[Q] Why is my DEVICE ALREADY UNLOCKED???? - HTC One X

Hello There fellow pro XDA Users i am in pretty desperate need of knowing if my Device is original or not, so please!!! help me :crying:
i have bought a new HTC One X 2 days ago from an authorized Dealer here in Bangladesh(they said themselves as authorized even though i have not found any info of them on htc web )
Anyways i bought the device checked all the things needed from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923016
and they all seemed okay so i was fine and bought it
But after trying to root my device and opening bootloader i WAS SHOCKED that my DEVICE IS ALREADY Unlocked!!!WHY???
Also The Device seems to be from Switzerland ORANGE as my CID is ORANG216
also i am getting pretty big lag spikes when playing dead trigger and gangstar rio is it because my device is FAKE?????
also because of staying out of htc service i cannot recive OTA updates so i tried to manual OTA from here that matches my CID http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606676
and thats when i found my problem
i have attachted my bootloader image and clockworkmod image please see them
also my software info
PLEASE HELP me so i can atleast try to get a refund
:crying:

From what i have been told earlier some dealers root the phone because of missing local languages in the software. Don't know exactly who or what, but that's my experience with an older case i read about a while ago. That guy told me that it was pretty normal......i just find it strange !
The only thing you must check is what kind of warranty you are entitled to. Because HTC will now no longer support software problems on the phone. Only real hardware problems will fall under warranty. But that's also sometimes a what grey area.
We can get you back to full stock and updated to Jellybean if you wish ?
Edit : its imported from Switzerland ? Then they did this to add languages indeed.
Are you on orange provider too ???

Even my device is imported (Sealed) from Australia.. I'm from India.. So I don't have HTC warranty...
However, I have ebay seller warranty and he has said he will replace the device with no questions asked in case of hardware failure...
So, in your case as well... I think it's pretty much the same thing?? You don't have HTC warranty... but dealer warranty... You should have clarified this with your dealer...

firstly no i am in no way in orange i am in GP(local SP here)and i also dont know if it WAS ported from swiss
so umm does that mean that the device is not fake i mean its just weird that an intact device(they cut the HTC poly and seal in front of myself) has unlocked bootloader
also about the warrenty yes i clarified it with the dealer they said that there is no replacement warrenty but if any problem does come up in a year (hardware or software) they will fix it so does that mean i don't need to get refund...what do you guys think?
also there are other strange things in my phone for example the phone CID is orang216 so it should display switzerland in its region but instead its displaying arabic and saying that the device is htc_ara (via app device info)
also the dealer used a special steel tool to cut my mini sim into micro with one press lol(machine looked kinda odd )
also if your talking about localization then there is arabic fonts installed here but not our country language though
also did you notice my boot radio is none ????there was supposed to be something written on it huh?
SO my final guess is that the dealer himself imported it from arab htc and its selling here though why does it have an swiss CID instead of arab?
so i am the only one with out of the box unlocked bootloader version here???? AND also it means that HTC NOW won't care about my device huh??? :crying:
AND LASTLY since my bootloader is already unlocked do you think its best to directly switch to a custom JB rom then the OTA JB??? and if i do wanna switch to custom rom can give me tutorial from beginner level and all the precautions i have to take? (is it even possible for me to go to a custom JB from my stock ics and old 0.95 bootloader??)
MAN I NEVER SHOULDA BOUGHT HTC IN THE FIRST PLACE :crying: :crying:

A lot of people do buy unlocked HOXs, what you could do is relock it if its really bothering you. Run the correct RUU, from fast boot, and it will relock your phone and give the original software etc
Sent from my HTC One X TEGRA 3 using xda premium
Using CM10.1

yes after a while now and a lot of research i gound out it is common also the no radio was a problem with my hboot 0.95(its normal)
thanks for all the help this question is closed
Please mods close this thread

Wouldn't be complaining, saved you time. Also some have soft bricked thier phones in attempting to unlock.

