WiFi tether for SPRINT with Android 4.1.2 - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I just got my Galaxy S2 SPH-D710. I rooted it with ODIN and the downloaded Rooted Stock Firmware. It is now 4.1.2.
I have been trying to get WiFi tether to work. I have tried the following with no luck;
1-Click WiFi tether
PDA net (FoxFi) - would get ip address from phone but no data connection to internet
and WiFi tether for root users - could not get a ip address from phone. Maybe I am using the wrong Device-Profile. (Itried a bunch of them)
What am I missing?
Thanks
Bill

I used WifiTether_TrevE_Mod_11_22_2012 as it was the latest build I could find. http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390195663897100312
Worked right out of box. No configuring needed. Now to do some testing with it.

Wifi Teather Problem

I installed HTC EVO 3.70.651.1 ROM Root and now my WiFi teather is not working right. When I connect it to my laptop or iPod it shows up but when I go to browse it states it has no internet connection. Then When trying to reconnect to my home network. I cant even do that. I have to reset my router. How can I get my phone to teather correctly again?

Do you mean you applied the OTA update or you flashed a ROM running 3.70? If you accepted the update OTA then you're no longer rooted and WiFi Tether will no longer work.
I installed a rooted version of the ROM. not the stock one
try the latest WiFi tether from here.
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
if that don't work, you will have to install a custom kernel for it to work.
Hey thanks! That newer version seems to have done the trick.

[Q] Rooted Evo 4g 3.30 No Tether capabilities Error code 67

Ok so I rooted my:
Evo 4g
Hardware version 004
Hboot2.02
Software version 3.30.651
I used all in one Autoroot file in the forum "[ROOT] ~~~ HTC EVO - Universal Auto Root ~~~ v2.0 (Updated for 3.70)(1/4/11)"
It rooted fine and flashed the sprint lovers rom. It Also updated my software version to 3.70.
Problem is I cant seem to tether my 3g or 4g connection with my computer. Keep getting error code 67. Tied Wi-fi-tether, Barnacle, sprint hotspot. Same thing always Error msg, then my mobile network shuts off. If I turn it back on usb tethering turns off. Did I flash the wrong Pc36IMG? Any help would be great! Thanks

Can you use the mobile internet on your phone?
I would start with a ##786# and reset.
[You'll need the MSL to do so, use MSL reader from the app market, requires root]
Uploaded the APK in case you can't access the market.
I would try what is said in the post below first but if that doesn't work I would try this route.

Youll need to update your wireless profile and PRL and it should come back. Mine did that too after I was done testing it, it could be either the ROM or the recovery since they are both new. That should fix you up there but if it doesn't just shoot me a msg and help you figure out what is causing it.
Ok So I updated the wireless profile and PRL. Still get the error 67.
Mobile network is working.
Have MLS reader. It appers to be working(MLS reader that is)
How do I "start with a ##786# and reset".
Im noob but learning..
Try this bro
http://db.tt/4FMb26y
Let me kno if it works, just flash it like a rom no need to wipe nothing.

There is another way to do the 786 rest without wiping, use ##3282# -> edit -> data profile -> menu(cap button) -> restore

Ok so called ##786# and reset. No dice.
Whats the easiest way to flash That file? And have you tested it or am I testing it out?? Thanks
I think what we are looking at here, is a new Evo owner. Unless you are paying sprint for the mobile hotspot plan $29.99/mo extra on your bill, you cannot tether unless you flash a tether hack, or flash a custom rom that has tethering unlocked. You will always receive error 67 unless you either unlock your tethering by paying sprint their fee, or flashing a fix for it.
So is the sprint lovers Rom tethering unlocked? Or hacked

Err, wait a min. You are right. I think he if trying to use sprints tethering.
I don't think it is unlocked in sprint lovers, you'll bed to user the wireless tether app instead.

Mmmkay.
So I flashed the Calkulins evo tethering fix(above). I dont get any more error 67 msg, But My computer doesnt seem to find the connection anymore. It found before with limited connectivity b4 the .Zip flash. No connectivity really, but it was there. Any New drivers needed?
Also tried the ##3282# made it to edit then it asked for a password. My profile password has letters, Keyboard for password entry only has numbers.. What password is it looking for.
I am using (trying to at least) Wi-fi-tether, wi-fi-hotspot. Phone is set to USB tethering mode. Usb debugging off.
Found that easy-tether works, could just pay for the upgrade.. Anybody know how ET compares to wi-fi-tether?
Thanks for all the help

Ok, sorry I forgot about sprints hot spot. Look up "wireless tether for root user" on the market, that one works pretty good.

Thank you to everyone! I don't know exactly why but, USB tethering works now. Calkulins .Zip file was Key to getting rid of error MSG.
USB tether didn't work right away. For some reason Barnacle was the only one that my comp would recognize at first. After it recognized the connection using Baracle, all other apps started to work(wi-fi-tether, Wireless tether for root, etc). Thanks again!

[Q] Rooted wifi tether stopped working?

Hi guys,
The first thing I did when I got my Nexus is root the phone and install the wireless tether for root users. It worked fine the first few times I ran it, but now whenever I hit start tether it starts up and mentions I should check the error log. At this point the tether has failed to broadcast a network even though the app thinks it's working, and everything is ok in the error log except these 3 steps:
Setting ad-hoc mode
Setting essid
Setting channel
These 3 flag as failed, I have tried other wifi tethering apps and get basically the same result where they won't start up or they start but fail to broadcast.
My wifi works fine, I can connect to networks via wifi without any issues, but I'm really stumped as to why the tethering has stopped working.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm running the stock ROM still as root while I wait for a good port of the forthcoming CM9, so if someone wants to suggest a stable, fully working ROM to flash in the meantime that's fine too
An update, I flashed a couple of different roms and this issue has now persisted accross all of them. Nobody has any experience with the same problem?
do you have the most recent version of wifi tether?

As far as I'm aware yes, it is also failing to work with other wifi tethers (have tried barnacle tether which does exactly the same thing)
I'm starting to think it might be hardware somehow, but other than this the wifi works fine for connecting to networks.

[Q] Sprint Samsung s3 rooted but no WiFi

I rooted my Sprint Samsung s3 SPH-L710 with Odin3 and have superuser. Root validator shows everything green and shows I have root access. I installed WiFi Tether and it turns on but does not put out a signal. I tried all the different device profiles in the settings of the WiFi tether and still got nothing under any of them. Any suggests to get the WiFi working? Do I need to complete more steps? Thanks
Always helps to search.
