For the past 4-5 months, I've been seeing quite a few posts regarding issues with the SanDisk Ultra 32 GB microSDHC Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card 30MB/s with Adapter SDSDQUA-032G-U46. I bought one back in November 2012... been running it hard for 6 months without incident.. so figured I was one of the lucky SanDisk recipients.... until today! Starting today, every time I wake the phone get the "sdcard mount" message. So loaded "SD Card Monitor" from the Market (screenshot attached) and found that during deep-sleep, it unmounts/mounts/removed/bad-removal/ejects constantly (example: phone slept from 10:04am to 10:22am)...but during wake state, no issues. So I suspect I'm about to experience the SanDisk 32GB Ultra kiss of death any day now. Backed up ExtSD to computer, but now the search for a proper extSD replacement. Any recommendations? Leaning towards Samsung 32GB or 64GB...
UPDATE: SEE POST # 30
Yea I just bought mine about a month and a half go. One month in of using it, my card corrupted and I ended up having to reset it. Lost everything! Lucky I put anything of importance on my cloud before it finally died on me. :banghead:

Are you having issues with dropped calls too? I was thinking I was alone, and maybe it was a bad module? I got my phone 2nd hand, and that's my next step to order a new sdcard/sim card module and try to replace it. Data works fine and never cuts out, phone calls last maybe 30 seconds, and it's killed 2sdcards already. ..

No problem with dropped calls... can still read/write to extSD fine, but now getting all the mount/unmount warning messages (and log confirms its poised for failure).

I've used this card since November 2012. Never an issue. And have used it extensively. I currently have 5 fully ripped DVDs on there now and exchange with new ones every so often. Can't beat it. Love the way Samsung/Android has allowed add on cards to be used seamlessly with apps.

FAT32... not a single problem for 5 months until today... and I r/w the crap out of my extsd cards daily... we'll see what happens.. still works, just getting these warning messages.
Really like that Samsung SD card idea.
Back to Amazon. ...g
I purchased one of these from Amazon last week. Works like a charm, albeit only when formatted as FAT32.
It is roughly twice as fast doing read/writes than my previous Samsung 32GB card.

Could be the format of fat32 causing it used my other card with exfat format and never give me problem or maybe just bad batch of cards we got.

My Sandisk stoped working also, so I bought the samsung 32gb and it's starting to do the same thing again. I just think there is something wrong with samsung phones in general.
I haven't had any issues with my sd card or phone. But a buddy of mine has burned up 3 pny cards and one sandisk. Although it's an s3. Sounds like a phone issue. I told him to call a warranty claim.

Hi XDA, seriously problem here that I really, really need to fix.
My father left his phone at home for the FIRST time ever today, his HTC Desire HD was one of the first in the UK, he go it the first day it came out. Today he forgot to take his phone to work, so I put it on charge for him and left for school. He came home halfway through the day to find a warning in the notification bar alerting him that the SD Card had been un-mounted. On seeing this he immidiatley blamed me, as any father would do to a son that enjoys messing around with electronics, however after taking a closer look I noticed that the phone will accept any card except the one that was in it when it unmounted itself at some point within the day.
The card that broke, is the origional Samsung 8GB that came with it (on Orange anyway ~ unbranded as first in UK FTW) when the Samsung Card is inserted all the stats about the card show as Unavailable, and the phone doesn't even recognise a card as being inserted, the same happens when the SD Card is plugged into my computer running Ubuntu & Windows. The card is not recognised at all, infact Ubuntu thought I inserted an empty SD Reader, and thats from Ubuntu! My dad has so much saved to that SD Card, like literally 5 months of holidays and things, I know he should have made back-up's, but is there anyway we could get this back. Thanks.
Hey i had a simmaler problem but i fixed it with my 16gb micro sdcard by takeing it out of my phone and pluging it into my lapyop and move all the files off the sdcard and onto the desktop and then move then back and then put it back into the phone and turn it on and see if it worked
If it didnt please responed and tell me the exact message it says

