I think this bodes very very very well for us. Samsung is setting a brilliant tone to this scene already. I'm thrilled.

Bingo.
While HTC is busy not just dropping the ball but spending most of their time kicking it behind them Samsung is running with it...this release actually went better than the mess it appeared to be last night. It seems there was a perfect amount of the phones around for us, perhaps specifically...seriously. They knew the enthusiast community is the first to scoop these up which is why they probably didn't even waste the money on advertising. Get them into the enthusiast and developers hands first. Drop that kernel source ASAP. Let a buzz build up as they start advertising yet barely anyone can find one, then in a month when all 3rd party retailers have them and start advertising and there will be tons in stock and a bunch of active (and progressing) development projects--which are encouraged.
...and I'm sure Steve Kondik plays into this somewhere, I bet there is one more surprise up their sleeves.
EDIT:...and I bet they're watching. Thanks Samsung, keep this up. I'm going to show this phone and what it can do to every single person I come across--probably even unintentionally given that gigantic gorgeous eye-drawing screen.

This sounds likely. Submitted this little tidbit of info for possible XDA frontpage to help drum up dev support and buzz generation.
Ok my dear fellow users, here´s the thing, since the guys from Game Gripper aren't interest in adapting their product to our devices, I figured out it's time for a different approach, this, is the GameKlip:
This is what I've send to the guy who made this little piece of magic:
Hi, my name is Santiago Console, I’m a Captivate Glide user and an active participant of the XDA Forum dedicated to the development for this phone. A few month’s back, we gathered a bunch of request, from people who were trying to make this guys:
http://www.game-gripper.com/
Adapt their product to our phone, for some reason, they didn’t bother, even after we gather more people than the D3 Community, and that guys ended up getting it. That aside, will you be interested in adapting the GameKlip to our phone ? I can assure you, that, at least, you will sell 30 units, right after you set up the pre-order J
To know the dimensions and the shape of our phone, you can look into this page:
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i927_captivate_glide-4071.php
Thanks, and I hope you can make this happen
END OF THE E-MAIL
He answered that if get's enough requests, he will make a GameKlip for the Glide and, come on, there's a lot of pros about this thing:
1) If you already have a PS3 Controller, you don't have to spend a lot of cash to play like a real Gamer on your device.
2) You can take advantage of the Glide's OTG functionality.
3) It's only a "Clip", so it's not like it's going to broke, get lost, or anything XD
So, the idea it's the same as with the GameGripper request before, so, please, If you have some time, and want to have this "Clip" available for the Glide, take a few minutes, and write an E-Mail to the creator, and tell hin that, If he makes it, you will buy it. His E-Mail is [email protected]
You can learn more about the GameKlip here:
http://thegameklip.com/
Thanks for letting me know about this, filled out a request.
What happens if you try to purchase the "Phone Only" on the Rogers web site?
http://goo.gl/Kgbkq
After putting in your credit card #, can you have it sent to Argentina?
I filled out a form as well. It would be great to have this accessory for the phone.

I was thinking about this, maybe I can even make Rogers send it to my courrier on the US, it's there any custom taxes for sending something from Canada to US ? Because if it is, then, I would just make my courrier pick it up directly from Rogers, it would be a little more expensive, but, safest as well.
And, about the thread, keep going, Game Gripper for the Glide it's possible, we just have to make sure that people over GG know that there's a lot of customers willing to pay for this device.
I like the iControlPad personally, it has 2 analog sticks that are great to use, but will request this for you guys anyways!

Thanks About the iControlPad, yeah, it's kinda better, but also it's 10 times more expensive, also, what's the point having a device with a physical keyboard if we use a BT Joystick ?

Doesn't matter Thanks for the support, and, let me add, the ICP it's a great device, but it's more convenient for devices without an actual Keyboard
Just emailed them for a Request as well. I should be getting my Glide next week.

Bump !!!!!
Done! How many submissions are they supposed to get before they consider doing it?
Maybe it's time to face the reality, we are not going to get the Game Gripper for the Glide, also, with MOGA around the corner, I would discourage anyone who's considering to buy the iControlPad, because, no mather how expensive the MOGA could be, It can't be very far from the iControlPad's price, also, it has better materials, and support from the big fishes like EA and Gameloft.
Farewell Game Gripper, you had your chance, and you lost it.
I've edited the OP, please check it out:

