Alright finally got through all the bs and reading and crap....And now this I put my sim into the phone and it cannot register or even get a siganal granted my place I normally only get 2 bars so this is why I wanted wifi calling but When im outside with the phone it just wont reigster to tmobile....I am thinking of flashing back to stock rom and see if I can get a signal
Currently I am running JediMaster_12_MB4 on the phone
So my next option willl be to convert back to oem to see if this works....
Then maybe try this rom here and see if that works
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2026569
But if anyone has any ideas Im open to them before I start flashing this thing lol
Did you verify your APN Settings ?
The rom may not contain the one you need.
Verify by going into the "everything" thread in the development section and comparing your current APN to the one listed there.
Also, is your modem correct?
It can be verified there also....g
Sounds to me you may have a modem or apn related issue..like the user stated above me said....id try another modem, but clear cache/davik cache first..then install modem and reboot...try that first
I downloaded the tmobile modem can I flash it with cwm right? I got it from the teshxx thread I did check my apn settings. Since mine doesnt get 4g around here I am using what I have been using on my note one i717 epc.tmobile.com everything else is the same.
I was reading when flashing a modem from tmobile it gives an invalid imei.
I317UCAMA I guess thats the modem I am on I read other were able to use the att modems fine though...
Thanks for the input hopefully I can get this thing working tonite
Anyone else flash a tmobile modem on thier i317 without any trouble if so which one and how?
Thanks in advance
You can't flash a T-Mobile modem to an AT&T Note 2 because the partition sizes are different. What you can do, however, is apply the AWS mod to enable T-Mobile's HSPA+, on top of an AT&T modem (You have to flash an AT&T modem first, then do the mod. If you flash another modem after, you have to reapply the mod, even if you reflash the same modem). It will then work exactly like a T-Mobile Note 2. That's what I'm doing.
Here's the AWS mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068041
If you want a YouTube video on how to do it (it takes 5 minutes), watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7gMO_kRxyM&playnext=1&list=PLxxZcX9GkwxdviL8KU6LZ8xW-bX7gkHr4
As for Wifi-calling, that's a ROM feature. There's a T-Mobile ROM for the AT&T Note 2 available in the Android Development section.
-----
If your phone actually won't register at all, and there's signal on another phone, then your phone might be marked as lost/stolen. Call up T-Mobile and give them the IMEI to check.

Hello everyone I have a s3 and I'm using it it with mobilicity provider. Every time I turn the phone off it takes like 5 mins to register to network? Does anyone know why. My friend note 2 register right away. Does s3 have bad radio?

Anyone??
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
I don't think the radio has anything to do with it. What kind of connection are you getting when it registers?
My unicorn died, back on the pony.
Let us know not just what it says in the status bar when it finally registers, but also, after booting up, go to Settings > About Device > Status and post what it says for Mobile Network Type, both before and after it connects.
Also, please post info about what firmware you are running. Are you rooted? Custom Rom? Have you flashed any kernels or modems? Did you try wiping Dalvik and Cache from recovery? Try factory reset?
I would normally agree with Vopezy about the modem, but in your case, I have to wonder about it since you are on a carrier that usually has the T999V model phone. If you want to give it a shot, you could try to flash one of the Mobilicity modems.
First go to Settings > About Device and write down your current baseband, in case you need to flash back to it.
You can find the T999V modems at the bottom of the OP in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880987
Just to be clear, I dont usually recommend flashing a different models modem. Usually this is because in most cases it simply wont even establish a connection. (most times its a T999V user wanting to flash a T999 modem, but staying on their own network) As best as I have been able to tell, the T999 and T999V are virtually identical. I do know the modem partitions are the same, which is why you can flash the modem, it won't brick your phone, but it just may not work, forcing you to flash back to the original.
Because they are practically the same phone, and from what Ive read, T999 modems don't work on canadian networks, it seems logical that the T999 phone would have problems....unless it had a T999V modem. I hope that makes sense, I want to try to help you understand what you are doing and why.
If that does not work, or you want to try something else first, you could try swapping SIM cards with someone on the same network as you. If their SIM works fine in your GS3, or your SIM works in their phone, then its most likely either a SIM or account issue. If their SIM does not work on your phone, but yours does work on theirs, then its either SW or HW and not an account issue.
Something else you can try is flashing some of the other T999 modems, and/or try flashing the stock firmware via Odin. This would only help if there was something corrupted in the system partition that was causing your problem. Possible, but not probable.
As a last resort, and this would require a bit more work to pull off, you could try to flash the Mobilicity Firmware using Odin. (Or if I have the time I can try to build a quick rom out of the firmware so it can be flashed in recovery...this would be safer)
Either way, if it comes to that, please do not try to Odin flash the fw on your own. It will almost certainly fail. I will probably need to modify something to make it work.
The more I think about it, the more I am leaning towards trying the Mobilicity modem. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns about doing any of this.
Sorry its so much at once. Ill probably be logging off soon, so wanted to leave you with more than one thing to try until Im back on.
Good Luck!!!
Thanks a lot it worked so it's a sim card issue cause mobilicity have new Micro sim cards and I had the older one and I was activating a customer today and tried her sim on my phone and it registered right away. Thanks

