Hey guys, I was just wondering if it was possible to add (or install) TouchWiz 4.0 on AOKP Jelly Bean?
If so, what would be the process? I really miss TouchWiz but LOVE Jelly Bean.

Might be possible of someone were to dedicate their life to it, but no one cares about it enough to attempt.
You are just going to have to wait for either ports of the international jelly bean release or official or leaked versions of i747 jellybean.

If it is just the look you want there are themes in aokp that look like touch wiz. As for the features. .. Good luck with that

Ariel 2.6 is AOKP but has a custom sense launcher. I think, at least.

No. The Ariel ROM is built off the Samsung TouchWiz stock ROM and is still Ice Cream Sandwich. Sense is not involved, that's HTC.

Oh, okay. My bad my good sir.
Touchwiz is an integrated framework. Samsung downloads the source from Google, modifies it, adds their own BS and bloat, recompiles it, then distributed it. The Touchwiz modifications reach deep into the system libraries. They also add their own libraries. None of which is present in an AOSP ROM. AOSP ROMs are compiled from the stock Google source so none of the library modifications or added libraries exist for any of the Touchwiz apps to work off of.

I do UTSE. I just couldn`t find anything concrete. Plus, logically, if you ask the questions that YOU want to know and you get the answers its better than going through 50 pages with only one person having the same problem as you.
ok i have a gripe. i'm very new to all this stuff. recently rooted and flashed and all that jazz. i come to this forum to get help and to research before i do anything stupid and brick my phone. and for the most part all my questions are answered without me ever having to post a thing. so thank you so very much. now having said that... some of the senior guys, you know who you are, the experienced "i'm too smart to deal with you morons" posters. give us a break. if you dont want to be bothered with noob questions here's a thought... dont reply. or maybe skip over the thread. please stop making us inexperienced people who are looking for advice and help too intimidated to post anything. i've gone through 5 threads in the last 15 minutes with some jerk trying to prove to us how stupid and moronic we are. if you don't want to help then shutup and carry on with your day. i'm sure you learned how to be polite and have some manners back in kindergarden.
thanks and sorry for the rant.
So by now we all know that Jelly Bean 4.2 has been released and has already been pushed to a lot of Galaxy Nexus devices around the globe. Myself, like many others, have a Galaxy Nexus on the Verizon network. I'm just as eager as anyone to get the 4.2 update but I do realize it's going to be a while before Verizon officially has the 4.2 update for us. What are my options as of now and the near future? Are there any ROMs I can use with the Verizon network and run 4.2? I'm currently running 4.1.1 JRO03O, so would I have to find a way to update to 4.1.2 before I could update to 4.2? Also, if I am able to find a ROM that will get me to 4.2, what features do I have to worry about losing? Many features of my phone I hold close, so I'd like full disclosure on which features could be compromised. I really appreciate your time for helping me!
Also, please be as detailed as possible with your responses - I imagine there are many others that view the forums like myself, looking for the answers to these questions without having to read through multiple 100+ page threads, finding answers bit by bit. A lot of people are running stock JB 4.1.1 on VZW network like myself and could benefit from these answers. Thanks so much guys!

You could just flash the 4.1.2 Takju firmware then wait a couple of hours and recieve it, thats what I did and I recieved it within 2 hours if you are really impatient.

I appreciate the simplicity if your answers, but I've been in the Verizon dev forum for a while now. I continue to read through thread after thread, but I want definitive answers. Please link me to the threads in the Verizon dev forum of ROMs that would work for me please. I created this thread so that others who were in the same situation as me could find the answers they need quickly, without having to browse through the verizon dev forum for hours and still feel unsure about flashing a rom. Again, if you don't mind, just link me to some of the threads you feel are important in relation to my situation. I'm more than happy to read through the thread, every single page. I just want to have a little assurance in the ROM I'm loading onto my Nexus. I need to make sure I don't need to run a 4.1.2 ROM first or if I can go straight from 4.1.1 to 4.2. etc etc Thanks guys

