I installed this rom and I'm not happy with it. I can't get play store to work, and need help installing one of my other roms. In recovery it has taken away my option to back up and restore please someone help me.
Ypu are in stock recovery. Use odin to flash el26 kernel with cwm then flash through that

help
I know what I did wrong with the rom I didn't install the g apps at the same time I did the rom. now my sd card will not mount so I can put the zip file on there, so I tried putting the sd card on my wife's phone and putting the file on there and then putting it back into my phone. I'm so frustrated right now it's ridiculous, but I'm not stuck in recovery I can start the phone and get into my launcher, but my google store does not work, my sd card can't be read, and my option to restore my back in recovery has been taken away. all I have is install update from external sd or install update from internal cache. If there is anyone who can help me please do so I will be forever in your debt.
fixed
thanx man I got it flashed and it worked.

Hi to all
I rooted my Dinc 2 yesterday and was working great tell i flashed MIUI then i went to reboot my phone and now it won't reboot. i tired to reflash the rom and still didn't work and my CWM keeps crashing every time i go in to it. i need help i don't know what else to do. i redownloaded everything i still nothing. is there any way to go back to stock with Odin ?
Odin? yeah i wish lol
i ran into a simular problem to day. flash this RUU in the bootloader
http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?t=1038
rename the file to just "PG32IMG.zip" and place it on the root of your SD. reboot to the bootloader and install. the RUU will take you back to 2.2.1 and leave you S-off. from there just re-install CWM, flash the root zip, then take it where you want from there. hope this helps
If that doesn't work
Save the contents of your SD card on your computer then reformat your SD card. I had to do that when I first rooted because CWM was not backing up any ROMs.
Sorry wrong forum. Thread closed.
When I go into recovery to try and get my gapps zip there are not any files. Mounting and formatting sd card from cwm recovery does nothing for me. Im affraid if i try to factory resest and then go back and flash a different rom then i will be left with a brick. Any tips or suggestion very appreciate. Thank you

Sdcard gets emulatd using cm10 everything is still there but you're gonna have to fix it by transferring it over to emulatd/ sdcard/ 0

Ive had the same issue. CWM does not see my sd card so I had to put all the files onto the internal memory. i was still be to root and install roms.
Hey I've been rooted for about 5 months now but never really got into it deeply. I'm in need of some help, could be easy but I'm stumped. Basically I was running a custom rom which was an AOKP JB rom released back in early September. It flashed no problem and what not, and has worked flawlessly up until today when I tried to flash to a new AOKP JB rom released.
I had done nandroid backups prior to attempting. So I downloaded the rom via AOKP OTA updates and then put it on my external sd card, and updated my cwm recovery to the most recent version. I then proceeded to cwm recovery and wiped data/factory reset, wiped the cache, and wiped the dalvik cache. I believe the first time around I forgot to format system and proceeded straight to flash the rom via external sd card, but it kept saying error can't external sd card every time attempting to flash the rom. I then tried to do it from internal sd card because it was located in AOKP OTA folder and it started flashing the rom but then an error occured very early on. Now since I have restored from my nandroid backup I'm now unable to access my external sd card, my phone just won't locate it.
Basically I need help figuring out what happened and how I can get my phone to recognize my micro sd card and how to properly go about flashing this rom.
Any help is appreciated thanks in advance.
If it helps I'm with Rogers. Also is it alright that I went back to a stock rom, can I update the stock rom too without any issues?
Anyone please?

So are you currently back to stock? If so, what version of stock?
Yes I'm back to stock, which was from a nandroid backup. Running 4.0.4 tried doing software update but it failed. Am I going to have to go through odin and flash stock rom to unroot and then root again? Cause my micro sd is going insane keeps getting a errors....

Have you tried changing recoveries and seeing if you have more luck with TWRP?
No I haven't tried it, you think it would make a difference? I have just got the new cwm prior to these issues.

I would be sure to have a good, clean download of the ROM you want to install on your internal SD as well as a NANDROID somewhere for worst case. Then, install TWRP through the GooManager app from the play store. Once in the app, hit the menu button and select to install a custom recovery script. That should install the newest TWRP in place of CWM.
From there, enter recovery mode. It would be recommended to go the wipe menu and choose factory reset and then dalvik. FInally, install your ROM .zip and GAPPS. Hopefully that should work and install the ROM of your choosing.
If that is without success, flashing back to Stock via Odin may be your best choice.

Now what about my micro sd card? Isn't it best to put roms on external sd cards?

I personally have never flashed a custom ROM from anywhere other than my internal SD. I actually had root with numerous custom ROMs without ever using an external SD.
Alright so hopefully this sorts out my external sd card then.