Please bear with me on this one...
I'm on vacation atm in Mexico. I called Tmo before I left, and asked them whether I could use my phone while roaming as they boast about with their free data and texting international advertisements... The nice but confused lady told me that it would work fine, and then proceeded to tell me I should unlock my phone and use wifi calling to make things free/cheaper. She told me that data and texting would work and would be free. I also agreed to have her send me an email with instructions how to unlock the phones we had... Then I go on vacation.
It's important to note that Before I left, I also installed CM and CWM so i'd have something to tinker with while on vacation. This seemed to be my only mistake. While on vacation I notice I can't make any connectivity to the cell sites and/or use data nor text nor make calls at the $.20 rate. So I again contact Tmo via their live support and learn this:
I'm on a grandfathered 'contract' plan and I can't actually benefit from free data nor texts... and that data will cost me 15$ a Mb and texts are $.50 each as well as voice being around $1.80 a min. This being the most rediculous thing I've ever heard tell them to not enable international abilitys and proceed to get a TelCel sim card to use a cheaper and considerably cheaper service that will have a local phone number.
Having the email with the Tmo unlock codes I put the sim in and try to unlock. I can't unlock my S3 and contact Tmo again to learn that if I fail enough attempts that the phone will lock itself and be unable to unlock, without knowing this I tried it several times in the TelCel office and afterwards a few times with support before they told me... because CM doesn't have the Tmo applications to talk to the service provider to actually unlock the phone... I learn from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2023709&highlight=recording That you must be on a stock rom, or a rom derived from the stock updates in order to unlock your phone...
I don't want to go back to stock because that will erase CWM and my CM rom and since i'm on vacation without my computer I want to just flash a stock derived rom; I noticed that people on that thread had luck unlocking their phone with the Frosty rom(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874063) however after looking for it the link to the most recent download is broken and I'm not sure what other rom to use... Since i'm using an ASOP rom right now I can't unlock nor use my new mexican sim, and I would like any stock derived rom that would suffice without removing my CWM so I can revert back to the backup CM I want to create... What options do i have? The smaller the better...
Thanks, I'm tired and desperate...
I'm assuming you have the T999 model right?
Just about any stock based Rom will do, as long as it has the stock dialer. The key to this is the modem. You cannot be on baseband MD5 or MJ4. It MUST be an earlier one. LJC would work fine.
So check your baseband and if it's one of those two, flash the modem. Otherwise try grabbing S3rx Rom.
Do a nandroid back up.
Flash Rom.
Unlock.
Restore nandroid.

