Hey everyone,
I recently flashed the new Cyanogenmod 10.1 RC ROM but it didn't occur to me that I needed to flash a matching GAPPS as well (I'm new to the whole modding thing and the download page for CM10.1 didn't include the GAPP). So now I have Cyanogenmod 10.1 but no google apps, and apparently no access to the Clockworkmod Recovery I used to flash the ROM either. I've tried downloading just the Google Play APK but the app always closes immediately after I try to open it. I've also tried booting into recovery by holding Volume Down+Home+Power but when I am presented with the Warning page and I press Volume Up to continue, the ROM just boots into Cyanogen as if I pressed cancel instead. Is there anyway to either get my Google Apps back, or someone access CWM Recovery so I can ref lash Gapps?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Brian
Recovery is power+home+volume up
Just flash gapps once you're in recovery.
You should be fine

I tried holding Power+Home+Volume Up but it just boots into Cyanogenmod as if nothing happened :S
Make sure your completely powered down first then try the power+volup+home button make sure all 3 are pressed down
Or, enable extended power menu under dev settings, then just hold down power, reboot, recovery
If you're going to enter recovery mode via the button combo, the most successful way is to press Vol up + home + power. When your device vibrates and you see the blue text in the top left corner of the screen, release just the power button

I had several android phones before
all of them had standard recovery which look like this one:
http://www.omappedia.org/images/b/b3/2011-03-22_19-27-25_273-II.jpg
but when I try to enter recovery mode with the GN I only get android lying (link in operation) with red triangle and exclamation mark.
there is no wipe or other options to choose from.
also the only thing I can do in this state is to pull out the battery.
SO...
where is the stock recovery?

It's right before you. You just need to hit a key combo to get past the warning screen. Perhaps the same one you used to get to the recovery.
if you just leave it, it will reboot by itself eventually

There is no combination to enter recovery directly.
I entered fastboot mode
and selected recovery.

I'd go ahead and try either volume down / volume up / or both at the same time to see if u get into the stock recovery once your at the exclamation screen

Yeah, that is pretty much what I meant by my post. there is only 3 keys.
so it's either:
up vol + power
down vol + power
up and down vol + power
I think it is the last one, since I think that is what takes you to fastboot. I don't have my Gnex just yet. so can't check.
I just tried again all the combination
still nothing
Press the middle of the volume rocker after you are in the fastboot menu and the top selection will scroll the boot options including recovery. Hit power when the desired option is displayed.
Thats what I did to get to the red triangle
I found out what the next combo is
first hold power then add volume up
Thank you
Thanks guys
Spent ages messing found ODIN mode and others then one search and up pops the ansa.
Wow lots of weird answers in this thread.....
In recovery, if you see the android with the exclamation point, press the power key and while holding it press volume up. This will reveal the recovery UI.

Hey there.
I am boarding an airplane in a couple hours so I am urgently seeking help.
I am using akop b25. I was installing a Google music apk and my phone restarted. It then went into a boot loop.
When I turn the phone in using power+volume down, it boots into a screen like fast boot except it says ODIN mode in red at the top, under the android picture it says downloading.... do not turn off the target. The only thing I can do from here is battery pull or press the power button to activate "start", which just boots the device and back into boot loop.
Can anyone help me with this situation. Thanks alot
Try another button combo. Volume up and power button?
In recovery, reflash the rom. I'm not sure though how an apk install caused boot loops.

To get to fastboot the button combo is Vol Up + Vol Down + Pwr. From there select recovery and reflash.

Wow, epic face palm. I could have sworn fast boot was volume down only. Okay, I should be fine then.
Thanks a lot guys
Brand new Note 2 tonight, I just rooted it. But silly me, how the heck do I get into recovery the first time ? Normally I'd have the power menu option, but not yet. I am confused how to restart into recovery.
I tried hold the power button + vol down key, nothing
first you have to install any custom recovery of note 2!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000138
just read this forum carefully and then install it coz a slight mistake can ruin your device!!!
after you have installed recovery, to go into it press these keys simultaneously
volume up± power button± home button!!!
you will get into recovery

Without a custom recovery you will only get to access the srock recovery which is no good if you want to install a custom rom or mod.

Recovery - As the phone is booting, hold down Vol Up, Home and Power. Once the Note 2 logo appears, release the Power button (or else it'll just power off again), but keep the other keys held down.

When powering up the device, hold down the volume and power buttons. When you get to the bootloader screen, use vol keys to enter recovery mode. Then restore in twrp as per usual.
Alternatively, if you have an app like Rom Toolbox Pro and still have root on the CMB rom....just reboot recovery.
Cheers!

Solved
There is help, how to enter Recovery mode:
Simultaneously press and hold the power and volume down buttons.
When the LG logo shows up, release the power button only.
Now press and hold the power and volume up button while keeping your hold on the volume down button.
When the factory reset screen appears, release your hold on all buttons.
Press the power button to continue.
Press the power button again to confirm if you’re sure you wish to continue with the reset.(NOTE if you are the newest TWRP recovery it should not wipe but if you are on the old version everything will be erased!)
Greetings XDA Developers,
Newbie here. I own a Samsung Galaxy Tab S (SM T705). I was able to root it a few weeks ago and I decided to install a custom recovery (TWRP) using an app from the Playstore named "TWRP Manager". I didn't hesitate to do so using this method because I was able to install TWRP on my GT I9300 successfully from the past using this app. However, after being prompted by the app that the recovery was successfully installed and needs to reboot the device, my tab was stuck on start up screen ( See attached photo ). I tried long pressing the power button but nothing happened. I waited until the device ran out of battery and when it did, I plugged in the charger and I'm back at the same screen. After google-ing some possible solutions, I tried to boot it into recovery but was unsuccessful, however, I was able to boot into download mode.
I'd like to ask for the help of some "experienced" users in this forum on how to solve this problem. And if possible, I'm hoping that flashing a stock recovery using Odin wouldn't be my last resort.
Thank you in advance.

Your going to need some fast hands for this one! I've ran into this lots of times when testing kernels and such. Any force reboot by holding Power Button+ Home Button + BOTH Volume buttons all at the same time. Press and hold that combo until the screen goes black. Then once the screen goes black quickly press and hold Power Button+ Home Button + Volume down buttons all at the same time. You should no enter into download mode. You said that you drained the battery so I would suggest charging it in download mode for 30 minutes or so then flash TWRP with Odin.
Your going to need to flash stock recovery or TWRP with Odin to override the boot and get it working
The TWRP app doesn't always work in which is why I use Odin.

As a side note for future reference, hard reset is simply hold POWER + VOL DOWN.
As said all you need do is boot to download mode and flash recovery.
If you're on lollipop you may need to immediately boot into recovery after flashing to make it stick.

Hey, thanks for the heads up. But how exactly do I "immediately boot into recovery after flashing to make it stick." Since after I flash recovery via odin, it would obviously automatically reboot my device? sorry for the dumb question.

Thank you for the solution mentioned above! However, just to further clarify things, what is the difference between "klimtwifi and klimtwifixx" ?

Both are the same I think. Some people name it by our product name or device name (one has xx and one doesn't. Both are the same)

You either be quick and hold POWER + HOME + VOL UP as soon as it reboots or you uncheck auto reboot in Odin then restart manually.

So did the solution work? I am looking at a SM-T705 on ebay being sold for parts with similar symptoms. hoping I can fix it for a great bargain.
