Sprint G Nex OTA update problem - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I just flashed mysidspr-fh05-factory-8cb5208b image, unrooted and locked the bootloader so I am now on complete stock 4.1.1. When I accept the OTA it downloads but during install I get the dead android. Any ideas? No root and locked bootloader so there should be no issues right?

Try reflashing the stock recovery over the one that's in the 4.1.1 package
To do this use the gnex toolkit by mskip
I had the same problem when flashing stock 4.1.1 and trying to update
Its a problem with the stock recovery verifying update signatures

[Q] Would rooting with Odin prevent OTA updates?

Hey, I was wondering if only rooting my phone ( I still have the stock rom ) would prevent my phone from receiving OTA updates? My wife and I bought our phones at the same time, mine was even activated first, and her OTA update, which includes the wifi calling, came tonight, and I haven't seen mine.
So I was just curious if it is still going to come eventually, or if I need to just flash the updated version of the stock rom? Thanks
You will get the update regardless of what rom or recovery or rooted or unrooted.
Now in order to install it ota you need stock rom and stock recovery though. If you rooted and installed cwm recovery then you need to flash stock recovery.
If your rooted. On stock rom. And stock recovery(like I was) then no worries just install away.

[Q] Any way to flash latest updates (GSM) without wipe?

Hi all,
I got my Galaxy Nexus GSM over a month ago now and got an OTA update straight away to 4.0.1. However I decided to flash the stock OTA 4.0.2 when it waqs released the first time (bootloader unlock and rooted).
However that update cause major lag on transitions and menus (forget the thread but it screwed many devices it seems).
Anyway it's re-rolling out again now and I'm thinking about giving it another try. I don't want to lose my data however.
The question is simple...is there a way to flash the update without wiping data?
Cheers
1. Back up using adb backup (use search to find the thread)
2. Flash stock 4.0.1 then wait for update or ditectly 4.0.2 image, then restore data using adb restore
3. ???
4. Profit!

OK, so in other words no.
Here's a question then...when people get their OTA updates does it wipe their devices?
No it does not.
So in that case could I just relock my bootloader and unroot and get the update?

Yes. Flash the factory image and don't use the -w flag when applying the update.
OTA does not wipe. Either wait to receive it or apply manually.

Can you be a bit more specific - I can flash via the CW Recovery right? What method are you talking about using the -w ?
Help greatly appreciated.
I think that's the option when you flash image using fastboot
Anyway, is there any difference on latest roll of 4.0.2, compared to link on Google factory images, I was thinking doing the same today revert back from 4.0.3 custom rom to 4.0.2 stock

root/twrp to official JB update

Hi
My brother have sg3 from rogers,.. i did root on it and installed twrp ,.. we were thinking about flashing custom JB ROM, but official came out yesterday.
can we safely do OTA update, or we have to un-root it and get rid of twrp (even though i dont know how yet) )
Thanks
Not sure if you need to be unrooted, but you definitely need to be on stock rom and stock recovery.
ROM is stock, but have twrp ,... hmmm
how can i get back to stock recovery?
There is an odin package that has just the stock recovery over in dev section

Root + Original Bootloader

To root the phone I had to install CWM as the bootloader and then run a zip file to obtain root.
Because I installed a custom bootloader, I can't receive OTA updates anymore so I can't get the S3 Premium Suite update.
How can I revert to the original bootloader and maintain my root? Can I just flash the original bootloader with Odin?
Any advice would be appreciated.

No you installed a custom recovery not a boot loader.
Because you installed a custom ROM you can't get updates
To get the original RECOVERY you need to flash a stock ROM thru Odin, and to update anything stock you need to remove root to get any Kies updates or else youll get errors.
And even so I don't think the ATT S3 has had the update to Premium Suite.
(Anyone can correct me on this one)
I think only international S3 has been updated to Premium suite

you are correct on all this, jayRokk.
OP, there is an unroot video guide near the bottom of post #2 in the link in my thread. the stock, unrooted firmware can be located in the android development section.

Galaxy S3 Hangs at the AT&T logo screen

My galaxy s3 continuously hangs at the AT&T Logo. When booting it goes through the normal Samsung and galaxy splash screens then goes to the AT&T logo screen and hangs with the blue indicator light on. It also gets warm to the touch. I have finally succeded in loading twrp can get to twrp. I finally got to this point after a failed OTA update to 4.3. I am pretty sure I have it successfully rooted with the latest CF-Auto root.
I know I have 4.3 bootloader installed with the security and all.
Here are my questions.
1. What latest version of stock rom I can flash without bricking and where is the most reliable source to download it from?
a. Once flashed can I do OTA updates to later Stock ROMs? What about with Kies?
2. Does flashing custom ROMs (CM, Slim bean, etc.) stop me from being able to do 1 and 1a?
Have you tried doing a factory wipe/reset?
There is no 4.3 stock AT&T ROM that can be flashed via desktop Odin. Stock 4.3 was never released as a complete ROM the way 4.1.1 was released. Stock 4.3 was released only as an OTA update to an existing stock AT&T ROM.
You can never do an OTA update to stock from a custom ROM such as Slim and Cyanfox.
I have tried doing a factory wipe/reset and that didn't help. I believe the Rom that is/was installed is corrupt.
Can I flash an older stock Rom now that I am on 4.3 bootloader?