One thing I'd be worried about, is your H-Boot. Thats low....

He has successfully updated his Hboot and has ARHD running now! He had created multiple threads.... so this can be locked!

Ahhh great.
Glad he's all sorted another one ticked off the list.
RUU is easiest HBOOT update method for anyone who happens to come across this thread with same issue.

Whoa man chill, One X is probably my Best Buy yet.. :good:
You could always relock your bootloader, install the stock ROM and get OTA updates...
And upgrade the HBOOT Please -.- even mine's already 1.36 :silly:
But still that's a surprise you get new One X with unlocked bootloader
You still can get dealer's warranty though...

However, for a person who is new to the world of rooting/upgrading and stuff and finds out his phone has been tampered with, it can be really frustrating!
Nwys, forum rules come before that! So.....

Can a t-mobile tp2 flashed with a cdma rom be brought back to a gsm radio rom?

Hi. Can a T-mobile HTC TOUCH PRO2 (US version) which was stupidly flashed with a SPRINT CDMA ROM be brought back to GSM by reflashing it with a GSM flash ROM file using a PC running Windows? If so, where can I obtain the flash ROM file from, as well as the utility to flashing it back with.
PS: HTC Techs wouldn't help me except telling me to send it in so they can charge me more than I already paid for this phone already. Thanks in advance for helping or trying to help.

Well, my "know-it-all" buddy who's had great success with tinkering & flashing my other phones, B-R-I-C-K-E-D this one. Now he and I have been through the gamut on trying to reset this TP2 with the problems listed in another thread here using forum members' suggestions as well as the resetting tips for this model found on HTC.com with no success. So I had a thought in my sleep. Maybe, just maybe, I can reflash it?
Symptoms: There is no screen on this phone now. My PC tries to recognize it for about 1 minute or two, after it displays it's hardware signature in Device Manager 2-3 minutes showing up as "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" with an exclamation point under "Other Devices", then, the phone's hardware signature disappears from my hardware list in Windows 7's Device Manager listing. It didn't do that before.
"My Other thread" referring to all I did in trying to revive this phone with the help of other members here.

You should be able to connect the USB, go into bootloader mode, and then run update the ROM. You should probably run task29 first to clear the memory. If you can't get the USB to work, you can flash from your SD card. Check the first several posts of the ROM forum, rather than this GENERAL forum.
find an official T-mobile HTC TOUCH PRO2 rom and flash it.
and if your device has hard-spl then you can flash any full gsm rom.
some roms here

Nope no good. These tips all expect some sort of interactivity between the use & the phone present like being able to go into bootloader mode or expecting something visual on the screen. My TP2 doesn't do anything after flashing it with the CDMA process (provided by the Rhodium.htc-unlocks.com website), except turn on the little orange LED ever couple of minutes until the battery just dies out.
You now have a nice paper weight or brick. Flashing a cdma radio and/or bootloader/unlocker is NOT reversible. If you had only flashed a cdma rom then that could have been reversed.

If you cant get into bootloader I'm almost certain that means the phone's bricked. I realize that's likely not the information you want to here but you need at least a FEW things working on the thing to be able to flash it to a different rom. Bootloader being one of them.
If you cant get into bootloader mode, then i dont currently know any other way of reviving the device at home.sorry.

RMA usually it's totally free you only have to pay to send in the phone. I know cause I did the same thing kind of... I flashed a GSM rom on a CDMA phone and totally bricked it. My phone connection led didn't light up when connected. Then I call HTC, they sent me to call another company that handles US Cellular and got it RMA paid only shipping.
If your led connection lights up there might be a possibility you can flash your stock rom with a clean Micro SD Card. Just search for this method on the forums, it has been a working life saver to many.

The only thing that might work is to go back over the the CDMA forum and find out how the CDMA version invokes the bootloader. Maybe it is different than the GSM version? If you can't get to bootloader you are in trouble.

