[Q] Underclock with stock kernel ? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i know that it's not possible to undervolt without a custom kernel, but is it possible to underclock for example at 1300mhz with stock kernel and ROOT?
I'm with custom ROM / kernel and i get an uncredible battery life with undervolt (arround 9h screen on time) but i'm affraid of canceling the warranty with this stuff. I'm considering to go back stock ROM and buy an extended battery.

use root and apps setcpu (google play )

you need to make sure your using an oc kernel or you cant overclock ..... if you are just buy setcpu from the market .....
So I just need the OC Kernel? how bout the OpenDesire?

open desire has oc kernel, richardtrip just released an oc kernel for sence roms too here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801435, like i said just use setcpu,
Ok..So what I need is just a ROM manager to flash it right? then backup it before I flash it?
well it depends on which ROM you are running ,
>if you are running some non-sense roms like Open desire or Defrost ,
then you can use setcpu directly ,because it comes with overclocked kernel
>if are using sense ROMs like leedroid, Nextsense etc,
you need a overclocked kernel you can download it from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801915
flash the zip file in recovery mode , then use setcpu
i recommend you to reboot after overclocking ....
If I use OpenDesire rom how much Mhz can it increase after overclock?
That depends on the "quality" of your cpu
(the cpu is guaranteed to work at stock speed, anything higher is a guess, and may be cause of instability)
In case of a "bad" cpu you might be able to get it to ± 1050 Mhz
I've seen "lucky" people mentioning ± 118*Mhz (don't remember the actual number )
And don't forget it will put a extra drain on you battery.
This is something you could have found yourself by searching / reading the Developers sub-forum

my phone works well at 1118mhz, im just waiting for a kernel that will let me oc it abit more
i tested my desire with opendesire-4.33 you can safely overclock your cpu to 1190mhz using setcpu ,,and remember it drains your battery like hell,, set your scaling to on-demand mode.

How to overclock my arc s

Depends on the rom you use, because JB (ported) roms use a specific kernel, ICS an other one, GB an other.
So once you flash the right kernel(every custom kernel usually have OC, but u can read in the thread to be sure) , you can install No frills Cpu from market and set the cpu as you prefer. its really easy
Lupus and then setcpu or no frills cpu control
SETcpu or CPU master on android market should do the job
Most of the custom kernels have overclocking feature. But it can damage your hardware. You can use setcpu or no frills CPU to overclock your phone.
any overlocking can damage your HW use at own risk!
aaaand what profile is best for normal use ?

[Q] Questions of Perseus Kernel on the N7100..

Hi,
I'm having a international Galaxy Note II GT-N7100 model and have currently 4.1.1 installed and rooted using ODIN method.
Build Number JRO03C.N7100XXALJ1. Baseband Version : N7100DXALIA. Kernel Version : 3.0.36-Perseus-alpha31.
I have installed the Perseus Kernel as shown in this thread. (Perseus-alpha31.2-n7100-CWM.zip).
1. It boosts the max cpu speed to 1800MHz. Will this decrease the CPU life in the long run? (This might be too early to comment though, taking into account the recent availability of this device, yes?)
2. Does anyone have a data on the battery drainage comparison (between this Perseus and Stock kernels)?
3. Where can I get the Stock 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 Kernels alone?
4. How to revert back to the stock kernel? Do I have to flash the complete stock rom? Or restoring from backup will do?
5. Can I bring back the max cpu speed down to 1600MHz using this Perseus Kernel?
Thanks for any information.

1. Yes it boost the cpu.. no it will not decrease cpu life WITH PROPER UNDERVOLTING in Stweaks
2.sorry I dont have data to show you but as ive experience ..my battery life increased... WITH PROPER UNDERVOLTING AGAIN in stweaks
3. Search the web
4.you can flash it and backup will also work
5. The maximum is 1600mhz in default .. you can overclock and underxloxk uaing STWEAKS
..
By the way STWEAKS is included when you flash perseus.. this is where you set what you want
n7100
omega rom v10 perseus kernel 31
hit thanks its free anyway

Thanks. What is the appropriate voltage (undervoltage) to be set for the stock 1600MHz speed? Is it the default value provided in the stweaks under CPU tab?
Thanks again.

[Q] Will SetCpu, SD-Booster works for stock rom / kernel?

I've just rooted my SGW 2 days ago (yayyy!) . At this point I've just wanted to root my phone, and while reading a post elsewhere about apps for rooted phone,
I'm curious about SetCpu, and SD-Booster.
I've been searching about these apps in this SGW forum, and I've seen people suggesting it, but that is on the custom roms / kernel. So, let say I'm
changing the cache size to 2048 kb or setting the max / min MHz, will it have any effect on my stock rom ?
Should I use this app only after I flash a different roms / kernel? Btw, I haven't got any issues with the stock setting. Just. Curious. Any advise is deeply appreciated .
Hey. it WORKs bro
if you have rooted stock you can setCPU clock, and SD-Booster
5 month ago i use stock and make some mod. like use init.D script, setCPU (govenor,I/O,clock) and SD speed
but now i never use stock anymore, LOVE MIUI :victory:
note :
When you setCPU clock never set higher than 1.4GHz / you will burning your phone

Kernel for stock kitkat 4.4.2?

Hi all, today I unlocked boot loader and rooted my nexus 7 2013 WiFi. At the moment I am sticking to stock ROM until I get more internet data from my ISP then I can flash a custom ROM.
Anyway what kernel would you recommended for stock KitKat 4.4.2 ROM in the mean time, or is it not worth changing and I'm better just waiting to flash custom ROM+kernel?
I was hoping for a more performance based one and would like to overclock both CPU and GPU, of course performance+battery contradict each other but if I could also have good-very good battery life and faster performance then even better.
Also what apps are you using for over clocking CPU/GPU?
Please suggest thanks

Best ROM/kernel threads are frowned upon at XDA.
As far as overclocking app, I use Tasker. I use it for setting the kernel tunables also.
kernel
I use elementalx with stock. Great performance and battery life.
