Hi there,
I tried to install a recovery mod to change the rom on my LG Optimus G (e975).
When I launch ROM Manager in "Current Recovery" tab, it tells me that I have TWRP but when I try to reboot into recovery mode, I always have an error:
Secure boot error!
Cause: boot verify certification

I tried with clockwork mod recovery and it does not work. I have the same problem when i reboot in recovery: Secure boot error!
Can someone help me?
FYI, I "bricked" my phone a few days ago so I applied the KDZ method to unlock and it worked well.
Thank you in advance and sorry for my poor english. I'm french
Small question,by any chance, did you unlocked the bootloader?.

Woups ...
Ahem. I have not seen in the tutorials that I had to unlock the bootloader.
It's done with FreeGee (french phone) and ... obviously, it work now.
Thx

Hello all,
I have the E975 Optimus G. Rooted and tried to install CWM over "BootTools"... and failed it seems :/
when I try to boot, I just have the screen "secure booting error cause: boot certification verify" and bootloop
Factory rested yields the same error (and fails)
CWM not installed it seems :/
please, can anyone give me an advise ?
If you don't unlock bootloader first with freegee you won't be able to flash CWM.

I can agree, but for now I can do nothing at all :/ any clue ? please :/
I found this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010624
and... solved my issue YEAH !
But I don't understand how I made this mess... it is definitively not my first rooting and CWM installation on Android devices...
I will read all tutos again with care...
does anyone had any problems installing CWM ?
What is it so hard to underwtand.locked bootloader means security checks.if you don't disable these checks, you can't install cwm.
Freegee does both, unlocking the bootloader and install custom recovery(either twrp or cwm).
It has always b3en like this on locked phones.
It's not compared with samsung devices, where a simple root is bringing the cwm too.with og you need to do one more operation

I see and yes, my experiences were some old HTC and some Samsungs
thanks alot let's go for FreeGee
PS : does thes (above) restauration method will almost always save my phone ? because in this case I will keep it in a very secured place
Hello there,
I'm planning to install ClockWorkMod Recovery into my phone, the Optimus G F180L. But of course, Since F180L is only sold in Korea, it seems very tricky to actually install this.
So, I downloaded ROM Manager, and tried to install ClockWorkMod Recovery from there.
But it gave me 3 options: LG Optimus G e970 (AT&T), LG Optimus G e973 (Canada), and LG Optimus G ls970 (Sprint).
Which one would be closest to the Optimus G F180L, or even the International version (e975)?
If you do require one, here's a screenshot: Actually, since I'm a 'n00b', I'll just attach the screenshot if you do need it.

There's nothing wrong with that... First of all, did you root your phone? Second, did you unlock your bootloader with FreeGee? If not, you can't install custom recovery. Third, my suggestion would be to forget the ROM Manager, and the regular CWM. Install PhilZ Advanced Touch CWM. This will be the last recovery you'll ever need.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462938
When you unlock your bootloader, FreeGee gives you an option to install a custom recovery (TWRP, I believe). Do it, and then from that recovery, flash PhilZ. Done.
Well, I did get ClockworkMod Recovery to work (the regular one, couldn't get the advanced one), but still have some problems.
I'm trying to get Cyanogenmod 10.2 (Stable) version to work on my Optimus G, but it just keeps giving me the 'Status 7" Error.
I'm guessing that it is because I'm using the International Version of the Optimus G. But my phone is a bit different, as I've already talked about (Korean F180L model). I think that is why the asset or whatever this didn't work, and thus, failed to install.
So, any ways to fix this problem? does fixing the "e975" to "F180L" work?
Thanks.:good:

I responded to your PM. Just to summarize the steps that I would suggest you do:
1. Use LG Flash Tool 2014 to flash a stock KDZ. Forget the standard LG tools.
2. Root your phone (depending on the version, you can use ioroot25, or ZV9-ZVB-Universal-Root, or whatever works for you).
3. Install FreeGee, then unlock your BL (I always used Mako method), and install the custom recovery.
4. Flash PhilZ Advanced Touch CWM. This is the best recovery available, hands down (in my experience).
Bro how long does it gonna take to get the process completed? I Download flash tool 2014 but I guess its not moving see here...27 minutes and still 44℅
Hi guys just got a second hand LG Optimus G Pro, but the problem is I can't flash any CM11 ROM's and I am unable to enter recovery mode with hardware keys. I tried Power + Vol up but still cannot enter it. It just stays at black screen. Another problem is I am sure the one I am having is an LG E988 model, but I cannot install CM11 e98x ROM's it just keep saying this model is f310lr. What should I do?
E988 if I'm correct is the Korean version of the G pro. The conflict looks like issue with the compatibility of nightly build. I'll have to get back with you on this.
have you tried another recovery?

Only TWRP 2.8.1.0 can be used, flashed via Flashify, CWM/ Philz all giving error upon entering. If I use any Loki type installer it just says xxx loki not found.
When I have it already on KitKat.
EDIT: Solved, the recovery is not build to be meant use on our phone. Working TWRP.
Happy Holidays ppl!!! :sly:
I get "Secure Booting Error! Cause: boot certification verify" every time I try to boot to recovery.
I updated to the latest stock using the flashing guide in the FAQ, rooted it with the script that now has a 1 click script then tried to install TWRP via the app but I get that every time I try to get in to recovery. Download mode and normal boot works fine.
Any help is welcome.

Solved for me
Hope this helps:
I f*cked up my phone by going into a secret menu and clicking test..something. Don't remember the name, or why I clicked it. After that, I tried to get rid of the error by trying EVERY method I could find on XDA, but nothing worked. Even had working TWRP.
Finally, I flashed an original .KDZ found by IMEI on this site: http://lg-firmware-rom.com/ using kdz method found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089 , AND NOW IT WORKS.
Goddam stressfull )

Well, surely you have flashed a non-bumped recovery.
Simply boot your device, download and install the proper Autorec (depends by the firmware you're running).
You'll get a bumped and working recovery.
i had the same error i went from a nougat rom that required the baseband 21c but i could get to recovery by pressing volume down and power, releasing when the logo appears and then holding them again, select format data yes, confirm, and that brings up recovery to solve the secure boot, certificate verify error i downgraded twrp from 3.1 to 2.8 (above 2.8 allows you to flash recovery image from twrp) i then flashed a new modem for 6.0 roms did a factory reset and then installed my new rom nimax rom hope this helps someone

Since you have twrp just flash a kernel or a new rom through twrp.
Cool thanks man. I was kinda stuck there. I couldn't get my pc to see the phone, had to wait for a micro sd card to put the kernel on. Thanks a lot

LG G3 LS990 - ZVB - Rooted + TWRP - Flash Stock Recovery Only
Hi, I am looking for flashing stock recovery on my LG G3 Sprint LS990. I believe the same method will work. I am currently running on stock ZVB ROM rooted and TWRP installed as recovery. In the download folder for LS990-ZVB http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G3/LS990/stock_partitions/ZVB, there is no recovery image file, but in ZVA folder there is. I am just wondering if I can flash ZVA folder's recovery image using Flashify to my ZVB ROM LS990 and if that will work.
My LS990 is rooted and currently have TWRP. i get secure boot error when the phone reboots after accepting Android updates installation that come automatically. I believe installing stock recovery will resolve this issue and allow to install Android updates I do not want to going back to stock completely, that will unroot my phone and again I have do all these staffs.
Anyone can help to advise, will be appreciated. Thanks.
Worked for me
It's not english, it is portuguese Brazil, but it works.