so you want to be spoonfed because you cannot read the title of the threads?
if you're replacing the system (which you are if you're flashing a rom) it doesnt matter what version you were on.
there are a couple 4.2 ROMs out already. they are all a little finnicky. my suggestion is to wait a couple days for the bugs to be worked out. as far as i know, some of the things not working last i checked was.
google location, go Google Now isn't working
photosphere was crashing in the gallery (although i was able to use it just now)
swype typing was not working (i have a 4.2 transformation package that i flashed and got it working)
overall, it is pretty stable with very few issues.
as for features missing from what you currently have or want, i dont know. its just Stock android 4.2 for right now.
lock screen widgets
photosphere
quick settings
new clock app
new Google apps (calendar, gmail with pinch to zoom ect)
its all there.
Flash CM10, it has a built in update checker so you will be good to go when they drop a 4.2 nightly.
Thanks for all the information! I guess I'll wait a week or so and see which ROM is out at that point and has the best reviews for stability and functionality. And yes, I can read the thread titles... but when you click on thread after thread and they were all started MONTHS ago, they aren't much help for an update that came out days ago. And also, none of the thread titles say anything about 4.2... sure, they say JB, but JB is 4.1.1, 4.1.2 and 4.2 so that doesn't help much either. That's why I asked. Also because in the VZW development forum it says DONT ASK QUESTIONS so... where else would I go? Isn't that the point of a Q&A forum? To answer questions and not go around being a smart ** to people just looking for help? Like seriously?

does anyone know that status of Miracast on the Galaxy Nexus?
Alright, I am not saying that its bad. I have been flashing custom roms for last 3-4 yrs now but on my prevous phone it made sense since it was stuck on Gingerbread. The custom roms gave me 4.2.2 which was hell of a jump. But with note 2 .. all the custom features that are built in stock roms are pretty much gone with flashing custom roms. I see these as going backwards. The spen functionality is completely gone. Yes, you can install some custom apps but they dont have the same features as the stock. Also the sensor features, built in browser, multi window .. all are gone. I have been using paranoid 3.1 for about 2 months now and didnt really see any difference.. other than the tablet mode which is neat but nothing useful per se. pie controls were hard to use, and pretty buggy. Would disappear every now n then. Its fancy but not practical.
So now my question is.. whats are some of the key features that you are missing in stock and you get in custom that you are willing to let go of some useful features in stock? I am definitely missing something here and would like to learn from you..
I am thinking of going back to stock and rooting it ..

Sounds like you meant to ask why flash a AOSP rom not just a "custom rom" because most tw roms still have all the functionality you are saying is lost. To answer your question that is the great thing about Android. ..choice you have the choice to install it or not.

You can tell very easily first off by the screenshots aosp and tw do not look the same. Secondly with aosp you have to flash gapps. Third they are in two seperate forums. That is just a few of the many ways you can tell.

If you see mention of a firmware revision like ma7 or LJC, then you're dealing with a Twiz rom.
However with AOSP roms... The spen does work in its basic capability.

Because Paranoid Android & Tablet Mod are the best thing to happen to this Note! Also because "Whoomp" Rom is based on stock but much better because it gives you options. However I do understand your criticism, whats different this time is "Touch Jizz" doesn't suck as bad as previous versions and its actually becoming a bit of a highlight with its built in features.
However we will always want to flash roms because like beautiful women "there's always someone tired of F_____g them"! Something new even if isn't superior!:good:

Okay, so I've had i317 for about 4 months now, its a great phone. I would just love to see an ics 4.0.4 rom, be it stock or aosp,, aokp, etc for this device. The reason being is that there are alot of apps I used to use, such as UMA and a few others I cannot remember as of right now. Forgive me if this isn't the correct area to post the question lol. But can anyone possibly help me with my issue I'm having? A. ort or something would be ideal if possible.
On a side note: I have some prior knowledge with developing roms and getting them to work fully and such, like betas alphas and what not. just haven't gave much thought as to post on the forum untill now. So I'm not completely of the noob calibur so to speak.
Lastly, my final question, would anyone be interested in deving up a 100% pure custom 4.3 rom that is completely Pokemon themed right down to the contacts and dialer. I will include more detail upon request, also one that isn't 10.1 based or cm in general. The reason I say non cm based is because volume+ sound boost breaks the speaker and crackles pretty badly, and i am partialy deaf so the apk is much needed. Any help would be be very appreciated and id be eternally greatful.

