the KToon kernel. I love the kernel and it make my device so much better then it was before with the SlimKat kernel.
I also have tried many different steps to stop the pulse at start up, but only found that if I trick it and put on another LED notification, then it stops after I make it change to the other notification.. Its almost like it gets stuck on the notification for boot up. I uninstalled all apps and also reformatted.. I was thinking of another kernel install, but have not found a better kernel(even with this issue) then KToons..

Yup, i've been flashing on Galaxy's since the S2. After the S2, Samsung released identical hardware for all carriers, including the international edition. The only software you had to worry about is recoveries, Baseband, and if on T Mobile, the TW version if you wanted Wifi calling.

My wireless calling works fine and I am on T-Mobile network. So I guess I did everything correct.. lol
Still trying to figure out the Blue LED at boot....
UPDATE!!!
Ok, so I found out that it was the Ktoons kernel that was giving the notification Blue LED at start and wouldn't go away. I guess it was set to notify at start, but then never turned off. This is now fixed because of a flash to the new build 4 of slimkat.
So the issues that I was having before with the LED was only because of the kernel I flashed on a slimkat rom. It worked great, but had the LED issue.
::UPDATE::
Ok, now to talk about my new updated build 4 slimkat device.