Hey Man,
I would do this, but my computer doesn't detect the MicroSD even if its in a SD Reader and plugged into my PC?
I had a similar problem... after i got my DHD, I bought a 16gb card for storage. I used this for about 4 months then I started to get the dismount messages every now and then, particularly when the card was being used a lot (playing music from it especially). Then a few days later it would do it after every boot.
My PC can see the files on the card, but trying to copy them off throws an error. I can't format the card either. I have since bought a new one and that is working fine, so it may have just been a faulty card.
It is HTC's fault, bug in the rom causes that. Your father should get an OTA update any time soon that will prevent it from happening again. You can format the SD using a PC and a card reader, it might just revive the card.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
If you want to retreive data on the SD do not format or delete the partition.
Try to use a "data rcovery" tool first.
But if it's not recognise at all (like a piece of plastic and not as a non formated sd) all data maybe lost.
Usually OS corrupt the SD, it doesn't destroy it. If it's dead it not your fault or the OS fault. It's just no luck (try to explain this to dad ).
And beside I think its an San disc not an samsung, like I have, and try read it with partition manager. If not you can get a new one. And never buy Kingston cards, I had 5 of them and all died in few weeks.

Kingston makes the best and fastest cards, you have just abused them or something like that..

Well, both Kingston and SanDisk have worked well for me, and the price is usually almost the same. The difference is that Kingston gives absolutely awesome warranty, and the cards are fast has h*ll. My Class4 Kingston reads 21 megs per second, and writes 12 megs per second.

Thanks for the information, i've sent an E-Mail to HTC complaining about it. Hopefully they will see the light, and send a new SD-Card as it was shipped with the phone from HTC.
I've not seen any messages from other users anywhere in this section of XDA. So i was wondering if any of this sounds familiar to anyone of you.
I bought the 64gb SDXC card from Sandisk 2 weeks ago. Formatted it in the phone when prompted after i inserted it. After this i used it for over 2 weeks and had no problems whatsoever..
This morning i woke up and the phone said it had a blank SD card in it and asked me if i wanted to reformat it...
Since i have a lot of pics, video's and other personal files on it. This is really not on my wishlist.
This weekend when i get back home, ill try to recover my files and try to reformat the SDXC card. Which i bought from a proper store so it's really not a fake since i paid over 70 euro's for the thing.
Was just wondering if more people have been experiencing any problems with these cards? Or what might be the problem with it. Furthermore, when i formatted the card in the phone itselve. Dit i formatted it into FAT32? I think it was still Exfat myselve, but this is just a Q a friend asked me.
Oh btw, i did not root the phone, so no SU or other tricks. Just a stock version.
P.s. Sorry, i had my eyes shut when posting. This should be in "Questions section" My apologies to the Mod's
Looks like your card corrupted and might still work if you format but I reckon you should get a replacement.
Hmm that's not really the answer i was hoping for. Since the card is only 2 weeks old. And what sais the new card won't be corrupted either then within 2 weeks. I am not looking forward into spending 70 euros every other 2 weeks for a new SD card and losing my data all the time.
There must be some cause to what made this happen..
Sorry mate but when this happens it's almost 100% certain the card's f ***ed, I mean it's happened to me plenty times and if you keep the card you just sitting on a timebomb of lost data.
Maybe if it's a faulty card i can get a new one since i just bought it 2 weeks ago thrue warranty service.
140 euros for 1 card is too much..
Yeah it is a faulty card so they have to replace it, but tell them this has happened more than once though because it just makes it easier.
It helps if you tell us which ROM & kernel you are using. I had the same issue with 2 of my 64gb when using AOKP with Siyah & his exFAT vold.zip mod. Since I have two 64gb cards, I formatted one with exFAT & FAT32 on the other in linux. I'm currently using AOKP & a FAT32 formatted 64gb card with no issues.
I do have a nandroid of Omega 6.0 so if I need exFAT on my 64gb for large movie files, I can go back to that.
It happened to me 2 times., when I first put my card in it said it was blank and asked if I wanted to format it. I did and the next day it said the same thing. Then I format it in my computer put the card back in the galaxy and said the card was blank. Fat32

