Does the linaro toolchain decrease overall battery life - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

If it boosts performance does it also decrease battery life? Thanks

To be honest its not even proven 100% that it even increases performance. If you Google it you can find a lot of back and forth on the topic.
I personally call placebo on most performance mods..

The one that shuts your phone completely off...LOL.
All kidding aside, the only thing I have seen actually provide better battery life with these is to lower the max speed. Even the author of SetCPU says you can have performance or better battery life, not both. I believe SetCPU provides more options for profiles whereas Voltage control lets you play with voltages which of course is very dangerous for stability. There are so many options in both that it will be hard to get a definitive answer and since every phone is different, Your Mileage May Vary.

With voltage control (and now setcpu), you can undervolt and overclock which could theoretically give you performance and speed. I'm a setcpu supporter, btw.

I like SetCPU myself , but mainly because my phone doesn't do well with undervolting
Did setcpu in the past dropped for tegrak.....way better!

I'm undervolting with tegrak right now because I can't with setcpu. Definitely worth the money
It also depends what you are running. Voltage Control won't work with Gingerbread leaks and Tegrak with SetCPU is working nicely to prevent the random reboots in the leaks.

I used Voltage Control on my phone and SetCPU on my tab.
I support setcpu, i use it well, as u concerned thd battery life, so lower the max frequency, hope to help u!

ICS Battery Life Improvement?

I owned a Palm Pre and Pre 2 before moving to Android with my Epic 4G Touch. Battery life would be horrible for about 24-48 hours with updates and flashing new kernels. After this battery life would improve dramatically. Is this the case with the new update? Has anyone found ways to improve battery life? Has there been changes to push notifications settings and network background internet services that could be responsible?
I use a battery stat wipe app. Called battery calibration. It seems to fix the battery issue a little faster. I run it every time I flash a new rom/kernel

Maybe underclocking or running a governer would help.
Take that with a grain of salt because I am unsure if it would help or hurt battery life, my real world sense says it would help but idk.

Yes you can do that too. Tagraz has built in modules to under clock and under volt. Just be careful. Undervolting too much can cause reboots.

Kernel results 4.2.1

I been using the illusion ROM with ask stars kernel and it' was running great! Awesome performance with decent battery life. 8 to 9 hours with have usage. I'm now experimenting with ktoonz and lean kernel. As well as trying different settings governors and schedulers. Of anyone has any info tips screenshots or suggestions to improve battery life without sacrificing to much performance please post and share your battery life and settings thank you.

That's how it should be but in reality it's not. Sammy roms have much better battery life but then again that could just be because there are better power and memory management features on stock. It's the only reason I've been reverting back to stock since almost every other cm10.1 based roms have ridiculously weak battery life.

that's kinda weird because on mine the battery on stock sucks but on cm10.1 it lasts a lot more so i was thinking the same for note2
Not really. Battery life is awesome at is on stock. You could flash some kernel like Perseus and do some undervolting or even underclocking to
squeeze more battery out of it though.
Battery life, I've found it to be more or less the same, if not marginally better on stock.
@bushako - How's battery life on MIUI mate? Heard it drains battery more than other stock based ROMs?
So what is better i hear different story's haha

I actually ended up going back to stock based Rom. The battery life wasn't as bad as I had thought, it got me about 6hours screen time. Don't get me wrong MIUI really looks gorgeous but at the expense of performance, especially at this stage since there's quite a few bugs that needs ironing out and also because MIUI and xposed framework use the same setup they are incompatible and I'm use to lower DPI. I might get back with signs of improvements.
Also, I found that Perseus kernel is not compatible with aosp and that so far the one that does work is neak and redpill.

Lower dpi means better battery life or drain the battery?
Android revolution
Android revolution rom is stock rom but all the things which causes lag are removed and u still get amazing battery too...

With the same app installed and same setting on my daily use. I can tell you that sotmax v6 and v7 absolutely brilliant interms of battery life performance.
Wit 3g full time on. My battery able to last longer at least 22hours++ with 6.5hours screen on time.
I can show you the photo as I captured previously.

Romow really have very good battery life.

which is a better toolchain ???

Linaro
Sabermod
i m look at
performance
battery life
graphic performance (this is one thing i m looking at mainly but that is without affecting the performance of cpu n the battery life by a huge margin)
i have already build Carbon with Sabermod pretty happy with the performance but i wanna work out more on GPU performance boost
bump
I would say sabermod with JustArchis optimisation. Cause its quite faster and smoother plus the errors you get would be minimal comparing with linaro.
If you still have room for maintaining one more rom i would like to see revolution rom and pure aosp rom with sabermod+JustArchis optimisation for our device.
