[Q] Cannot revert to stock (CID H3G__001, HBOOT 1.18.0000) - HTC One V

Hi,
I have a specific question, but first the general problem:
I've been trying to revert to stock after stupidly deleting my backup. The phone was on Three, but is now unlocked, but the CID prevents me using the generic Euro RUU. The H3G RUUs here are all for an older version of HBOOT than the one that came with my phone (it's second hand and maybe the previous owner got an OTA update). Apparently a nandroid backup might work, but I haven't found any on the forum for my CID and HBOOT version. If you have one, please let me know.
Currently I'm running myOneV, which is close to stock.
Last thing I tried was mdiaz33685's posted stock ROMs here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2082504
I got an error when trying to install the ROM from TWRP (already flashed boot):
Code:
error: file_write: write: I/O error
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/roms/PrimoU_Europe_2.22.401.1_Stock_Rooted_ODEX_FULL.zip'
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/roms/PrimoU_Europe_2.22.401.1_Stock_Rooted_ODEX_FULL.zip'
Any idea what to do next?

By the way, I've been following CafeKampuchia's post on overwriting the CID, and tried his method for overwriting using dd to no avail. It seems gold cards don't work, both from my experience and this thread.
Also, I would post the specific question to the thread for mdiaz's ROM, but can't until I have 10 posts.

[Q] HTC One X doesn't work, error 7 on setup any(!) ROM

Device: HTC One X AT&T USA, Android 4.0.4
HBoot 1.14 (unlocked), S-ON, cid: 11111111 (was CWS__001), rooted (CWM-SuperSU-v0.96)
Hi,
I have sim-unlocked AT&T HTC One X that I bought in USA last year and used it in 'as is' condition. A week ago it got to cyclical reboot. I made factory reset, but of course I lost all my data. In this case I decided to upgrade HBoot and setup lastest CyanogenMod (yeap, I thought I have nothing to lose ).
I re-writed cid to supercid, unlocked flashboot, rooted the phone... but made a mistake and flashed CyanogenMod boot.img before upgraded Hboot *facepalm*.
And now it's unable to load android (it just shows HTC logo with red warning text).
Of course, I tried to restore original Boot from backup, but this didn't help.
I'm able to open Bootloader and custom recovery menu (recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.1-evita.img), but unable to install any ROM (tried to use ROMs that are based on ICS, because my Hboot 1.14) - it always returns me error 7, even if all requirements are met. Tried to remove asserts from updater-script , but in this case it just shows 'Opening update package... Installing update... Installation aborted.'
I tried almost all that I found in web, used different backups and ROMs, but nothing helped.
I also tried to flash stock RUU (european, since I didn't find USA version - btw does it matter?) , but it getting Error 132 - Signature error.
Please could somebody help me to return my phone to a working state? Any advices are truly appreciated!
P.S. Unfortunately on one of the steps I lost my original backup (sdcard was formated).
Thanks.
You CANNOT INSTALL A RUU THAT DOESN'T MATCH YOUR CID !
Also you are in the wrong forum mate, since this is for the international tegra 3 HOX ONLY !, with may be the cause of your trouble
Please visit the AT&T HOX forum and you will find all you need
Yeah go the at+t forum and there you can s-off your evita HTC one XL ! Then you can install any ruu, update and downgrade the bootloader

[Q] Installing OTA - Red Triangle

Hi All,
I am currently S-Off and on an Unlocked Bootloader. I have the Harmon Kardon sound mod applied.
I used to have TWRP recovery and last night flashed on a stock recovery to my device.
When I click on the OTA download install my phone reboots to recovery with the Triangle and a Green Line. This progresses to around 30-40% completion and then stops and shows the Red Triangle which means I have to Vol Up + Power to restart.
Settings>About>Software Info> Software Number>
Mine is 1.54.61.5
CID is: ORANG001
Anyone have any idea where I am going wrong?
Firstly, you're not searching as this question has been asked and answered a lot.
Secondly, your ROM is detected as not stock and the patch is failing.
You'll need to return to stock, thus process is described in lots of threads.