Yeah, I was also thinking about that, but aparently Moga it's having some trouble with the compatibily, and now the guys are telling us that in order to work with the Moga every f*cking game we used to play has to be re-writed, sorry, but for me, that's a deal breaker, I want the biggest compatibility list posible.
Hello,
I think XDA is the biggest Smartphone Community in the whole world,so why we don't make
a XDA Phone?
Designed and developed by XDA
We can make our "dream phone",our Rom,our parts!
I don't have so much ideas for the design, maybe someone has one^^.
Some parts
Rockchip
I know what sounds a bit crazy, but I think we have enough really good Developers and Engineers.
No offence , but your username makes me suspect the credibility of this thread .
Herpderp Backflip.
I actually had a quite wild thought about such thing too. I hope this will workout
Sadly I dont think we have the man power to get an actual phone going. We would be better off just asking an OEM to design a phone with such and such specs and design software around it.
Phone + XDA Sticker = Profit??
Sticker+Phone,not the best^^
Then the Chinese can make phones,we can do it,too!
Maybe we can contact a chinese Factory and ask them,so we produce cheap.
And maybe we don't have enough man power, but if we all work together as one person we will make it happen!
Design=easy
Parts=difficult
I think we have to make the design first, when we know which parts we can put in.
Big Phone=good parts
Small Phone= tiny=worse parts!
I'm not really good with product design (don't wonder I only make lines xD),but I think we can make it just like the Xiaomi M1 or Meizu MX 4
and we also have to see what the produce fair!
No child work, save working, getting enough paid (for me one of the most important things)!
this will never happen.

Such a long shot.
really? how much % of the world smartphone users population care or even know about XDA forum?
In Germany 80-90%,but we can make adds on some websites, just like Huawei do it in XDA
And I contacted Rockchip:
They want for the RK2918 150€=193$ per 10.000 mobile phones.
And I know what is a crazy plan, but think how it would be if we have our one phone:
Always updates, rooted and all that stuff,no one has to tell us the rules, beacuse we make them!
P.S.:I'm really happy that high ranked members are interseted for this!
Thanks!
I'd really love this idea. Have had it in my mind for quite a while.
If it would happen (God bless that) I would really love it to have a big NAND and the possibility to have multiple OSes installed in NAND Like WP7, Android and WinMo haha Just thoughts thou, but a better version of the HD2 is like the mother of all mobile hardware as long as it keeps the possibilities
Yes we can!
You know what .... this is such a freaking sick idea!!
You know what else? any one who says it cant be done should dif!!
Can I do this? No. I suck. Also time factor being a slave etc.
BUT you are going to tell me as a community we cant come together and make this happen? THIS.... THIS I would donate for.
IF A SINGLE LOWLY NOBODY can bild a freaking ipad....
WE CAN build an xda phone! WOW ! imagine what a revolution!
INstant gratifacation? doubtfull! But... imagine....building a phone that outperforms, outsells and out does everyphone....
A phone based on a community not on some GREEDY corporation.
YES it may cost A LOT. maybe even like 800$. or more.
BUT you could garuantee it not being obsolete for at least 5 years?
10,12 16 mp camera? quad core? How bout a phone based on pc design meaning, the phone is a shell, mother board, chips, internal memory can all be updated? even screen can be swapped for an updated version?
OMG the possibilities are endles!
MacGyver hardware phone!!! hells yeah!
Imagine... the demise of the iphony by the sword of xda!
I say bs to anyone who says this cant be done?
You cant telll me there are no members here who dont have lucrative funds to back this development
Jeez reverse engineer all the best phones and make it a super phone!
SEE? See? See, god, I told you should let me win the lottery! Now how am I gonna fund this superfantubulastical idea!! Well guesse i gotta sell my soul now....HEY! Satan! can I talk to you for a sec....
This will not and should not ever happen.
Not feasible.
Not needed.
XDA is a development forum not a brand.

1) Create a company to recycle used phones in a "green" way, for a fee.
2) Use the money to buy XDA stickers to put on phone, pocket the rest.
3) ???????
4) Profit
forget the phone, I just want a t-shirt...
I think that would be realy cool. It would be realy nice if we could get an Android phone that comes with root and an open bootloader right out of the factory. I actualy think there would be a market for that.
Would probably be hard, but it would be possible. You cant make it on your own but you could surly find a company in china that woul make the hardware. And xda could make the software.
I think the problem is that we would need quiet some money to get started.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
i would only buy it if it had a serious SoC, like exynos or tegra 3, i wouldn't use snapdragon because the adreno GPU is a joke and the rocketchip looks cheap but i woud be in favor of a large NAND from multiple OS's but WinMo and WP7 wouldn't work as it's illegal to put them on anything that dosen't come with it but we could possibly put meego or the teizen, bada love child as long as it's open-sourced
Quite a brilliant idea actually, like those limited edition phones with maximized specs. Perhaps to use as a development phone perhaps? )
I'm doubting there'll be someone who wants to lead this project..
Hoping for it tho
EDITED for UPDATE:
BETA CLOSED - Thanks to everyone for your interest and comments!
The Badasscase for the HTC ONE has been Released - Picture below!
End of EDIT
Hello XDA Members!
I am looking for a couple people to beta test a PROTOTYPE version of my cases for the HTC ONE.
Interested in people who can provide detailed feedback, enjoy experimenting, and hopefully have some knowledge of building/fabrication/hard core tinkering, etc. - Also, "vision" is a major plus... what I mean is if you are the type of person who sees and old, rusty, beat up classic car... and you immediately visualize the "Showcar" in your mind.
This is limited to the USA for shipping costs (which I will cover) and you absolutely MUST own the HTC ONE.
Social media nuts, bloggers, reviewers, would also be a plus.
I will be posting some pictures of the prototypes on Monday or Tuesday, and am also looking for feedback here on the different designs I have going so far.
If interested, shoot me a PM and please let me know a little bit about yourself! I will probably not reply back until Sunday/Monday, but I will reply to everyone who inquires.
Thanks

