I really like the layout and colors on this MattedBlues theme.
It would be very appreciated if someone that has the knowledge to do it would share the wealth.
I would definitely give it a try if I had any idea how to do it!
Thank you in advance
There a theme porter script in xda somewhere that I used to mess with when id port themes for personal use.. if I have time tonight ill give it a shot if no one else does..

blah.. don't have time to do this right now.
here the theme porter ive used in the past. just follow instructions.
theme porter... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737526
update.zip packager... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717437
what i do.
get theme
get rom.
extract both.
place needed files in correct "new" and "old" folders..
run script..
move "new" folder back into cm7 unzipped folder where you took them from.
rezip into flashable zip..
if you google how to make a flashable.zip you should get a link to xda somewhere.
has a script too that does it for you. then just flash in cwm.
p.s. im workin on this right now. ill try to upload tonight. if not tomorrow after work.
Lol funny thing is I ported this for myself already, I just got winrar and replaced the SystemUI.apk images, and the framework-res images, and if you want the apps stuff too then replace those as well and done.
When I tried to flash it a week or two ago it made me loose service, so I had to do it that way and such, although I do not understand why it would make me loose service

That looks great! Do you still have the zip you can share? If not, then I will try to figure it out!
Thank you in advance!

I will add it to the latest nightly, although I have no idea if this will let me upload a entire rom o.0
if cimer doesn't get it i'll continue work. kinda more of a learing process right meow.
i got everything themed over. i guess i should include the apks from the themed rom, and not the ones in cm7 since they don't show up themed when i open them i.e. dialer, market etc.. threw it together quickly. boot animation, notification bar and font taken care of. i'll continue tomorrow.
if this works, pretty sure it will.. i'll start porting more themes.
Awesome.....
Is there any way to add the zip as just a flashable theme, rather than part of a full rom? I am currently only using CM7 RC2, not any of the nightlies.
Anything I can do to help, plz let me know!
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
Yes there is a way to just do a flashable zip, although since I have no idea what caused me to loose service I did it directly with the Rom. I will play around with it tonight when I have time.
If you want to do it your self you just need the latest nightly, the latest matted blues and just copy things into the appropriate folder using winrar. It's really simple.
Edit: @shady if you want to do it you can, I have yet to get started.

Well this morning I got the theme ported... the best I could anyways. I'm by all means no sort of dev or themer.. I just like to tinker. but I got the theme ported.. only thing I noticed was lockscreen icons weren't themed.. idk if they are or not originally in the evo theme.. and in setting the "highlight" or whatever its called was still the orange color.. honestly idk how to change any of those. Like I said I only tinker.. but id say like 95% of the theme ported over just fine.. I was using it, but flashed back to lucid theme on my way to work. Ill work on this and see if I can make the update.zip just the theme and not a full rom...

Mine were not original either it's alright the lock should be blue and a couple of other tweaks,
The whole theme works great by copying the icons and imgs in framework res.apk. to the cm7 framework and over writing it. I have tried the theme porter method but apk manager works the best so far that I've tried if I get permission from developer I will post the theme later tonight. I only have it up to build 19 though

Did you get permission?
And wouldn't basing a theme on a RC be a better idea? Just saying
Just waiting for a pm back from him but I bet it would be better I just use the nightlies and did it for myself but I can do the rc2 tonight and send him another pm

I hope someone can get it working.......I have been try and keep getting all kinds of fc's on all kinds of programs.........it was frustrating so I took a break from it.
Hopefully someone will be able to get this working on RC2 or maybe the developer will eventually add it to the theme engine as an apk
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
I also tried to contact the developer several times, and didn't get any response. I'm sure they are busy tweaking this for the evo and nexus s. Its really a solid theme

1) Get Winrar
2)Download the ROM you want to flash
3)Open the rom with winrar (Avoids resigning it yourself)
4)Replace the Framework-res.apk located in system/framework with the theme you want
5)Replace the SystemUI.apk located in system/app with the theme you want
6) Close the window
7) Put it on your SD card to flash, remember always make a backup just in case.
Also note if you want the themed icons for apps just replace all the apps in system/apps
This is for people that want to use it personally, you would need to contact the dev. in order to release it to everyone.

