So I made the mistake of removing root access via the app Super SU, and am stuck on Liquid Smooth rom. I've tried to get rooted again to no avail. I used Team Wins rooting method with Odin and cwm recovery.
Also, until I return to the stock sprint GS3 rom, I cannot use my phone as a cell phone with cricket and thus have a very tiny tablet.
Does anybody know how I could regain root access or just return to the stock rom (which I presume requires root)? Please and thank you.
Just reflash your ROM in recovery.

I think you mean it's Stock Recovery. If it were CWM, you would be able to reflash your Rom (follow my linked instructions).
If it's the stock recovery, you should follow the Rooting Guide to get a custom Recovery back (CWM or TWRP, your choice).

Alright that worked, and now I'm on CM 10.1. Once I have PC access, what's the best route to putting myself on the OEM stock rom? I need to be stock so I can flash my phone to cricket. Also, once activated on cricket, could I flash over to another ROM without messing up my service?

Freeza has the stock rooted Rom over in his Thread. I don't know if Deodex vs. Odex matters when flashing to Cricket, so try each.
I'm personally really unfamiliar with the intricacies of flashing across carriers, so I'll have to let someone else answer your question about flashing other Roms once you get it working on Cricket. The only advice I'd be able to give is the following:
Once you get it up and running on Cricket, make a Nandroid Backup in your Custom Recovery.
Try out different Roms!
If one messes up the connection to the Cricket network, restore your backup.
Rinse and Repeat.
Most importantly: enjoy yourself!
Flashing to cricket wont prevent you from flashing custom roms
Think about it like this, you dont lose your phone number between flashes, do you?
But of course, ALWAYS have a backup handy in case anything goes wrong
Wow, tbanks everybdy. I'm on stock fw (rooted) and will post when flashed to cricket. I appreciate ghe help, without it I'd he stuck on a dumbphone.

I've only been on Verizon and Sprint, so I haven't had any experience with other carriers. Is there any resource out there which states which carriers are CDMA and which are GSM and which are (relatively) interchangeable in terms of phones?

I know Verizon, Sprint, Cricket, Metro PCS and Boost all use CDMA. Though there are limitations. Verizon wi ll only let you use Verizon branded devices on their network, as does Boost. I don't know about Sprint, but Cricket and Metro should allow any compatible devices.
AT&T and Tmobile use GSM and only about their own as far as I know. Though you can use international on AT&T and Tmobile's prepaid service.
Data goes the same as far as I know, though all 4g is LTE now.

Well I've been reading about rooting and installing roms on the galaxy note 2 for about 2 weeks now. However, I have the t889v wind mobile variant. which as I have read has a lot of problems attached to it. I don't understand why or how but all I know is that its there. The rooting process as someone explained it to me doesn't seem hard and too different from the t889 version.
But the problems arise in that you install a rom and you run the chance of losing your imei. you have to flash a modem which i hear gives some phones bootloop problems and some not. I also read that the roms have a problem running on the t899v.
Well i guess my question is that, is this a problem that occurs on every t889v or is it just some. If it is only some than what did you guys do wrong? and what are the steps to fix it. Because I really wan't multi-window feature and I don't know how long it will take Wind mobile to push out their updates I'm assuming close to never lol. Therefore I'm more reliant on Roms and rooting but I don't wan't it to the expense of rendering my phone useless.

You should be ok with either CWM update zip ROMs or Odin flashable ones that don't include the modem.bin image in their tar file. For those ROMs that do include the modem image, you can repack the ROM to keep only the system and boot.img, (Cygwin's tar binary works well for this.)
As has been said before, flashing modems can get ugly if you make but one mistake.

thanks for the replys but, by modem you speak of the t889v modem that has been posted on the developers page that said for canadian users to flash

They become slow because its using the tmobile modem, and if you flash the t899v modem available it will make your phone go into a reboot loop (Happened to two of my note 2), and im not sure if you can get the modem form your stock rom right now

well that's a shame if only there was a way i could just extract my modem and use it...I guess i'll just wait till more brilliant minds fix it. As waiting for wind to update is highly unlikely.
Actually rooting is really easy.
Download the toolkit.
Takes like 2 minutes.
Then you can use some very useful apps like titanium backup / adfree, etc.
Recovery is also useful.
You can use custom roms too. See details here:

Not too long ago I was on the same boat. I was pissed off when I got my gn2 with wind only to find out there is very little support for it. I read some horrible stories on xda but I can personaly say I didnt lose my imei or bootloop. I used the toolkit to root and then flashed jedi x14. With this particular rom you select the option to retain your modem so you will not be flashing any modems. This is the only rom I am willing to vouch for as I have not tested other ones. Make sure you flash twrp recovery and backup your rom with efs modem and everything before flashing anything. Always wipe before flashing and follow OP. I have not noticed my phone being slower but then again I never bothered checking my speed when my phone was stock either. Good luck

We have an AT&T device however it does not install any of the rogers applications. The AT&T apps are completely useless to us as the device is unlocked and in Canada. I am going to have to root and then install the other firmware I assume. Can someone point me to the download.

