[Q] No Touchwiz + Stock Android Keyboard - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello everybody. I just have a small question and it has been frustrating me for the past week. I do not like the Touchwiz on my Note 2, I prefer the stock android; it looks better in my opinion. I also like the stock keyboard better than the Samsung keyboard. Is there a custom rom or a trick I can do to accomplish both of these on my Note? I love everything else about my phone, except for these two things. :crying:

If you look in the dev sections, you'll see both options for aosp/CM roms, and roms that are themed for looking like aosp.
Read 'um up.

[Q] Closest thing to "Project AOSP" for Sprint Note II?

I've been looking around and I don't see much here in the way of hybrid ROMs like Project AOSP (Note II ROM with TouchWiz almost completely removed or hidden)
It seems to be pretty either/or. The problem with that is, while CM/Paranoid Android are decent ROMs, they're missing things and still have issues (call volume, Bluetooth issues, etc) and while TouchWiz is fully-functional it's ugly as sin and the menus/settings are nowhere near as good as CM/PA's
Are there any good TW-less ROMs for our Sprint variant of the Note II or am I stuck with the Nova/Apex band-aid that doesn't get rid of TouchWiz' ugly dialer, settings and menus?
edit: NoWizAOSP is close, but it seems Project AOSP is a lot more stock-complete.
Try jellybeans rom, mackentosh ported build 5 from verizon note 2 to our phones. Recently I flashed beanstown's "jellybeans" rom build 17 which is based on the 4.1.2 ota from verizon. Its much more updated and stable and uses aroma to let you choose if you want aosp and or twiz features. Heres a couple pics of my phone..

Sounds to me, you have more an issue with aesthetics of the stock rom, more than function. You may be better served by looking for rethremed stock apps, such as the dailer. I assume you have issues with some of the bloat, but have enough knowledge to remove it with something like Titanium Backup.
Personally, TouchWiz doesn't bother me. I'm going more to a minimalist approach. I'm down to one home screen page. I just use a few folders for categories of apps I use frequently. No widgets. On another note, I really haven't like all the themes people are using with their roms. Not that they don't look nice; just doesn't appeal to me.

[Q] Which ROM is stock android ?

Hi folks,
I really wanted a new ROM for my galaxy note II,
however of all roms, I really wanted a ROM which is just pure stock android, no modifications, hyper this and that, no included themes, etc. I also don't like the roms that comes with samsung (kies) since it is already modified from stock android.
Are there any ??
Any help would be appreciated
Try Tweaked. It's basically stock but with the possibility of modifying some of the things. Once installed, is not pure pure stock, but everything can be reverted to stock. No themes or anything weird. Go with the basic installation.

Ummm... I think was so asleep I misread your post... I don't think you are going to find stock Android in a Note II. The closest might be maybe... Cyanogenmod? or Paranoidandroid? You might be losing the S-Pen functionality.
Tweaked is the best if you are trying to debloat your device and tweak some minor things, but is not "pure android". I think that bought the wrong phone if you want pure android. For the N7100, the best thing I found was the Simplistic Framework.
What is the final purpose you are pursuing?
So cyanogenmod , paranoid, and tweaked, all will make my s-pen function disabled?
Which one of the three is the most "clean" and without all those addons that I dont really need...?
Thanks
Try this, based on CM but very stock feeling, and it makes your phone fly in combination with awesome battery life. For S-pen features, you can perfectly still use the S-pen with stock android (AOSP) rom, all you need to install is
CM S Pen Add-on
Note Buddy (to assign the app that needs to be launched after you pull the S Pen out)
Papyrus (assign this app to be launched with Note Buddy)
This is my daily rom and it's awesome, I consider my Note 2 as a Nexus 4 with big screen on steroids
^
This looks like what you want. Just as a point, if you use a lot the radio, be careful with spirit radio.
In tweaked you don't lose the s-pen functionality, by the way.
I just tried android revolution. It looks totally stock samsung touchwiz.
Just need to change launcher to apex, and it feels totally different already
Give go a chance as well. I prefer apex in tablets.