I searched and found some conflicting comments with some stating that the bootloader needed to be re-locked, and some saying my CID needed to be changed to 1111.
I don't have a stock backup so I'm stuck for what I need to do, I'm presuming I need some stock apps that may be got removed?
I'll keep searching, thanks for taking the time to reply.

Hi
I've ensured I have the correct recovery.
When the installation fails it is because of this error: Verifying Current System...
/system/customize/ACC/default.xml has unexpected contents. Installation Aborted.
I've made sure my MID and CID are correct and I have a stock recovery
Is this because I have the HK Sound Mod?

Yep .... HK mod modified the default.xml
That's why I gave you that link so you can revert to real Stock.
Is there away to copy the default.xml from the stock backup links and paste it into phone?
Or is this likely to cause an issue.

Sure, with a root explorer, or adb, or lots of other ways, assuming you have the kernel mod for writing system. You might get bored of that though, I suspect more than one file is altered or missing.

[Q] Unable to flash stock ROM

Hello,
I want to update my firmware and eventually get the most recent ViperOne. I stupidly changed my CID to "11111111" but have since put it back to "HTC__001" as I'm AT&T. I've tried to use Firewater to get S-OFF but it fails after the first "chug." I tried using RootNinja's test app and that was a no-go too. So I'm trying to go back to stock by simply flashing the stock ROM. I have the stock recovery, but I understand I need to flash the stock ROM first.
I have TWRP 2.8.0.3 installed. My mainversion as reported from the bootloader is 1.12.508.18. So I found this page: http://venomroms.com/firmware_443/
which links to a list of stock ROM's here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
The file it has there is a .rar file, which TWRP won't even see (despite the notes at the above site saying they used TWRP 2.6.3). I extracted this and recompressed it to a .zip. When I try to flash it, it says it's missing an md5 file and I can't see that there's a way to skip the md5 check. I can't manage to find the stock ROM for that version anywhere else. I've been at this for two nights now. I'm stuck and don't know what to do/check.
Can anybody offer any advice?
Yeah read a little more careful in my thread.....there is a second post for a reason too :--
You have one of the most confusing phones ever. An AT&T device with CID HTC__001 instead of CWS__001 running software 1.12.508.18 instead of 1.12.502.18...

Then we didn't mention the fact that you're trying to flash a nandroid backup instead of restoring it through the custom recovery. At this rate it would have taken you many nights still...
Yikes - cannot believe I missed that second post. Sorry - I've read through so much material I must have missed that or thought I'd already read it. I'll go back through that part since it obviously has things I need to do.

[Q] I screwed up my M8

Hey guys,
I got myself an HTC ONE M8 last saturday and noticed i couldn't write to my SD card with non-google apps.
So i decided to install another ROM. The Android Revolution HD 22.1 to be exact.
However, since i'm a complete noob, i did not check if the firmware matches. Which it doesn't.
When entering fastboot it's says my 'OS' is 1.54.161.10 , but Android Revolution HD 22.1 needs 3.xx.xxx.xx right?
Now i tried flashing another firmware but that didn't work. First i got error 42 because the CID didn't match. (it's VODAPE17)
i added that CID to the android-info.txt inside the firmware.zip and got rid of error 42.
Now i getting error 12. According to Sneakyghost:
For Error 12 “signature fail" do:
- might indicate that a signed firmware package is required. This would only happen with S-ON phones though.
Does this mean i need to get my phone S-OFF with sunshine, or is there another way to fix this problem? ( I already tried firewater, didn't work)
I don't mind going back to the original M8 ROM. I just want to get rid of all this trouble
Thanks!

You should post the solution, for the benefit of others.
I assumed you did s-off? Otherwise, you can't flash another CID's firmware.

