Hi,
I am using [ROM][PORT][4.0.4]TouchWiz by LaweK v.3 but I do not have the camera flash working. Even if I turn it on explicitly instead of auto flash is not used when taking a photo.
What could be the cause of this?
No chance to get flash working with the default camera.apk. Instead I am using Camera ICS now which is working.
Camera flash works well with CM9,No issues at all.
Does it work with the default Camera.apk?

Today I read a little guide from youmobile, about installing the new camera in android 4.2. (cant post link since im new)
I did everything except I forgot to backup first. Now everytime i start up the phone, open camera or open gallery it comes "Gallery has crashed".
Anyone knows what I might have done wrong? I used ROM Manager -> Boot into clockwordmod recovery -> flash zip -> and i chose the zip.
The camera is working trough apps like Snapchat, but not trough the stock app.
I could also use the stock 4.1.2 gallery and camera .apk so I atleast can get back my camera.
I am running on 4.1.2 takju nexus, with Air Kernel 3.0.46.
Please help.

try this zip. it's fixed so that everything should work.

if you still get crashes, you may want to reflash your Rom (without wiping).
also try fixing permissions, either in clockwork or rom manager

Thanks. I'm new tho, so what do you mean by fixing permissions. Could you give me step by step?
Go into recovery(CWM) and select the fix permissions option (might be under advanced)
Swype'ed on my CM10 Galaxy Nexus
Installing the .zip file already fixes permissions. Have you tried renaming the apk to Gallerygoogle2.apk in your preferred file manager?
second post, the link works perfectly.
Thanks!
I have the t mobile one (SGH-T999) and i wiped everything and installed the latest cm10.1, but it seems that any rom based off of CM also kills my camera but any other rom allows it to work. CM makes it so any camera app crashes even before i see anything out of the camera lens. what should i do?
same issue here. Stable CM10, camera throws "can't connect to camera" error. Latest CM10.1 nightly, same issue. Latest Jellybam, same issue.
Wicked has functional camera, but I'd like to stay as close to basic AOSP/AOKP/CM as possible.
Anyone found a solution? Anyone not having this issue?
I suppose wiping camera/gallery was the first thing you tried.
Yeah, sure was. So far I have...
Cleared gallery cache/data from "manage apps"
Wiped data, cache, dalvik cache from CWM touch recovery 6.0.2.3
fix permissions from CWM touch recovery 6.0.2.3
installed every CM10/AOKP based rom I can find twice, wiping data/cache each time
tried other camera apps (none work, all have similar errors regarding inability to connect to camera)
It doesn't seem like this is a common issue. I'd be very convinced my hardware is simply broken, except that the camera works in the stock samsung rom, wicked, and pretty much everything build on touchwiz/samsung.
possibly a kernel issue?
have a look at this thread. i've been having camera problems with all versions of CyanogenMod that i've tried on my Galaxy S III and this latest possible fix is giving me hope. i'm restoring back to stock via ODIN right now and am going to pull the stock version of SlimISP_ZH.bin from /data and attempt to drop it into my CM10 image to see what might work.
Dont use the one that says it has photosphere working. Cause it doesnt work. You need to use a 4.1 gallery2.apk file.
My camera app displays dozens/hundreds of horizontal blues flickering lines. I am running CM10, but the problem persists even if I flash back to stock (not just a restore, but a full flash of the stock image.)
Additional info: The front facing camera works fine. I have installed the Google camera app so that I can have photoshere. The front facing camera works fine. I have tried changing all (I think) camera options to no avail. When I flashed the stock ROM, I did not wipe or clear the cache, but I did do so before returning to CM10.1 RC1. An example image is attached to this post.
In this image, the lines are horizontal because the picture was taken in landscape.
Thanks for any help.
Unless you Odin flash the latest stock firmware and wipe EVERYTHING, (stock factory reset) there's no way to be 100% sure it's a hardware problem.
It probably is, but until you do that, there is the possibility of it being something else.
I would first flash UVDMD5 in Odin and test. If it still gives you problems, Odin flash the latest ICS firmware. If you're willing to go that far with it, I will post how to update the camera firmware (if not already done) when I'm on my computer and can more easily look it up again.

I have the same problem with my phone, and I've flashed/cleared cache/reflashed and so on for a couple of hours now. At first I thought it was fixed, but it turns out it only happens in low light conditions. Happens with flash on and off. I'm running cm10, but I was running CM10 for over a year before this started.
Any suggestions besides buying another phone?

Please let me know what you find out on this. I have tried wiping the cache and data for the camera and rebooting. as well as a fresh install, wipe cache partitions and still no luck. I really like stock 4.3 with root but it looks like I'm back to 4.2.2 unless anyone knows a way. I'll keep you posted as well if I find anything brother!
I've got a Honami ROM installed
it had the stock camera of JB 4.1.2 but i got sick of it and looked for the 4.3 camera
flashed it, was working fine
until i decided to go back to stock camera because the 4.3 was too slow and buggy
so after flashing the stock camera, it won't work
i've tried wiping cache and dalvik
clearing every app data related to the camera nut it still won't work

Delete all camera related apps from /system/app . Then flash the stock camera again to make it work. Do take a backup of Your current ROM though if anything goes bad.