Few Points you should know.
1. In order to successfully unlock, your phone has be registered to T-Mo Tower with T-Mo Sim card. Otherwise the Unlock code will not work. I have repeatedly tested this theory on variety of devices and with several T-Mo Tech Help. It has been confirmed.
2. Once the Phone gets LOCKED after repeated attempts, you need a Personal ID Number that's unique to your phone. Its assigned by the carrier upon activation. It is also commonly referred to as PUK Code. If at this time your phone is actually locked and no longer accepting that Unlock code, its time to get your PUK Code from T-Mo. If you mess with that code or enter incorrect PUK Code then the phone will be hard locked to T-Mo with absolutely no chance of unlock.
3. To your present Dilemma, I'd take a nandroid, use Root66 Rom from Doc's Signature, then try to unlock. ( If it works great if not then I wouldn't attempt too many times. ) Once unlocked, restore your Nandroid.
Just to make sure, being safe...
Thank you both for the help, There is lots of good information here, however I've a few more questions...

I'm using a T999 aye, and I'm on baseband LJA so based on what you said it should work fine... I'm also downloading the S3rx rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2326763 Which the new version says: S3Rx T-Mobile T999 UVDMD5 TW 4.1.2 Premium Suite, which I'm assuming is based off of MD5 which you said I should stay away from... - does this not matter because I'm not flashing the modem? Will this still work fine?
I also tried going with what Perseus71 said, going with the Root66 rom that Doc had in his sig, however it was in .tar.md5 format for Odin which I can't really use right now being on a shared computer. I would need it in .zip format to use in CWM nandroid which I am unable to find one. I made a nandroid backup of my current OS build and it should be fine, and I am going to try the S3rx .zip once it downloads on this super slow internet I have access to. I'm not sure about mobile odin however I read and fear that if i try it, it will erase my SDcard with my backups on it, and overwrite my CWM being unable to return to the nandroid backup I made.
Will that S3rx work to unlock from the provided .zip? or MUST I use Odin or mobile Odin?
Thank you two, I really appreciate your help...
Md5 is fine if it's just the Rom. Flash the md5 modem and you can't unlock.
I love Mobile Odin personally! Just read up.on chainfires thread for it and you'll be fine. But just flashing the Rom will work too.

It worked like a charm!
I used that S3rx rom, put the unlock code provided by Tmo and presto! Worked great, thanks for the help!
One happy camper now~ or Vacationer... ;p
Thanks DocHoliday77 you're the man, and thanks for the other unlock info Perseus71!
I appreciate the help!
Anytime! Glad I could help! Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

I have recently acquired a Sprint SGS3 SPH-L710. It was still original stock at 4.4.2, never rooted. i flashed the n2j stock rom through odin, and then I had it flashed from Sprint to PagePlus and it is working okay (still need to get 3g going) Then used cm-autoroot and installed twrp (debating on installing philz). Now the phone is ready for some rom action.
My question is since this phone is a d2spr, but flashed to PagePlus (Verizon), would it be safe or better to install a d2vzn rom vs d2spr rom?
From my research, there are settings in the roms that are molded to a specific carrier. If I am on Verizon, I do not want to install and have Sprint related settings (buildprop?) and apps, etc. Then flashing a Sprint SGS3 to Pageplus vs a Verizon SGS3, Sprint must be set to NV only, and other posts and forums (on xda and howards), I have read said this nv setting could be changed when flashing a rom, which would break the PagePlus flash. But if I install a d2vzw rom, everything else would be molded to Verizon, which is great since I am using a Verizon network. I suppose it depends on how much molding is being done and what exactly. Then of course, I do not want to brick the device flashing the wrong version. If the roms were only listed as d2lte, I wouldnt mind as much, but I have noticed some roms do have a Sprint version and a Verizon version, but I can not locate the details to compare the differences.

I would still stick with what your phone is if d2spr flash the d2spr here is a thread that looks like some stuff you will want to try prl apns mms
http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...te-3-page-plus-selectel-flashing-real-3g.html
Flashing a d2vzw build will not trick the phone to think it is a vzw phone just more chances of you ending up with a brick.