Bear in mind that (I believe) the OP said he Hard-SPL'd the device. I've seen numerous tales on here, of HTC declining to repair under warranty in those cases, citing 'Illegal software'. They usually then quote a couple of hundred dollars to change the motherboard, or a fee to return the phone unrepaired (the fee is their charge for the diagnostics).
I have the same error. Any new guess? In my country there aren't HTC repair stores
hi all:
anyone here know how to reboot the tmobile tp2 after I think I brick it? probably flash with wrong rom. now the phone will not turn off. stuck at "stick together".
Thanks

[Q] Two One X's - not the same?

Hi - I'm in the UK and have bought two One X's from Amazon. The first is fine, the second isn't (it was bought in the Amazon Warehouse and is pre-owned but "as-new").
1 The first phone found the 1.28 update immediately on setup after connecting to wi-fi. The second won't update, even after doing a manual check and is still on 1.26.401.2. From what I've read if the phone is "unbranded"/not originally locked to any provider it should be ready for the update. How do I check this?
2 The LED on the second is tiny - it's the size of the end of a pin whereas the other phone has a much bigger, more visible light.
Thanks in advance for any questions. I have searched for similar problems but came up with nothing (sorry if I missed answers that are already posted on here or elsewhere)
1. Flash the 1.29 RUU - job done!
2. Can't say I've noticed this but you could be right
Thanks, but I'm hoping not to flash this device. Is there any was of checking if the phone is tied to a provider or why it doesn't want to update to 1.28?
If it's running x.xx.401.x then it's an unbranded handset so flashing the RUU won't affect anything with regards to warranty as it's the official ROM file. OK, it means wiping the phone but at least you're up-to-date!

Ok, thanks again. I was really hoping to figure out what the problem is here so I understand how the updating works - if you say I do infact have an unbranded handset, I don't understand why it won't update. Does the update server go down occupationally or does it just mean I have an issue with the handset itself?

[Q] Radio and OpenDSP have "INVALID-VER-INFO" beside them. Is this normal? Need help
I just recently purchased the m8. I did lots of research learning everything I could before doing any modding. So today I decided to unlock my boot-loader so it was my first time getting into recovery. But when I get into recovery I see both radio and OpenDSP have "INVALID-VER-INFO" beside them. Its never been modified and I got it from t mobile and was the first to open the device. Not a second hand phone. Is this normal? I've been googling for hours and cant find any information. Its been sort of difficult getting any help in the htc M8 help threads honestly. If anyone can shed any information I would greatly appreciate it. I haven't noticed any thing wrong with my phone out of the box and everything about the functionality of the phone has been stellar.

I think something is off on that phone. I unlocked and s-offed mine and the only thing different was the os is blank but everything else was fine.
But if u have no actual problems with cell reception or audio then maybe u just need to update the firmware to latest after u s-off and that Will fix u up. More than likely.
Let me know I have done a lot on my phone allready. I even switched it to a dev edition just to get the 4.4.3 firmware and then flashed my backup back to my Rom of choice.
I'll help if I can. I notice there ain't many people helping on this forum there all on the international forum

I appreciate that. I just didn't want to s-off since I dont do any heavy modding. I was just gonna unlock the boot-loader, install custom recovery root and flash arhd. I don't think this is normal either for a brand new phone that hasn't been touched software wise. I might go exchange it at t mobile. This is my screen

I understand about the s-off but really it's the best thing to do because if something ever goes wrong there will be nothing stopping u from fixing it.
Also I was gonna suggest taking it back but they might trip on the unlocked bootloader and if u fastboot oem lock it Will say relocked. So they will know. But it's worth a try. T-Mobile doesn't seem like they know anything about technical stuff. so if you try to explain to them they might look at you like they don't know what your talking about.
I seen the picture if it is still locked take it back. And show them
Your firmware is allready the latest so that's a factory f-up.