Please let me know how it turns out.
I wiped flashed file but it keeps booting into the modified TWRP RECOVERY? Stuck at this point.
Anyone have any ideas?
I was on TWRP 2.4.1 Newest version
MA5 Stock Deodexed MA5 Firmwares
OK Now a little freaked out. I can't get to billards file or any of my back ups because they were on my external sd card!!!! I hate trying to learn new stuff (old dog)
I'm so used to HTC and when I think I have a grasp of Sammy I F&ck it up!
Oh yeah and my back ups on PC are gone because of hard drive crash! FFFFUUUUDDDDGGGGEEEE!!!!!!!
Any help to get me back to where I was before I flashed this thing would be very much appreciated. Hell I'll take a bootable ROM of any kind. Sweating bullets!
I have the mskips 3.0 toolkit can that help? I scared ****less to do anything!
I don't have ideas of why. But if you have ROM, try flashing it and see if it'll boot. Then at least you can get the rom you want later and maybe your backups.
No Rom on Phone

It's (TWRP) not showing anything under the external sd card and I'm not sure how to mount the external sd card? Under mount there are some options problem is this is a modified version of TWRP 2.3.2.3 or something close to that. Just confused on how to just get a stock rom back on the thing?
thank you very much for your reply

I had this problem a few times. I know I solved it by just flashing back to stock and formatted everything. I know that's probably excessive and you'll lose a lot of info but it's better than having a very expensive paper weight. Lol

I can't see anything on my sd card and since this is some sort of modified version of TWRP it can only see what's on the internal memory. But none of my back ups are on the internaland whenever it rebooots it always boots the the modified version of TWRP. Really stumped i don't know adb so I don't know if I can even push anything to the phone?
Don't mind losing data no biggie there but I'm like you don't want it totally hosed.
Thanks Charles
Use odin to flash latest twrp over the funky one. Then use real twrp to access sd card. Also before that, remove sd card and copy contents to new hard drive using a card reader.

Copying files now. Quick question/advice If I can see my old TWRP file in my internal memory could I flash that file with this weird modified version of TWRP? Then I could flash any file from my sd card stock or custom ROM. If not to flash the TWRP file in Odin do I place it in PDA the slot and which buttons do I need to check (reboot etc)?
Wait I can't use Odin because my PC can't recognize or see my phone because of this modified version of TWRP. Damn it!
My apologies for the noob questions just scared ****less to do anything.
My sd card is wiped clean
So I could put a file on sd card but this modified version of TWRP can't see my external sd card.
Thank you for your time
Charles
To use odin you have to put the phone in "download mode" not recovery. It's a special mode different from recovery or OS or bootloader. Power off the phone and press & hold UPvol+home+power until you get the download mode screen.
It doesn't matter what kind of recovery or anything else you have. It works even with no recovery or kernel or bootloader or OS at all.
Get the tar version of openrecovery 2.4.1.0 (or whatevers latest you future readers). Don't unpack the tar.
Uncheck reboot.
Use the PDA button, select the downloaded tar.
After flashing is done and it says 1 success 0 error, bpull the battery.
This next is annoying and I can't really believe there is no better way, but I need to do it this way or else the newly flashed recovery doesn't "take" and I have to flash it again. Just once the first time after flashing. After that no problem. Anyway, hold DOWNvol+home+power, and while holding all those, put the battery back in.
Now you should have a good fully functional useful TWRP recovery that you can use to flash all kinds of things from the sd card, backup all kinds of things to the sd card, access the internal main OS flash drive, the internal "sdcard" and external sdcard, etc.

Hello guys,
It seems I did something stupid and now I cant get into recovery.
I had CM10 alpha 6 with CWM 6.0.2.7. Just to experiment with the stock rom again, I flashed FAW version 3 with the CWM recovery. So I rebooted the phone and everything seemed to went fine.
Then I wanted to flash extra packages for theming etc. But phone can not go into recovery. With the button combination v up, home and power the samsung logo just flashes and phone goes off again. I could get into download mode. But it takes couple of tries.
I tried to flash CWM via adb and it seemed to to be flashed without any errors. But still could not get into recovery.
Do you guys have any suggestions as to what to do? Should I try to flash stock rom via odin and start from scratch? Or do you have a better approach? I dont want to get stuck on sam firmware as I love CM10 .
I am cursing my stupidity. Why do you even want to ecperiment with stock rom.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Edit 1 : OK I took the sdcard off and took the battery out waited 10 to 15 minuted. Tried again to boot into recovery without the sdcard. Voila it worked.
I do not know what did the trick. Was it trying without sd or waiting without battery, I dont know. But happily I am back to CM10. Pheewww...

Edit 2: Ok it seems it was the SD card I had. Again I had the same issue and I could not get into recovery. Moment I take it out, I can get into recovery. For some weird reason the SD card I have causes this issue. I will check with another sdcard soon.
Fiuuh. congratulations bro ..
you add the solution too. it will be a great information for other people
My suggestion would be to delete and then recreate all partitions on the SD Card.
