[Q] Sprint hotspot switch

Does anyone know of a way to control the app wifi tether with the stock hotspot widget?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I use SwitchPro widget.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
SwitchPro, or perhaps Beautiful Weather. Forget if it has a Hotspot widget or not. I know it does have everything else though.
How do you configure SwitchPro Widget to control Wireless Tether? I just tried and it activated Sprint Hotspot instead.
I would like to know too

I'm still wondering how you configure SwitchPro Widget to control Wireless Tether.
I guess there is no answer
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'd just make a nice looking shortcut to it using Desktop Visualizer..Something like the attached icon, for launching the app.
Wireless Tether as in the built-in tether, or the Wireless Tether for Root Users app? I know Extended Controls can be used to toggle the built-in Android hotspot (i.e. not Sprint's).

Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Sorry, I misread your OP. The 'Extended Control' uses the Sprint Mobile Hotspot. (No, I am not subscribing to Mobile Hotspot plan from Sprint but it works for me). I am rooted and running latest Calkulin's custom ROM.

Nandroid and give Calkulin's ROM a try. That is what I am using. It works on his ROM and can be turned on and off using Extended Controls widget. No hassles.

[Q]What program do you prefer to tether 4g or 3g

At a hotel looking to avoid some nasty wifi charge, have full 4g and 3g what are my best options for apps? What would e4gt-xda do? Thanks in advace!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Thr Sprint hotspot hack baked into every ROM.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Yeah im finding that pretty good, is there any 4g comparable apps?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
if u r rooted and have a custom kernel you can flash aio mod found in the developers section it has a hacked sprint hotspot apk which allows you to use the 4g you are already paying for without forking out extra money for the hotspot
if you are rooted you can try using android wifi tether from http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list just download the one with the most downloads...
if you are not rooted go into the android market on your phone and download clockwork tether its a free two week trial...please note you will also have to download a seperate program to run on your computer which you will obviously have to download from you phone and transfer to your computer...the links to this are on the application page in the android market...i will mention that i just recently learned that our phones have difficulty download certain file types...to get around this download "download all" which is in the market for free...it does just what the name implies....
i personally recommend using AIO which is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390304
if your not rooted clockwork tether is your only option

if you have the hotspot hack it already uses 4g...if you only want to use the hotspot hack disregard the link i gave you for AIO and use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394371 instead
you still need root and a custom kernel for this
Rooted on calks 2.8.1, rogue stock thanks will give those a shot

Galaxy S3 rooted, need Wi-Fi tethering advice
I'm a new & proud owner of this phone, and thanks to advice found on this website, owner of a rooted S3 in less than 30 minutes. But I've been trying all the suggestions for setting up a Wi-Fi tether to little avail.
I just downloaded & installed the mod version that was the last suggestion made. It installed fine, and actually shows up as a SSID but I cannot get my laptop or my old EVO 4G phone to actually connect to it. I left the settings on default, other than changing the password of course.
Any suggestions or hints?
Lee
Link that I have posted, still working and my S3 is working with tether app. I have been using my laptop and other devicec without any issue.

Wifi tether app.

FIX!!! EDITED POST!!!!!!! AS OF NOVEMBER 16
WI-FI HOT SPOT FIX!! Encrption enabled!!!
I did it this way and it worked for me. I downloaded this app supersu and installed it with superuser also installed.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...infire.supersu
Apparently the supersu adds more permissions than superuser which helps this app to work. I then opened the modded Wi-Fi tether app and supersu will ask u if to allow this app. Accept it and then try the Wi-Fi tether app. Encryption will not work. I have my settings to the Samsung galaxy S 3. I also changed the network name to something else aside from android tether. I then uninstalled supersu. I then reconnected to the wifi tether app and it works flawless. Again ENCRYPTION WILL NOT WORK.
Dls5375 post has the link to download the modded wi-fi tether app. Hope it helps.

do this:
make sure you have installed busybox( stericson) latest version. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=es (install the app then enter the app and install modules and then reboot)
uninstall tether modded app, then install superuser(different from superU) from play store( yeah you have to have both superuser and supersu, at least that worked for me).Open superuser, now close it( just hit home button), install modded wifi tether, dont touch anything just hit the start tethering.
Now it will work, rebember not to use encryption just enable acces control and it will be just fine.

It would seem the latest JB update for TMO has closed the loophole for Wifi Tether.

Same here, updated to stock JB with superuser access - wi-fi tether is not working anymore.
This was the only reason I needed the superuser. Is it possible that T-Mobile added some service controlling this feature? I think they did this on S1 or S2 phones and we had to freeze that service.
I have just installed the modded wifi tether app that works on JB. I don't know how to upload it here. Send me a message so I can email it to you guys.

Use a WiFi tether app. WiFi tether for root from the Playstore, or the Trevor? version of it on xda. If you can't find them let me know and I'll get you the links a little later.
EDIT: Found some links. One has the TrevE WIFI tether that some people use.

This. WiFi tether seems to work well for most people. Be aware that after turning it on you will probably need to restart the phone for wifi to work again afterward.

What settings are you using? Every time I have Wifi Driver Reload 2 selected, it won't tether properly. It looks fine on the phone, but the computer won't pick up the signal.
I've used PDAnet and haven't had any problems switching between hotspot and back. Hotspot works great and switching back is easy (no reboot). I use it all the time for my tablet when no WiFi is available. Just thought I'd mention it.
