[Q] VZ rom's problems - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I been running 4.2.1 roms for awhile with no problems I wanted to try a 4.2.2 rom It flash ok, but I notice problems right away the home button didn't work the quick settings wasn't working none of the settings wouldn't change with out a restart.I thought it was the rom, So I cleared the data and flashed other roms and it was doing the same thing. I restore to stock, then I flashed a rom a again with the same problems! Anyone have an idea what it might be?

You said you cleared data? Is that all? Did you clear cache and dalvik cache? If not, you should.

yup did that may times

what roms did you try?

Did you use the right gapps for 4.2.2?

JBSourcery,Vanir,XenonHD

Yeah gapps-jb-20130301

If you wiped everything, flashed the ROM and flashed the right gapps, this shouldnt be happening. So I dont know. When you went back to stock, was it stock 4.2.2? If so, you had no issues that you are mentioning when you were on that? Home button, quick settings were all fine?

OP,
are you restoring data from anything like TiBu?

Ok, so ROM is ok, gapps are ok, flashing process is ok. What recovery are you using?

I even flashed other Kernels with no luck

I dont know what to say man. Your phone doesnt like 4.2.2 ROMs. The only thought I have is TWRP is causing something to mess up. I dont use TWRP. I never liked it. I've always used Clockwork Mod Recovery.

[G] Guide to get Cricket MMS Working

Ok heres what I do to get MMS working on my Wifes Incredible
$45 plan!!
Make sure to make a backup before trying this just in case you cant get it to work you will have a fall back.
Download CricketV10 Edify and place it on the root of your SDCARD.
Download APN Backup & Restore from the market and backup your current APN's before you flash.
Flash any ROM you want and before leaving CWM flash the CricketV10 you downloaded earlier.
Once booted up into the new ROM download Autostart root from the Market (Wifi)
Download APN Backup & Restore from the Market (Wifi)
Download APN Manager (Wifi)
Now open up Apn Backup & Restore and delete current APN's and then click Restore Apn's and choose the ones you backed up earlier.
Reboot your phone and grant Autostart root superuser permission.
Open up APN Manger and click APN list and then choose CDMA-MMS.
If you dont have good apn's download the attached and replace the X's with your 10-digit number. (Rename from 45Plan.xml.txt to 45Plan.xml)
Now you should have working WEB and MMS.
I got it working on the Gingerbread leak and Skyraider 4.2! I tried MIUI but I couldn't get MMS to work with that one, got everything else though.
This will help me out a lot! Thanks so much!

I have tried a few ROM's in the past and a few recently, but I like the stock ROM's the best. They are always the most stable and everything works just fine usually.
There have been some ROM's here and there that I really liked but I always found a fatal flaw that I just couldn't deal with. I'm really looking forward to that official Gingerbread to get here!

Note for future: use the backup feature in recover before flashing things you aren't sure of.
The backup in recovery is referred to as a nandroid if you didn't know already, it will always bring you back to exactly how your phone previously was. This way you won't have to ever ODIN to stock.

Lock up and restart alot?

anyone else having this prob. sometimes i will use a app and the screen will go black and unresponsive i can still turn the screen on and off wit the power button but it eventually restarts however it does the startup animations but does not make the sounds. any fix?
some history:
tooks some time but decided to root, once rooted the factory os would not boot. so i did the restore to factory flash with counter reset uploaded by a fellow member of xda and then did the flash to root.
now i have this prob.
What Rom did you flash to? Stock or something else? Also, Root method? Odin CVM, Flash root zip? just trying to see if there's anything that sounds odd or off other then the issue you described. I rooted with CVM Flash (odin) and zip root method.. Flashed The People's rom, No resets here.

I have seen this a few times recently. I did not have that happen when I read on ICS. It only happened after I updated to lj7.
It is interesting to note that the phone appears to restart and recover but when I look at the uptime for android I see that it was not a full reboot.

Flashing correct kernel for the rom? (can't use ICS kernel for JB Rom) it'll cause that issue. Which roms giving you issues? Ensure your not flashing an I9300 Rom on the SPH-L710 either, otherwise you will completely brick it.
Are you wiping everything first?
Start with this stock based Rom and kernel...

Yes you can, but be sure to only flash the Snapdragon variant's roms. NOT the 8 core one. Also, in my experience, wifi doesn't work if the rom includes a radio or kernel. The CSC has to match up and as of now, we dont have just the CSC for the tmobile one.

I have and it broke my wifi. Thats why I said in my experience
I would PM the dev of the rom you want to flash and ask them if it includes radios and a kernel. If it includes either of them, do NOT flash it. Otherwise you have to ODIN back to stock and go through all that boring stuff.