Ist more a kernel thing... reading exfat, ntfs, fat32 and so on, so normally compatible in sdxc means the kernel can read exfat. Otherwise you have to format to fat32
Twiz kernels support the exFAT fs but AOSP/AOKP does not and card has to be formatted with a FAT32 fs in order to work in those ROMs... I had this same issue were my card stopped working after a week or so as well. I purchased it from Amazon so I have been able to return it for a full refund but I've been seeing more and more similar issues so am not sure if I should order another 64GB or a 32GB... either way, definitely try and get a refund, good luck!
It's a format issue. SGS3 has a problem with exFAT above 32GB of storage which eventually corrupts data after a certain amount of data has been reached on the sdxc card IIRC, so you have to format it to fat32 if you are planning to use more than that. Problem is windows cannot format 64GB in fat32 format, so you need to find 3rd party programs to do such task.
I believe 32gb exFAT is fine as plug and play however.
Im not a stranger to rooting (thanks due to all the awesome devs here!) But sadly a ran low on storage. Bought a 32gb Sandisk class 10 ($24...Why pass on that?!) I copied current sd to computer, then transferred to new sd card. Well, phone was incredibly laggy. Ended up freezing. Pulled battery, rebooted.... froze on samsung screen (waited almost 10 mins) Pulled battery again. Attempted to reflash current rom, but upon reboot it sent me back to recovery with message of no OS. Not one of my roms would succeed. Back to old sd card.
Now i must ask, did i miss something here? Or is it a defective card? Im a sucker for punishment. I formatted card, only putting rom files on to use. Still failed on me.
Returned to original sd card, reflashed rom. Back to normal!!
There is a known issue with SanDisk SD Cards, and the Samsung Galaxy S3. You can find more info HERE. I believe the the issue has since been resolved. You can try to format the SD Card with SD Formatter. It may save the SD Card. But either way you can follow the link I gave you. There is another link there to the SanDisk site. They should replace your card. Or you can take it to your local retailer with a copy of the link page. They should take care of the issue.

Sounds like your card is dying. New card time. Samsung or SanDisk work well and have good warranty.
This started to happen to me right before the sd card failed. Back up your stuff and get a new card. I got a 128gb Sandisk on sale a couple of days ago. They have a 10 year warranty. Good luck.
Backup asap for sure ^^^ and probably got the same card a week ago
Nothing wrong with the card. Works fine in pc and note 2. I went and took a leap of faith it was the speed of the card which the internet seemed to be leaning toward. Got a super deal on a pny 128gb hyper performance for $50 after best buy discounts. In phone with all data intact so im happy

The older SanDisk version of the 64gb card was having this problem on N4's. I bought a newer version back in December and it's been great.
HTC 10 damaged my micro SD card. Did happen to anyone else?
I listened music form my phone on my way to work in the morning and then, on way back home firstly music didn't play, so I found that card is not recognized by the system even after restart. I have checked it later on two computers with 2 different adapters and no appliance can recognize the card. Branded 64 GB Lexar fast card. HTC wasn't restarted or so, wasn't even hot I kept in whole day in the pocket. I'm not sure what to do, I mean don't want to lose another memory card which I probably buy.
And maybe, by any chance, someone have any idea how to check memory card whether is completely dead?

It's more likely a short life span micro sd card, and this kind of suck always happen once a while.
Don't blame your phone unless other one or two micro sd cards also die in the first two weeks.

