You can get like $280-$350 (maybe more if you include accessories) with a good ESN. Of course, eBay charges a little fee though -__-

I have mine on eBay now its at $99.99 it is in perfect condition and has tons of accessories, people better start bidding Lol, it has about 4 days left though. I saw that price on best buy though which is very good compared to every other trade in place. Sprint said they would give me $106 for a mint S3 ummm no thanks. The thing is that I'm buying this phone, either the S4 or the One, off contract full price so best buy always charges like $150 more for off contract phones. Its not worth it.

With my selling experience on eBay like 85% of the bids come within a couple hours of the end time. Trust me you'll get $300+. PM me and let me know what you get! I'm thinking of doing the same and paying the difference to get the S4 with no upgrade. I have a ton of accessories too.

Will do, and thats what i was thinking about a bunch of bids coming in the end. Also I figure tomorrow is payday for some people. I better get $300 lol AT LEAST! I have 3 cases 3 oem batteries and one extended battery and two chargers and a S3 with the box in perfect condition. Thats why when I went into Sprint and the guy was saying" Just pay the early upgrade for $100 and give us your old S3 we will knock $106 off the upgrade price which is $450. lol I asked if he was smoking crack and then said he77 no. Lol. It was funny and sad to listen to them try and "convince" me to do a early upgrade.

Could that $106 go towards and upgrade ?
Either way I would be better off selling my gs3 for $250 minimum and that would cover the upgrade fee.

So this is how it works. If you are eligible for a upgrade or buy the phone off contract, you get to keep your device. If you want to upgrade early it is whatever price they say depending on where you are in your contract and they take the device you are using and give you some ungodly amount for it, whatever they give you for the phone goes toward the upgrade. Which is a ripoff.

If you would have checked Thursday 4/25/13 best buy was giving $350 for the phone as trade in value. I had buy back on my phone which guarantees me $280 right now. But because the trade in value was higher than buy back, I would have received $376.50 if I traded my phone in. I was stupid not to do it. I still get $280 but that's almost $100 difference lol

Re:
If you want to do the early upgrade what you need to do is find an old phone from
Sprint with a clean esn and trade it in. Then you can pay the early upgrade fee and get phone with subsidize price. Then sell the phone that your S3 on ebay or craiglist foe 300+ and that way you'll save some money. For the early upgrade fee they just need a phone to be trade in but it doesn't has to be your current phone it just need be a clean esn phone. You trade in like an old blackberry or the first Evo or it could even be feature phone like Moto Rzor but with clean esn.

Yes this is what I was going to do but it's not worth it to buy the early upgrade. I'm just going to buy the phone off contract.

All together how much would doing the early upgrade cost? Cause buying off contract is like $750+, obviously if it's cheaper than that, then doing the early upgrade would be wroth it!

From browsing the HTC One forum you can ask bestbuy to price match the retail price for the carrier. Some say it worked, others said it didn't. Can't hurt to try.

Im a tmo customer desperately trying to get rid of this g2x. Problem is tmo wants to charge me $540 for the phone, and my upgrade is nowhere near due. Is there ANY way I could somehow get this phone from tmo for the contract price ? any loop holes or something ?
any chance you can cancel your current contract? or transfer it to some body else in your family/friends perhaps?
then open a new contract new phone number, and get the SGS2
then swap the SIM card, and you are done
Not really. Otherwise everyone would do this every 6 months. Just sell the g2x and buy the gs2. You can get up to like 275 or so depending on condition. Subtract that from the retail of the gs2 and it's basically the same. Plus you can get them to split the payments up on your bill.

i was on the phone asking a rep about the split payments and she denied that they even do that. I always sells my phones on craigslist to upgrade, did it with the hero, evo, galaxy 1, g2x...but craigsloist is FLOODED with people selling the g2x i didnt post on it thinking i wouldnt be able to sell mine since there are so many postings. But thanks looks like i will have to just go the normal route. Thanks for the info.
She lied. I've done that with a bb9700,hd2 on contract,g2. They split it into 4 payments. The first you pay upfront with all sales tax included. So say 529+tax youd pay 132 or so plus the tax on 529 today. Then starting on your December bill, you'll have an extra 132 added to your bill the next 3 cycles. Essentially, your first payment delays a month of it being on your bill.
Also depends on credit I assume.

You can only split you equipment into payments if you are on a value plan were you do not get and discount on the phone. They did away with it once value plans came out

Ditto to this! I mean, the features offered on the g2x are 2nd to none, but the execution of these features are horrendous. LG beat me on that purchase, but surely lg and me will not be transacting again in the near future! I'm digging this sgs2 tho!

