[Q] GTN-5100 vs GTN-5110 - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Can anyone explain to me the differences between the 5100 model and the 5110 model?
Thanks in advance

5100 supports data over cell networks (GSM, HSPA, & LTE)
5110 is WiFi only.
Based on the specs on GSM Arena, there doesn't seem to be any other difference. But that website is not always 100% correct.

5100 - 3G version
5110 - WiFi version
5120 - 4G version

[Q] Who works E250 modem/RIL port to N7105?

I have N7105 LTE model in Korea.
But Korea SKTelecom LTE band is 850/1800. Major LTE band is 850, sub band is 1800
All know that N7105 default LTE band is 800/1800/2600
So i want to flash E250 modem to my N7105.
(Just modem only flashing, because korean mobile operators are too many customized. I hate it.)
How can I E250S modem flash on my N7105?
Hopefully you get a decent advise, as i on the other hand have a E250 purchased in Taiwan, and would like to flash it to N7105 as reception in Canada with the current setup is horrible and LTE don't seem to work.

Oh, dears
Thanks for your reply and i know your pain.
LTE band problem is i know that Canada LTE use 1700/2100/2600.
So, if your carrier using 2600(Rogers) you will use only 2600, other LTE band 1700/2100 is not recognized your E250 on 7105 ROM.
Because N7105 only support 800/1800/2600 bands.(E250s is support just two bands, 850/1800)
Thanks

I wasn't aware of this when i was buying the phone ((((
On top of that, when i did the latest update i bricked/wiped all settings for the N7105, none of the ROMs through ODIN would take (i would get a FAIL message)i had to do Kies factory update which reverted the phone to E250.
Many of the ROMs would not be accepted by the phone, even after ROOTing. Still trying to get it on the acceptable level as the SKT setup gave me very poor reception.
Is there a way to change the modem operating frequencies by adding a ROGERS modem for example?

[Q] Is the Note 8.0 (n5100) a quad-band phablet?

I'm looking into getting the n5100 from Asia to use as a Phablet on the Telus network (850/1900) in Canada.
I've been looking online to confirm whether the phone is a true quad band that would work.
On the Samsung UK site (only place I found spec on the 3G version), it says it's depends on regions. And there aren't much resources online listing whether the N5100 has specific models that are quad band vs others that are not.
Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Where are you getting yours, if Hong Kong only LTE version n5120 unless you bought gray market N5100 which is import from somewhere else.
I just received my N5120 LTE and use it on rogers. LTE working fine I think it only work on the 2600mhz the other band is for Europe and Asia area, so you have to check with telus if they have the 2600. I also test 3g and it work without any problem but same issue, it is tri band 3g, and only 850mhz the other band is for other area.
For n5100 form Taiwan Samsung website, is said it support 3g quad band 850/900/1900/2100mhz just like my Tab 7.7, so I guess you will not have any problem using it on Telus.
They are releasing an att version soon. It will work for you
N5100 from India is also quad band (3g+wifi )

[q] n5100 vs n5120

I just ordered an N5100 to use on ATT b/c I wanted to be able to use the device as a phone. But after looking up the specs I think the 5100 is only 3g.
The 5120 says it has 4g, but I wasnt 100% sure it also did voice.
If I order a 5120 will it still work with voice on ATT?
Thanks
I've used my n5100 as a phone in so singapore , Indonesia, Japan, and Australia.. 3g is fine for a phone.. If you want LTE go for the 5120.. As for using it on ATT I have no idea.. I bought my n5100 in Thailand unlocked no contract and used prepaid sims only

OK after a ton of searching I think I figured it out. On samsung's page they say the 5120 uses LTE Bands 3, 7, and 8. For the data only Note 8 LTE that ATT sells they say it uses bands 2, 4, 5, and 17.
So based on that I'm going to guess it won't work.
The AT&T model has a different model number, the 5120 is an international model.

I know, I figured the ATT model has the proper LTE bands, and if the internation (5120) doesn't have the same bands, it probably wont work in the US

[Q] Are all N900T LTE capable?