Might be interested too. Love to see what you have in mind
I'm buying my HTC One tomorrow and I'd be totally down to testing this out.
I'm interested.
I'd wanna test it out, but I'm in Aus. What if I was willing to pay postage ?
Edit: And of course, I do have a HTC One too.
I would like to beta test! I currently have my HTC One
In Florida, ordered my Stealth Black today, definitely interested.
Update : Picked up my Glacier Silver today.
HTC One Beta Tester Application
I would like to participate!
I'm in Florida and I have my HTC One in hand and would love to help you out!!
I have my silver One in hand. I'm in PA. I've also had several aluminum cases for my various other phones, so I might be able to offer you some insight in that regard.
Definitely interested, in California, with a silver One.
Also, if it helps I have a 1983 supra restored + modded (showcar, haha)
Man this is right up my alley as a conceptual design engineer.....shame I'm in the UK.....let me know if you want any drawings thrown together......

Thanks for the overwhelming response!
Hello all,
Thanks for the huge response! I have a ton of PM's to go through and will be doing so throughout the day. I will make some decisions within the next 24-48 hours.
As far as shipping outside the US, there are a few reasons for this. Mainly the time delay involved getting it shipped/received.
From the responses, it seems some of you have not seen any of the cases I have done. I was thinking most would see my signature, but alas that doesn't show up when viewing from a phone (as far as I know). So below is a link to my facebook page (also in my sig) to give you an idea of what the case is going to be like.
In late March I prototyped the HTC ONE from pictures for this first run and have a company that laser cuts these for me. And I have 5 variations of "backs" and 2 "fronts" that I will have tomorrow. It takes a couple weeks to get parts from my vendor, so I have to be quick with my designs!
Since having my ONE, I have made some adjustments to the design, and will be double checking everything tomorrow with the first set of prototype parts. I will be sending off "version 2" later this week for a small production run in order to have product ready and available as quickly as possible for an upcoming trade show.
What I am looking for in testers, is mainly someone who can and will do some of the following.
Testing signals - Network/Wifi/Bluetooth/GPS/NFC etc.
An example, GPS - Let your significant other drive, while you have your ONE in the case and another similar android phone (no case) set to the same destination. During this trip, take notes of both phones if/when they lose GPS lock, how long it takes to reestablish GPS lock. Any differences between the two devices should be noted.
Also, as a control, run the same route, with both phones without a case taking the same notes to compare. With case/without case.
My main concern it signals. I do not want the case to degrade the ability of the phone in any way!
In my current production case for the HTC EVO 4G LTE (Full Back), the only issue is NFC, which is non-functional because of the aluminum back. For this reason I created an "open back" version to have a fully functional device. I prefer to have just one version for the ONE.
I will of course be running a multitude of tests myself, but am looking to compare my experience with a few other users to ensure a perfect product!
Also, I know some of you will be able to provide ideas/feedback that I might not think of. I do not plan to change much in my physical designs, but might do so according the feedback I receive.
Again, thanks for all of the PM's and I will be getting back to everyone within the next day... in the meantime, check the facebook page to see a few of the EVO LTE cases!

Hello fellow developers,
I am turning to your expertise because as a member of XDA, I trust and value your opinion. I have a situation and would appreciate your input. I am working on an App idea. I've figured out most of the details and planned a road map. I have a 7 page mockup ready to build only a demo app (no backend, only visuals for potential investors to help me fund the full build).
I am wondering what I should expect in terms of costs to design and build an interactive demo? I would appreciate any range of costs you may find reasonable.
Thank you in advance for your input, I appreciate it.

I'm new here too, but been doing Android development for a few years... In my own experience I've built mockups/apps myself, so to me it was always "free"... my spare time... but if you want real answers, and related to your app, you'll have to provide a heck of a lot more detail!

I agree, even if you will not have working logic in it, you still need to design it ( 7 Activities) and sometimes design is much harder to do than logic behind it
