I have the OG Droid RAZR with grandfathered unlimited data on Verizon. My next upgrade is in May 2014. A local retailer has the Verizon Gnex at only $430 (full price, new.) So I am asking Gnex owners whether you would spring for the Gnex now, if you were in my position, or wait one year to see what's available then. I like my OG RAZR, but the Gnex is appealing to me.

You're better off waiting, the galaxy nexus is showing its age and is quite likely to lose its official support from Google soon.

You could go on craigslist and buy a used one in good condition for half the price of that. And u will be OK till may. 430 bucks for a phone that's that old is ridiculous if u ask me.

If I weren't stuck in a Verizon contract, or if Verizon offered this phone, I would definitely be interested in the Nexus 4.

Mm alright, To answer your question: don't buy the Galaxy Nexus. It's a great phone but it isn't worth 430 dollars - anymore.
430 is nuts. Buy one from here if you really want one.

Just picked one up for 150 on Craigslist. You can get S3's for under 300.

$430 for a Smart Phone is just unbelievable, I personally don't know what I'm going to do when I want to get a new phone ( I currently have a Galaxy Nexus with Unlimited Data). I guess I will be a couple generations behind and wait a good year and a half. I can justify buying a smartphone for $200 dollars. You can actually buy a new Galaxy Nexus on Ebay for $200.00 I would do that if you need a phone right now.
I appreciate everyone's advice. You have some very helpful people in this forum!

Since you like your current phone and not in a hurry; I'd say wait for the Nexus 5. It's unlikely to be revealed on tomorrow's I/O but should be released by November or something, and should come with Android 5, So it's worth the wait and I believe you could get an unlocked version from Google Play Store for less than what you are willing to pay at the moment.
like the person above said, I suggest you wait until the next nexus comes out in November. Plus, $430 for the galaxy nexus is outrageous and you could get it for $200 in craigslist or ebay.

I have Nexus S and software speaking GNex and NS are almost the same, ignoring the few advantages GNex has because of the hardware.
My sister got Galaxy S3 few days ago and now I want a new phone as well lol. Since I'm gonna dump a $***load of money, and I much more prefer Nexus dev phone rather than TouchWiz or anything manufacturer related, should I wait for the next quad core (and better camera, since that 2 things are bugging me about GNex) or buy this one.
I know how having a Nexus rocks, all the roms, tweaks, ports available for my Nexus S are just awesome, so I can imagine what to expect for this one or the future one!
I'm asking this because you guys have it and know it.
I almost ended up buying Note but stores jacked the price here, so no... currently GNex HSPA+ is around 300€ - 350€ here, unlocked. Thanks!

People need to stop obsessing over quad cores especially when the newer dual cores are on par with them.
Because I can, and I was bored.

I guess that's the cool thing about a Nexus phone, even when the next one comes out, this one will still be relevant.
It's not like the jump from dual core to quad will be as significant IMO as single to dual.
Such as the GNex can and will leave the N1 and Nexus S in the dust in the following years, the next Nexus will take much longer to leave the GNex in the dust.
Clearly under par GPU on nexus ...wait for the next one and hope its better! Then buy it
Note that the price of the new Nexus could be twice as much compared to the current price of Galaxy Nexus.
But if money is not a problem, buy this, then buy the next Nexus when it comes out
Just wait it out. As good as the GN is, it's not that big of a jump from your current phone.

Why would HTC pay you market value for a phone when they make phones? The guy on craigslist who would buy your phone doesnt have millions of phones at their disposal.
With that in mind, its a generous offer.

This would be worthwhile for someone who doesn't want to deal with people on craigslist. I can see why some would not. I don't have time to answer 50 emails all asking if I'll take $150 for my immaculate-condition phone that is worth much more.
Luckily I can ask my wife to handle it usually but not everyone can.

I have a GSM G-Nex and love it, as well as my $30 T-Mobile plan. Unfortunately for some weird family plan related reasons I may grudgingly go Verizon. The only phone I have had my eye on as of late is the Nexus 4, but that is not an option. What is a good alternative? I like big screens, and up to date software, and I usually flash custom ROMs from this wonderful site anyway. (only running stock right now because 4.2 is really nice, great on my battery).
Gnex, gs3, or wait a week and check out the new HTC coming out.

