Hi,
I searched whole Galaxy Note 2 Forums for my question but did not get direct answer. My question is
Can I use AT&T Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-i317) in India and get 3g data as is without making any modification to Bands?
or
Should I enable AWS (TMobile 3g/4g) bands in this phone to use 3G in India.
If anybody is using this phone in India, let me know how / which carrier in India are you using.

Depends what bands your carrier uses. The phone (without the AWS hack) supports 850/900/1900/2100 MHz for 3G.

I thought it supports only triband for 3g (900MHz being unavailable). Can you please confirm that SGH-i317 supports 900MHz for 3G.

I can't confirm that it actually works, other than this screenshot from my i317 (I did the AWS hack, which is why 1700 MHz comes up). GSM carriers in the US use 850/1900 (AT&T) and 1700/1900/2100 (T-Mobile) for 3G. So I can't see if 900 MHz works:

However, I don't think the phone will show bands that it doesn't support, so it should work. I have a hard time believing the phone is only Tri-Band, when my Galaxy S3 i9300 is quad-band (850/900/1900/2100 MHz) UMTS.
I know that the Verizon version works with 900 MHz because on Samsung's websites, it's quad-band UMTS. Yes, the Verizon version can also do GSM. It comes unlocked as well. You just have to use root and an APN application to add your carrier's APN, or just install a custom ROM that enables the APN menu.
I actually had the exact opposite question. I am planning on buying the Galaxy Note II (N7100) in India and I wanted to know if the 3G facility would work for any GSM provider in the United States?? I wanted to know if all the N7100 models (including the ones in India) are Quad band 3G. If so I guess the AT&T 3G should work as quad band would be compatible with the 850/1900 frequencies used by AT&T. Any help in this regard would be appreciated. I hope to be in the US from September for studies and thus wanted to be sure Id be able to use this phone for 3G there.

Im using the att note 2 i317 in india on airtel network. Currently on cleanrom MA4 . Speed is decent. I get anywhere between 4 to 8 mbps during good signal

Thanks for confirming. I was worried that I will miss out on 3g because of this 900MHz.

I travel India frequently and have US (AT&T) and India (Vodaphone) SIM, I just swap the sim and everything works great. I am on cleanrom 4.8. No issues and great Internet speed in Mumbai. Even I was able to do RDC without any issues.
Thanks.

Can anyone explain to me the differences between the 5100 model and the 5110 model?
Thanks in advance
5100 supports data over cell networks (GSM, HSPA, & LTE)
5110 is WiFi only.
Based on the specs on GSM Arena, there doesn't seem to be any other difference. But that website is not always 100% correct.

The differences in the models is the connectivity it has:
5100 - 3G version
5110 - WiFi version
5120 - 4G version
I recently purchased a Samsung 10.1 P605 LTE version tab. I am using a LTE sim which operates 4G on 1800 Band. However all the time I am getting 3G, H or H+. The Network mode appearing in settings is WCDMA/GSM (auto connect). It does not have any option for LTE. Does it means my hardware or software doesn’t support LTE? When I check the model number in about device it gives as P605 which represent LTE model. I have the Android OS v4.3 (Jelly Bean) latest update? Can somebody throw any light?

I used 4G in mainland China on my 8.4 T325 no problem.
I use 4G on my Note 3 (straight talk on tmobile towers) no problem.
I put my 4g sim card into my T325, then I updated the APN settings, and It only fluctuates between H+ and 3G, no 4G at all.
I have reset the APN settings several times, turned on/off roaming, rebooted several times, I can't get it to display 4G.
I triple checked compatibility and it should be compatible with t-mobile (straight talk) 4G but it's just not working.
Any ideas?
You may want to ask in ST thread on howardforums.com, also.

The SM-T325 does not have the hardware to support the bands required to get LTE in the USA.

Look down the threads for one on LTE in the US. You will get HSPA+ at best because of the available LTE bands.
Hello

and i have device Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5100
i check on gsm arena , this device can 4G
but , i can't switch 3G to 4G ( no in list )
if i flash rom , can my device switch to 4G? thanks before
there are three different note 8 model
1- n5100 which is 3g
2-n5110 which wifi model (no simcard)
3-n5120 which supports 4g
so your model n5100 doesn't support 4g