[Q] GPE to stock to unlock

Hello guys,
I purchased a second hand HTC One M8 which has been converted to GPE, unlocked bootloader and S-OFF. The phone is currently locked to the Vodafone network, so I assume it was previously a Vodafone branded device.
Now I need to get this phone unlocked because Im with another netowork, so I purchased an unlock code online which failed (they have always worked in the past). I got a refund from the seller and was told to try a different seller. Purchased a new one but it turned out to be the same code. I told the seller my story and was told I need to make sure I am on the latest official stock ROM. Maybe the previous owner entered an incorrect code too many times and disabled this whole thing altogether? I dont know.
Im not sure how a stock ROM would make a difference, but the phone is useless to me being locked to Vodafone so I guess its worth a try. Now heres where I need your help because Im a Nexus user so Im not too familiar with all these CIDS, MIDS, etc.
I have changed my CID to superCID, do I now just flash the Vodafone RUU? Or do I need to take further steps? I dont really need to change the MID aswell do I? I will not be staying on stock, I will most likely be returing to GPE or some AOSP ROM and I'd like to keep the bootloader unlocked and S-OFF.
Also are there any other methods to get this SIM unlocked? I have read the thread about using a generated dat file, but read that no longer works.
Thanks.
Follow the 'back to sense' thread in general first, then set CID to the Vodafone one, I assume UK), then flash the RUU
Hi,
Thanks. Is this the thread you are referring to?
I thought I could flash any RUU with superCID which is why I changed to that, but no problem I'll just change it over to Vodafone to be safe, it is VODAP001 for the UK version I believe.
You can use the unbranded EU RUU if you prefer, it's up to you
And yes, that thread
No what I meant was I thought I should be able to flash the Vodafone RUU using superCID without having to change to the Vodafone one...but nevermind I changed it over anyway.
But Im having some problems with this actually. I downloaded what I thought to be the Vodafone ROM from the HTC dev site, the file name is m8ul-3.4.0-g3c7a5c1.zip, I follwed the steps laid out in the going back to sense thread but I get an error message '24 parsing android-info fail', tried a few times as mentioned in the thread but same thing happens.
I then located a Vodafone RUU exe in this thread. That failed to even run as confirmed by another member, something to do with InstallScript.
So then I tried flashing the previous zip file with the htc_fastboot that you provided in the same thread, same error as before.
Any suggestions? Or do you know if there is a working Vodafone RUU available anywhere?
The file on HTC Dev is the kernel source, which is why that hadn't worked.
As for the RUU, it looks like it could be corrupt.
You first have to flash that ZIP in the back to sense thread to get the partitions corrected and then you can flash an RUU. I'd just use the EU one as (for a start) it works and it means you don't have all the carrier rubbish
Oh ok, I didnt realise I had to flash that before flashing an RUU, I just thought flashing any RUU would sort out the partitions.
I'll go ahead and flash the zip file and the EU RUU as I am unable to find a Vodafone one. But Im really not too bothered about the carrier crap anyway because as I say the only reason for going back to stock is to try and SIM unlock the device, and if doing that will really make a difference then it would most likely do it on the stock Vodafone ROM, but I dont know I could be wrong.
I'll let you know how I get on.
You can SIM unlock it regardless of ROM. Some people say flashing the RUU will sort everything out but, in my experience, I've had to flash the first ZIP and then the RUU to get it all working properly
Thats what I thought but it didnt work. The unlock code provider then told me to make sure I am on official stock ROM which is why Im trying to get the Vodafone ROM loaded on this phone. As Ive said I dont know how much of a difference it will make if any, but it is worth a try I suppose.
Anyway Ive had some problems flashing the EU RUU, I followed the guide and flashed the firmware zip which went all fine. Then I flashed the EU RUU provided in your guide, but it kept giving me errors towards the end - 51 partition update fail. Downloaded another RUU which gave me the same error, tried an RUU exe which also failed. Tried flashing a different firmware but I cant remember if it failed at that stage or at the RUU stage. Then I thought maybe the firmware is an old version from Kit Kat. I felt as if I didnt know what I was doing and should give up!
I then came across this thread and that person was doing it through TWRP backups which I thought I should maybe try. But I dont know Ive been at this for hours and currently without a ROM or recovery! I think Im gonna flash back to GPE until I know what to do.
