Xperia ZL C6506 Pre-Loaded Content Gone After Factory Reset - Sony Xperia ZL

Got my C6506 in white, today. Beautiful phone pre-loaded with beautiful pictures and good music.
I did a factory reset and now it's all gone! So sad.
Called Xperia Support. No dice.
Can anyone upload the video, photos, and music pre-loaded on the phone for me please?

Go here and download any of the stock firmwares. You can extract the content from them.

Thank you! Little bit of a time crunch though, and I am basically new to this. What program gives the easiest/fastest way to extract the content?

Easier to use system dump. No extract necessary.

My stock music player along with my market video player were both erased of their content. Is this a result of a virus or not so serious? How do I reactivate both players with the stuff they had? What happened and what's the fix? Thanxs... again!

No im all factory as far as firm or software goes. I haven't even tried the system upgrade via settings. I now discovered my gallery is also wiped clean and unusable. The pictures still exist ...but only in file. this can't be normal. can you diagnose this and point me in a solutions direction.? Thank you for the reply.. Much appreciated!

Seems like you might be having an issue with your sd card... Try pulling the back cover off and ejecting/re-inserting the sd.

[Q] Factory reset and files lost, help please

Hi guys
Did a factory reset to have another go at setting everything up again, as i had every app and his son install first time round, and duplicated contacts.
After doing the reset, it seems that there are files missing, sample songs etc, is this right, and is there any way to get it back to factory as it said on the phone.
Phone is sim free from the carphone warehouse
many thanks
Darrin
Well I spoke to HTC today, and all they could say was it shouldn't happen, and to download the content from the hub......but there is bugger all on the hub to download, ah well......

Ditto...
Just completed a hard reset to hopefully resolve auto-rate issues and noticed this too - upon reboot the sample music & video files are missing. Phone bought from CPWH too.
Has anyone else noticed this and can someone please upload all the files as I really liked one of the tracks but can't remember what it was called!!
Thanks.

Then I decided to put on a Custom ROM

I too accidentally deleted the original /sdcard files when I first got the phone (checked "Erase all data" in "Factory data reset" for some stupid reason).
These are the extras I think were originally in /sdcard (unlocked UK version):
/DCIM - 15 wallpaper images
/Music
/Ringtones
HTC One X User Manual_WWE.pdf
I attached the images and manual. You can get the music in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633496
I don't have what was originally in /Ringtones, and I may have left something out, so feel free to add to this list.
Many thanks Raster. Yes I did the exact same (checked erase all data option).
Ringtones seem to be intact, 68 in total (from '8bit' love to 'Zen') - not sure if there are anymore. If anyone could confirm this that would be great.

Sony Gallery App sucks

At least for me. I loved being able to snap a pic with my big camera, have the EyeFi upload it and sync it to Picasa, and have the picture in my JB stock gallery on the Nexus 4 automatically. The Sony Gallery will pull the Picasa images, but I have to manually tell it to refresh and it takes a LONG time.
Once the image is downloaded I can't share it from there, I have to download it and then go look for it and share it. It also downloads a small version of the image.
I was able to install the stock JB Gallery app but I was missing the components to sync Picasa. Still need to work on fixing that. Anyone use something that would make things better?
I don't know if this will help because it probably is quite obvious to you already, but have you tried using quickpic?

Oh that's not the way it's supposed to look? Haha. I had never used Quick Pic. It looks pretty good, but it doesn't have Picasa integration, so it doesn't add much value here.
I did find that I can pull the Picasa pictures more easily with Google +, but I still have to download them and then share them. It only shares to Google +. At least the resolution of the downloaded images is much better than what the Sony app gets and the pics are already synced when I open the app.
It looks like the Sony gallery does not use the Android sync service and pulls its own version of the images.

Someone over at Android Central pushed out the stock Nexus Gallery/Camera app from the new Samsung/HTC Nexus-ified devices. I just installed it and it works perfectly on my C6506, and Google+ Photos/Picasa is working like a charm. Gotta say I love the stock Nexus Gallery.
Give it a go.

Edit: Installed and it works great. Now to change the default app for the camera button and disable the shutter sound (I'm also not a big fan of the Sony camera app)
Great! The only downside is that we won't be able to make use of the Bravia Engine, but oh well.

They want all of your Photos not only the ones you choose, I mean in case you want to use the sync option, which is (would be) a nice feature.
Would be very easy, I think, to add options like "Folders to sync"...."Folders to show"....and something like that, that makes the User the Owner of the Stuff
But these are Questions like, why we don't get an option to fully Access our Phones "Root" by Clickin......is all about the Money they make by Advertising "non Know Users" and so on....FTI.
We are all buying industrial Money making Machines for a lot of Bucks....because we love Tech!
Great, just installed and totally in love with my new gallery
Thank you!

Photo Gallery App?

I see that there is no stock gallery app on this phone. Looks like Google wants you to solely use photos. I almost don't mind, but, I'd really like to manage the pictures and videos that are saved to my phone. Does Google still have one that I can grab even with an apk online? If not, what do you guys and gals recommend?
Please and thanks!

Still using QuickPic. I really like the built in crop/resize editor, fits right into my workflow.
People slam Quickpic because they got bought from some shady company but I haven't seen the app do anything bad.
Check out Piktures:

I think the problem is people moving to Google phone after being with phones by LG or Samsung. Not sure when Google officially made the switch over to Photos, but it definitely was around in 2015. When I got the Nexus 6P, I noticed it didn't have a stock gallery app, so it was extremely weird for me at first.

My issue with Google Photos is that I cannot change default view to device folders. I have to swipe to select everytime I use photos app. It results in mobile data usage as default view is photos that are in cloud storage.

Well, that is true. It defaults to a 'view' mode that sorts each picture by day. However, I have the cloud feature disabled for me, so no data usage. Photos behavior has always been that 'view' mode though.

People are not blinded by this! It is the fack that you are unable to access your album's w/ 1 click & the grid style layout is favorable! And do not touch Google photos if you don't want to bring every photo in existence to your device...but you are unable to force stop & still be able to take a pic! I'll say it again... Google's ability to store & display albums is still lacking.

I actually love being able to see all the pics I've ever taken with Google Photos. That's why I've uploaded pics even from old point and shoot cameras I had. And the ability to search by person, places, or things is amazing.

Should i reset the phone or not?

Guys I've had the pixel 2xl for over a year now and i last did a clean install 5-6 months ago. I don't really have a problem with the phone with occasional drops in frame rate in some applications. I was just curious to know your views incl. pros and cons of resetting my phone and would you advice me to do it?
Thanks in advance.

Don't really know, I've never done that before. I find it easier to just back up my photo folders to my pc, which are also synced to my google photos folders. So after a reset, I just drag & drop my photo folders from pc to phone, and google photos already recognizes them :good:

You can also create a folders on your internal storage with a root type, or standard file manager with names like..Family, dogs, or whatever. Then drop your photos in those folders. Your gallery app, like QuickPic will pick them up, which you can then sync those folders with google photos :good:
