Q1: depends on where you got it from,if its one from here on xda it mostly get installed by installing it via the recovery
Q2: never used it on my mobile
Q3: download a file explorer and navigate to that .apk file and tap it. Follow instructions to install it. See the .apk the same as an .exe on the pc

Will need to change settings to allow apk install, will give you the option when you go to install.
I used a video convertor once I can't remember the name though :/ so long as the app actually makes use of the quad core should be rapid.

This option need to be ticked indeed ! Good one tree
It the unknown sources option
Its in dutch but you get the picture. It allows you to install any apk you want.

Seriously ?? 2.1 ??!!
First install official 2.3.3 (you can download it from htcdev.com) then use revolutionary .
edit : sorry didn't see the first pic !! yep , I think you're rooted . Is there an app named "Superuser" in your menu ?? if yes you're rooted .

No there is not a "superuser" app
Where can I download the official 2.3.3? I can't find it
You are S-OFF but doesn't have the Superuser app yet most definitely.
To get root, you have to flash superuser zip found on Revolutionary FAQ page. Read it and it's there. Third FAQ item if my memory serves me correct.
Alternatively you can just flash a custom rom and it will have superuser out of the box.
EDIT: Here read common problems and questions. It's item number 4

Save that zip file on your SD card.
Choose Recovery on the hboot menu.
Depending on what recovery you have, look for something that says flash/install from sd card
select the file and let it do it's work
reboot

Looks like you haven't flashed a custom recovery yet...
Since you're using a desire with german language, I suspect that you speak german ;-)
Before you play around with your device, I think it's better to read and understand what you're doing. Therefore, brutzelstube.de is a great german website specially about rooting and modding the desire. Maybe you should just read the tutorials there and see what your device is capable of. If you need to ask what to do next for every step, you probably won't have much fun with your rooted desire. Especially if you want to flash a custom rom.
As it is a used device, what about the one who owned the device before? Can't you ask him what exactly he did?
You could also just install and run an app that requires root (like Titanium Backup or Rom Manager) and see what happens...

Seriously? Rom manager..... Fail
Like stankyou says, you need to flash a custom recovery and you'll need to flash superuser before you try to install any app that requires root access

Well, first of all there was the question if root-access works or not. Looks like the answer was no, but just trying it out does no harm. And since Rom Manager requires root, it should be ok for testing, just like any other root app. I didn't say he would need it.
Or he could just look in app drawer for the superuser app

Sure, but since I saw more than one case where some apps didn't show in app drawer, I don't trust the app drawer anymore ;-)

[Q] HTC Wildfire S got boot looped !! I need some help

Hi everybody,
Good Morning. I Installed Tamil Unicode Font app on my rooted HTC wildfire S. That caused something wrong with the device. Now the phone shows the brand name with sound again and again (15-20 seconds Interval) when switched ON. The problem is I didn't have back up, since i rooted (@ htcdev.in) few days back only. I have installed CWM 5.0.2.6, Superuser, ROM tool box, busybox. Using Android 2.3.5, ROM ver is 2.13.720.1, HBOOT-1.08.0099.
What caused my device to boot again.?
CAN ANYONE HELP/SUGGEST METHODS OR LINKS ON HOW TO GET BACK MY DEVICE ...?
or
How to remove the FONT APP (that caused the to REBOOT) from the device...?

I don't think that one will work. You have to use one that has a higher number than yours. And don't forget to make a goldcard.

My HTC Wildfire S has got stuck in boot-loops a few times, when a flash has gone wrong, for whatever reason. The only way I got mine back on track was to use Rezo's All-in-one tool to flash CWM Recovery, and go from there.
Link to Rezo's wonderful tool, which, by the way, is the only one that actually managed to root my Wildfire S in the first place... all the rest failed.

There is a file called runme.bat. Run it.
Menu after that is self-explanatory... you probably want option 10, "Install CWM Recovery". Do it, and follow the on-screen instructions.
Let it do its thing, and then hey presto, you have ClockworkMod Recovery installed. Your phone should automatically boot into it, so make sure you have the ROM you want to flash ready in ZIP format on your MicroSD card. Use the Volume Up/Volume Down softkeys to navigate the menus... you need to select "Install a ZIP from SD-Card", and then select to browse the SD card to find the zip... you use the search softkey to select items, rather than the power button. Browse to the ROM ZIP, and select it, let it flash it to your phone, and you have your ROM.
I Got back my Device !!! Thanks to all...
OMG !!!
I Got Back my HTC WildFire S, after 8 days of hopeless and restless !!.
But I never lost the confidence and keep trying (on the right track).
The method which helped me to clear the problem is here :
[TUTORIAL][NOOBPROOF] Return to Stock Rom after flashing CustomRom
go to :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21891784&postcount=1
and followed the instruction simply.
and it worked !
Now my HTC Wildfire S is working perfectly.
(Damn i will never install that Font App again)
Anyway thanks to all who supported me......
Note : If anybody wants to know more step by step details, I can certainly help. (post it here)

Extract it from the RUU
1) Run RUU
2) If you're running windows 7, type %TEMP% on the windows explorer
3) Look for a very long name of a folder (Don't remember) and look for rom.zip
4) Open the archive using 7zip (Best one, other than that might have problems)
5) look for signed_boot.img
6) Extract it and flash it as usual
Hope it helps ^^

hi guys,
do I understand correctly; all I need is that tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706070
but still 2 questions:
1. how to tell once for all, do I have GSM or CDMA phone? That "sim card" part means, do I work (flash, root etc) with card still inside?
2. what about stock kernel? Do I still need to look for one, or everything is inside that ROM package?
Thanks in advance!

[Method]WhatsApp installation on Nokia XL Successfully

My friend has Nokia XL device and he successfully installed the Whatsapp app in his device. i thought it may help some other people who is struggling to use Whatsapp in their devices.
Here are the steps he followed to install the Whatsapp:
1. First change the date to may or april i.e., change your date to before june (i suppose, it is because the update of whatsapp came on 9th june)
2. Download the old version of WhatsApp (i.e.,2.11.238) - use only nokia browser, don't use Play Store or Mobile Market...
3. Install it and Run it
4. Complete verification and complete the procedure, update the contacts
5. Chat with one or more contacts... so that you may have backup info about Whatsapp to get a Widget.
6. Now change the date to Present date and reboot(restart) the phone.
7. After rebooting the phone to present date, it says whatsapp is an obsolete version and suggest you to install latest version. click download (download using the nokia browser, NO Play store or NO mobile markets)
8. Now download the file and install manually, it will ask you to upgrade the version and click install. (don't uninstall previous whatsapp),
9. Now you have the Whatsapp with latest version and with present date...
But access the app from Fastlane or using Widget. if you open using the icon then it shows error.
Uninstall the Whatsapp+ if you already have.
Have Fun Whatsapp-ing...
If you have any doubts Please Comment...
If I helped you the HIT THANKS.
Thank you

Its dangerous to modify build.prop unless you have knowledge what you are doing... Instead of doing this you can flash a custom rom. Either ways you must root and BACKUP.

Guys Please tell me about bug free Custom ROM only for NOKIA XL

From past few days i m thinking of installing google store and google now on my Nokia XL Phone. I read lot of threads and watch many videos. But still unable to make decision. So far i have downloaded 3 tool kits 1) NokiaXMgr_v1.0.0.0 2) Ultimate tool v1.1 3) Universal Toolkit Setup. Which one i should choose? Now i have stock Rom. Please also tell me, is it safe to install custom ROM. If Yes, then which one is the best? Most of threads are for NOKIA X. That is why i am bit confused. Eagerly waiting for your response. Thanks in advance.
