Are you letting go of the buttons when you see the small blue text at the top left of the screen? Does it go to stock recovery? What happens?

Extract the recovery.img file and dd it to mmcblk0p21.

Uncheck auto reboot.
When odin finishes, disconnect usb and pull battery.
Reboot and enjoy your new recovery.
BUT MAKE SURE ODIN FINISHES!!!

I should just install su.zip through odin and then go into goo.im and install open recovering script. How to flash su.zp in odin?

After you flash the recovery. Pull the battery. It worked for many people.

Rom manager failure...

I saw CM9 was out and tried to use Rom Manager to upgrade. I was previously rooted.
It prompted me to install ClockworkMod first, which I did.
Then I downloaded the ROM (prompted me to select T-Mobile Galaxy S2)
Rebooted to take a backup, phone flashes Samsung once and then black screen.
How badly did I screw up?
First off why are u using rom manager to flash a rom? Rom manager is not a reliable app u should do it manually in recovery
The better way to ask would be how can I fix this, not how bad did you screw up. Hence the unhelpful answers.
Can you get into download mode or recovery manually with a battery pull and the right key presses?

Great answer to the question though... I wont blast you but honestly rom manager has been the cause of more problems for the very thing you just did than I can imagine. Leave that app alone and learn how to do things the for the lack of a better word (hard way). It is way more gratifying believe me.

You are right as well but ya know what a couple of smart ass responses to someone in this case will stick with him and hopefully he will never make a move like this again...
Ok now to help you, see if you can get into download mode and odin a recovery onto your phone. If not try and odin back to stock and start over from scratch. I am sure you have a backup on your phone so you can always restore that.
Now while your phone is being fixed do some reading up before you jump into things. Flashing is an addiction but it can also be a very expensive habit (If you know what I mean)
Edit: Just noticed Florida is up in here thick!
I've been flashing roms since MyTouch3G and Windows Mobile days.
I just thought Rom Manager was more dependable than that. It even prompted me for my device type...
I'm unable to get into recovery but I am able to get into download mode, so I'll revert with Odin and reroot this evening...

Yeah, I got it sorted out after I got home. Just re-flashed recovery, it's all good now.
Thanks everyone.
Looks like you had better luck than me, Rom Manager bricked my phone when I told it to do a backup.

Click on PDA that's it if you can do it. Make sure nothing like partition is checked that would mess you all up. Never knew they had a odin su zip then again I never checked.

Super wierd flashing problem HELP!!

So i recently was running little minions rom and i wanted to try another one so i backed up my little minions rom but i couldnt restore i renamed it. and now i am on stock firmware, rooted with cwm recovery but after i tried to flash little mions rom again, or wicked v8, or any rom it shows a message that says "E: Cant open /storage/sdcard1/WICKED_v8.zip"(bad) Installation aborted
So guys i have found a fix to this little annoying problem!
The fix to this is actually super simple! all you have to do is go into cwm recovery then go down to Mounts/Storage then from there go to format scard1 (externalSD) ounce your done formatting. reboot your phone and put the Custom rom you want to flash in your externalSD go into recovery and flash the Rom normally! Vuala! you have fixed this little annoying problem
MAKE SURE TO COPY ALL THE FILES YOU WANT TO YOUR COMPUTER AS THIS WILL DELETE EVERYTHING ON YOUR SD CARD THANKS
Never mind i found out how to fix it im taking this down now
Why not post how you fixed it, that way it might help someone else with the same problem. Give back to community.

I am goung to assume that this will erase all files on the card. Perhaps you should let people know they need to make a copy of any files they want to keep before doing this. Good fix. Thanks for posting.

S4 seems to be getting stuick on bootup of ROM & other issues

Hello and thanks to all those before me who give great advice on troubleshooting....
Here's my situation:
Phone is Rooted.
I downloaded an app a few days ago from the Play Store, so I could move my app installs to the sdcard. When i installed the app it said that there was something wrong " can't remember the exact message " and it needed to fix it. My dumbass allowed it to fix it and here is where my problems began.
Right after that I began receiving a message "Shell has been granted Super User", phone began to run sluggish and the Play Store App would always say it was crashing.
So I figured, screw it I would format and start w/a new ROM anyway.... I did not have any sort of backup (of course dumbass)
However I loaded up the latest version of Odin 3.09 and just incase I installed the root.zip again incase that was destroyed. Then I installed the latest version of OUDHS CWM-Based Recovery 1.0.3.3 ( Previously I had TWRP )
I downloaded a few different roms so I could see what I wanted...However...here's where things get interesting, and I did do some research on it but couldn't find a way to resolve the 1st problem.
When I first started to install a ROM, don't remember which one I was getting a signature verification failed....I had read that it could be 2 things, one the MD5 was bad, I verified that, so that wasn't the issue. Then I came across that it may have been a ROM that my device(Samsung) somehow knew wasn't approved, therefore prevented it from being installed....OK fine...
Next I found a ROM that was going to work via installing...So i picked the CM10.2 and wiped/format/davik/cache...etc... Installation took a few mins...Then when I rebooted, it's been on the Cyangenmod screen for 45 mins +....
Is there anyway I can do some verification that something further isn't interfering w/my installs?
Thanks in advance and any guidance is GREATLY appreciated...
Regards
Erik

Actually I tried that and I used this one from stockroms.net TMB-M919UVUAMDL-1366964131.zip
the verification failed immediately, however, when I checked it w/the MD5 hash on my computer it checks out...That's where I'm wondering if there is something else going on...
Or are you talking about something else regarding stock? If so could you clarify...Thanks
Use sam mobile.com
And flash the mdl fw from there. Also you may have to unzip the original file to get a tar file