I am now having a problem updating the APN in any 5.x rom, says not enough permissions. I tried a handful of APN apps on Google play, made them system apps, etc. it never saves or changes the apn settings. I can change and save APN in KK roms just fine though.
Did you try on WiFi it could be cause not picking up data connection
This is why I stopped flashing cdma phones to alternate carriers I had a epic4g on cricket pita if I didn't have the apn fix

I hear you and agree 100% with flashing to alternate carriers. I would not normally do this myself, but considering I got this cell for free a couple weeks ago, I figured I might as well deal with the hassle and make the best of it.
The only problem is that I still haven't found a 100% fix. I been flashing 4.4.x roms and 5.1.1 roms trying various APN settings, apps, changes, tips, etc. Nothing seems to stick or crash when attempting to change it. Trust me I been digging all over Google, XDA, and other various droid forums.
My carrier is PagePlus/vzw, and I can not find a PagePlus APN flashable file, hmm maybe I can come across a generic Vzw one, otherwise I know the settings to put in to create a new one though. This is why I was inquirying on flashing a Verizon S3 rom in the first place. Hopefully I can come across something soon.
When I get off work I'll try to help you out

Ive done a lot of reading in regards to this. almost every place I read says other roms should flash on device not of those carriers. reason im investigating this is because CM for sprint has all the sms issues. and after reading through all the tmo roms im not seeing anyone mention sms issues. every time I try to flash another carriers rom it reads that they are carrier specific and fail. is there a way I can make another carriers rom flash to sprint. my device is unlocked, though im using a sprint sim for lte and from what im reading also, its just a matter of an apn setting for sprint, and/or a radio flash for sprint. anyways, comments?

I wouldn't flash another carriers roms. it can make your phone brick and just a paper weight. other carriers have different settings and files that our phone doesn't..i don't know how to explain it better but I don't recommend it

That is kind of unfortunate if that's the case that SMS doesn't work right out of the gate on Sprint CM ROM's then. While I have gotten used to it, it does get annoying after a while having to reconfigure using the *#*#4636#*#* method every time.
I have tried to flash a few other carrier based ROMs via TWRP but they typically fail anyways (which is probably a good thing). I don't think I've ever actually successfully flashed another carrier based ROM through TWRP.

You can't just flash a tmobile rom on this device. It sounds like to me you need to get your phone unlocked to use tmobile sim. I would suggest http://www.idoneapps.com to sim unlock your phone.
I have no idea what you mean by password screen. What firmware are you on? How did you root your phone? Did you turn off reactivation lock?
I can try to help you but i need to know more detail of your problem. And do understand I'm limited on time i spend here. I'll check back when i can.

My insurance has sent me me a brand new unlocked note 10 plus when I am on att. I'd like to flash to att firmware to regain some functionality . I do have a provisioned att sim and IMEI. If someone can walk me through it and answer my questions I would love to tip you or donate to xda, whichever is preferred. I tried searching but there is a lot of info to wad through and I want to make sure I'm on the latest version as well.
In addition to how to do this, I was wondering how do future updates work? Would those have to be manual as well?

You have a few different threads on this, it would be helpful to keep your posts on this in one thread.
The way to use Odin and flash firmware is the same as the link below. The only difference is the firmware you will be using (for that you will need to look for the correct one, but your getting help on that in another thread I saw).
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80074891&postcount=1
And when adding files to the correct spots it's not that hard really. When you download the firmware and extract it you will find individual files that start with letters like "AP" "BL" "CP" "CSC"... you just put those in the correct spots in odin. Just be sure to do a factory data reset before and after flashing the firmware. Doing the FDR before will remove the FRP lock. Doing the FDR after will ensure that things run smoothly and that you will be able to download OTA updates.
The appdata will be the harder one to find, you may need to ask if someone can post that here on the forum.
But let me ask... Is this because you don't have things like VoLTE, WiFi calling, etc? If this is the case then this won't work. AT&T uses an IMEI whitelist that allows only phones that they have sold to be provisioned for those features. Unless your phone is one that is on that whitelist then you will not be able to get those features.
Some people have tried using an old AT&T phone, activating it and then swapping the sim (or something similar)... But this doesn't always work or it doesn't work for very long. I have spent a lot of time on the phone with AT&T over this subject, and they won't budge one bit.
