I was running Hashcodes 4.2 Rom with TWRP already installed. I followed the instructions for Starirom. Now, however, after the blue KF, I get a blank screen (with backlight). I can reboot into recovery, but somehow, my nandroid backup didn't work..... I'm going to try to run the fix red screen batch, but I have no other ideas. I can't seem to mount the usb storage and access my sdcard from my computer. Any help would be appreciated. TWRP seems to be working perfectly though.
Thanks
Update: Running the fix red screen did the trick. Does anyone know why?
Update again: Nandroid backup was in a weird folder...all is well!

Hello all,
I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I thought I'd give it a try.
I own a Desire myself and the rooting / flashing a new ROM process was pretty easy so I thought I can help a friend out and put a custom ROM on his new Motorola Defy. Turns out I sucked at it. *ahem*
Right, the problem is as follows:
I got the brand new device, used SuperOneClick to root it, tried ROM Manager to install ClockworkMod CWM and it said Defy isnt supported in ROM Manager. So I google'd and it came up with this [german] (not allowed to post links), which basically gave me CWM.zip with an apk in it, which installed "System Recovery" and gave me the option to "Install System Recovery" and Reboot into Recovery - successfully bootet into CWM 2.5.1.8 , alright.
I did a nandroid backup and then wiped everything, selected the ROM on the sdcard to install MIUI 1.9.9 ROM, which worked fine. After it finished installing, I chose reboot system now.
Now what happens is:
I try to boot normally: I Only get the Motorola logo on screen and nothing ever happens
I boot into recovery like I used to know (Power + VolDown), I get a screen with a yellow exclamation mark and the android robot on it. Figured out that both volume keys take me to Android System Recovery Utility. I wiped everything again, that didn't help. I tried giving it the CWM.zip as an update.zip but it refuses that because it's apparently not properly signed. I can't do anything else in there. It also gives me a couple of errors "E: Can't moint CACHE:recovery/command" (/caller, /log)
Please, can anybody help me out? It seems I can't boot any ROM from it right now, nor do I know how to get CWM back in to at least even restore the nandroid backup (which I still have).
I would love to, at the end of the day, have a rooted device with CWM running and MIUI 1.9.9. If that doesn't work, at least can I restore the CWM backup somehow to have to stock ROM running?
I would really appreciate any help very much and realize I may be in over my head, it just seemed too easy on the Desire I previously used. Thanks a lot!
Hi, I am not a noob, but my phone seems to be malfunctioning. Specifically it is having this problem:
My Incredible is running CM7 with ClockwordMod and was having many force close problems and the only solution seemed to be to do a factory reset or try getting a backup from recovery. When I tried recovery however, the phone got stuck on the HTC Incredible white screen and never did anything else. I took out the battery and tried factory reset, this produced the same result. I tried starting up the phone at that point again and when it got to the skateboarding android splash screen, it kept freezing and starting the animation over again. I am fine just doing a wipe through the USB if that's possible but I don't know how that is done. Thanks in advance for any help.
I have tried to flash CWM Recovery using the SDK, but it unfortunately has been giving me a different error, and it won't let me. I am wondering if my phone is dead, and there is no chance of bringing it back.
Currently using an OG Droid that I had as a back-up and wait for the Galaxy Nexus to come out.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you.
Your phone is probably fine. Just the recovery needs reflashing.
Go to PvilleComp's site and download a recovery flashable from HBOOT (PB31IMG.zip method). Just boot into HBOOT with the file on the root of the SD card, and it recovery should work again.
Thank you very much! This worked perfectly.
Was able to get back into CM7. Am back up and running.
HUGE HELP!
Hi!
Downloaded and clean flashed AOKP B30 and gapps, came from M4. Got into a bootloop. Went into recovery, wiped, still bootloop. Pushed an original image to the phone via Gnex Toolkit. Still bootloop!!
Now I have no idea what to do....
Please help!!
CWM cant find my sdcard either it seems!
If I try going into stock recovery, I get an android with a triangle.
Step 1: Take a deep breath. Your device is fine (although your data is probably gone).
Recovery cannot find /sdcard because there is likely an issue with your data partition, where /sdcard resides. The best thing to do is flash the stock images again. I recommend you do it manually so you can actually see what you are doing, instead of using a toolkit. Follow this procedure and you will be fine. And flash back CWM. (The android you are seeing with the red exclaimation point IS the stock recovery. To access the menu from there, repeatedly press volume up and power until you see the menu.)
Thanks for your help, but it seems the problem was that the phone was connected to the computer. So I probably just flashed stock and wiped my sdcard for nothing. Since everytime it bootlooped, the computer tried to install a driver.
I feel stupid.

Hello, sorry for creating a 'HELP I don't know what to do!' thread, but I really am stuck now.
I had some Adrenaline rom for quite a while but today I decided to go back to stock because I was having some minor problems.
I suppose flashing stock went okay. I've got the stock recovery now, but the phone loops on boot. With the help of this thread I've figured this is because the previous rom (probably) used ext4 whereas stock needs rfs. That guy got it working by going through adb doing something that I can't even get to because adb doesn't recognize my phone. (I've tried installing drivers for adb but Windows doesn't want to use them because it thinks its own drivers are superior, even though I've uninstalled these, it keeps reinstalling them)
I also can't get CWM working. I've run the root update.zip and that seemed to go fine, but when installing CWM the screen just freezes and the phone reboots when pressing the home button.
I'm kind of stuck on how to revive my gio, any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Edit: SOLVED, thread may be deleted. Went to try flashing CWM through odin (ext4+rfs) and during the reboot phase my phone suddenly booted into the android OS.
I have a T999 that is locked up. I would like to try and restore this phone if I can. The buttons do nothing anymore. I cant get it into recovery (was TWRP) or download.
I found someone who had made a debrick image to boot from the SDcard. I have it on a 32G sdcard and can kind of get it to boot with the sdcard. Usually it only stays in recovery or download for a few seconds. I cant get Odin to connect to the T999. Odin sees my Galaxy S4 fine though.
Any ideas of how to recover this phone or should I just forget it? I am about sick of Windows 7 (64) so I am about to go back to Linux if that would help. Thanks for any tips.
I was able to get TWRP installed, kind of. Im not sure which TWRP. It was on another debrick image. Now it is working with the buttons though. It just wont make it past the logos on recovery, boot, or download. I was able to make it to the TWRP rom image install one time but, I didnt have any roms on an sdcard. By the time I got a rom loaded on a card the phone rebooted.
Any ideas on what is so messed up on this phone or how I can get the correct TWRP or CWM installed correctly?
Getting Close
I have TWRP 2.8.6.0 installed and kind of working. I have a T999TMBEMJC rom installed that kind of works. Random reboots though. I do get errors in recovery about writing to /data even after formatting in TWRP. I even installed Docs PIT.
Im starting to wonder if it isn't because I replaced the glass with a cheap replacement that floats over the display? It seems to be working a little better if I don't touch it.
Update: I think its the power button. If I so much as brush it (no click), the screen goes off or it tries to reboot. Only took 56 recovery installs and 6 sdcard debrick recovers.
Any ideas on how to fix the power button?
Update 2: Got it. It was the small piece of felt between the power button and the frame. Removed that and it works fine now. TWRP, Download and custom Rom all work fine now.
Hope this might help someone else. I think this can be closed. Thanks.
