Hello, I have just got SetCPU 3.0.9. I set my voltages then clicked "apply" it then said unfortunately, SetCPU has stopped. I have tried many times and it will not work. Please help!
mind if i ask why you're using setCPU when you have ktoonsez kernel/KTweaker app installed? i make my freq and voltage adjustments there

I heard setCPU is the best.
i'm sorry i dont have any setCPU advise to offer other than possibly uninstalling/reinstalling it. i'll check into it though.
imo, the software included by the same dude that built the kernel is the logical choice for adjustments.
it has done everything i needed it to without any problems.
I have to agree with BeerDroid. If you're using KT's kernel, I would strongly recommend using Ktweaker to modify kernel settings (gov, scheduler, voltages, etc.)

One question, how do you save the settings on boot manually? I don't like how it sets it after a certain amount of time.

You can have it to set on boot automatically, a timing of your choice, or not at all. It's in the main UI labeled "set options on boot."

After being a loyal setcpu user for multiple years, I found that system tuner pro is a much better app.

Its best to apply after system boots up, than alter init.d scripts. This way, I'm case of any malfunction (as in too much undervolting), deleting the app using adb is sufficient.

I hate how you have to drag it.
It won't apply. I have a feeling that KT747 is causing the issue. Every system tweaker I tried would not apply.
Do you guys suggest re-installing KT747?

It may help. Also, be sure to make sure you don't have another kernel tweaking app trying to make changes as well. If you have multiple apps trying to run settings you could run into issues. What exactly do you mean when you say that they wont apply?

In SetCPU (don't have anymore) when I pressed apply on voltages, it stopped working. With KTweaker, I press apply then go back. If I go back in, the voltages are back to defaults.
Found several issues. Apparently, my phone was not rooted properly. When installing, it asked to root, I said yes. Now I also noticed the new splash screen. Hopefully it works.

I keep hearing people say they uv -xx number to save battery, how do you do that?
You can check the kernel thread you installed from. Usually use echo command and point to vdd_table. If you don't understand what undervolting is, you may not want to do it. It can cause issues if you undervolt too much. It can save battery life, but i would suggest using setcpu, you can find a free copy on xda, and setting profiles, like screen off, in call, etc., to lower values. I would say, stay above 300MHz for min. and clock down the max. Min are: 384-540 for screen off; 384-540 for in call. also, with some roms, you can set the main value, on the first tab, to a lower figure in the max column. I don't charge my phone everyday anymore.
Thanks for the detailed info. But I heard there's an app that does uv?

Luckily, I do use Juggernaut.
I installed fauxclock but I don't see a way to under voltage? I only see the interface to set CPU clock. Am I missing something here?

Ah ha!!! I see!!! Thanks!!
I've used up my "thanks" for today but I'll definitely come back tomorrow.
What is the uv number I should generally set to save battery but not have the phone freeze?
If I set it to negative too much and the phone freezes, I just reboot the phone and re-set the number to a higher (less uv) value?
it's different from phone to phone, you just gotta try it out and see.. i UV mine about 100mv under stock at 1.51ghz

Mine can do 100 also
I can only go -62.5. Anything over that will freeze the phone...
How come every phone is different in this regard, does this mean my phone is "born" to consume more battery?
Thought I saw posted somewhere here not to use SetCpu on our phone? FauxClock always FC's on me. Running Jugs overclock on rooted/flashed T-Mo SGS2.
On doom's post, it says he undervolts, but in the changelog, it says he removed it.
Does this mean I cant undervolt on the DoomKernal?
And if I can, should I?
Doomkernel does provide a lot of advantages, and with SetCPU you'll be able to undervolt (I'm doing the same). But only do it if you actually know what you're doing.
I cant find the undervolt settings on SetCPU.
I tried downloading an undervolting app, but it says I am using a kernal that doesn't support undervolting.
This app works perfectly for undervolting my PLAY, OC/UV Beater2v1.7. IncrediControl also works I believe
when i undervolt even by .25 my phone just freezes. any ideas why?
sorry to hijack thread.

