toroplus stock rooted ROM - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Is there a flashable zip of the latest Google stock (not AOSP build) but rooted ROM for the toroplus (Sprint GNex)? I looked in the sub-forum and could find anything. I need to troubleshoot GrooveIP and the JB Audio APIs that I suspect the current custom ROM/kernel I'm using has issues with and the GrooveIP dev says that it works fine on stock.
Thanks for your help.

considering its dead easy to root the phone yourself, why dont you just download the factory images and root it yourself?

Yes, that was my next plan, just wanted to make sure I'm not missing the obvious. I've seen devs post stock rooted ROMs before and didn't want to duplicate the work if already out there. I do not want to do a full phone restore to stock, just the stock ROM and kernel.

I meant the "Google Experience" as the devices come from the factory, with all GApps, Chrome, etc. The official Google image if you will.

Returning to stock from Vicious 4.1

Having LTE problems with flashed 4.1 vicious rom. So trying to go back to ICS. I am using the current toolkit 7.8 but when i do option nine it is unable to extract the tar file from the tgz. It dowloads the file it just wont flash it? Any suggestions or easy answers to returning to ICS thanks!
Why not put the latest JB on the phone? Get the images from Google and flash them ADB (the only way to do it), it takes 10min max.

IM going to try it.. at the risk of sounding like a noob.. which i am .. i will ask anyway. How do you flash via adb? Im guessing I cant use the tool kit for this and other than flashing zip files in recovery im unaware of how to put these on.

Using any tool but the official Google ones is like playing with fire, why not do it the right way?

By stock images you mean they don't come with the extras Verizon adds?
The question is: Can a Verizon user flash the CDMA/LTE images from Google and have a functional phone?
I believe the answer is: Yes.
Personally, I had no issues flashing the GSM images downloaded directly from Google in my phone purchased from Play Store. It should be the same for Verizon binaries.

Take a look in the android dev sections to this forum. If you ever update once rooted, you should be flashing a new ROM (clean or dirty flashing) to receive the next update. Running stock ROM in between a Sammy update and while having the older ROM without the newest update will yield that result.

There are plenty of reasons for rooting but remaining stock (such as: tethering, Droid wall, Titanium Backup to allow me to backup and restore app data, removing bloat, etc).
I have flashed custom rooms in the past on my Evo but right now I am happy with my S3 at stock.

I was in the same boat at you. I put it off for a while but finally decided to update tonight. I followed the steps posted here.
You can update your baseband by flashing a properly packaged official baseband zip, or flash from recovery tool (my preference), like the one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29820376. There are also unofficial, or leaked basebands, available to flash from all-in-one zips, such as the one here: http://goo.im/devs/freeza/Galaxy-S-fre3-LIGFirmwareModemAIO.zip.
As far as the build version goes, that does not have to match your baseband (modem). Most of the ICS ROMs are LG8, although there are some LI3 ICS ROMs to choose from. There's also a leaked build of Jellybean, builds LIF & LIG, with a third leak LIH reportedly coming out tomorrow. Once rooted, you can update your build version by flashing the ROM of your choice, based upon the build of your choice.
One of the top developers, and probably the greatest asset to this community, is freeza. He explained the difference very well here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32095775
That's a long-winded response, but I hope it answered your original question, and helps you out.
Have fun!
Edit: Once you're rooted, you'll still receive OTA update notifications, which will continually annoy you until you choose to update and reboot. Once you reboot, the update will fail because of your custom recovery (you will NOT lose root) and the notification will go away....until the next OTA...

Excuse me for my stupidity but I'm new to android. I'm also using the sprint variant of the s3 and have it rooted with stock rom. However my build number is IMM76D.L710VPALF9. I'm assuming the last 3 are the update versions. What is the current version and how do I update to it?
Also, I'm rooted with Clockwork mod 5.5.0.4. How do I upgrade this to version 6.0.1.2? Will I have to unroot then root again?
Thanks for clearing anything you can up. Don't mean to pirate the OP but I figured I'd post in this thread rather than make a new one. Thanks again.

That is one of the reasons that I am rooted... so I can use WiFi Tether. I do not it much. Hardly any data at all. But when I am in a spot and need a wireless connection and I only have my phone it comes in handy.
Some other reasons:
- DroidWall: Lets me block individual apps from accessing the internet.
- AddFree: Block ads in some apps.
why would you do that?

[Q] Return a Verizon GNEX to stock(ish)?

