[Q] some question about one x - HTC One X

hi i finnally decide to change my desire s and i'm thinking about the one x but i have some question:
1st does the battery with medium /high usage stand untill the evening?
2nd i heard about a method to have s-off on one x so this means (like my desire s) no losing warranty am i right? but i read this method works only with "HOX" what does it means? i don't find a post with s-off method is explained can someone link it to me?
last but not least: are you happy with this phone? ^^
thanks in advice for your comment i hope they are usefull for choosing my new phone!

1. On medium usage, yes.
2. There's no S-OFF available
I'm very happy with this phone, mainly because of the awesome developer community.
Sent from my IceCold One X

I find that my battery won't last all the way to the end of the evening even on medium usage using the stock kernel. Using the Bricked kernel helps a bunch for me and keeps me from having to plug in halfway through the day.

Should i buy ?

I am going to buy this phone. But is this a good phone ? How is the battery ? And i read on the net that the bootloader is locked so can we install custom roms root it ? how ? and the battery is not removable so if i hang the phone sometimes so how reboot if the keys doesnt work because battery is unremovable ?
Thanks (i am a noob )
Good phone, battery life is not bad, bootloader is locked but you can unlock it from HTCdev site but it may void your warranty and no S-OFF for now, how to root it, search and read and find out and on how to reboot just use the powerbutton at the top to reboot by long pressing it.
If you are going to buy this phone make your research. Do not wait for other people to do the work for you. There is a review thread exactly in the same place were you posted this thread, there is a battery stats thread were people post the battery life and talk about it so you could of jumped in there to find out more about battery. There is a thread by Hamdir regarding what to look out when going and buying your phone and checking what issues to have a look at when inspecting the phone before you buy it...Plus so many reviews over youtube you could look for. I might sound harsh but everyday it is the same freaking question with someone opening a thread and it ends up getting closed anyway. So do your research before buying something. Simple as that.

The version of the one x that is sold in the USA is coming to Europe so you might want to wait.

Don't buy it. I regret doing this mistake. I will NEVER buy any HTC phone again. I had Desire, Desire Z and now One X. They all were plagued by problems. One X has so many problems with the software and with hardware, it's not worth to buy it. I will try to bring it back and buy Galaxy S3. Samsung never failed me

Don't agree with this at all, the phone had some minor bugs when it was first released but they all seem to be fixed now....at least they are for me anyway!
The only thing I don't like is the way it handles multi tasking, not the GUI implemention which is cool and works better than most reviews make out, but the way it kills apps to quickly. I'm sure we'll be able to sort this out with a custom rom later on.
All in all its a great phone with excellent battery life, so long as you dont play too many games

I'm just wondering how come I didn't have all these thoughts? goodphone, battery, bootloader, screen, etc etc. I just loved the phone the moment I saw it.. it's like love at first sight.. probably u'l know if that's this is the one when you actually hold it.. more like a girl, you know if she's the one for u or not
just my 2 cents bro.. honest opinion.. u won't regret it. yes, sometimes it does make u think wuts wrong, but never it will let u down thinkin it's a bad investment.
hope it helps
Go for it. It's working perfect for one month and I didn't even apply any of three released software updates for not to miss possible s-off exploits.

well why do you think i am starting to get annoyed with the same thing everyday..read my post above. it says it all on how i feel about people opening threads like this. i do not blame the OP he just wants to know opinions but on the other hand he can get of his lazy behind and stop being spoonfed like a baby and do proper research.

ive got a one x, and i feel absolutely comfortable in telling you to forget the one x, and get the s3, especially as its out in a few days
im giving mine to the missus and getting a s3, on june the 7th when my other 3 contract is up
at best you will have to send your one x back for a swap, at worst you will send it back 4,5,6 times to find a perfect unit

[Q] To root or not to root that is the Question

I am seriously agonizing over whether or not to root my HOX, I have had a desire and rooted and flashed it to within an inch of its life and never had an issue, and its still going strong and running Shaky153's new ICS Sense rom.
My only concern is that I am unsure whether the HOX is as technically or physically robust as the Desire, and I keep getting the impression that it could breakdown at anytime, I'm not too bothered about physical damage as the phone is insured, but if it has to be returned to HTC I'm F*!£^%.
Please someone help me make this decision, should I root, if so why?
If not why?
Its totally up to you mate, but I will say that I had my HOX rooted a couple hours after purchasing it! And I love it!!
your decision mate...or wait for S-OFF..if you have a solid handset and no defects or issues with software then i would unlock it as by rooting this bad boy is the whole point of getting this phone. just do not forget about the bad stuff like voiding warranty though there is a couple of threads regarding this issue in the general section have a read through before unlocking...

I would wait for s-off. I'm not going to fiddle with mine until that is achieved. In the meantime, my desire will handle my flash addiction .

You do know that it voids warranty, right ??
If you just got it, then wait at least a week, test everything properly and make sure there aren't any hardware faults/manufacturing defects.
I have always rooted my devices after few hours of purchases. Except this one x. I actually cant wait to try custom roms and use root apps like i always do but sense 4 is beautiful and enough to keep me away from modifying it. So i think, i can wait for s-off. Plus, hearing the defects here and there, it would actually worth it to wait. I only have this device for 5 days so nothing to be rushed.

