New Idea - Donating To Developers - About xda-developers.com

Hello everyone,
I hope u all having a nice weekend . First of all I'm not a developer i m just an advanced user and i have been benefited a lot from this forum since 2009 and its truly a Wikipedia
As u know developers are spending time money and effort for the sake of helping us and they don't get something in return for it . I m not saying they should or forcing people to do so . But i m just saying we need to show some kind of appreciation for them in order to let them deliver the best ... Cause i have seen examples of talented developers who became
under the spot and after a short period everyone forgets about them and what they have done to u and me .
Some developers gonna tell me it sounds like we are begging for money and we r shy to do so. Hell no , Consider it as a reword for the great work and a fuel to ur commitment.
My idea
1 - create a forum (section) for donating to developers.
2- each developer can can create his own thread welcoming people to donate . And representing his work in hyperlinks .
3 - this section must be placed at the top to this forum
4 - this section is suppose to locked .
-------
I know that some of u might disagree with me ... Feel free to explain why.
I m sorry for my bad writings

You are so kind but I think it must be requested to Admin & Mods -> Here or for new Forum -> Here

Thank u . I m sorry i didn't know where to post it. I just want members and forum moderates to get involved in dissection and action

You should post this request in the appropriate thread mentioned in the previous posts.
Thanks!

need moderator??!!

i think the diamond section is in a great need of one/one more moderator.
there are posts to be moved and posts to be trashed. i also suggest that besides diamond, diamond rom development and diamond accessories to add a diamond trash where to be able to move all the "does the diamond have a led?" threads.
taking this job and responsibility it will be my way of saying "thank you" to this forum.
shameless self promotion?
I want to be a mod, but i dont have a diamond but im online most of the time or at least an hour a day here in xda-dev. Im just saying if anyone is considering.

"does the diamond have a led?" is a good question! must know the signal status! something important to someone better than does the diamond run Iphone apps?
Moderators are only part of the solution.
Every registered user has the ability to report posts/threads to the enitre moderation team. Use the little triangle with the ! in it.
This is alo a good way to make us aware of forums where there is a true need for additional Mods.

He has a point!
Also, mrvanx, who in my mind is the most active mod in the Diamond forums, does an astounding job clearing the trash.

did anyone replace meschle???
on artemis forum...maybe some others too...
question: does a mod need to know about the topics or just remove the trash
i want be a mod,im 5-6 hours around here, especially when i'm on work,i know what to do,and i'm not a mod on any other site,so i'll have plenty of time for this one...but then again who the hell is going to give it to me

I am sure if you really stay around and help out by showing mods all the junk needing to be removed they may pay you some attention mate ...
i do my duty as a member...report spams, advertising, fighting, care what i type, don't ask stupid or asked questions, help others solve their problems,so don't worry...and i'd feel weird if i get it...i mean you are here longer,so more active,i think....but look it the other way...if you are here longer, and have over 3500 posts...what's wrong with you...why aren't you noticed...do you report
just asking,not insulting
and as i could see the idea wasn't promoted by a mod...so does anyone ask them about it

Well maybe I am too conflicting and not a conformist. Who knows . All I do is help all , run a ftp , write reviews on all roms i test trying to cover them all and hopefully will aquire some other phones to test more roms in other areas on ....
well when we are speaking about mods...one question...there are forums that don't count posts in off topic threads...should you do it here
i mean lots of guys got their posts by complaining about wifes, husbands, what music they listen to,writing jokes....this isn't fair...first time i went to off topic and posted was yesterday...other 100 posts were kinda help to others...artemis,atom,hermes and magician forums...because i have the devices, and i test everything and give review and help
well the number of posts isn't too important, but is something that is watched when e.g. giving apps and roms to beta testers...they give it to guys with most posts...which they gained in off topic...so there is no real knowledge and developer creativity in them
one more thing...would it be good to make these "thanks" buttons like those guys on pdaviet have...so we don't get lost in thanking, but get to the piont....would it require changing vBulletin
lol...i prob wouldnt come close to qualifying...

well read my post above....that about "off-topicers"
Ok off topic we have another thief stealing work from xda and selling on ebay ..... I just wrote a note to ebay and ask all that read do the same ..... here is my note .....
I noticed an item is being sold that is not the property of the seller. How I know is I am a member of XDA forum which is where the software was designed. it is Item number: 250269408312. Many memebrs and admin from the site have contacted and sent letters to ebay in the past refring to items such as theese being sold here.
Here is the item # 250269408312

In the Developers Forum

For all of you people WHO ARE NOT DEVELOPERS!
PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION:
When someone posts code , or instructions for a new release of anything! Note : READ THE WHOLE POST FIRST!, I dont care if its 50 pages long, it will save you the embarrassment of bricking your phone!
Most of these guys are pretty sharp people, they know what they are doing and have been doing it for years , look at there profiles!
If you dont understand something ask before you load something on your phone and brick it! Because 99% of the time if you brick it, you wont have a clue how to fix it , and will be less likely to try a rom or anything else, you'll go back to the dealer!
I look at these guys as professionals , they got there **** together , but they arent perfect , this is a new system and they are the guys who will find the secrets that the rest of us can enjoy! Be patient!
READ, READ,READ ,ask questions if you want , but ask before you screw up ,!
So... is this a lesson learnt the hard way I wonder?
maybe , but he is right that most of the noobs just click and not read , and when it goes wrong then we can fix it.
This is coming from a noob, though. 25 total posts and already schooling us all.

