A friend and I successfully ported this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163816
Everything works except receiving SMS. We really can't figure out what the problem is. We tried searching it up as much as possible but found nothing so far. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try simple stuff like swapping out the mms.apk for a one from our device? Got a link to the ported ROM? Maybe I can help, but without seeing it all I can do is ask you a bunch of questions. What was your process for porting? Did you use the lib runtime.so from our device or the device you were porting from?

I have swapped the mms.apks and it's a no-go
Here's the link to the ported ROM. http://db.tt/varJoN5H
I used this method of porting.
I am using the lib runtime.so for our device I believe.
Here's a logcat: http://pastebin.com/VifcSe9H
I'm not so good on reading logcats, but I see some lines that don't look right to me.

He is very helpful, so he is probably just busy or something. I don't think that he has been on his thread in a while either.
Did you every figure this out?
I'm trying to get MMS working on Gingerbread too. On a Droid 1. Started with Pete's (Bugless Beast) GB ROM This is an AOSP build so it should be "Stock" MMS can receive but not send
Figured it out and posted a fix here-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002910

Hmmm...
Wonder if we could take that ROM, change the updater-script to match our mounting points....then we just need a kernel....
Which we have one kernel already made. Not sure if it would work though.
If anyone would help set up a build environment that would work for our kernels and roms then I will gladly help and start learning.

I think we'd need a stock CM9 based kernel though. If I understand correctly.

Well, it shouldn't take too long. It may be possible to build a CM9 Kernel for our phones using parts of the stock kernel that we have access to.
Once the JB source is released, an S3 port might actually be viable. Otherwise it's essentially just flashing a gnex image and praying something/anything works.

a CM9 kernel shouldn't be needed, just a modded kernel for our specific phone from what i believe.
We know this, but it's more of an experiment. Also, it helps work out anything we may need to do early on with the modules and drivers

Why not take this ROM, change the updater-script for our mount points, remove the flashing of the boot.img, flash ROM then flash the kernel Roman release?
Think that would work?

It could, in theory. But we would need to work on the modules for anything to work. Could you post our mount points?
why does it have to be a cm9 kernel?
to be completely honest, as soon as we get a cm9 alpha, we will see some worth while stuff! but until then. TouchWiz it iz. We will have team kang's AOKP in no time im sure. i cant wait to see wuts to come. especially since this phone is at all the major carriers and they are all basically exactly the same! should be epic.

yea i think once one of the other major carriers (or ares) get cm9 then we will see some awesome stuff for everyones phone!
I think that the only thing that makes them different is the radios in the phone

Can someone explain in fair ease how to port MIUI v5 or V6 onto a AOSP Based ROM, like ShinyROM/CM11/OmniROM? Preferably in a GITHub format so Updates to MIUI and these bases update the whole package? Been fiddling with porting it and had no success and the official MIUI porting team instructions seem to not apply/im not grasping it as much as I should
Thanks in advance!
Bump?
Would be great to have a port of Miui 4.4, but seems that a people are not interested. A my friend tried to port but without success. I think that this is possible, but need help.
please port it if someone ever helps you. would be much appreciated!

I tried that first to be honest, but not from the guide directly, just guessing what might work, i know MIUI has init.d things that seperate it from AOSP
PS: Are you the same guy i saw over on MIUI forum?? (I'm XeoShion there)

Well that's worrying, Galaxy Nexus's Community definitely seems to be shrinking fast
Thank you for your time.
First of all I have been rooting and unlocking many android devices and variants for years now. I have had some amazing success at it as I am pretty good at reading and following directions. I have decompiled and made some small mods to different roms, edited build.prop files. I am well versed in adb and fastboot commands as well as using odin and heimdall. i know how to record and read logcats.
That said I have a bootloader unlocked dev edition vzw s5, and would like to try my hand at fully porting a rom. Specifically from a GSM s5 to Verizon CDMA. Once I get it functional on MY device i would then like to mod it to be safestrap flashable for those that dont have dev edition verizon s5's. I should also mention i have the dev's blessing to do this and if i share it i will make sure first and foremost to give the original dev credit.
The problem is all the guides i find, even on here, seem to be outdated and dont quite work all the way. So if someone could point me to a good CURRENT (android 5.0 and up) guide for this or maybe guide me a little through the process, I would be eternally gratefull and would include whoever helps (and there donation links) in the credits if i share the finished rom.
Again thank you in advance for your time and consideration, if it weren't for the community here at xda the entire android world would be a much more different and boring place.
I am looking to bring the maverick s6 v4.5 to the Verizon s5. It is already available for every other variant

Hi there, i was wondering, a re e you gonna release that rom if you got it working? And could you share your process on converting the radio stuff? Ive been looking into doing the same with my sprint galaxy s5 (uses same technology to connect to the cell towers) but have been in the same situation as you. Thanks.

Yes to everything ecxpet for the building apks part lol. Yeah feel free to write out a how to guide on doing it, because there are probably people out there who would love that, including me! And i think there might also be someone who will create a script thatll do it automatically, Depending on what the process is.
Huawei has finally uploaded the opens source code for all of our devices (the 3 hardware versions).
I have reuploaded it to Google Drive for easier download.
Grab them here : https://goo.gl/DiAj78
Wooooowwww, if that's the sources all is getting great now. Xelfmade, make or phone great again ?
So anybody have the original download link?
Great news! I Assume custom roms etc will become available now once people have built them?
You can get the original downlaods from here : http://consumer.huawei.com/en/opens...Type=openSourceSoftware&pageSize=10&curPage=1
Just search Nova. The download speed was a tad slow.
Huh, i was asking them several times over the past days about the sources. Pleasent coincidence.
Thanks for posting this. Let the fun part begin

Oh wow Nice! My variant is the CAN-L01 one.
Probably it will work for any variant, even chinese ones.
But my problem is not the rom itself, is the kernel. I'm wanting to learn to mod and compile kernel just for this, as Nova kernel is awful to tweak.

I know that it will probably work for all variants it's just cool to see my one used as a base for a custom rom.
Do you guys have any guides how to apply these stock roms to unrooted phone? i want to get rid of the carrier crap that's why thinking to apply the stock rom. Thanks.