Are there advantages to getting the HTC LTE at Best Buy instead of Sprint?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I prefer Best Buy. The biggest reason for me is because with sprint you have to send in for the mail in rebate's while with Best Buy they are instant so you don't have to wait 6-8 weeks to get your money back. Also sometimes the prices are actually cheaper at Best Buy.
Also, the sales people at Sprint stores work on comission while those at BestBuy do not.....the sales people at Sprint are like used car salesmen. They will promise/say anythnig to get you to buy something so thety make money while those at Best Buy do not since tehy get paid the same regardless and thus are usually more honest.

Doesn't matter. The first 30 days are covered from both places, if you have a problem in the first 30 days just bring it back and they should give you a new device. After the 30 days, you have the warranty good through one year, and you have to take it to a sprint repair center.

Very good question, and glad you asked actually.
Would probably respectfully say, Best Buy would be your best bet. You get the phone the same day as you do with Sprint, but the mail in rebate is already subtracted from the original retail price which is a +.
Hope we helped you come to a conclusion

Best buy also offers the buy back program. I got it for free but I think it now runs like 30-40 bucks. Basically they take the full price of the phone before discounts and offer you a percentage back which varies depending on when u bring it back. I know after a year they give u 40%. So the evo was what 650-700 when I bought it I think. Well after a year they pay u 40% of that. It goes down a little after that but slowly. Just makes u be able to update every year still without the upgrade.
Much appreciated to all. Sounds like I'm going to best buy.

Mail in rebate??
So wait, the $199 pricetag is after a mail-in rebate through Sprint?? I was unaware of this. So you pay like $299 up front?
Does Best Buy have the May 7th pre-order also?
Oh... I think I have a $50 BB gift card! That may have made this decision easier. Haha.

Correct. Some stores/managers MAY wave the mail-in and give it to you instantly, but I doubt it.
And yes, BB will get the release the exact same day as sprint.

Believe it or not Radio shack is amazing to buy phones. they are so desperate on phone selling. a few of my friends work there and they always have amazing deals for phones either with discounted price or with free goodies.
so how much is that new evo LTE gonna cost retail? I'll have a crappy $150 rebate, but i'm not paying $650 for that phone. Is there around this at all? threaten to cancel?
which would be better then?

You can do the buyout program. It's like $20 per month early; something like that.

theres pros and cons to both. Sprint has more freedom to do things but Best buy can many times give you more out the door but yeah Radio shack is stepping up.

You can get the verizon nexus free under contract right now at amazon. The ETF is 350 so it costs the same as the gsm nexus without a contract.

What?? Yeah, if you don't figure in the $1,700 you'll lose from a 2 year contract while spending around $70 a month. That's around $1900-$2000 if you wanted to pay the ETF to cancel early. The most you'd spend with a Gnex and (for example) the T-Mo $30/month plan? $1100. My advice? Get the Gnex. I am receiving mine Monday, switching over to it from an iPhone and I couldn't be more happy to not only go back to Android but also go back to an unlocked phone. Being contract free is exhilarating. It'll be worth it, then whenever the new Nexus comes out, you don't have to wait for any contracts to expire or anything like that you just have to wait for the $349 price tag again

The up-front cost of the device is a very small fraction of what you pay in a 2 year contract at Verizon...

the nexus is not lacking in hardware, the camera works GREAT if you learn how to use it and aosp with quick/real updates is what makes it the better device. I can't even explain how much of a disappointment it is having something so good as the nexus and then downgrading to a phone you think would have been better... besides, owning a nexus supports the true android experience

How did you get it sold for so much?!?! I am planning on doing the same as you, But the prices on ebay are mostly all bellow 200 anything above that has no bids :/ Mine has a 32 gb SD card. two cases all original accessories an extra anker battery and is in mint condition. My only doubt was that the phone is already over 6 months old and specs are decent but nothing compared to the One x or S3. I wonder how many more full versions of android it will see after jellybean. I thought about waiting for the next Nexus but I highly doubt it will carry the same price tag.

I dunno why I'm going to be the one pointing this out, but that poster mentioned the ETF because there is a practice of buying phones on contract and then paying the ETF which is usually half of the price of an off-contract version. You don't pay anything monthly for the Verizon because you cancel.

Huh never thought of doing that. However my ETF is still $150 and there is only 2months left on my ATT contract. My wife has a year left and her ETF is $275. I know over the course of 2 years you'd make it up by going prepaid either way though.
I guess if for some reason I don't like my Nexus I can use my upgrade to get the SGS3 and just ETF right away.