Not even been a member two months!
Noob on this forum, true ,but Ive been in computers since the early 80's , I also dont say im a programmer , Im not schooling anyone, but you got to admit , that when you guys post something , it doesnt neccessarily mean your telling everyone in this foum to try out my stuff!
I used to be really into linux and and Windows and other OSs, I consider (myself at the time ) pretty good with the internals but several years where you dont have access to computers , you get out of touch , YOU MIGHT UNDERSTAND , some of you are treading into that territory right now, all im saying is you get tired of of everytime you write some code some guy tries it and it fails then they either bad mouth this forum or its members and cry,
just want people to remember most of this stuff is new and isnt supported my the carriers or Microsoft or even the phone manufacters ! So USE AT YOUR OWN RISK , NOOB, HAHA,

Total posts and stats, and join date do not mean anything. I've been a developer for years, and a mobile developer for the past 6. I just never bothered to join this forum because I'm an active member in others.
So am I schooling you with my 3 or so posts and only being a member for a week? Yes. Please try to make this an inviting forum, and don't make people afraid of posting something because there might be remarks about their stats.
And by the way, this is a totally useless post to the original topic, but I increased my stat count by 1. Does that make me more respectable now?

Stop dis-respectiong NOOBs(new comers to XDA)

Hey i see here and there, some of the seniors are welcoming new members a.k.a Noobs in bitter and dis-respectful manner. Stop doing so, all we need is some patience. Remember that once, we were also noobs. All we need is, teach new members, the WAY of APPROACH to solve their queries and problem.
And request to new members:
Before posting ur problem or query kindly GOOGLE search which even searches XDA, if u dont find the thing which u need than Search in XDA, search at XDA will mostly solve ur problem, since one or the other user might have gone through the same problem and he/she might have overcome through it. but still, if u dont get, then post it. And lets(includes me ) try to make a habit of reading the whole thread before posting it.
Cmmon 3 Cheers.
Cheers to XDA, Cheers to Galaxy Ace Devs, Cheers to Galaxy ace members.

Yes , you make a point , but newcomers are different from noobs .
Newcomers: Are polite and new people who know a little before posting
Noobs: Are rude and people who don't bother to learn anything before posting .
Infused with CM7 for the Galaxy Ace using XDA App
I agree to the Topic Maker
But still there are some noobs who are just posting likely new topics before searching (U might Include me)
M sorry for that ... But There should some basic Q/A Thread ... in that ANY TYPE of Galaxy ACE question can be asked ....
might one help another
Any type? Flood the forum with a million of the same small problems with same solutions?
Every time you don't do a search before you post, a penguin is killed.
Newcomers are okay. Senior members are more or less polite but will not hesitate to lash out at disrespectful members. That's what they deserve. It's not about being new or not. In xda, you either be a developer, or be a learning user. Not beggars nor trolls.

Agreed!
I think they are not confident what they are doing so they might like to hear the same answer from different user which might give sme courage to move on, but it some time become irritating.
Totally agree with the author of the thread.. We shouldn't be treated like this (newcomers) anyways I am not a noob im just a newly registered member but I am familiar with the ROMS and modification of smartphones.
I will happily answer a question that isn't in the first post or last 3 pages. If the question has been answered recently or many times I will tell them to search.
That's nothing unique to XDA, that's just standard forum etiquette across the internet.

Yes, you, no we, should be.. Its brought on to you by yourself, coming in and asking lot of questions, getting mad because you dont understand the answer that was given etc etc.. Seniors does not dislike or disrespect any newcomer just for the fact that they are new.
Mostly people know their way around any forum but some dont...
Respect is not a one way street

What are you saying??it is not the duty of the moderator find developers that can make cm7 on our device!if you have a concern just pm the moderator and he will answer your pm. Pls dont make unnecesarry thread!
Cheers!
re
if you want a developer to help you than you search some in forum and ask them to help you out....
if you ask a developer to do all the things that you want then it wont work..... you will need to put your efforts too....
actually, i pm'ed a dev on galaxy mini.about porting cm7, a werk ago but he told me it'll be very difficult since he dont own this phone.
well, maybe its still posible to dev a rom.without the phone, right? maybe that dev just dont like doing it coz his 1st priority is his model.
if devs don't own this phone may be we wait a long time..seem now devs don't care this phone
I can make it but after my exams are over( 21st march)
I own this device and will have lots of free time after exams so it will be easy for me...
There should be an off topic sub-forum because we love to talk, and beating about the bush.

restricted account help

Hi mods
I after years I am bothering to ask that you please remove the "n00b" restrictions on my account. I am not one to wank away on your pages just to make them sticky... I generally have feedback to give or questions to ask and as much as I always go to other sources to post rather than here due to restriction, I have a lot of experience with OUYA, and now I am just annoyed that yet another android topic I know so much about, I cannot give input without jumping through anti-spam hoops on your page... and don't get me started on LG or Sony XP (if any of you know my professional bg you know what I mean)
I am not going to go helping fellow users when I have to wait 5 minutes between posts when scanning forums during a meal break... just like my detailed post on how to flash to LG's went largely unnoticed due to your restrictions originally.
look at my posts and make a judgement.
look at my OUYA profile and make a judgement.
facebook me and make a judgement.
anyway I don't think you are like most tech forums... but I don't really want a teenager with an ego to tell me to waste space with x posts and make a bait-post to get x pluses to get more access... I just want to help others how I like to be helped - openly and free so let that happen

You may have tripped the Whining and Complaining detector. Mods add another hour before you can post in the dev section.
Sometimes there is a short delay after you make your 10 posts. Won't be long now...