The HTC 10 does appear to be finicky with microSD cards. My 128GB Sandisk that worked totally fine on a Galaxy S5 kept giving me problems on the HTC 10. I wonder if the phone is stressing the cards too much somehow (for instance if it is scanning the card too often for media files and you happen to have tons of media content on the card like in my case).
Thank guys for the reply,
I never broke before any memory card and that one was not cheap. Happily I can buy now double capacity and double speed for half of the price which I spend for the last one. I'm planning to buy Lexar 128GB. That card did work perfectly but only few days.
I'm having issues with my card as well. I purchased the SanDisk Ultra 200GB Micro SD from amazon. I put it straight into the phone and ran diagnostics on it to confirm it was a true SanDisk card and its read/write speeds which were in line with manufacturer's specs (88 read/ 14 write). Within the day it was having issues pulling images off the card. All the images saved directly to the card had a grey area or "box" over some portion of the photo that would correct after a few seconds leaving the full picture to view. The images could be sent with no problem but eventually they seemed to become corrupted. I figured it was the slow write speed causing the issue so I replaced it with a new Samsung ProPlus 128GB card (95 read/ 90 write) and the issue still persists. Not sure if anyone else is seeing anything similar.
if your looking for a new one, this one is great. very fast speeds 90mb write 95mb read. bit on the spendy side so hopefuly it was just the card failing and not the HTC 10 eating them
I haven't had any issues with 1000s of files on mine so far, crossing fingers
Same here, Kingston 128 GB micro SD worked fine on my s7 edge. Inserted the same card in my HTC 10 and it was readable for the first hour, after that the card was not recognised by the device. The card wasn't even recognised by my Mac and PC. I'm glad I had my photos backed up on google photos.
My 64gb kingston kicked the bucket in my HTC 10. Last weekend I woke my phone up and it said sd card unexpectedly removed. Card was not readable in any other device.
Got a Sandisk as a replacement as never had an issue with their cards in the past. The kingston only lasted 4 weeks, but I'm putting it down to just a faulty card.
If the sandisk dies too, then I'll be a bit concerned it could be the phone...
Im Using Lexar Pro SDCARD 128gb and havent had issues using it. The card was also formatted as adaptive.

So, there is two of us. There is one only connection - 64gb.
Where is Sherlock?

You're made me worry. I use SanDisk 200 Gb, it's kinda expensive one.
Worry for what?
I don't have any issues with my HTC10, but I broke a 64gb Sandsik in my Sony X10i, phone just got hot. Shut down, Card didn't work anymore. And another one SanDisk 128gb was in my Sony Z2 when I replaced the back plate somehow the MicroSD got broken.
The 64gb Card had a Lifetime Warranty and the 128gb a 10 year. Not sure how long my 200gb card is now. Think they reduced it to 3years or 5.
But yeah, went to their Homepage, registered the cards. Requested replacement, they sent someone here to pick them up, 5-9days later I got the new Cards via Mail
So yeah, always back Up your important stuff somewhere else and who cares if they fail. It's annoying Yes, but **** happens.
SD cards can fail in ANY device. I wouldn't go as far as saying it failed because of the device. Quality of the cards is what really dictates how soon failing can occur. A knockoff SanDisk failed in a few months while the real one has lasted years for me. I highly recommend SanDisk and Samsung SD cards because I have had no issues with their original products.
EBay and some Amazon sellers have tendencies to sell fake cards so beware.

been using this without any problem 128gb and prior to this i tried samsung evo + 128 and that worked fine....
but as the OP stated it is true that many users using diferent sd cards has been facing issues with htc 10.....
some has issues on some firmware, some on custom kernels, some on different formats so its wise to say that there is something beyond a faulty sd card itself.
in all the custom rom threads you could see sd card issues highlighted at one point or other by mutliple users including devs
I have the same issue, and now i remember this is the second one in my htc 10, first one a pny 128gb worked well for more than one year in my previos s5 and after a month in my htc it failed, i blame the sd card that day and decide to buy an 128gb lexar and today after 5 months it failed, or i have a very bad luck now or my htc is damaging my sd cards.