More than likely. No apology needed. Thank you for helping me out. I was able to s-off and get everything back to stock. Boot loader locked not "relocked" , s-on, unrooted. But the "invalid version" message was still there. I just came back from the tmobile store and they ran some diagnostics and said there was a problem with the software. They exchanged it for me and I checked it before I left the store and this one is perfect. I even asked for them to run the same diagnostics and everything checked out fine. I'm gonna do even a little more research before modding this one. I'm a little nervous now ..lol....but again thank you!!! I really love the M8. I came from the galaxy note 3 from att and sadly att locks the boot-loader on it. I love the note 3 just not on AT&T. I'm trying to sell my AT&T note 3 to buy a tmo version.

There's a whole lot u can do but most of the info is in the international forum.

Probably not but everybody just gets to unlocking and s-offing so fast they probably don't notice.
It's probably just the ones coming with that firmware out of the box.
When I got mine it had a different version.

M9 bricked (doesn`t POWER On) after flashing a wrong ZIP-file via TWRP...Please HELP

Good morning
I`ve got a really big problem and don`t know if I`m able to solve it or if I have to send my phone to HTC..
I rooted the m9 and got S-Off through the sunshine app. Then I wanted to flash a custom splash-screen via cmd but it didn`t work.. I tried something else and that turned out to be really stupid:
I flashed the zip-file from here android-hilfe.de/thema/how-to-splash-screen-aendern.433411 which normaly was created for the m7 only with my m9 through TWRP and did a reboot..now my phone went OFF and I couldn`t start it again...till today. That means that I`m unable to start anything. Off course there is no connection between phone and computer, too. The phone is still OFF and I have tried many different things to restart it but without success
As I said before, the phone was rooted and S-Off. Everything else is still on stock. I think it `s the unbranded version from Taiwan. The CID was HTC__621 but I`ve changed it to 11111111.
If there is no way to fix this, where should I send the phone? Directly to HTC or back to the online-store where I bought it a few weeks ago?
Hope to hear from you soon..
Thx in advance and best regards!

I'd have to look at the partition maps to know exactly what you did, but those recovery flashable zips for the M7 used the dd command to write the splash partition directly. Problem is that it's in a different location on the M9. It sounds like you overwrote something critical doing this.
So yes, your phone is likely dead. Only HTC or a repair shop can fix this.

I agree with this, never flash ZIPS not meant for the M9 at all.....now you should take your phone to the vendor, but then they will take phone to HTC anyways and delay more time to replace/fix..........
My recommendation is to take phone underwater for 30 so it can get impregnated with water in all the inside and if available for your vender or HTC directly, use the Uh-Oh warranty available for the device....i live in mexico and i know of many people have used this methos to replace the phone whenever they have f****** the phone by flashing..... heres the link for more info:

That's not a good idea. The Uh-Oh protection only exists in the US. He said it's a taiwanese model. So how should he be able to use the Uh-Oh protection under these circumstances?
Edit: Sorry. Didn't want to sound rude. Corrected my post.

Yes, dont you worry didnt read that "taiwanese" part of the post, and yes, the Uh-Oh protection is only available in America I guess, also available in my country Mexico and my Carrier Telcel, hope evreyone may enjoy this opportunity as well.
I'm sure OP has disposed of his phone by now, but I finally looked at the maps to see what happened here, and hoo boy was this a goof. The M7 recovery script writes the splash to p13. Guess what p13 is on the M9?
aboot
:crying:
So yeah, you're going to hardbrick your phone trying this. Going to add a big nasty warning to my M7 splash thread.

Any chance you could change your updater script to do by partition name instead of a static block number? It's not common, but HTC has in fact added partitions over the course of OTA updates that can renumber the existing ones.

With over 100 splash files in that thread, it would be a lot of work. People should know not to flash things written for other phones, not that it seems to stop them from trying. There are and have been warnings in the OP about doing it.
It's not an issue for the M9 since splashes have to be changed in fastboot unless you use scotty's mod to remove the write-protect on the splash partition (something I don't recommend for anyone other than advanced users).

