Hey team, I have a problem and hope someone can point me in the right direction. I have a T-Mobile Note 2 with Jedi ROM installed. I have just become a Straight Talk customer and cut a Sim card to size and put it in my phone. This is the first SIM to ever be in the phone. When my phone boots up I get an error message saying "Invalid SIM CARD!". The SIM is good as it works in the crappy flip phone Straight Talk sent me.
I go through the steps of entering the Straight Talk APN but when I try to save nothing seems to stick. Help! What am I doing wrong? Since I was on Sprint I never had to deal with SIM cards as this is my first GSM phone ...I feel I am missing something obvious.

Is your Straight Talk SIM an AT&T or T-Mobile one? Is your Note 2 unlocked? (If not, flash it to the original, pre-LTE update T-Mobile ROM and unlock it using instructions posted on here.)
Boy I just left straight talk because of throttling me with my gs3.

Thanks for the replys team. I have not 100% solved it yet but I think I'm on the right trail. It looks as if you buy a phone directly from Straight Talk (which i did just to have a cheap backup) they lock the SIM to that particular phone.
I'm heading to walmart to grab a BYOP SIM...hopefully that is my issue.

Quick update. I picked up one of Straight Talks Bring Your Own Phone SIMs and everything is good now. Thanks for those who helped.

I have been doing some digging and I am fed up with big red. I was wondering if I can use my Verizon incredible 2 on straight Talk. From what I understand is they use at&tt and Verizon towers for service. The phone has a sim card in it, so what would stop me from just swapping out sim cards or is there a way to make my sim card work? I have my phone fully rooted with ics on it now. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

If your carrier is AT&T, i'd have to say that just going onto their web chat and asking the rep that you talk to if you could get the unlock code for your phone is probably the easier method. I did that about a month after i got my phone, on contract, telling them that i'd like to have my phone unlocked should something happen where i need to use the phone on another carrier. Didn't work with the first person i talked to, but the second person got me my unlock code.
You didn't search hard enough or at all.....

i just tried this:
Step 1: On your Galaxy Note II, launch the phone app and press these keys:
*#197328640#
and I got this message: "Connection problem or invalid MMI code"
I'm on CM10 stable. Any help?
i know the instructions say to do it on a stock rom, but I was just wondering if it works on customs as well and if so how
I just finished this.. Pretty easy tutorial. Going to find someone with a T-Mobile sim now and see if it worked..

no seriously though; you can use your phone on *any* GSM carrier.
basically anyone but Sprint and Verizon.
plus it nicely hikes up the resale value should you throw it on eBay for some reason or another....

Thanks
So tried this with my i747M and got the "connection problem or invalid MMI code" error. Phone is stock 4.1.1 on Rogers.
Edit: Figured out my issue, wasn't entering the * before the #197328640# code.
Looked like it worked fine for me, but don't have a sim card to test it with right now.

Seemed to work
The instructions completed without issue on Rogers galaxy s3 i747m 4.1.1 jellybean. I do not have a sim card to test the unlock with however, but lte and all other systems seem to be working.
has anyone tried this the other way around? I just followed the steps on my tmobile s3 but I can't verify since I don't have an att sim.
worked perfectly for me on bell , and I tested a telus sim and it worked perfectly!
Confirming that it works. Also, it's not that difficult. I did it in about 5 minutes.

Do you use the same APN settings or are straight talk's different? That would have an effect if they're supposed to be different.
I didn't compare the two, but I'm pretty sure they're different: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1856574
So apparently the SIM that came with the straight talk cheap phone cannot be used on any other phone they're tied together and now im basically f***** because the sims are worthless too me the cheapy phone even more so and I can't get a refund on the two 45 dollar airtime cards I bought to start service. Not to mention this information took five hours of calling and being disconnected, redirected, and hung up on with straight talk reps. I'm so pissed right now I hope that company goes up in flames. Go to the straight talk facebook page and post your problem. They'll ask you to open a ticket and they will fix it, or tell you what's wrong.
Hey guys,
I got scammed on craigslist and the guy won't respond. So I bought a T-mobile Galaxy S3 and it worked fine for over a week until 2 days ago when it stopped connecting or registering to the T-mobile network. I found out from T-mobile it was blacklisted as stolen/lost that day. I called to confirm the phone wasn't stolen or lost when I bought it. The T-mobile store says there is nothing they can do except offer me a new phone from the store to pay full price.
Can I unlock a phone marked as stolen/lost using an unlock code and use it on AT&T?
I tried searching the forum and I found a thread about a guy who already had the phone unlocked so he was able to use it on AT&T but in my case, the phone is not unlocked yet but is blocked from T-mobile networks.
Thanks in advance,
Buzz
Well if you unlock it before the whole illegal thing starts you can use it on AT&T.

1111+ Thats correct I have tried every rom out there from att and it worked on my tmobile s3. Now for the op. looks for the thread on general there is one that shows you how to unlock your phone without a code. It was meant to be for the note2 but it worked on all us s3's I have mine unlock that way put in my friends att sim and it worked fine only thing that the speed its a little slower not 2G though. And thats because att's 4g its 20ish not 42.
Any ways. If you were called tmobile and talk to a superviser they can change the IMEI number on their system and the phone would come back to work in 48 hours.
I know because It have happened to me too. It doesnt matter if you have your tmobile sim on it for at least a day tmobile computers will register that phone onto your network.
P.S the only thing that will changed from a ATT rom is that build.prop It will show that its an att rom but you can edit it to d2tmo with root explorer
Just don't flash other modems from other carriers that will Brick you.

i have a note 3 from atyt and is blacklisted i want to use it with tmobile but i wanna be sure if it will work some one have tried ?
I Just traded a buddy a note 2 for my galaxy s3 plus 200 buck and he gave me the phone and at first i thought everything was great but he had been using the phone on att unlocked and paid to have it unlocked so when I put my sim in the phone it didnt read 3g or 4g for tmobile so I went home and rooted the phone and flashed a custom rom and still really really bad data connection .. If I drive in the middle of town my phone gets maybe 1 bar of 3g or 4g and cuts out so went to tmobile store and they called tech support and they said the phone was unlocked and there was a hardware or software problem with the phone so I have no clue were to check .. I have insurance but because the phone is so new insurance wont cover it because its a hardware or software problem so if you have any way to fix this please please please help thanks..
P.S I have tried loading custom recovery , rom and kernel and nothing still data problems . If I search for network it comes up with att and some numbers 311660 under available networks so there is no tmobile to chose from so is the phone done ??
Bump anyone ?