I would
It's totally up to you but I would root just for some root apps (completely remove system apps, etc.). You should always be able to unroot.

I'm starting to have withdrawals.....lol. My head is just going... I need to flash, I need to flash, and it's really getting hard not to be tempted and wait for S-OFF.
I wasn't planning to root but I'm tempted to now just for the sake of 2 things, the 3dot menu remover patch and the font changer.

hahaha. same here. I'm still new to the flashing rom even using android phones (Coming from iOS) and yet i took the risk of rooting it and applying custom roms. ARHD is the best!!!

[Q] Thinking about upgrading

Right now I have wildfire s for virgin mobile and I was wondering if anyone had upgraded to one v. First is one v that much of a better phone and how is the performance. Can anyone recommend that I upgrade and in your experience why ?
I'm so used to pulling battery when flashing on wildfire s that I was thinking what would I do with one v with it's sealed battery ? Is it hard to flash and any common bugs ?
Hope you guy's can give me some answers that will make me switch to one v.

It's not so hard to unlock, rooted and flash HTC One V...
You only have to read the tutorial carefully, or use the all in one tools by hasoon :good:

Research, Research, Research! It took me 3 months before I bit the bullet and purchased! Was really worth it! Jaw dropped when I saw the display!
(you have a lot of support if something goes wrong during the whole unlock bootloader, root process)
Battery Pull = Hold Power Button 10 sec.

[Q] Question about the battery

Hi all,
I currently have a Samsung GS3, but I've been thinking about moving over to the one x. I much prefer the design and general feel of the handset. The main thing that's bugging me is the battery, I understand it'll be a down step from the GS3, I'm willing to sacrifice that, I'm just wondering how people deal with it... Custom kernels helping with battery etc.
I usually charge my phone every night, so will that be ok to live with the one x?

Battery life is really good with the custom kernels and roms
Standby time is amazing. I left my phone overnight, started at 60% battery, about 6 or so hours later, guess how much I had left? 59%.
Screen on time isn't brilliant, but the average is 3-4 hours screen on time for most people.
The battery life is a massive step up from my dhd, certainly the gs2, and this is mainly down to the companion core in the tegra 3.
Don't fret about the battery life. I can't say for definite, but it's probably better than GS3 imo. This companion core really does do wonders
Edit: you mention you normally charge overnight, I do if I want to have a full charge for the next day, but with this phone its not actually necessary to charge overnight. Assuming you have at least some battery left lol

Brilliant cheers for the reply. I'll give it ago I think and see what happens.
Seems to me that the rooting and installing custom ROM method is a lot more complicated on the HOX... Is that the case or am I just thinking its a lot more difficult?
It's not too complicated, just make sure you read instructions carefully. The only problem is no s-off yet, so you have to flash boot.img in fastboot mode using computer and unlock via HTC.dev
About battery. It's a biggest problem for me, but I'm a heavy user and sometimes charge during the day. But using it for music, sometimes browser, mail it should last during the day. Just make sure in the evening you have charger I mean, using auto brightness and switching off connections when not needed. despite of this, I really love this phone.
You'll fall in love too
I'm having great battery life with the OrDroid ROM. Averaging almost 4.5 hours of on screen time. Not anywhere near my 6.5 hours with the GS3, but I prefer the One X in most situations.

To be honest, rooting the Samsung phones looks complicated (I've never done it) however I'm sure it's fairly straightforward to do, once you know how Likewise with the hox, pretty easy once you know how.
Don't be put off by that, the rooting of hox is pretty easy, there's a good guide here that says literally everything you need to do it. Just read it a few times before attempting anything (do this with any of these sorta things imo) I think it's in general section you should be able to find it easily enough

I have them both. The Samsung can be rooted right out of the box in one step. A whole lot easier.
But, once you get the hang of both of them, it's not that difficult to work with either.
Just ordered one

Gotta say, this whole thing with HTC unnecessarily locking them down is gonna make me think hard when it comes to next phone
If it's the same as now, won't be that bad, it's just what else are htc going to do in future to restrict this development?
From their point of view I guess they have unlocked them, previous phones were just locked down but not very well.. They've just done the job properly on locking it down this time (pity not on qc lol)
Gah damn these stupid policies
Probably the wrong place for my little rant lol ^_^

[Q] Questions about the M9 before buying

Hi everyone, I'm considering buying an HTC One M9 for my next phone and I'd like to ask the following questions:
1. Is the camera really as bad as the press makes it out to be?
2. Does the battery make it through a whole day? I use my phone mostly on WiFi, need 3-4h of SOT, will this phone survive?
3. Is the overheating really a big issue?
There are many great threads created that will answer all your questions my friend
^^^ This^^^
Short answers IMHO:
1. Nope
2. Depends on usage
3. Nope
Sent from Tapatalk on either my HTC One M9 or Tab4 10.1, it kinda depends