Btw, what is actually the differences between 'original android' and 'android' roms? at least for me, after I changed each of them with apex launchers they all looked the same. Except some settings view maybe.
Pure Android is what comes with a Nexus. A pure unmodified Android as it was conceived by Google. What it looks your are searching for is a debloated version of your stock Android, which is different: Samsung doesn't come with pure android, it comes with a variant called TouchWiz that I like better. The launcher is something completely different. If you use a custom launcher your interface will be similar in every device, but the "framework" and settings will stay the same of the version you are using and that is something you can only modify through a custom ROM.
By the way, debloated means you have removed all the extra packages coming with your android included by your carrier and the manufacturer. For instance, Note S, Kies, the t-mobile stuff, etc. You don't have to debloat a Nexus device as it already comes clean.

[Q] Favorite Touchwiz based ROM?

Greetings fellow humans,
I've been playing with CyanogenMod for a couple of weeks, and while I appreciate the custamizability of CM, but I miss some of the polish of TouchWiz (particularly WiFi Calling). I've considered flashing the stock ROM, but it lacks customization options, has that annoying bloatware, and is stuck at 4.1.2.
Do you have a favorite ROM based non Touchwiz for the T-989? I've heard Omega is great, but it seems like it's only for the S3.
Every rom here is great, try them all.
Users are expected to do their own research into getting this, very personal answer for their devices. This thread is closed

[Q] TouchWiz And S Pen Support

Currently I'm running NB4 and 4.4.2. I'm running AOSP with Slimkat, and multiple apps to make the S Pen usable again. However, I'm looking to switch to TouchWiz but I'm wondering if there is ROM compatible with my device that has an AOSP theme. Or perhaps the UI is just different enough to not look like TouchWiz. I'm trying to get full S Pen Support just like stock, so those apps need to come with the ROM. Also if it's debloated that would be great too in addition to having 4k recording and a great camera app.
I've looked around in our forums but need some suggestions, this isn't a which is the best thread, it's looking for TouchWiz ROMS that may have different theme options close to AOSP, compatible with my device, and all the features and apps from stock. I was interested in X Note, but apparently it's not supported on our device.
Thank you for your time.
Would this work?

Thinking of moving from Touchwiz to a stock ROM

Since getting my Note 2, I've only stuck with Touchwiz-based ROMS, but I really like the stock Android experience and I'm wondering what I'd be losing by moving to an AOSP-based rom.
Obviously, most of the pen features would be gone, but with apps like GMD SPen Control, third-party note taking apps, third-party multi-window and way better launchers (I use Nova now anyways)... what extra stuff do I loose that I might regret? I use the camera a lot on this phone, and even with about 6 third-party camera apps that I've purchased, I still like the Samsung stock camera app.
So before I jump, have any of you moved to a stock rom and regretted it? Why?
Camera isn't as good - slower to focus, burst mode isn't as good.
I rarely use S-pen, so can't really comment on that.
Most keyboards out there don't have a separate number row - there is a hacked version of the Google keyboard on here though.
Can't really think of much else - about the only thing I actually miss is call recording. If you take the plunge, I think SOKP is a very good place to start. Great customisations, good support.
In my experience AOSP roms have a little worse battery life than touchwiz.Elsewise there isn't really much to lose.
If you have a bit of trouble making up your mind you use Devil kernel dual boot.
This way you can have both AOSP 4.4 and Touchwiz 4.3 (no official 4.4 yet).

Damn. I guess ill be sticking with a touchwiz rom. Looks like I'll loose more than I'll gain. Thanks for the replies.

yeah I alwasys seem to come back to the TW roms ... I like the pen features alot...
and with custom 4.4 TW rom coming very soon for t0lte (n7105) I will be very happy.
vanilla kitkat roms are very nice otherwise.
I think you also lose HDMI out and you have to format your sdcard to FAT32.