Yep, I've never tried it but I have tried the other one I listed and its a great ROM. Since I'm not sure if he wants just a blank slate or a custom ROM I linked both.
I forgot to mention to flash the VLDLK4 modem is going custom ROM.
I would like to load the Rogers rom to the phone..... its the easiest place to start for me. Once that is done then I can root the phone and load AOKP or CM.... Do I have to root before loading rogers rom or can i just use odin? If I load the Rogers ROM does that remove all the AT&T stuff?

hold on dude. is your s3 running the stock at&t firmware now? if so, you dont need to flash the rogers firmware onto it just to go ahead and flash an aokp/cm rom over it again. just think about what firmware/rom you would prefer running on your device and go from there. custom or stock?
If you just want something completely custom in the vein of aokp or cm then just root or flash rogers prerooted in Odin to avoid tripping flash counter and then install custom recovery.
Never saw if you were rooted already. If so just flash an at&t custom ROM and use rogers APN.

Flash the rooted stock image, AT&T or Rogers, it doesn't matter, and follow the instructions to get a recovery on:

Then follow whatever the ROM thread says for whatever you're flashing, and flash it, then last flash a Roger's modem from here:

I want to flash back to stock rom 4.1(cant recall if 4.1.1 is the newest one or not) in a similar manner to how I flash to custom roms such as:
MAKE A NANDROID
Boot into recovery
Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache
Flash ROM
Reboot
I'm currently on PA ROM stable. So here are my questions
1) Can I flash like this instead of going through ODIN and losing root etc
2) Can I keep my root and flashing this like a custom rom, but in actuality a stock rom
3) If this is possible can ATT stock rom work on Roger's i747m, i suspect it would as long as i dont touch the modem. Not sure if there will be LTE issues.
I couldnt find anything on XDA or google, it seems that all stock revert it to original setting and no root.
Thanks

It's just that I noticed this part of the forum referred to AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus, I wondered if they would be interchangeable.
A lot of the ROMs out there like CM10 and AOKP support ATT but can be ran on canadian i747m's, so thats why I was wondering if ATT stock can run ok on i747ms
EDIT: in beerdroid's link he did enter "**WARNING!** All information and attached links are for the I747 and I747M ONLY!"........so I'm going to assume that the ATT stock rom can run on i747m's without issue.

Either way, always safer to go with your carrier's.

Typically, if you flash an att modem on a Canadian phone it will destroy the imei. I would think that the same would be true for Canadian modems on Att s3's.

Ill admit that Im not the best at this, but Im not too new to rooting, roming, or flashing (so now you know I might be the reason). Out of all, I've never done anything like the Sprint Note 2 where flashing a ROM removes all phone info, IE. IMEI, Baseband Unknown.
I tried restoring EFS and Modem (which I backed up beforehand); manually installed modems; all to no avail. Basically I have to recover by starting from scratch using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2591898.
What am I missing?
Anyone? I really hate the stock.
Personally I prefer using this stock MC2 unrooted ROM with flash count reset. Found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086769
This will put you back at pre MK4 state as well as flash the modem. bootloader, etc. From there you can re root, flash Phil's recovery 6.07.9 and flash a custom ROM of your choice. This is how I would do this and IS how I do this from time to time. I never use the stock unrooted MK4 due to the KNOX crap.

So the process in which I done this would cause such affect? The MK4 I used did restore everything; recovery, modem, etc.
I used Odin to load TWRP 2.7 recovery (let it root), booted to recovery again and installed Dr Katan's MultiTool to remove Knox, and then updated SuperSU. This is where I stand now and it's operating fine, just hate the crap Sung put in there.
Is TWRP no good for L900? is Phil's Recovery the defacto or just your experience? Just curious if Im doing something wrong or?
My goal is to have vanilla as I can have it with the exception of WiFi tether and a radio that doesn't suck.

Read the L900 TRWP thread for the last 6 months...and you will see issue after issue...and 6 months later it is still not fixed according to users. Funny thing, is this only effects L900 Note 2 users. AFAIK no other Note2s or other devices are effected.
Either use a 2.6.* TWRP build to flash 4.1 ROMs, or use PhilZ for AOSP ROMs.
I just wanted to point out that since you are back on the stock MK4 ROM you will not be able to use the built-in WiFi hotspot unless you subscribe and pay for it. You can't flash the MK4 hotspot hack on your current stock odexed ROM. You will need to flash a stock rooted deodexed ROM that has hotspot hacked already or you will have to flash the mk4 hotspot hack for a deodexed stock ROM.
I'm saying this because you did point out in your previous post that you wanted to be able to use the hotspot feature. There may be another tether app that will work without root but I'm not aware of any.

I made a post about my experience loading a custom rom. I hope it is of some help to you. I believe I also started with MD4. What I think they did starting with MD4 (possibly a bit earlier) is they have a partition for the carrier/radio, and that gets wiped out when you load other roms, so you lose your radio. If you go back to LJ4 and then load the other roms, you might have more luck.

Although this area is for the i9300 s3 I would think installing a Verizon rom on a at&t phone is the cause of all your issues I would think.
Sounds like the efs may be corrupt. Either was this is the wrong section for you. Flashing anything here will brick it.
I will ask a mod to move it.
Also you need a rom zip to flash through CWM

So this is the right spot for it to be.
Look for a d2lte common CWM or a d2att version and you should be okay.