OK, so I have AOKP nightly build on my Galaxy Nexus GSM and I love it to pieces! But whenever I flash Trinity kernel, it boots and then a minute later, reboots again... I don't know why it does this since I did clear cache and dalvik cache whenever I flash something.
I did not try any other kernels yet.
Also I am starting to think that it's setCPU that is causing this problem... Or maybe because I try to overclock to 1.5 Ghz??????
If it boots and runs at 1200mhz but crashes any higher, the problem is likely to be your device, not the kernel. Not all devices are stable when over clocked, even a relatively small amount.

I understand what you're saying, but the thing is that when using stock kernel that comes with AOKP Nightly, I can overclock upto 1.8Ghz without any problem (I just oveclock to 1.4 though).
Whenever I flash to Trinity, it reboots when I try to overclock to 1.5Ghz. It came undervolted, so I did overvolt it about 100 and still no luck Do you think I need to factory reset, then flash?

Yup 8/10 Nightly and I had NO problem before flashing Trinity. And yes, I am aware of the reboots people say, but for some reason, I had no problem whatsoever with this ROM. Dunno why actually... Hopefully they update with more features though

Download the tkt app...
Disable smtflex mpu.. if it still rebooting, disable all 3 smartflex..
If you use the frequency under 1200mhz, you can use all smartflexs...
that's it!...

Yup, this has been already solved via Trickster Mod... Thanks though
ive been running ICS since i got my phone, the battery life was horrible until i fixed the power profile, but even after that my phone's battery was not that good. i decided to flash CM10, then i switched to AOKP, both of them are awesome, but i noticed that the battery wasnt that good either, i got the ktonnsez kernel. i tried other governors, they all stay at maximum (1512MHz) after about 5 minutes of a reboot. i tried basically everything, reflash every thing, wiped everything possible. I need help plz, i wanna enjoy my S3 without worrying about the battery dying.
its all normal when i start my phone, but after 5 minutes it just stays at maximum CPU...idk why plz help im on galaxy s3 ATT i747M...i searched everywhere but still didnt find the answer
If you flashed kt747 you need to use the ktweaker app that comes with the kernel. When you find this app you need to check the two boxes into general settings

Try a different governor. Personally I use on demand and noop for the scheduler.
Make sure you don't have any other overclocking programs which may be conflicting. I used to use SetCPU but with the toonz kernel I get Ktweaker. So I got rid of SetCPU.
Funny yours is locking at maximum. Mine used to lock at 96Mhz and run like crap. The above method worked for me. Don't forget to make sure your running the most updated kernel, wipe cache/dalvik/fix permissions.

Tyvm, i did what u told me and its working for now, i was using ktweaker the whole time, but i like to check my current speed in ROM control, idk why maybe cuz the numbers are bigger? ;P im still not sure if its going to work for a long time, i did a reflash yesterday, i charged my phone at 100 percent last night, and it was sitting on low frequency, when i woke up, i was suprised to see a 6% drop of the battery, leaving me 94% left. but the speed was at 1512. and cell standby was using most of the battery.

TY, ive tried switching governors before and it didnt work. But when i tried this morning, it worked... really strange.
Idk if it will last long, my phone likes to jump around from normal to maximum without me even touching the phone
Use ktweaker instead of the rom settings. Go to the performance section in settings and disable set on boot. Then, go to ktweaker and set as "apply settings immediately after boot". Once you're done, set to whatever you want it to be.

I undervolted my hox using the guide. Now I flashed another Rom after a full wipe. Now I wanted to know if the uv values have been reset or have to do it some other way.
I am having
Burning smell from the upside of device.
Secondly my device is rebooting after heat up although I am not playing game and its just soft browsing.

Open trickster mod and press menu then set on boot.
As for your other questions, burning smell will be from the over heating you're describing.
I would reflash kernel modules and boot.IMG and test again.
