How do you get this thing into FASTBOOT mode? When I do vol up/dwn+pwr I get SAFE MODE.
So I decided to go the Rom Manager and (for the 4th time now) pay for CWM touch route. WTH, the dev deserves it.
Anyway, it allows me to pay for and download CWM Touch through ROM manager but all I keep getting is "non-touch" CWM when I select and install TOUCH.

worked perfectly fine with me. I selected CWM Touch in ROM manager. turned on the switch for CWM Touch when prompted.
when you want to boot into the different modes, just reboot the phone and hold either the volume down (download mode) or volume up (recovery).

I know how to boot into different modes, that wasn't what I asked but never mind.

Herre is my question once again stated differently:
How can I install CWM TOUCH WITHOUT using ROM MANAGER? This device does not seem to have a FASTBOOT mode and I can't install an IMG file with ODIN AFAIK.
How does one install the downloadable recovery image that was posted a few messages back (the IMG FILE) onto this device?

[Q] Rooting trouble...

hi all. i tried to post this in the same thread but xda wouldnt let me. i rooted my phone following this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726088
and i did everything 100% like the guide except after using odin with a PASS! my phone will not boot into recovery with vol up, home and power being held. did i do something wrong?
edit: i was able to get into recovery once, but it wasnt the clockworkmod. it was the stock recovery. what should i do?
p.s. the phone still boots and works like normal
The problem is that the newer builds (LG8 and later) will overwrite the custom recovery when the phone boots. You need to modify the rootine procedure slightly.
First: download the Team Epic Root From Recovery file from here. Copy that ZIP to the internal SD Card of your phone.
Flash the CWM recovery from ODIN like you did before but do not check the Reboot option. After it loads the recovery you will disconnect from the USB and pull the battery.
Put the battery back in and power on the phone while holding VOL UP, Home and Power. This will get you into the CWM recovery before the ROM has a chance to replace it with the stock recovery. Use CWM to apply the Team Epic Root From Recovery file.
Reboot.
All done.
---------- Post added at 12:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:51 PM ----------
The Team Epic page that describes this procedure is here.
awesome! thank you! seems to have worked. i rebooted and have superuser. thank you very much!

Help rooting & ROM for a 2nd time - no dice !

I have already rooted my S3 and installed AOKP, but I forgot to sync my contacts with Google, so I had to install the stock ROM and then get all my contacts back using Kies.
So, I want to Root my phone again and get AOKP back as I have now syncd my Contacts with Google.
I booted up Odin and put on the file CWM Recovery.tar
I try to go into Clockwork Mod Recovery mode (volume up, home, Pwr buttons), but I get into just the regular Android system recovery (3e) mode and not Clockwork Mod Recovery.
Any suggestions?!?!
Also, in download mode, it states that I have:
Binary: 4 counts
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Custom
How can I get into Clock work mode recovery???
All I want to do is install a custom ROM...!
After using Odin to install the .tar file and having it downloaded successfully with Odin, I still cant get into CMR mode. I am definitely holding down the Vol Up, Pwr & Home buttons at the same time.
Maybe I should clear a cache or reset something?!

So in ROM Manager, I select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" or "Flash ClockworkMod Touch"
sorry for the nOOb questions...
I have tried to "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" using ROM Manager and get an error: An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!
I have also installed Triangle Away to reset my binary counter, but that doesnt work since my phone needs to be rooted.
Use this toolkit. It worked perfectly fir me. Just make sure you follow the directions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746665
And make sure you read everything carefully before you start flashing. Also make a backup of your IMEI. This will save you a headache later.

I have a rooted bone stock UCALG1 ROM that you can flash in ODIN. Then download ROM manager like the other member said to flash CWR. If you want touch without paying for it through Play you have to use Terminal Emulator to push it. I can give instructions for that also if you need them. If you want the rooted UCALG1 zip let me know.
If ROM manager is giving that message either it asked for root and you accidentally clicked deny or it isn't rooted properly. That's the only time i've encountered that message myself.
And Triangle Away will reset that flash counter for you

ClockWorkMod Install

Hi guys, I'm new to the P350 threads as I've mainly been involved with Galaxy 5. On the G5 to get ClockWorkMod I've always used Odin, but this only works with Samsung devices... how can I get ClockWorkMod on my P350? It is rooted and I have tried using Rom Manager but it fails to download every time as soon as the button is clicked (yes I have connection and there is no firewall), I don't want to use ADB. Is there any other way I can get ClockWorkMod? Thanks.

Download ClockWorkMod, unpack recovery.img from downloaded zip, then boot your P350 into fastboot mode, connect your phone to computer and use fastboot utility:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot
That's all.

Hi, thanks for the reply but I'm confused about one thing... what mode should the phone be in when I hook it up to use Fastboot? Should the Rom be booted or should i be in recovery or what?

Easy man,, just download lg-p350's legacy toolkit and easily install your custom recovery, no matter whether u r installing recovery first time or second.'

[Q] its bad

Tried Cyanogen 10.2 d2spr
Sprint Galaxy s3 L710
Android 4.3
Odin 1.85
Got superuser and used goomanager w twrps
made backups
Tried to flash cyanogen and i got error missing md5
tried a fix where you edit the updater-scripts in the cyanogen zip and that didnt work
Then I read that switching to cws would fix the problem, I read that you can d/l the cws zip and use twrps to flash it
Basically I was way over my head and shoulda kept the restore to stock option because that WAS working
Phone wont boot normal. volumeup and power and menu just flashes"recovery booting" or something really fast in the top left corner and shuts back off
Idk... Odin doesnt recognize the phone anymore
Definitely dont know what im doing anymore

Can you get into download mode or are you just plugging into the computer; Odin won't recognize your phone unless it is in download mode first. Also, I find Odin 3.07 to be a bit better than 1.85.

