Hello All... I am facing issue in updating to new firmware DMC3... my fone is showing me that update is available and when i download the package(of around 35 MB)... it asks me if i want to install now....the phone reboots into downloading mode and at 25%...the installation fails and fone is booted normally and i get the message that can't update...please try KIES or contact service centre...
I tried KIES...it took 2 Hours to download the update(i have 2Mbps broadband connection :victory then the fone again went into downloading mode but the update never started and it got stuck.. i manually booted the fone again... and no other intimation
My fone was rooted without any custom rom... i unrooted it.. i can see the status as NORMAL thats y i get OTA update itimation... so i dont think root is an issue...
This update is really pissing me off... please anyone has any suggestion..you are most welcome..
Why don't you just download newest ROM from samMobile and flash it with Odin? I do this and it works beautifully. Yo have to root afterwards, but that is a 3 minute operation.
thanks man appreciate ur help...this worked

hi all,
i bought this phone few days back T989 ... it was running stock GB 2.3.6 ... a week ago i rooted it uninstalled all bloatwares ... the phone was running very well and was smooth ...
today i decided to install a custom ROM ... i first installed ROM manager and was planning for a nandroid backup ... first it prompted me to installed the latest CWM recovery i accepted it .. and CWM recovery was installed ...
then i tap on back up my current rom ... first it gave me a FC error that ROM manager suddenly stopped responding .. i ignored that, started ROM manager again and again tap on back up my current ROM ... after that my phone went BLANK ..
i removed the battery, put it back and tried to turn it on but no response ?
when i press the power button my phone vibrates shows the samsung logo and thats it .. nothing is happening and nothing is coming after that ...
it is not even going in the Recovery mode ...
i attached the data cable and started ODIN .. luckily it successfully showed the DOWNLOAD mode window ...
i downloaded a Stock ROM to flash it and start from beginning ...
T989UVLH1_T989TMBLH1_TMB this is what i downloaded .. i put the .tar file on pda and clicked start ... it took about 6 to 8 mins to install the system .. then i came on installing MODEM and gave me an error that ODIN cannot continue ... ODIN was forced closed with the error .. i tried it 2 , 3 times but same result ...
now i am stuck .. my phone is not getting flashed from ODIN as well .. still it is being detected on PC on downloading mode ..
and on my phone's screen at download mode it is showing firmware update encountered an error .. select recovery option from KIES ..
any solution ?
i did not had External Sd card installed on my phone when i tap on back up my current rom on ROM manager ...
does this caused and started all the problems ?
Hopefully it's not a hard brick... It doesn't sound like it is.

Well here is the problem .
I was in the university when I noticed the latest update is available for n7100! so I started to download it with my 3g connection downloaded about 10 mb and I noticed that I dont have enough airtime credit left to download it so I canceled the download. When I got home I tried to download it with wifi connection and it says it's the latest update what do I do I want the update sooo bad
Can any one who installed the update give some info about the os version and new features ?
Is there a flashable file of the new rom?
" Don't tell me that was a false update message and there is no such thing for now my heart can't handle that "

Well the problem solved looks like server side problems. I downloaded the update but I get failed message at 25% I'm on stock recovery and device status is normal! what's going on?

can't do that 3000 mb of download my budget can't handle that ! can't i just find latest upgrade files and flash them through recovery or odin ?
There used to be the OTA files update only available on sammobile, however I don't know if they're available anymore or not.
Secondly, it's not possible to say what has been upgraded until we don't know on what version you were/are atm, and what will be the updated version.
And lastly, when you are doing things like this, you need to have an unlimited plan or something.

Take backup of important data and factory reset, it may solve issue. But you have to download update again and rarely I have experienced still fails to update. In such cases kies/odin only can solve.

I'm having the same issue. Phone declares it is modified when it reboots, so it is related to being rooted. Been investigating to no avail.
Have fiddles with triangle away settings and SuperSU's survival mode.
Finally got there. Unfroze all frozen apps with Titanium backup, uninstalled busybox, xposed framework etc - i.e. used option in app to remove from rom. Not sure which of these got it working.
Killed off my root, but CF autoroot again and all is good. New rom seems more responsive initially, will have to see about battery life etc in the long term.
Update: The wifi would not work after update. Flashed afresh using kies, and all sorted.

i only got Awesome Beats and
fully functional (all apps) multi window (the APK version)!! actually may be this one is causing the problem ??? after the factory reset the app is gone but i still got the full MW and i've got no idea how to get back to the stock one ?!! maybe i need a fresh rom !!
OK guys here is my problem. I've rooted my GT-i9082 and I wanted to download the 4.2.2 update from the phone itself. So for resetting the bin counter I used the triangle away app. And when I try to update it shows the box saying "checking for updates " for hours and the downloading doesn't start. Am I gonna have to do a full unroot for updating the stock software? (I don't wanna use ODIN)
You have to unroot for get official update.

well go through this and you are good to go further http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696
in short what u need
samsung drivers and no kies install on pc(drivers available in the link
a custom recovery philz or twrp .tar file and use odin 3.07 to flash the recovery getting your phn in download mode if flashing recovery does not get you custom then
repeat above steps and untick "autoreboot" in odin. Once flash is done, keep pressing power button until it reboots (normally will go to recovery)
when in recovery, if you choose option "reboot system now" and you get "yes - disable flash recovery", select that option to avoid stock recovery overwriting cwm
once u get custom recovery backup your complete rom to external sd and imp of all backup efs here are some method mentioned http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389426 keep it safe on pc
now all ready to rock and roll with custom rom my preference would be phoenix v15 or dn3 which is about to be uploaded in few hours and enjoy the latest note3 features.
and as far as a year goes with your phn i rarely care about breaking my phone the imp of all is to follow guide and no issue almost more than 3 years in xda and all good.
if any help needed shoot me a p.m and yes before doing anything just enable usb debugging on phn
My note 2 is on 4.1.2 (non-rooted) and I am India and I have got 4.3 OTA update. I downloaded and while flashing, at 35%, it got stopped and booted up to 4.1.2
So, i downloaded the ota again, and flashed. It got stopped at 24%.
So, I decided to update via kies. I started downloading the FW, but the download is stuck at 0% and yes, I have a pretty good internet connection!
what to do? If I go the ODIN way, will it delete my internal memory too????? This is the only thing stopping me from flashing 4.3 via ODIN. Also, i will have to Factory reset after flashing via ODIN which i dont want too :/
Any other solution or ODIN to the rescue?

Search here on xda as 'pre rooted 4.3 firmware for n7100' something like that, you'll find some thread. Download one from there and flash via odin. There is also no wipe version I think, which will not erase your internal memory.

Is there any non rooted firmware?
Because my dad uses that phone and he doesn't want any root or things like that. So that is why I don't know about firmwares and things about this forum.
I was doing some search and came up with this..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2536423
is this okay to update? will this wipe my phone?
In most possibilities YES.
Infact it is recommended that you take backup of your important data and let internal memory get wiped. It will save you some future headaches.
