Hello there;
I just started to receive a message that there is an update available from my carrier ATT. I have a rooted note 2 with stock ROM with (Perseus-alpha35-CWM) for o/c.
Should I update? And if so, how do I go about doing it with out messing up my phone.
thanks in advance :good:

You have to be on stock recovery. Its just a kernal and modem update. If u do a search you will see threads about it.
Sent from the TermiNOTEr 2!

I checked for the ATT software update today (i am on Base Rom) and it downloaded the update but it was not able to install i saw that it went to a TWRP Recovery mode..
I have the Note 2 Rooted with TWRP Recovery.
Can some one help me how to get past this one?
You need stock recovery to install OTA updates. TWRP will not install OTA updates. Look for flashable .zip of the update.

You answered your own question. You can't do the update on custom recovery. There are flashable roms in development.
Edit:
Lol. 30 seconds late on response.

Till now, the only way to get a rooted jellybean on locked bootloader is to flash a prerooted firmware or create your own prerooted firmware
here is a tutorial for same

If someone posted an Odin flushable TAR, otherwise you'll have to flash the zip in the recovery.

How will firmware updates be handled? I know if I was on att I should freeze the update files so I don't get their latest update, but do I have to do anything on tmo? I am guessing I won't get any OTA updates as I have a custom rom and kernal, and have an att phone on tmo, yes?

Thanks, I thought so. My phone is so freaking confused they couldn't update it if they tried. But boy am I loving it!
I know there was a guide in the AT&T forum to ensure you don't get the update.
Might want to search there just to be on the safe side.

Yes, that was the one. I have to believe that as long as I am no longer on ATT, they can't get at me, even if they tried. Boy do I hate ATT and so happy to leave them.
