Hi everyone. For the last two weeks my Dinc has been doing random reboots and/or all buttons and screen no response lockout.
I have tried CWM and TWRP recoveries. Did full wipes and flashed few different ginger sense roms(TofB, Stock, Sparkplug....) The issue seems not rom related.
Usually the problem happens when I use Video or GPS related apps. Most recent case happened when I was using Splashtop remote app to stream video from Desktop. The video/audio was streaming fine then the screen and all of the buttons including power would not respond at all. The video/sound played fine for about 5 mins then the phone rebooted.
I don't know what is going on and would like for anyone to check the logcat and last_kmsg, hopefully you can see something. I am begining to think maybe the Ram or Nand is failing. A week before the problem started I did flashed to current OTA radio from Evo 2.15.00.05.02 radio that I used for about a year and updated the PRL.
Thank you.

My dinc also started to reboot a few weeks ago. When the last Verizon OTA came out a few months ago
I didn't do it because I am rooted. I read at that time that the one of the fixes in the updates was to prevent spontaneous rebooting, so I may try it now. The update is 4.08.605.19 and it's available on xda. Hope this helps.

Hi, I recently updated from fresh 0.5.3 to damage control 3.2.3 including updating the radio and wiimax radio to the latest version. My camera nor camcorder app will work correctly now. When I click the icon it goes to a black screen and stays that way until I click the home icon to exit. I've tried flashing multiple roms to see if that was the issue, but it hasn't changed anything. Anyone have any ideas or tips? Thanks.
this has been happening to me lately too... can't get camera to launch!!! running RvU and all was well and camera worked fine... now suddenly camera shows icon briefly then goes back to home screen, or, when a few other apps are running goes black until pressing home button. trying to launch camera has locked phone up a few times too. Tried deleting apps (ATK, fring etc...) hard reset, remove battery, re-flashing ROM, re-flashing radio... nothing has worked and it hasn't come back even once. WTF? hardware issue?
everything else seems fine and I don't really want to take it in to Sprint just yet... but miss the cam!!!
edit: so after 10,000 reboots and battery/SD card pulls and 500 lock ups... three days of trying everything and getting really frustrated, my wife says 'did you smack it yet?' rather jokingly... and out of spite for sprint/htc I did give the phone a few thwacks on the backside and the frickin' camera fired up! strange lines/slow tapestry of colors... able to switch over to front camera and take a pic... after rebooting she works like a charm (!!!???)... so far so good...
still not working
Anyone have any advice? I seem to have tried nearly everything. Rebooted 10 times in a row, took my battery out for extended periods, reflashed several roms several times (damage control, bugless beast, etc), and fixed permissions in rom manager. The only 2 things I haven't tried yet which I guess are next on the list is flashing to a rooted version of the new ota rom and formatting my sd card. Any other suggestions people?
I ran into the same problem when I tried to use toast's uv-oc kernel on the latest Rom from Fresh.I reflashed the stock htc kernel and everything's back to normal now.
Hi everyone,
both my wife and I own a HTC Desire (AMOLED). My wife has had the following problem for a while on her unrooted, stock-ROM Desire:
Every now and then the Handy will suddenly restart (show the HTC boot logo) when using Navigation apps. No matter if Google Maps Navigation or other navigation software. Sometimes, this happens after some seconds, sometimes after an hour or so.
No problems so far with my desire.
Last month, I rooted/s-off'ed both devices, did a full wipe and complete fresh install of all apps of both devices, both running on InsertCoin 1.1.4 now.
On this occasion, I also updated Radio ROM of both phones to 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23 (latest Version so far, I think).
Some days later, my phone now also randomly crashes on GPS navigation use. Both run stable, as long as we do not use GPS navigation.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
It's usually an overheating issue that needs HTC to swap the mainboard

Thanks for your reply, though it's sure not what I wanted to hear (actually, what I wanted to hear is something like "push this button and your problem will be solved", but it's not what I expected .
(On overheating: The phone did never crash on other occasions when becoming warm. After a reboot, when restarting navigation, it does not crash again immediately but may work for hours...not too typical for an overheating problem, is it?)
I think I'll wait 'till spring 2012 and get some Ice Cream Sandwich thing then ;-)
You know the desire has a 2 year warranty though, right??
Has anyome else recieved a stability update on the 8.4?
yes for the US SM-T320 8.4 but I'm getting random reboots. it was fine on the earlier version, never had any random reboots. I tried to factory reset after the update but still the same. it seems to do a soft random reboot when you are doing something on the tablet and you leave it idle for a few seconds. It never rebooted while I'm actively using it even if the load is high..

Mine says device modified, I am rooted - any workaround?
I'm currently uploading the new ND3 DeOdex ROM base now. (Tab Pro 8.4 Wi-Fi)
I will also upload the bootloader firmware (Odin flashable) too.
I managed to capture a logcat but I can't seem to identify the cause of reboots, can anyone assist with that pls...