This does NOT work. Atleast not for me. I downloaded CM7 RC2 and downloaded CM7RC2 version of MattedBlues. I tried 3 different variations.
1.) I replayed all files from mattedblues into the cm7 rom folder. This allowed me to boot into CM7 with the theme applied, HOWEVER, I had no internet connection and I get about 3-4 FC during the google apps setup
2.) So I tried being selective and only copied framework over and a few of the apps in the app folder. Maybe 3 or 4 apps, like gmail, systemUI, phone etc. This didn't give FC, instead it wouldn't let me have internet connection.
3.) So I just followed the guide exactly and copied only the framework over and the systemUI over. This caused no internet and almost immediate FC on google apps setup. So I just went back to MIUI.
P.S. I tried two different kinds of GAPPs. I tried the ones that come with CM7 rom in the ROM Manager and I tried another GAPPs I downloaded previously for Iceandfire. Just to experiment. Both failed in the same way.
Thanks for the try though. I would LOVE to see a real port of this rom. One of the best (if not the best) looking themes out right now.
I've ported MattedBlues to the G2 just for you guys. Pick it up at the official thread here.
Hi there, I'm looking to get started with some basic editing of the UI on my galaxy nexus and have not found any place to start. Can someone point me in the right direction?
What I would suggest is to download one of the themes in the apps and themes forum. Dig through the zip and see which files they modified.
The two apk's that are usually modified are:
SystemUI.apk located in system/app
Framework-res.apk located in system/framework
There is also a lot of info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=527
Good Luck!
Are you rooted? What ROM are you running? Are you using a different launcher or just stock launcher? What exactly did you have in mind for your UI?

Above is the basic paths, but if you really want to go in balls deep let me recommend APK multi tool. It allows you to quickly decompile APKs like systemui and modify them and then recompile and push them to your phone without too much trouble. Shouldn't bee too much trouble to set up if you know what your doing and already have ADB installed on your PC.

Hi people, this is my very first contribution to this forum. Basically, after switching to CM9 then back to stock, I felt that I was really missing out the ICS spell checking feature (which I don't know why Samsung disabled it).
While searching this forum, I stumbled upon this thread here, which enables the spell checking feature on S2 ICS. The guy posted the changes he made to the files, and I simply applied the same changes to the S3 files (with some improvisation, as they are a bit different).
I tested the mod with a deodexed XXBLG9 ROM here. However, theoretically, it should work on other deodexed stock-based ROMs.
-----------------------
Instruction:
1. Install AOSP Jelly Bean Keyboard from Play Store (link)
2. Reboot to recovery and create NANDroid backup (IMPORTANT!)
3. Use any root explorer to replace \system\app\SecSettings.apk and \system\framework\framework.jar with the files provided below.
4. Make sure that the permission and owner of the files are the same as original (0644)
5. Reboot
Voila!
I was thinking to create a CWM-flashable zip file, but since I am still n00b here, I couldn't. Can somebody teach me how? Better yet, just post a reply here, and I will add it to this post.
EDIT: Taught myself how to create the zip (I was doing it wrong the first time round). The CWM-compatible zip is now added, including uninstaller.

Will this work with the Galaxy S3 for AT&T?
Can anyone help me implement this on the stock Galaxy ROM?
Starting from the jelly bean update, the language files are completely removed from the system's apk and jar files. It would probably require more than just a simple mod to enable it. I will try when i have time.

I had a thread on the GSII Forums for an APK Repository and it was heavily used. Since I'm now on the GSIII and starting devlopment I figured I'd start the APK Repository for this forum as well. I will do my best to keep a complete list of all Stock and AOKP APK's. I WILL NOT add any paid apk's to this list so please don't ask. Also, if I include any modded apk's or customized items that other developers created I'll be sure and give credit to them.
Hope this thread helps.
** I am not responsible for your phone if anything happens. Please flash at your own risk and be sure to MAKE BACKUPS. **
The main purpose behind this thread is to have a central location for all the Stock Jelly Bean and ICS APK's. I will include Mods for APK's as well as I find them.
Instructions for Flashing APK's
**Most APK's are just like any other app. You download and install it like any other app.
Some APK's are system apps (Email, Exchange, Messages, any app that can't be deleted without using TiBu). For these APK's you will need to:
DO A NANDROID BACKUP or backup your phone however you see fit. If you fail to do this and something goes wrong, please don't start trolling this thread.
1. Download the APK
2. Use a Root Explorer and move the downloaded APK to your system/app folder
3. Reboot in to Recovery
4. Wipe Cache Partition and Dalvik Cache (Dalvik Cache is located under 'Advanced')
5. Reboot Phone and Enjoy
*NOTE: If you have any permission issues with system APK's or Moving them to the system/app folder you may need to change their permissions. To do this, open a root explorer and navigate to the system/app folder and find the APK you moved there. Check the permissions and make sure they are set to rw-r--r--. If you have any other issues try wiping dalvik cache again and rebooting your phone.
Here is a free root explorer that I use, there are several others in the market.

