So are our screens any good? I've had a vibrant before and a nexus s and now that I think about it the vibrants screen seems the best out of these 3 but the reason I was thinking about it is this girl I work with has a Samsung stratosphere and I put her phone up to mime both display on brightest and her colors were popping and more bright . I though these were all the same screens but I'm disappointed in this screen personally. Love the phone absolutely but what do you guys think.

The colors pop because the colors are over saturated like crazy.

This ^^.. For a while I thought I had a bad display because my colors didn't pop that much but then I realized some GN devices are over saturated...which is not necessarily a good thing.

So can you elaborate more? If it looks better I don't see why it matters why , it still looks better...

Our HD Super Amoled displays have more of a neutral color than say a Super Amoled + display where colors pop a tad more because the displays are over saturated. Our displays seem to deliver more natural colors but I've come to notice some GN devices are over saturated and just don't look natural. It's always a matter of preference...so yea it doesn't really matter.

It might look better in some situations but when you over saturate colors there are always negative impacts

This is the 4 time I've heard that but no one can say how or why lol...

I turned on my Sensation yesterday (with its SLCD screen) and it's nothing compared to the Nexus. It's like night and day
Seriously
I believe the Franco kernel has the option to modify that color saturation. A lot of what you are perceiving too varies wildly with the brightness level. Seems more muted at low brightness and more oversaturated at max brightness

So you think that inaccurate colors are inherently as good as accurate colors? Oversaturation is a negative effect, period. You're not seeing the image as its creator intended you to see it. It's that simple.
Hi. This is going to be really hard to explain but lets just say im at the homescreen for a couple of seconds and then i hit the app drawer/menu button to go to my apps, then go to settings or anything with a dark background i can see the app drawer button imprinted on the screen .is this screen burn in .. It dissapears after a while .its like the screen take its time to adjust colours ..

I've heard that these phones have screen issues, but these are LED screens, not CRT. As far as I know, its not a burn-in issue.
It could just be a slow draw time on your ROM which causes an overlapping image. Try doing a nand backup and then install another rom. Then from there we could determine if its a physical issue

I upgraded to this phone about a month ago, and my spouse got the GSIII. I love the phone and wouldn't trade it for anything. However, often my spouse asks me to do stuff for her on her phone, so I get to play with the GSIII pretty often. When I use her phone it seems so much smoother in its scrolling.
Is it just because it has a smaller screen? Has anyone else noticed that? Not a big deal for me, I still don't want a GSIII, but it is just something I noticed. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

the sIII have 306 PPI vs noteII's 267 PPI
Is her gs3 stock. I have a gs3 and it's not as fast as my note 2.

How can you get smoother than perfectly smooth? I recommend another launcher like Nova.
Launcher, screen transition effects, widgets, and use of live wallpapers will affect smoothness. Compare similar setups, then decide. My Note 2 is smoother than my wifes GS3.

same situation here. the gs3 is way "smoother" than my note 2. not faster... smoother. hard to explain...
it's almost like the frame rate is higher? but when I use the lady's gs3, it's quite noticeable.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I have Nova Launcher prime. One home screen. No live wallpaper....or live widgets. The GSIII is just smoother when scrolling in menus...no other way to dice it. Perhaps its a Qualcomm vs. Exynos issue?

Who gives a damn we all love this phone more than the s3. Believe me
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I think its not the note 2 being so bad but just shows how really good of a phone the s3 is. The only reason i moved on was bc iam 6 foot 4 with gorilla hands lol and i love the way the note 2 feels. I dont use the multiview or the s pen. My fiance still has the s3 and i agree its a very smooth phone.

Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I just had to do a side by side scrolling test in google and I see exactly what you mean. Im almost 100% sure its the screen size making it seem smoother. Screen brightness also seemed to make the screen more or less smooth.

You're the only person who actually brought up the processor difference! Even tho the GS3 is a dualcore you guys have to remember it has a newer chip Snapdragon S4 Krait then the one on our Quadcore Note 2. Which is the same Exynos 4412 chip on my previous Epic Touch but with two more extra cores. In other words it's old! Still no big difference tho to be so worked up about. Unless you're going to use both phones back to back you won't notice a difference..

I know that... the gs3 can also do net/camera send while on a call and the note 2 cannot. the gs3 is a better phone hardware wise, screen not withstanding

That's due to the Qualcomm chip too. No 3g data over phone calls is the only thing I hate about my Note.

not on Sprint. the chip can't handle it on cdma. I know it does on att. txt msg comes through though, regular mms. so I appreciate the pleasures where they come

If you're on LTE it can send and receive mms, and browse the Web while you're on a call. It's not that the chip can't handle it. It's just that 3g and voice use the same hardware so you can't do both, but you can while on LTE.
And sprint just disabled the camera when on a call. The note is more than capable of doing it.

You can do 3G data on calls on the GS3, HTC EVO LTE, VIPER, and other Qualcomm based phones. I had the Sprint GS3 and had no issues using data and calls at the same time. Everybody knows that! Where you been?
Our Note can't do it because it has the Exynos chip.