To be clear, you are holding Volume Down (not Volume Up, which is for Recovery Mode), Home Key, and Power Button all at the same time until the main Download screen appears?

You need a couple of things first. You will want to use Odin to push the latest version of Philz Touch, as it is a much better recovery than either CWM or TWRP. There is an option in Philz to restore TWRP backups, so as long as the backup you made earlier was of a proper working ROM (I would assume of your stock version), then you can use Philz to restore it. If you aren't comfortable switching recoveries right away, use Odin to push TWRP again. Basically, I want to make sure you have a working custom recovery in place before proceeding any further. Also, don't use a third-party to download/install ROM's, you need to be downloading from the official source. If you are wanting to run Cyanogen, go to their website and download directly from them.
Philz Touch XDA Thread by CNexus
http://www.cyanogenmod.org/
Once you have pushed the recovery onto your phone (make sure the Reboot option is unchecked in Odin, otherwise it will boot up too soon), pull your battery out for about ten seconds, replace, and then use the button sequence for Recovery Mode, make sure to hold the buttons past the vibration until the actual screen pops up.

If you received an MD5 error on the first install, you most likely have a bad download, so you probably won't be able to flash it with CWM either. I am assuming that when you made your backup, you used TWRP, in which case you cannot restore that with CWM, you will need either Philz Touch or TWRP. We need to get you booted back into a working system before proceeding, as you should have no OS installed currently if you wiped everything properly before attempting to flash Cyanogen.
I feel like Im going to have three different recoveries on the phone if I do that. I don't understand what im doing fundamentally. All I can do right now is follow instructions. And I'm scared now lol. How do I increase your thanks meter ahah Maybe I should do more research. Should what I was trying to do work in the first place?

Only one recovery can exist at a time, so whatever one you pushed or flashed most recently will be the current one. Which one did you have on the phone when you made your backup? That will be a good starting point.

So as I mentioned earlier, you will need to get either TWRP back as your recovery, in order to restore the backup you made with it, or you will want to switch to Philz, which is the best recovery option available anyway, and use Philz to restore your TWRP backup. I think for starters you will want to use TWRP just to get back up and running, and then switch to Philz soon so that you aren't too overwhelmed tonight.
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/d2spr
Choose the tar file for either version 2.6.3.0 or 2.6.3.1 and use Odin to push it onto your phone (2.6.3.1 is the newest version, but doesn't install properly on some devices; 2.6.3.0 should work for our purposes if 2.6.3.1 doesn't install properly for you). Then follow my instructions a couple of posts back about booting into recovery after using Odin.
Ill have to do this tomorrow. I pushed the tar through with odin and the phone is running at stock with supersu. Im not sure if my recovery is cwm or twrp now. But I have spent all day doing this. Ill continue tomorrow thnx again.

You should now have TWRP as your custom recovery. Feel free to PM me if needed tomorrow for any advice going forward.

Easiest way to install latest TWRP once rooted

Install latest TWRP once rooted, I have a separate thread about how to root your device.
1. Download latest twrp from here http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/d851
2. Download Flashify (for root users) from play store
3. Open flashify select recovery file you downloaded then flash it to your device. Done
(Boot into recovery menu when device is powered off)
1. Hold volume down and power button simultaneously
2. Soon as LG logo appears immediately let go of both volume down and home button
3. Repeat step one right after step 2
You will be asked to factory reset your device SELECT YES BOTH TIMES and you should boot right into recovery menu.
Done
Thanks for the guide bit it does not work.
I did as you have explained, flashed the twrp image but it does not go to recovery mode after pressing volume down plus power butto. It turns on normally..??
How do i know if the twrp is properly installed??

YES I MADE IT.. THANK YOU SO MUCH.:good:
PLEASE MENTION THIS IN YOUR GUIDE THAN ONE HAVE TO PRESS THE SAME BUTTONS AGAIN "IMMEDIETELY" AFTER SEEING LG LOGO.
This only works if you have the play store (and thus GAPPS) installed. I however do not.
You should modify the title to reflect that.

Great work on this TWRP. Works great on LP also after using a bumped boot.img and kk aboot also. Anyway to speed up backup's? Seems like over 10 minutes+ to backup to SD Card.

Ok, tried my first backup restore on TWRP from SD Card and it failed! Hmm. Anybody else have a successful restore? Just got my G3 so this is the first TWRP I've tried. Send you a PM OP.
---------- Post added at 12:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:29 PM ----------
Tried TEAMWin's TWRP and backup restore failed also. Must have been a bad backup. Gonna try backup again with TeamWin's and restore and see what happens.
this link from the stock rom thread points to a version 2.8.6.1 which is newer than everything in the OP link
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxgcaWaR5dRTZExOQnZGWV91U3M/edit?pli=1
is this the right one to use?
what are the steps to go back to no twerp and no root and back to oem phone?
on my g2 I would go to factory reset in the setting and it would only boot into recovery mode..
I just searched for TeamWin TWRP and D851. Got a link to here: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/249/ Seems twrp-2.8.7.0-d851.img is latest.
Update: I was trying to find a safe way to update TWRP and went back to the below site. The instructions now say to update with TWRP Manager. It worked flawlessly.
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/249/
Install TWRP Manager. Tap on Install TWRP. Select your device from the device list (d851) and then tap on Install Recovery. The file will download and be installed automatically.