I've never needed to set permissons for the service APKs when I add them directly to the system/app folder or if I'm replacing system apk's with something different. If I need to update the thread to include how to change permissions I'll be more than happt to do so. I assume the system/app folder has permissions assigned to it and any APK's that fall within that folder inherit the same permissions. If I'm wrong let me know.
Thanks for the heads up.

Some apps will work and some will not. If they are system apps that can't be deleted without using titanium backup or manually removing them from the system/app folder more than likely you'll have issues with them.

I should have all the apks uploaded tomorrow so hopefully you can find the widget you want.

Is the S Planner widget APK in any of these (I see one named "Calendar" but I'm not sure if that's S Planner, or if it is if it's the widget). I have the app on my phone but not the widget (using KYAN rom) and would like to reinstall the widget somehow.
Thanks.

I have uploaded the S Planner Widget. You can download it from HERE.
This is a great idea! Suggestion if its ok. Maybe indicate which are Touchwiz dependent or are safe to install regardless of Rom.. I can see a new person thinking they can download the original apk and install it on a non Touchwiz rom. We know how much everyone reads before flashing.

I have the APK's broken out in the OP based off ROM (TW and AOKP). If users decide they don't want to read the OP and flash something that isn't made for their rom....I can't be responsible for that. I'm also not certain what apps will work on different roms and which ones will not. I haven't tested all apk's on all ROM's. I'm just doing my best to provide a centralized location that members can come to and download apk's they have lost or need.
Any way to get the group MMS apk in here?

As an UN-experienced dev, I am attempting to theme a stock rom that has already been rooted, de-odexed and zipaligned.
other that theming non-stock launchers, is there a way to install a theme chooser compatible with cm10 and aosp themes?
Thanks

As long as the assets are compatible (have to check drawable-hdpi in each apk) then you should be able to simply push a new SystemUI.apk to /system/app/ I made my own theme for the first ICS release by DMan, and pushed it through ADB and it works fine.
If there are assets missing, or not set up right (EX: missing .9 patches) it could bootloop or cause your SystemUI to crash. So backup before testing, obviously.

So I might get lucky by just pushing systemui.apk from cm9 or cm10?
My goal is to be able to use a theme like cobalt blue for cm10 on a stock rooted rom!

No sir. CM themes use different assets, you'd have to manually mix and match the proper assets to the drawable-hdpi folder of the stock ROM.

ok I found something very close to what I was looking for! Here is a link to what I want to have done!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334922&page=1629
I have attempted to manually paste the items into the rom I'm working on but to wont boot, not will doing this to individual system apk's render them not to work! I read through the thread and it seems that the op isn't responding anymore to the thread!
being you are a very eperienced themer, would it be possible for you to look at this and maybe get this to work for the glide?
I would greatly appreciate this.
if you are able to, here is a link to the rom a friend and I have been working on that we would like to have this them working on!

Its likely not booting due to missing assets. Almost every ROM has different SystemUI/Framework assets. Example, the theme elements in Cyan10 are vastly different than any of our stock roms.
If you want to convert a theme from another phone, it can be done. But its not as simple as just pasting the corresponding apk in. It depends on othee things as well... The glide's main theme file is SystemUI.apk, whereas some phones use Framework-res.apk so there is also that to consider.
Converting themes from another device, you'll have to go in to the theme you want to convert, and match the files up to the theme you're replacing. You'll have to change file names and make sure no files are missing, also make sure you're only using HDPI themes.