Droid DNA, GS3, & Note 2 seem cool. Verizon G-Nex could probably be had for very cheap though. I hope I can just adjust their family plan and not have to join. I went prepaid because I had to, but now I really really don't want to go back to contract/locked-phone land!
I like the Note 2, if the bootloader gets unlocked I think I will be jumping on that one.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised to see the Nexus 4 eventually hit VZW, but who knows.
Ended up putting off switching until my GNex died a violent death. The Moto X has been a worthy successor thus far, 3 days in.

Hey guys,
Just curious to see what everyone is planning on upgrading to once they decide to move off this phone?
I want to wait for the galaxy s4 but I'm impatient Haha
Does the lg optimus g have a strong development community?
Other than these two are there any upcoming high end android devices worth looking at?
Thanks
Really, it depends on Sprint and when they'll bring LTE into my area. If not by coming summer time, I'll probably move onto the Nexus 4 and hop on T-Mobile. Although, if LTE has arrived on time.. I'll stick with Sprint and probably see what's out by around October (my upgrade).
Probably gonna go with whatever is out by then, the rumored S4 and (doubt it) Note 3. I do like the LG Optimus G though.. I went over to their forums for a sec and there's not much going. But the phone is still a bit new, just wasn't really marketed as heavy as the S3. So the development for that is slow, IMO.
S4 probably. My carrier depends on Sprint. If they don't have LTE, or at minimum network vision, in San Diego by September I'm gone like a bad habit.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
My upgrade is around July. I am satisfied with this phone though so I'm awaiting an announcement for this year's nexus phone.
The S4. I can (hopefully) early upgrade in May with the (possible) release of the S4 for sprint. My area is confirmed to have network vision rolling out during the spring time so an LTE phone is given then. Not to mention my brother, mother, and father wants to upgrade (evo 3d / Evo 4g / Nexus S 4g).
I'm going with the nexus 4. The galaxy s 3 disappointed me in the radio department and sprint has pissed me off with their refusal to refund the activation fee after I returned the phone. So I'm going to use the petaband feature of the N4 to jump around prepaid gem carriers and use it internationally too. Plus, after my nexus 7, I promised I would always buy a nexus.

Gotta the minimum : 5" screen , 2GB ram, 1280 x 720 Resolution, Dual or Quad Core, Front facing camera and etc... because once you root em, THEY'RE ALL THE SAME!
Depending on the manufacturer, the next nexus, the xperia z looks real sexy, My upgrade isnt up til august of this year, so by then im sure we will have some info on the SIV, my options are quite open.
I'm going Nexus 4 all the way from now on. Well when my contract ends in 10 month, but thinking in paying the ETF soon

I wonder if Samsung will call the next galaxy a 4? Some Asian countries consider 4 an unlucky number.
Going with the nexus 4 and using its pentaband to go to any gsm carrier I want. I won't need to buy a new phone for a while.
And anyone thinking about passing the etf buy a cheap sprint flip phone. Downgrade your plan to a basic plan with the flip phone. Sell your e4gt. Then after a few weeks you can cancel your contract for half the fee. Your e4gt will cover the cost and probably give you some extra cash

Just found out Verizon has lte at my apartment where I can't get a bar of sprint 1x... So saving up for a note 2 but kind of hoping for a better PHONE to come out. The note 2 is kickass but I don't know if I can really deal with that every day. I can barely touch the to left corner of my epic touch, and it's caused me to drop it a few times. Luckily this phone is a beast and has barely any damage even after having been dropped from waist height numerous times.

Can someone tell me why anyone would pay $350 - $400 for a new Galaxy Nexus when the Nexus 4 is already out? I see these phones selling like hotcakes on Ebay and Amazon for $375 on average. I own one and I own a Nexus 4. For the same price I would much rather have the 4 even if I had to wait a while. That's not to say the Galaxy Nexus isn't a good phone, I like it just fine, it's just that at the same price point it doesn't make sense to me to not get the 4 which is an upgrade in just about every hardware aspect.
I see them used still fetching $250 - $300 which I suppose is more reasonable but I would think $200 - $250 would be more appropriate for phones that have over a year old hardware and some light scuffing, etc..
Can someone enlighten me as to why this phone is holding onto so much resale value at this point?
I feel like I must just be missing something. Thanks.

Part of it is due to the higher original cost of a Galaxy Nexus. Also the N4 is very underpriced from Google Play. Optimus G is msrp of $549.