I'm confident you'll like it, there's a reason it's still being called the best Android phone on the market.

I think its amazing!
So I think I am going to ditch sprint and their crappy data speeds and switch to Verizon. Best buy has a deal right now that you can get a free nexus with a 2 year deal.
I stupidly bought the buyback thingy when I got the phones. I would get $40 for it. I've seen them go on ebay for higher than that. Since my phone is rooted should I sell on ebay because it may be worth more rooted?
Thankssssssssssss.

So you have an evo you are looking to sell and your asking if its better to sell on eBay or trade it in?
Is it a clean esn?
If it is, its worth a bunch! Depending on shape $135+/-
If its not clean, I've still seen them all going for $100.
I bought a bad esn, very clean one for $80. And that was way under all current bids.
This pricing was about 3 weeks ago
AOKP anything
I would try to sell it through craigslist (local only). The phone is worth $100 all day long if its in perfect working order. Don't hold out to get more, cause you probably won't. I am starting to find SGS2 for $100 - 150's, get what you can for it since it's still worth money.

I'll try that too. Seems after more searching on Ebay that's the route I will go if I don't get a local sale. I actually have 2 evo's. Mine is in good shape (dropped it once) with no problems. It's rooted with SensuAOSP right now. My wifes is in perfect condition with the latest ota on it, not rooted.
How much do you think I should ask? $80 for mine and maybe $100 for hers?

It just depends on how bad you want to get rid of them. Sounds like they both should pull $100, I wouldn't differentiate the price between the two unless that one drop of yours made a BIG difference in visual quality. From my experience, start with Craigslist for a few days at $120, then go to Ebay with plenty of pics. Some people recommend still trying to sell on Craigslist while you have it listed on Ebay at the same time, but I'm not a fan of that. To each their own though.

+1 to this man. CL ONLY.
Believe it or not Best Buy gave us $120 each for our phones. Not bad. We are the proud owners of 2 Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I loved my EVO but I am so happy to make full use of a smart phone on a better network.

Try swappa most of the devices on there are rooted or have some sort of mods so people go there looking for an already rooted device.*

Did you have to sign up for a new contract in order for it to sell for $120?
I can't remember if I had to sign a new contract or not for the buy back. I think they would have done it for an upgrade as well.
They actually gave me $120 PER PHONE!
Needless to say I went with that vs selling on cl or ebay.

Hello XDA:
I'm looking to shop for a Galaxy Note 2, with clean IMEI number, anyone know of a best place to buy it off the contract? I want a brand New in the box etc...
If anyone know, please post the deals in this thread...
Thanks,
I'm sure it will help many people who are looking to buy one.
Went to best buy. Traded in my phone. They paid me about $200 bucks for my phone, and beat Tmobile's price of $319 for the note. Best Buy sold me a note for $219 bucks, and THEN they subtracted the $200 they gave me for my old phone. I walked out with a new note 2 only paying $37.70. (I must make notice that I also purchased their warranty which replaces the phone if ANYTHING bad happens to it *minus theft* and a case, which they also matched the price of another site on and since they didnt have any otter boxes)
All in all, i think Best Buy has the competition beat here, but i please IMPLORE others to post me a better deal....maybe then i can tell them to price match that and they can give me some of my $40 bucks back lol!

Well, it seems the Note 2 from T-Mobile's website is back-ordered. Does anyone know how long it generally takes for the new stocks to come in?

I got mine on contract. I thought that's what we were talking about. Calm down... The original person never specifically asked for either so I told them my deal. Can't get mad if you didn't specify!

Guys this guy and he sold me a bad imei number cellphone(note 2) last week in NewYork and it seems he has been doing this business on online forums and craigslist for a number of years.I regret being a victim but do not want you guys to be part of his cheating business. He gave me he box which has different imei than the actual imei number of the phone. This guy is a professional thief who is well educated but for the very wrong cause. He might change his id but his name is and do not deal with him.

I bought mine from a tmobile store owner for 650 cash. The owner had used it for one week and just likes to try all the phones out. Got a free 32gb Samsung card, case, battery and screen protector. Oh ya and some random car charger. Came with a bill of sale and IMEI number on it ^_^

Lol, scott that kinda sounds shady but i believe you. I just was not aware that any corp store could do that. Especially giving the accessories with it.
Kinda makes me wanna think twice about returning my phones next time. I do that alot...and by that, i mean like the guy, buy and try new phones quite a bit...at least, ones they don't end up sending me for free

It was a tmobile store but not an official one. It is called emobile in garden Grove ca. All I wanted was a legitimate bill of sale. I tried ten different people on Craigslist but no one would even give me a bill of sale.