TabPro 8.4 random restarts
Hello guys
So, it appears i am not alone then.
The school i work in as an IT tech, has purchased us 2 TabPro 8.4 tablets and the one i have has given me hell so far with these random reboots.
It has the latest update and is also rooted. It has nothing to do with the root i believe as it did it before and also after applying the latest OTA update. I have now factory reset it and noticed a slight difference in the home screen where i now have 2 pages (1 home screen of course) wheres, as far as i remember, when i first turned it on it only had 1. I may be wrong though.
I didn't sign in to any accounts yet (google, samsung dropbox etc.) and left it with Google chrome and Samsung own browser open. I suppose only time will tell now. It's really bloody frustrating though because i spent hours loading all my apps again and restoring app data via Helium etc.
Another thing i noticed is that even i after wiping the tablet via recovery (Wipe device/factory reset option) it actually kept root.
New device, issues gone
Got my replacement unit from John Lewis today (i must say their service is the best i have seen) and spent hours on the device rooting it and installing all the apps i had on my other unit.
I have not encountered one single reboot so far , whereas my previous unit restarted on me pretty much 30 minutes after i first turned it on.
My advice to you is if you are having stability issues and random restarts with your TabPro 8.4, send it back for a replacement.
I installed the update also and haven't had any issues or random reboots either. The screen sensitivity fixes are great. Huge difference.
I spoke too soon it seems. It did restart on me. Twice. Once whilst caching images on quickpic app and second time installing Samsung's own office suite of applications.

What is this? Stability or Instability update? Sammy, why?
anyone who doesn't suffer from Random reboots, are you rooted?
also those who suffer from reboots, are you all rooted?
My the Theory: I think this reboots are related to being rooted or have knox void.
Mine restarted before root but after I installed the OTA update. I since rooted it but it didn't change a thing obviously. God knows how many times it reboots a day. I leave it in airplane mode with a few apps running and after a couple of hours I notice that the apps that ran on the background are not there anymore so I figured out it restarted. is there anyway to uninstall the OTA update???

Stability update
Since reverting back to old version (and rooting the device again) i have suffered 0 random reboots. Looks like the latest update screws something up.

I have two 8.4's and they both boot when I wake them up. They are rooted with Xposed, but I uninstalled Xposed and tried one without it and it still boots at random. So IMO Xposed/root isn't causing the trouble.
See my other post... wonder if that'll fix this. I'd almost rather have the reboots over the screen sensitivity problem, but either way, the tabs aren't really usable.
Rich
I have used my tab pro 8.4 now for 5 days running on the old firmware rooted and with xposed running, without a single glitch. I'd strongly advise people to avoid updating the tablets to the latest ND3 firmware.

I purchased a tab pro 8.4 a few weeks ago and was noticing random reboots several times an hour. A couple of days later I got the update and didn't see any change in reboot behavior. Couldn't link it to anything at all as it happened before as well as after rooting and adding Xposed.
Changed to Average Joe's debloated (elsewhere in the forums) and have had zero random reboots since. Also running several exposed modules without any problems. Purely anecdotal, but it appears to have increased the overall responsiveness of the device while keeping most of the good things Samsung put on top of stock Android.
New update
Samsung released a new update to the TabPro 8.4 which is supposed to improve stability and add "Kids mode" (firmware version ending with NE3). I gave it a go and the random reboots got back! wiped my device clean and installed NAI firmware and all is well again!
I've had a 2013 Nexus 7 since it came out, and I never really had any issues with random reboots for the longest time. I had even rooted and was running a custom ROM/ kernel, and I had no issues.
It seemed to start once I had installed a different ROM/ kernel, while I was trying new stuff out just for kicks. I started getting random reboots, and I thought it was just the particular ROM/ kernel combination. Figured it was a bug that would get fixed in future updates, so I just tolerated it for a while. But, it persisted through the ROM and kernel updates.
So eventually, I switched ROM and kernel for something brand new, thinking I wouldn't have to worry about it anymore. Nope, still got random reboots. I've jumped around to some other ROM/ kernel setups over the last couple weeks, and no matter what I'm on, I still get random reboots.
It seems to mainly happen while I'm using Chrome (though, in fairness, a majority of what I do is browsing the Internet, so...), but it's also happened once while in the camera app, and also once while the tablet was "asleep" while casting a video to my Chromecast.
It's just getting kind of annoying, at this point. Last night, it rebooted four times in the span of about 45 minutes. Is this a known issue? Are there any fixes for this?
I'm having a similar issue. I run default 4.4.4 and have found no pattern to why its rebooting.
I found a possible solution of switching to ART (instead of dalvik) in developer options. Not sure why this should work, but the tablet hasn't rebooted last day using this. Along with a factory reset (which hasn't helped), I have no real solutions. Next step for me is to reflash the default ROM again to see if this makes a difference.
Any extra tips would be appreciated.
I haven't posted much in these forums so I can't post on the thread of the ROM itself. I'm having some problems with this ROM.
On the newer updates of Hangouts and Snapchat the phone acts super buggy.
In snapchat the video function just freezes the screen. Looks as if I've taken a photo but then snapchat is unresponsive. I've been running this ROM for almost a year and this is the first time I've experienced this.
In Hangouts I'm just experiencing HELLA lag. Which honestly seems to be happening to the phone in general recently (about 2-3months). Whenever I chose a contact and start typing sometimes it'll just go back to the contact selection page. Sometimes as I'm swiping words won't register (in all apps).
Other laggy/buggy issues I've noticed is that the pattern unlock function sometimes lags HARD. Other times the button doesn't wake my phone for like a minute. This didn't happen before when I first started running this ROM.
Any help/insights would be much appreciated.
Have you updated your firmware to the latest? Have you tried doing a factory reset (erasing data and cache)? It sounds like firmware or something on the data partition causing it. Especially since you said you have been running this ROM for awhile and we have had two firmware updates in the past couple months. Also the data issue might he true because there could be an app that is causing this issue. Happens more often than you think.
TL/DR: try new firmware and wipe data/cache from recovery and let us know if it is fixed.
