I recently flashed the KT747 for a super fast 2.1mHz CPU overclock. But then after flashing I realized it doesn't overclock the GPU that much.
Are there any kernels that can overclock the GPU to about 700mHz?

Ah stupid me I meant 2.1ghz or 2106mHz CPU overclock.
I don't think any kernels do GPU OC, because it has shown to cause more problems than it is worth. That's just what I remember KT saying.

Most custom kernels if not all already have GPU OCd to 450mhz
Over clocking the GPU on a GS3 is not needed and even with it over clocked, you wouldn't tell the difference. It also leads to issues and battery drainage.
The S3 doesn't need OC at all 1.2Gz with 2Gz of ram leaves no place for lag.

I haven't had any lag whatsoever at any point that I've had my S3. Try reflashing your rom and completely wiping. Also try a different kernel and kernel settings.
This phone shouldn't lag at all. Maybe a little on TouchWiz but never on AOSP

My s3 lags at 2.1 GHz too. Try it at 1.6 or 1.7 GHz or change governor settings to a faster ramp up one.

You can also increase the voltages a bit in SETCPU. It may stabilize the higher overclock. Its in voltages section on top. Increase by only 10 at a time. I got 1500 stable on my Nexus this way

subjective. different for everyone and depends on temp, usage, stability of app youre running etc etc. just bump 5% at a time until you crash then drop it down one notch
You also need to disable smart reflex to hit the higher clock speeds without random freezes or crashes. I am running the trinity kernel at 1520 MHz stable with mpu smart reflex disabled.

i can't provide any input on overclocking because this phone performs so well without it that i haven't found a need to. plus, the battery life is bad enough.

really, its different for every phone. I run 1.804ghz(trinity) stable after a little voltage adjustment. and you would have to turn off smart reflex for that. you will have t read up about smart reflex.
As said above it varies. Fastest I ran that was stable (at least for me) was 1.9 GHz (Franco Kernel) but there wasn't much benefit. I'm currently on Trinity at 1.4 GHz. Trinity on 1.7 GHz crashes for me.

Out of interest for you guys on 1.8/1.9Ghz, what do you have yours so high for? Games? Just interested as I actually have mine UNDERCLOCKED to 1096 and have no 'real world' use for anymore. Mind you, I'm not a big gamer so I wouldn't know how the nexus really handles 3d gaming.

With Trinity kernel for JB, I'd guess that 1420MHz CPU / 384MHz GPU would be stable for most phones, and it gives you a good little boost in benchmarks, fwiw. That's about the highest you can run without having to remember to tweak other values. And you can knock it down to 1036 or 1190 MHz if you need to save battery. My phone tests ok with the 15xx/5xx MHz kernel, but there isn't much additional oomph in the benchmarks, so I just use the 1420. Also don't want to abuse my phone too much.
Well the faster CPU helps with n64 emulation some games need a bit more omph to play smooth

Gnex overclock
I have overclocked my Gnex to 1.6 with the glados kernel and using the glados control app it's very stable. I tried 1.8 but crashes but I would highly recommend glados very stable at 1.6 and runs a quadrant score in the 2800's

Congrats on dumping Verizon. They are the worst. I am happy to be rid of them. Trinity 1344 and Franco Milestone 5 have been the most stable for me. I currently am running Franco Milestone 5 at 1536, it's fast and stable. You gotta remember too that this phone is running Jelly Bean and a dual core which will be faster than your Dinc anyways.

You have to see the battery issue as well, if not to its will end quickly! In my opinion, use it in Stock is enough. But sometimes I get to put on 1.4Ghz CPU, and I reduce the voltages using the app franco kernel.
I was running Franco milestone 5 at 1536 nice and stable. I think I'm going to drop it back to stock-ish speeds and undervolt it a bit to save battery.

I guess my last question now would be, if I root and keep the Stock ROM, has anyone experimented overclocking the stock kernel?
And if I decided to install CWM, and keep the stock ROM, would Trinity or Franco work on that? Or would I have to install something like CM10 or AOKP to use those other Kernels.
I would rather just like to stay stock without CWM and overclock the stock kernel.

