Has anyone been able to get the WiFi tethering to work after updating to JB? I tried freezing the Tethering Provision but that did not work.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks in Advance!

I am running the stock rooted rom (AT&TULCG1) debloated with Aroma. I was wondering if there is a WiFi tethering flashable/installer that we can use? Or do we just download one from the play store. I know that the custom Roms usually have this feature, but stock is working fine for me.
Thanks in advance!

FIX!!! EDITED POST!!!!!!! AS OF NOVEMBER 16
WI-FI HOT SPOT FIX!! Encrption enabled!!!
I did it this way and it worked for me. I downloaded this app supersu and installed it with superuser also installed.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...infire.supersu
Apparently the supersu adds more permissions than superuser which helps this app to work. I then opened the modded Wi-Fi tether app and supersu will ask u if to allow this app. Accept it and then try the Wi-Fi tether app. Encryption will not work. I have my settings to the Samsung galaxy S 3. I also changed the network name to something else aside from android tether. I then uninstalled supersu. I then reconnected to the wifi tether app and it works flawless. Again ENCRYPTION WILL NOT WORK.
Dls5375 post has the link to download the modded wi-fi tether app. Hope it helps.

do this:
make sure you have installed busybox( stericson) latest version. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=es (install the app then enter the app and install modules and then reboot)
uninstall tether modded app, then install superuser(different from superU) from play store( yeah you have to have both superuser and supersu, at least that worked for me).Open superuser, now close it( just hit home button), install modded wifi tether, dont touch anything just hit the start tethering.
Now it will work, rebember not to use encryption just enable acces control and it will be just fine.

So..this is my latest tragedy....JB broke this...I tried the Sprint version (TroyE?) and it no werkie either. We need a hack ASAP! Else I roll back to ICS.../sigh
It would seem the latest JB update for TMO has closed the loophole for Wifi Tether.

Same here, updated to stock JB with superuser access - wi-fi tether is not working anymore.
This was the only reason I needed the superuser. Is it possible that T-Mobile added some service controlling this feature? I think they did this on S1 or S2 phones and we had to freeze that service.
I have just installed the modded wifi tether app that works on JB. I don't know how to upload it here. Send me a message so I can email it to you guys.

I am just like you that is the main reason I need root. I rarely tether but its always good to have it there in a just in case. I tried every way possible on the wifi app and nothing. My wifi still has ics and it runs perfect on her phone.
Anyone got a fix for this?

Use a WiFi tether app. WiFi tether for root from the Playstore, or the Trevor? version of it on xda. If you can't find them let me know and I'll get you the links a little later.
EDIT: Found some links. One has the TrevE WIFI tether that some people use.

This. WiFi tether seems to work well for most people. Be aware that after turning it on you will probably need to restart the phone for wifi to work again afterward.

On the galaxy devices i have used these apps and the moded hotspot and never had to reboot to get on wifi. Is this a common issue on the LGOG?

It's common for our JB. Any stock ROM requires a reboot per WiFi or tether.

The new version of the Wifi Teather App works without having to reboot. Just enable Wifi Driver Reload 2 option under settings.

What settings are you using? Every time I have Wifi Driver Reload 2 selected, it won't tether properly. It looks fine on the phone, but the computer won't pick up the signal.
I've used PDAnet and haven't had any problems switching between hotspot and back. Hotspot works great and switching back is easy (no reboot). I use it all the time for my tablet when no WiFi is available. Just thought I'd mention it.
I have flashed several different 4.4 roms and I can't get the wifi tethering to work. I have tried the native built in wifi tethering and also Treve Mods wifi tethering app. It turns on for me, my laptop recognizes it but it can never connect to it while using the native tethering app. I have read that for some people it is working just fine. How did you get it to work? Thanks.

Are you doing anything special to get it to work? I've literally tried every single 4.4 rom out there and can't get it to work on any of them lol. It's the only thing keeping me on Touchwiz.

No, native works like a champ.

Is it working on Omnirom now?
Anyone got it working (either native or wifi-tether or other app) on the Omnirom nightlies? I presume it should work if CM11 is working but wanted to make sure- one of those vital things for me....