Ive been running Cyanogen10 Nightlies on my Gnex. I initially did so, so i could get JellyBean on there, verizon hadnt released it yet for the gnex. I like Cyanogen, and ive been using it on just about every android device ive owned for years.
Verizon has now released 4.1 for the gnex, and im curious about how the stock rom compares to Cyanogen. Im drawn to the simplicity of running a stock rom, but only if its got all the features id llike.
So, i'd like to know if theres a CWM flashable version of the stock JB rom for the Verizon GNEX floating around. Ive tried browsing around the forums here and havent found it.
I'd like to be able to backup cm10, flash the stock rom, and restore my backup if i find that i dislike it.
Thanks!
just fastboot flash the stock images.
Go into cwm, backup and restore and make a backup, then copy off the whole clockwordmod folder to your computer to backup cm10.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Use the above link and download the stock image, flash using fastboot.
Beamed from my Grouper.
what they said. just fastboot flash to stock.

Hey, thanks a lot. I'm not the newb you might think I am. I had a specific question that i didnt find covered elsewhere, that is, is there a cwm flashable version of the stock rom.
Seems that answer is no.
I'm a long time android user, a linux hacker, but not exactly an android hacker. So when i'm not sure on something, I ask.
Thanks to everyone who's posted useful info. Going to attempt the fastboot tonight i think.

[Q] Tmobile update on stock rooted rom

Can I let the Tmobile Update download and flash if I am rooted on the stock ROM and have Clockwork recovery? I would use ota root keeper to disable root also before the update.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
When it is rooted even if you try to use the OTA update it won't let you, while rooted, you could alternatively flash the update via ODIN w/ root support. Or try some of the sweet ROMs available , the reason I switched to a custom ROM because I was going to have to erase my phone anyway if I wanted to update, so I thought why not just try a custom ROM?
I use LiquidSmoothRC7, but if you want a more stock feel with touchwiz you can try Wicked, Wicked stays true to the "official stock ROMs" and just adds roots and tweaks the ROM to make it as stable as possible
If you are rooted, with a custom recovery, there is absolutely no reason for you to be playing around with Odin or OTAs... your updates are available in the development section

Actually there is. There are 10 partitions rewritten with the Odin and OTA update. Only 5 get rewritten if you flash via custom recovery, so you don't get the full update.

go to doc's thread, flash his firmware update, reboot, then flash whatever JB ROM you desire. there is absolutely no need to ODIN your phone with the OTA fw, resetting your device completely. you just need to make sure you flash the latest firmware first before you flash a ROM that is based off the latest OTA

Some of those 10 partitions that are getting rewritten are... for one, your recovery... so that makes 9 actually...
My point is, and I'm not trying to be argumentative in any way, merely objective, is that unless it is reformatting the ext4 partition to new file structure (for example) there should be no need to do this. I suppose I would ask somebody to define in depth "rewritten" and how exactly this is being done and why. Every single update we have had since the release of this device I have not once updated my own device with odin merely to put it back to stock. And I have run into zero issues. Seems like a waste of time to me unless there is something highly critical being restructured entirely. In the end, its all the same disk, and disk size for any given partition.

If you are on LH2, with that same baseband, I would go ahead and update your baseband via docs packaged update in his thread, and just reboot, then move on to the jelly bean updates. Do a factory reset through recovery before you flash the JB ROM tho since you are coming from a completely different version of android.

If you want to avoid all the weird miscellaneous problems listed in the Q&A forum, update using Odin and the rooted rom in Docs' thread. If you choose not to use Odin do not be surprised if odd things happen.
Just stating my experience, I was rooted stock ics and ran the ota update. I was able to update, keep root and ran stock jelly bean without any problems at all.
Now I am running frosty jelly and still no problems at all. I am not saying for you to do it (dont want anyone blaming me) just stating that it can be done. Do whats most comfortable for you.

Again looking for some technical clarity here. Haven't had a single issue myself. With anything. And I have not factory odined my device once since I got it. It is not critical to do this, otherwise I would be suffering from "weird miscellaneous problems"
Hopin doc can jump in here and set me straight if I am wrong, but it seems to me you will be fine just updating your radios and then moving to the latest build (4.1.1) as long as you clear data before flashing your ROM of choice

The file used to flash with Odin is much larger because it is a complete rom. The OTA is a patch that attempts to patch and modify existing files.

You are either not running a stock ROM, or you are trying to flash a takju update on a yakju ROM. Have a look at the OTA update thread in the General section. There are instructions on how to replace the system files. (Easiest would be to flash the system.img file from the factory image of the version you are currently running, and then the update will install.)
By the way, the GNex was not even out in summer 2011...