It's not going to happen. The note 2 was shipped with 4.1.1 (or higher) so there is no 4.0 source for devs to work with.
Also, since pretty much every AOSP rom uses the CM Theme Manager, it's not that common to see themed roms (there are exceptions, but they tend to be lightly themed). Either find a CM theme to your liking or learn to theme your rom.
Sorry my friend...
You aren't the only one wanting it...
I'd even take a nice CM6 ROM for this device...
But as mentioned... It's just a dream... g

Okay, well shoot. Could you at least tell me that the possibility to get an apk to adapt and work on a newer rom is possible? I ask this because the main reason for me asking a dream question is simply that I love the ultimate mobile armor apk. it is the best privacy apk ever thought of. It was removed for reasons unknown. Back when I had my S3 and I717, it worked on both. Sadly it will not stick on the rooms I run currently. (Cleanrom 5.0, lionrom 2.1, etc.) Could the scripts and such be altered somehow for it to be compatible? On the S3 I always ran cm10 and its stick. Any thoughts, ideas and suggestions that are helpful and or leading to an apk exactly similar to ultimate mobile armour would be greatly appreciated.

Apk alteration is very possible ...
The trick is finding a dev to work it out ...and since apps are owned by their respective creators ...you would need permission from him/her to use or modify the code...
And I've always said it ...
A few emails and pm's go a long way..
Hit up the dev and see what you can learn ...g

Ive looked and searched and I've found nothing from the devs of this apk. Its been completely stricken from the web. What are my other options here as far as these apk Modding concerns go? I've found nothing for secure mobile sadly.
I see...
That being said ...it appears the app has been killed off for legal reasons ??
And lookout mobile is inferior how ??
Most of these security apps are monitored via 3rd party in addition to device activity ...
So it stands to reason that if your service for the apk is dead....it won't work anyway..
Best advice...pick an alternate and move forward....
Lookout and AVG are both exceptional ...and many others are available ..
Norton or Mccaffe possibly too...
Happy hunting ...and sorry I couldn't be of more help...g

Ok... if all you have to say is.. "Why didn't you search this?" or "Not another post about this." or "The best ROM is the one that YOU like, so just try them all"... then just save your time and move along, really, I'm not a noob, I've tried ROMs, I want some personal recommendations that meet specific needs...
Having said that, I have searched around, I've read through a bunch of ROM threads and tried 2 different ones... I'm in a hurry and need a few solid recommendations from the peeps...
I need a good solid/stable ROM WITH S-Note (I use it a ton at work and I just can't live without it right now, which is also the reason I'm in a hurry and can't afford to have days on end with only a semi-functional phone while testing different ROMs)... Also, I've tried one of the Note 3 ROMs that had the newest S-Note version and tried all sorts of things but couldn't get my old notes to work on the new S-Note app.
I just need something relatively new, fast, stable and with S-Note. I like themeing and add-on options and cool stuff so the more of that stuff the better.....
So... any ROMs with those requirements that you've used and are just crazy about?... Something you've been stuck on as a DD for while it's so good?
Thanks for the recommendations guys.. (I've been out of the ROM flashing thing for almost a year and just need a good place to start back)
Cheers,
Blakjak

Thanks for the recommendations guys.. (I've been out of the ROM flashing thing for almost a year and just need a good place to start back)
Cheers,
Blakjak

Sounds like you're be better off keeping it safe with a rooted stock ROM
AT&T UCUBMK6 i317 *Deodexed* Stock CWM Note 2

Then load Xposed Frameworks

Then check out the modules

And see how you want to tweak/mod yourself.
The way I got Snote3 to work with old Notes was accidental. I signed into my Samsung account where I had them synced. It popped up asking if I wanted to import them, and it worked.
Thanks for the ideas.... I'm running Jedix20 right now and it seems to be pretty good but I'm gonna give the Xposed framework a try.
