Air view and Air touch - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

are the two features of samsung galaxy note2 called air view and air touch one and the same ??
also from my note 2 I am not able 2 scroll home screen or type letters in the keyboard by just hovering the S-pen over it..
whereas i can scroll up and down and use my note2 hovering future while playing a video.. so that means my S-pen is working.. then y not I am able 2 type letters from keyboards using S-pen by just hovering it as written in many websites

specially i cant perform any of these features given in the video

Read the comments on the video, it's a broken s-pen.

its broken but i heard from many people that they are able 2 scroll through home page...
i wish its all fake.. coz if its not fake it means my note2 has some problem

Yeah seriously, that's really a nice way to quickly break your pen's nib (on the bright side though, you'll get the "airtouch" always enabled!). And sort of pointless too.

Sounds like a hardware fault to me.
A friend had the same problem, it's a little triangle shape area like 4mnx4mn

Same problem here.
or... it's not really a problem for me, didnt notice it before i read this post.
Its already been noted magnetic fields interfere. Is it near the speaker per chance?

It's not a hardware fault, that's just how the spen work (the note one had a simular 'issue' too). If you go to settings and change the s pen settings from right handed to left handed it's the left corner that won't work.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Nope, when i change the setting, nothing change. Maybe it's the speeker, or the pen captor?

After hours of testin, it must be something interferencing with this corner.
When i push a little harder the stylus in this corner, Spen work but the cursor is shaky.
This would really irritate me - does it happen with every note? Or just some? And is it always the same size (4mm triangle)? And exactly where is it - is it right in the corner if the screen or somewhere nearer the middle?
If it does not happen on every note I'd be returning the phone for a new one, if it does happen on every note I'd be thinking very hard as to if it would irritate me too much.
Mine also does not respond, its where the head of the s-pen lies, so maybe there is no sensor in there.
I'm lucky enough for not having the issue.

he's right , here's a screenshot taken after trying to fill the area in with sketchbook mobile. https://www.dropbox.com/s/0h1jfkzhgy6zksh/notecorner.jpg most apps don't use that area though. ( sketchbook does )
I just checked, it works for me.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Hmmmm, seems to be only affecting some people from these replies - could it be ROM related (are you all running same ROM) or is it a true fault? If its just a ROM then there are no real concerns for me but if its hardware related........!! Would annoy the hell out of me - I love sketching on devices - I'd be returning it

Now try to fill it using a very thin pencil. Normally it's the hole right and bottom border that won't get colored (happens to me on my note 1 and 2). That bottom right corner just happens to be in the intersection of both lines which makes it a little harder to fill even with a large brush.

I tried scrolling down a page using air view and it works. Should I test something else?

So is this normal behavior? I'm looking to get a n2 this week and I want to be able to spot defects
I have a white International version, stock Rom. Airview work in this corner, but it's shaky an i have to aproche the Spen, more than in the other area of the screen.
super interesting thread would like to know if this is normal. with hover , the arrow disappears as well when it enters this "note 2 Bermuda triangle"
( tried with a really thin brush on sketchbook, same thing )

Very slow SNote application

is there any tweak or solution for the very slow response of the SNote app ? whenever I make a new note it takes more than 3 to 4 seconds just to load a new note
It's the same for me actually. So is it normal or is it just us ?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
I had a Note I (sti have it) and you should see the S Note of that... Loading a Note takes literally 6 to 7 seconds... In my Note II the pages are formed like turning the page of a copy...so smooth. ... No prob with me...
There is a delay in selecting the paint or pen brush from tool menu... is that delay you talking about

Well that delay is much greater in Note II and thats annoying....
But adding a page took lightyears on Note I...also doing anything! As much as exporting an image etc
I guess you guys have to wait a little for samsung to optimize the app.
i got a SERIOUS delay sometime using Snote with Spen....switch between brush type and brush size....draw....delay about 3-10sec....really so annoying and i found no solution....dunno why = =
I hope any developer of those famous custom ROMs would take notice of such thing

One finger zoom.

How can you disable this function?
I just want to scroll and not zoom when I slide my finger up and down on the left side. I have looked every where for a setting to disable this annoyance..
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
I actually just noticed this when trying to highlight text in an email...I use chrome and it doesn't zoom with the one finger so I never noticed it, 2 weeks later and still learning about this phone lol
my guess is that you have one-handed operation on. If you take that off I bet it will stop zooming with one finger.
Still does it with one hand operation off.

Was thinking the same thing today..... its kinda annoying in my opinion.. also my Bluetooth isn't working correctly between my phone and car or phone and headset gonna visit store in am

I have been wondering if you could zoom with 1 finger / spen. I'm gunna use the crap outta this now
This gets really annoying after awhile!

Cool I can zoom with one finger. Love this feature now since I only scroll from the middle of the screen.
Still no disabling of this feature?
One Finger Zoom
It is a simple to use application to ZOOM on your images with a simple touch, while maintaining the resolution of your images. One tap to zoom and move in different areas of the picture! All the details, with the original resolution, are now at your (one) finger, one touch and there you go!
you can download it from Slideme Market
Spam ^^ . Dolphin beta doesn't have the slide zoom thankfully.
Still can't figure out how to stop the scrolling on edges....

[Q] Keyboard too big on landscape mode

Hi, i would like to know if it's possible to resize the keyboard in landscapemode, because when I'm using whatsapp etc. it covers more than half of the screen.
A noobfriendly way to make it work would be awesome guys
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Yeah it is quite big eh... Just tried it now. But maybe as the phone is large there is no need to use landscape on it.
The portrait on this is like landscape on an Iphone lol
Sent from my Samsung Note II.
That's true but I'm used to write in landscapemode cause i have big thumbs so it would be really nice if someone found a way

How much battery Air View consumes?

Hey guys, I was wondering if this feature drains the battery significantly or not? Did a search but didn't really get any results, can anyone comment here?
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
I don't think it actually use any extra battery due to the way the S-Pen works. The s-pen is detected above the screen whether or not you have air view on or off.
You can test it for yourself by holding the s-pen above the screen close enough for air view to work and clicking the nub on the pen in with your nail, it's all to do with electromagnetism as far as I know.

Thanks for reply because Im wondering tis q asa..
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
You can even use your phone without touching it. Just put your finger over the tip of spen, and go close to your screen...