Help needed, company denying warranty due to rooting (never rooted)

Hello! First off, i have never rooted my LG G4 since i knew the phone was full of bootloop issues etc and i wanted to avoid exactly what is happening to me right now. I returned my phone to the service center last Friday because the screen's right side stopped displaying correctly (many colorful pixels with a perfect vertical border). On Tuesday they contacted me claiming the charge to repair is a whooping 244 euros due to it not being covered by warranty. After a lot of talking with LG over phone they claimed that in order for me to repair my phone free of charge i would have to provide them with proof that i have not rooted it (i dont know if that is even possible). Soon as i got it back in my hands (obviously denied the repair) i installed a root checker apk which stated my phone is not rooted (apparently thats not considered proof). However, the service center provided me with a photocopy of what their machine indicated, that i was rooted and told me that if i could return the phone without it being indicated as rooted i can repair it free of charge. I live in EU and i dont know how i could pressure them to repair it as is but the only other option i can see is flashing a factory stock firmware. What do you guys suggest i do? If i have to flash the stock firmware are there any dangers if i get the correct firmware for my model (h815 with the v20h-eur-xx software)?

no, bootloader is locked. They also denied any affiliation with the developer lg website until i pressured them more over phone, where they said they cant know if the bootloader website is official and because its not the only way to unlock the bootloader and root, the fact that i have never entered my imei there does not prove anything...

however, it seems rooting is possible without unlocking bootloader, so i guess thats what they meant... Isnt there a way to get root working via recovery?

this is the photocopy, just cut out IMEI and the name of the service representative in case it was confidential or anything
So this should be the firmware and i should flash with LGUP? https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/kdz-firmware-v20h-switzerland-2016-09-08-t3457824
I mention the model and running firmware at the end of my original post

under European law, you should have the option to go to your dealer/phone company and demand that they have it repaired. I remember reading that signs of unlocked bl/rooting only affected claims where software could have damaged the phone (like overheated cpu). I don't see how software could kill the display, though.
So, maybe try this, but inform yourself if you are covered and, if you are, explicitly state to your vendor that you want it to be fixed under this law instead of warranty (which is not required and may be subject to arbitrary preconditions by LG)

I told them that its obviously a hardware problem, to which they agree... The issue is, they claim its a mobo issue that was most likely caused by rooting and unless i can prove otherwise, thats how it is...

why not go to lg direct?
unless there is complete indisputable evidence of root they cannot deny your claim.
plus lg suposedly has extended waranty to 2 years again if bootloaders never been unlocked flash stock firmware they will never know
tell them to do there studies if ure not on a rootable firmware anyways no way that u could have been rooted
unless u bought the phone used and someone else did something major to it?

I talked about it directly with the bobs at lg customer support and they claimed the above.
phone was bought in a sealed box... Thats what is weird... I flashed the official v20d firmware kdz via lgup software update. I would love to flash a tot file since its prolly more thorough (pure speculation) but it seems theres no europian 6.0 tot... Anyway, now i installed the other official firmware (phone started spamming me with "update... stopped working and that google services stopped working) i factory reset and it seems to be running smooth. Will try taking it to the service center again tomorrow and see from there... (every visit not covered by warranty costs 7 euro....)

how old is the phone?
If it is less than 6 months after buying it that you notified them of this error, they have to prove (not claim) that the error was caused by you.

sadly i have the phone for a bit less than a year...
In the end i flashed the v20d software version and took it back to them. They accepted to repair it under warranty due to it not being rooted. (They also suggested to me from the service center to flash a stock firmware... Thankfully i had used xda in the past but a casual user would have it tough...) Now im waiting for them to receive the mobo from LG... So thanks everyone for your support
P.S. Woman at service center insisted some playstore apps root your device. She knew 2. When i asked she replied ... Buybox and superuser. I just smiled and left
