Battery drain - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I go to school with my GNex and occasionally look at the screen at times but I think my battery drain is in called for. I started school at 8 and came home at 4 and I'm at 67%. I even have the 3850nah hyperion battery installed. Right now I'm running xylim ROM nightlies with ask kernel skl 225

After you reflash ROMs, do you use some restore program such as Titanium Backup?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

Nope I let Google do all the work

Might be an app keeping it awake
edit: use wakelock detector from market to check

Use wakelock detector from the play store to find out which app is keeping your phone awake.

Since you already have Better Battery Stats installed you could just have a look at the list of partial wake locks (click on 'other').
And you should also check whether or not your 3rd party battery actually has 3850mah. I just did a quick search but there seems to be some scam going on with hyperion batteries (it was a really quick search).

go to settings/ backup and restore/ uncheck backup
What does it back up anyways?
It looks like it backs up important stuff...
Isn't there a way to just fix the wakelock issue and keep the backup?
So no one knows what it does? What it backs up exactly? I like my google contacts...
Just ran into this issue today. Solved with reset (did it twice for the hell of it).

rogue app finder

Is there any app that will tell me if there is any rogue apps and what they are? Hopefully something easy to use.
Try Better Battery Stats. There is a free version on xda.
You can use Watchdog from the play store (the one with the red/orange circle and the shadow like dog head) to find anything eating up your cpu.
Sent from my Garnet Red Samsung Galaxy S3.
You can try carat, it will take about a week or so to gathering information but once it starts working, it should tell u which apps are eating at your battery life

GSam Battery Monitor is also good for seeing the resources that each app uses.

Something is eating my battery

Hi everyone,
I got my Nexus 7, so I thought I could ease on the HOX a bit, but I found that something is still running rampant in the backgroundm but I can't find what it is, even using GSam Battery Monitor. Screen has only been on for 25 minutes, and already at 43%!
I used the HOX as mobile hotspot this morning in the train, when I arrived at work, it had 80% left. Rest of the day I only used it for the occasional whatsapp. It's not even closing time for work now, and it's close to 40%, so something is eating the battery, but I can;t find what!
See enclosed screenshots, I would love to hear some advice!
Kernel, but who knows why?
Also, your crappy mobile signal on the way to work when you had no WiFi... It didn't like that much.
yeah I can get into that, but I don't get why, at the last part, the screen isn't turned on, but it the kernel is switched on ALL the time, I guess something must be running rampant in the background. I've just started going to apps and force stopping a lot of things to be sure...
Try using watchdog, it tells you which app which above threshold, gsam never tells u what the kernel was upto. U can also try better battery stats and check kernel wake locks.
ViperX Goodness
Thanks, I hadn't heard of watchdog yet, installed it! I will buy better battery stats when things get really out of hand

better battery stats is available for free at XDA for members only.
Search and you will find it.
btw which rom and kernel??
Are you using a career branded phone. Change the radio. Problem solved

I use everything stock, and my HOX is unbranded

Does your freq stay always at 1500? Check it via setcpu or CPU tweaker. Check the time of state.

We already get pretty good battery life, up to 2 days with moderate usage... You're not going to get much more out of it...
I wont make t 1 day with my batgery....

I assume you mean battery...
How do you know? What do you do with the device that will use all its power so quickly? Mine is averaging 2 days on a single charge with moderate use; there's no reason why anyone else can't manage that.
Besides, all those so called "battery saver" apps are just placebo's anyway; much like memory saver apps are.
Idk man. I tweet alot. and my 3g sucks battery... 2g isnt an option either....
I know battery savers are fake. I got no such thing like that running.
I think it is because everytime i check what apps are running, some apps are open which i didnt open myself at all...

It doesn't sound like you have any idea what the op is asking about.
Better battery stats is one of the best programs for tracking down what programs are triggering wake locks and bleeding your battery.
Using it i found a few programs which had hidden refresh settings set annoyingly high.

In maps, you can go into settings/locations, and uncheck all that stuff that lets google monitor your location while you're phone sleeps, this resolved my maps wake lock issue, not sure about the SMS one.

Tap the little orange icon to the right. It will take you to the browser and explain what power manager is. It's likely due to push notifications. You can check what's doing this under partial wakelocks.

Do you have active monitoring enabled in better battery stats? When I had that turned on, that was giving me the most wakelocks due to power manager service.

How ironic would it be if Better Battery Stats was the cause of worse battery life lol... but anyways I did what Luigi suggested and got this:

BBS doesn't consume much battery at all compared to others, unless of course if you have the app actively monitoring but the option should be Unchecked by default.
Also, as the page to the link states, in order to resolve any of the wakelocks causing the PowerManagerService issue you must "Use "Partial Wakelocks" to drill down the applications / services causing wakelocks".