I would like to know if all the N900T are LTE enabled or if there is a 3G only model and a LTE model, and if there is how to differentiate them.
I'm looking to buy a N900T in ebay but only a couple listing actually mention LTE capabilities, while a lot of the listings mention 3G capabilities, so I'm a bit confused here.
I can't find any info on different versions of the N900T, and all the info I've found points to all N900T being one model with LTE capabilities. is this correct?
thanks

Yes I'm aware that the N900T is the t-mo version, and that is the one I am interested in as I'm looking for bands 4 & 7 for use in Mexico with Movistar (B7); and Telcel (B4).
So if I read your response correctly ALL note 3 have support for LTE, Bands depending on specific model?
thanks

For Telcel - you would be better getting the N900w8 Canadian/Mexican version -- This version also has the ability to root without tripping KNOX and upgrade/downgrade to/from 4.4.2/4.3 - Which is nice -- Check out @polish_pat's guide over on the international Note 3 forum if you decide to opt for this model :good:
EDIT: Side note, not ALL note's support LTE - N900 Exynos do not support LTE as they have a different CPU.

Thanks for the suggestion, but besides the point that N900W are much harder to find, my main carrier is Movistar, Telcel is my "backup" mainly for my mifi liberate hotspot. I also travel frequently to the usa so I have a prepaid T Mobile SIM I also use, so for my scenario I think the N900T is the best option.
thanks

Some countries don't use it I guess - Samsung introduced the Exynos on the S4 I think, and done a Qualcomm model also which we know as Snapdragon 800 with LTE

I use my T-Mo unlocked Note 3 in Mexico on both T-Mobile and Telcel with no issues. I get LTE speeds with Telcel. I wasn't aware Movistar had LTE yet, but I only use them if I need a throwaway phone, which given my lack of illegal activity is never.
edit - I'll post a video on Youtube later of my Note 3 on Telcel's LTE using speedtest.net

The SM-N900T Note 3 supports bands 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), and 8(900)
The B series LTE bands supported are B4 (1700/2100) and B17 (700)
It doesn't look like there is much of anything you can do since the SM-N900T doesn't support the LTE bands that are used in Asia.

How to use Sprint note 4 on LTE bands 3 and 7?

Hello!
I have an unlocked sprint note 4 which I use outside the USA as a GSM phone with a sim card.
So far so good.
The problem is that this phone being produced for sprint does not connect on 4G.
I have been reading about the possibility to change the NV values to be able to add LTE bands to the phone and I was able to change those values but still no luck.
In my country, the 4g network works mostly on bands 3 and 7 (1800 and 2600).
I am starting to think that probably the sprint version might have differences in hardware with other 4G capable phones.
Can anybody tell if there are any hardware differences between the sprint note 4 and other note 4 models.
Do you think that the sprint note 4 has what its needed to connect on 4G on the above frequencies?
If yes, what might be the right approach to try to resolve this.
Thank you for reading and since this is my first post on XDA please help me!
Yes, because of Sprint Spark it only uses 26 and 41 bands, 1900mhz and 2.5ghz respectively. FDD-LTE and TD-LTE are unique to Sprint and they are big enough to have the phones shipped this way. For flexability yoh should move to a GSM model phone.

Heh, what you think about this thread.
Especially about the history of success adding LTE bands 4/14 in SGS5 SM-G900P from Sprint?
Samsung SM-G900F - added LTE band 4. Confirmed operation on new band
Samsung SM-G900P - added LTE band 4/14

Its worth giving a try for sure. You do run the risk of bricking your NV and losing signal altogether. However, I have done this successfully using DFS CDMA Tools on an old Samsumg Cappy from AT&T back in the day. *Disclaimer: proceed at your own risk*
After further review, and some trial and error, the above listed mod only works with GSM phones. Your Note is a CDMA version. Please do not try.

I understand but since my note is a CDMA how can you explain that it works fine for GSM and data in 3g ?
What might be the hardware difference with the international version that does not allow my phone to work in 4g in my network?
I am assuming that they use the same chip-set and the problem is only soft based.