From another poster: He references using "siyah" kernel in his S3, which appears to be an international version with the same processor as we have. He indicates the need for "stweaks". He talks about GPU "steppings" so I'm not sure if Andrielux has changed these in his kernel. I installed the app "stweaks" but it wouldn't load as it said "no kernel support".
Wow!!! What in the world. Is this for real? I wonder how stable it is. From 440 up to 800?! They are using some app called Stweaks (and the kernel of course) to do it. Love to see that on our Note 2.
And since it seems that the GPU wasn't changed much....from the Galaxy s2 series... "700 Mhz - 1100 mv" is only 75mv higher than the stock 440...and accoring to the forums stable. A 70% increase in speed and stable. This is a must have for any newer kernels.

Stweaks slow overclocking but if you OC it by 100mhz laugh amd giggles numbers. What kind of actual gpu performance are you getting. I see with.stock better real life performance.during.gaming versus his kernel. So if I were to oc just to match stock is pointless to me.
why overheat the gpu when I can get the same performance on stock kernel.
It has to be the way he has it coded. Till it matches stock and further progress dev for it ill step in. I do appreciate his work and time. But for me I need something better than stock. I got this phone for a reason haha.

What kind of performance? I beat the Nexus 4 as the highest rating 3D for a GPU in the market on Antutu. And it's noticeably different. Fun for extrme gaming I guess. But it affect the entire speed of the phone too.
Did you try it yet? The kernel is EXCELLENT. Going to donate from my next paycheck to dev. Thanks again.

NFSMW, GTA 3, Heavy Gaming. I noticed it was bleh on the kernel. And stock was virtually amazing no fps in fps either even during benchmark. On his kernel the 3d test for quadrant ghe fps dipped below than 58 which was consistent on stock

Strange! I'm on Project ROM Ultra lite 1.2. Have you tried N.E.A.K? He said his kernel is set to 700mhz already (no need for STweaks). Can you test that one?

Why would I need a kernel to overclock the gpu to match stock gpu clock from stock kernel to get same performance performance. Neak is on the s3 not Note 2 unless he or it in that Rom but still.
I want a custom kernel that can match the GPU performance on the stock kernel without the need of overclocking

Should we test it? I asked him if it will work on the Sprint version of the Note 2. I can't imagine why it would not.
FYI, STweaks is working for the Perseus kernel as of build 27. My GPU is currently at 733Mhz and I've undervolted all settings by 25 - no issues.

Yep. Seems like a very stable kernel to me. But the guy above is saying that the kernel has low framerates compared to stock. I am hoping he will test the Neak kernel out.

Sorry but I will not ill be sticking to stock maybe in the future. That kernel seems weird not sure which to choose. And like I said, I don't see the point of downloading a kernel know that will I will basically need to overclock the gpu just to get the same performance as I would on the stock kernel.

Hey. I'm using the rooted stock jelly bean ROM with KT747 on my i747m. I'm wondering if there is a nice stable kernal for the i747 on stock ROM that would allow me to overclock the GPU a bit. I got my phone stable 2.1GHz at 1250mV and now the GPU is really holding me back in NFS:MW, dead trigger, NOVA 3, etc.
Is 2.1GHz at 1250mV a good OC? I noticed the default voltage for 2.1 was much higher. I had it stable at 1240mV (tested with setCPU, antutu, stability test 2.7) and ran it all day without any problems but I bumped it up 10mV just to be safe.

That's definitely strange. How would raising clock speeds hurt/not do anything? That seems pretty ridonculous.
So I have recently installed CM 10 on my S3 and I'm loving it. However i am a bit worried. The S3 is said to run at 1400 Mhz or 1.4 Ghz. But when I go into settings then performance, the max is set to 1512 Mhz and I didn't touch anything! CM sets it to this by default. My question is does Cyanogenmod overclock your device? Or is that the clock speed that S3 really runs on? My phone has also been getting hot lately but I'm not sure if that has to do with anything at all. Any help is Greatly appreciated!!!

1400 mhz is the max stock clock frequency on the international version (i9300) and 1512 mhz is the stock max freq for the at&t version (i747).
I haven't had any issues with heat. Try running an app to check the CPU temp.

The battery life is great I'm not sure why its getting hot
I would use better battery stats just to see what is accessing or CPU. Also u may wipe and do a fresh full clean install. Like I said I have mine over clocked to 1.9 with no undervolting with no issue. But also keep in mind every phone is different.
